    The Hanging Gardens

In the bottle: I think I get more fir and peach than anything else. I was hoping for more sweetness though. Wet on skin: Less fir (thank Gods), more peach and pear and other sweet fruits. There's also a hint of sweet floral in there; I think it's the plumeria. It's got some apple-y crispness to it as well. Dry on skin: Oooooh! This is a complex floral and fruity fragrance once it dries down. It's hard to pick out which notes are stronger, but I detect everything from peaches and pears and apples to plumeria and rose and more. It's something very tropical. Verdict: This one is nicer once it's dry than it is in the bottle. It's probably better for Spring or Summer, given the light fruity florals, but personally I'd wear it any time of year when I need a pick-me-up.

    Belle Époque

In the bottle: As with several others, I smell Lily of the Valley and sandalwood in the bottle. Together they're neither floral nor woody. There's a little touch of sweetness to it. Wet on skin: Lily of the Valley, sandalwood, and a small hint of citrus and opium. I really catch the vanilla when my wrist is farther away from my nose; up close it's sharper and less sweet. Dry on skin: On my skin this dries into opium with a touch of vanilla. It's not very strong. Verdict: I went ahead and bought a 5ml bottle of this after enjoying the imp. It changes many times from in-the-bottle to dry-down, which keeps things interesting. Very nice.

    Xanthe, The Weeping Clown

In the bottle: Fruity, but not sweet. I think I'm smelling guava and apple and something else. It's sort of a "sophisticated" fruity. Wet on skin: Cherry blow pops!!! I swear I can detect bubble gum here, almost reminiscent of Jailbait but without so much of the sweetness. I can also smell more of the white pepper. I wasn't sure how well it would blend in, but WOW it works so well! Dry on skin: This is fainter when dry. It still sweet, a little bit like candy, more like fruit, with something non-sweet and non-fruity mixed in to give it some bite. Verdict: This scent warrants hording multiple bottles, just like my beloved Wanda and Jailbait. Sooooo lovely.

    Prague

In the bottle: For not having fruit notes in it, it smells REALLY fruity. Almost candy-sweet. Wet on skin: The fruitiness is softening up a bit; it's stronger when my wrist isn't right up against my nose. Up close, I definitely smell lilies. Dry on skin: It's faded significantly, but strong enough for me to get a good whiff. It alternately smells of fruitiness and lilies. Verdict: I will probably end up buying a full bottle of this. It's a very girly, pretty scent.

    Wanda

In the bottle: Berries, wine, and a hint of leather. I think I am already in love. Wet on skin: Yeah, I'm definitely in love with this. This is wine and berries in a very sexy scent, still with a teeny hint of leather. Dry on skin: A bit more leather, but still very much wine and berries. It's amazing. Verdict: Bottled sex. I wish I could bathe in this.

    Honey and Beeswax scents

I have discovered recently that I LOVE the scent of honey. Jezebel is one of my favorite scents, BPAL or otherwise. On me, the honey dominates everything else and I love every moment of it. It's been 12 hours and I can still smell it on my wrists. What others scents do you all recommend for those of us who like honey?

    Jezebel

In the bottle: Hmmm... I can't quite put my finger on what hits me first. I can smell honey, florals, sandalwood, and something fruity. Wet on skin: HONEY!!! I smell sweet, wonderful honey, tempered a bit by the rose and sandalwood. I'm not getting any citrus. I think I smell delicious. Dry on skin: Still honey, but with a little more rose and sandalwood. I can't pick out the citrus, but it must be blended in there somewhere because there's something else in this. I still smell delicious. Verdict: One of my signature scents. It's another scent that improves once it's on my skin.

    Bewitched

In the bottle: One of my first thoughts was "Snapple raspberry tea!" when I sniffed this. Not very sexy, but it sure smells good! Wet on skin: A bit more sophisticated out of the bottle than in the bottle. It's not quite as "edible" and more like something I'd love to have as incense. I can smell the berries, but they're accompanied by something much greener. Dry on skin: Much the same as wet on the skin. I think it still smells a lot like berry herbal tea, but in a sexier way than Snapple or Stash. Does that make any sense? Verdict: This is one of three 10ml bottles I own. I adore this.

    Bayou

In the bottle: This smells very "wet" to me, if one can say such a thing. Vaguely flowery, with something a bit more crisp. Maybe moss? Wet on skin: Definitely smell the aquatic notes and the moist flowers. Pretty much the same as in the bottle. Dry on skin: This doesn't change much on drydown, at least not on me. I loved the scent in the bottle and I'm happy it stays the same for the most part. Verdict: You know those pictures of places like the Everglades? That's sort of what this smells like. Swamps don't actually smell very good, but they look so lovely in pictures and this is what I imagine they smell like in pictures.

    London

In the bottle: One word - ROSES Wet on skin: Still roses, but a bit different than when in the bottle. I hesitate to say it's greener, as many other reviewers have said, but it is different. Dry on skin: Still roses! Lovely white tea roses are what come to mind. Verdict: This is something I could wear any day. I adore rose-based scents and this is certainly one of the better ones to me.

    Gaueko

In the bottle: I can't decide which is stronger: the lavendar or the sandalwood. They seem to play off of eachother nicely. Wet on skin: VERY lavendary. A little bit of sweet tobacco peeks out, but it's very faint behind the lavendar. Dry on skin: Still mostly lavendar and tobacco. The sandalwood faded to let the lavendar rule everything. I was hoping it would stay. Verdict: This is okay. I'll use up the rest of my imp. I'm not sure if I'll buy any more. I like the lavendar, but the tobacco just doesn't quite do it for me, and I was hoping for more sandalwood.

    Blood

In the bottle: Yay! Cherry! I also detect some clove, but not really anything else. Wet on skin: Still lots of cherry, kissed with clove and dragon's blood. Dry on skin: The myrrh shows up more as this dries on my wrist, as does the clove. Still a hint of cherry after four hours. I kept smelling my wrist as I rode the bus out to meet my mom. Verdict: This is one that warrants a full bottle and not just another imp. It smells wonderful from the moment I open it up to hours later when I catch a whiff of it on my wrist. It reminds me a little of Kabuki, with the cherry, but it's more complex and I like it much better.

    Mi-Go Brain Canister

In the bottle: For a solid second I get a wonderfully fruity scent... And then it's ruined by pervasive Jasmine. I want to like this, but I'm not so sure. Wet on skin: Ew. Jasmine's even stronger now, with none of that wonderful mango. Dry on skin: Still Jasmine. Verdict: I know a lot of people like Jasmine, but for me it's just *ew*. It does not react well with my skin chemistry. Unless it's mixed with a select few notes, it overpowers EVERYTHING. Mi-Go Brain Canister is no exception. This makes me sad.

    Snow Moon

In the bottle: This is very hard to describe. It actually smells sort of spicy to me, yet cold. Wet on skin: A little bit more floral, now, but still spicy and cool. It's very complex. Something in this smells a bit like cinnamon apples. Dry on skin: Now I REALLY smell cinnamon apple cider, which is weird because I didn't see that anywhere in the description. Not that I'm complaining, since it smells lovely. It smells like flowers one minute and then the next minute it smells like something I could drink on a cold, frosty morning. Verdict: So sad I only have this one bottle from eBay. This is something I really, really like. It could work as a perfume scent or as a room scent.

    Kitsune-Tsuki

In the bottle: I got this as a present and wasn't sure if I liked it in the imp. I detected more Jasmine than I would have liked to, but there was enough other goodness to make up for that. Something vaguely fruity. In the spirit of adventure, I gave it a try. Wet on skin: The fruitiness overpowers the Jasmine, which is definitely a good thing. Very sensual. I'm not completely sold, but I'm hopeful. Dry on skin: A wonderful balance between fruity and floral. For some reason this reminds me of Bordello (maybe it's the plum?). Verdict: I may end up getting a whole bottle of this. It's one of those scents that I didn't like in the bottle, but ended up drying into a lovely, sexy scent on my skin.

    Spellbound

In the bottle: Very deep and haunting. Rose is the main note at play here, but it doesn't keep the musk from coming out. In a word, it's intense. Wet on skin: Still very intense and rosy, but the musk is a bit stronger. It's *so* sexy. Dry on skin: I still smell rose and musk, maybe with a hint of something else (the amber) but not much. The rose and musk are both very deep and they make a wonderful combination. Verdict: This is one of the three scents I own in 10ml bottles. It's THAT good. It's so sexy and dark and beautiful; I never want to be without it.

    Lucy's Kiss

In the bottle: Roses! And a hint of something else. The rose isn't overwhelming, however. Wet on the skin: Lighter than in the bottle, but still very rosy. It's very "springtime", but it also might cheer someone up in the dead of winter. Dry on skin: Not much change between wet and dry on the skin. As before, it's very rose-based but there is still a hint of something herbal and spicy in the background. Verdict: This is something I will probably buy a whole bottle of. Lovely!

    Titania

In the bottle: I ordered this one in a 10ml bottle unsniffed, and I am so very glad I did! The fruits are much more prominent than any of the florals, especially the peach and grape. My first thought was "It smells like faeries!" Wet on skin: Still very fruity, a bit lighter than in the bottle. It smells almost good enough to lick. I can detect a faint hint of flowers, but not strongly enough to tell what flower it is. Dry on skin: Five hours later at a concert I still caught a whiff of peaches and grapes and pears. My boyfriend liked it, too. Verdict: One of my absolute favorite BPAL scents ever. It's light and lovely and longlasting and makes you feel like a faerie queen.

    Delight

In the imp: Overpowering jasmine. Not a good beginning, as I was hoping that the other notes might be stronger. Wet on skin: Slightly less strong, but still too much Jasmine. Dry on skin: Still too much jasmine. I like rose and frangipani, but the jasmine is just bleh. Verdict: If you like jasmine, this one's for you! If you don't like jasmine, beware.

    All Night Long

In the bottle: Cinnamon with just a hint of fruitiness. I'm already in love. Wet on skin: Oh my! Cinnamon is still very strong, but overall it's less fruity. Dry on skin: Now I can smell clove as well as cinnamon. It smells wonderful. Verdict: Sexy, cinnamony and spicy. It works very well with my body chemistry - most cinnamony scents do, actually. This might make it into my top ten favorites.

    Rakshasa

In bottle: I smell rose more than anything, but I can detect some patchouli. Pleasant, but not amazing. Wet, on skin: Rose is less prominent, sandalwood is more obvious. Dry, on skin: WOW! The sandalwood and patchouli dominate. If I sniff my wrist up close, I get a lot more sandalwood. Still a hint of rose. Verdict: Not bad at all. It's not something I'd get a whole bottle of, though. It might smell really good on a guy.
