In the imp: eeeep! cherry/almond! (I think more almond, than cherry. Maybe I think almond because it makes me think artificial cherry?) Something musky, something in there that makes me think faintly licorice, which would be the anise. Wet on skin: Hit me with the almond stick? Although, it's starting to turn more cherry-like, which is nice if you want to smell like cherries. The anise has gone into hiding. Dry: Cherry with a twang. Anise if I think about it, is the twang. It's starting to smell warmer, if that makes any sense. I'm not thinking almond anymore now that it's not wet. Overall: I don't know if I'm big on smelling like cherries and anise. It's more cherries with a capital C, with a little bit of anise on me. it feels like it's missing something on me. A deeper note of something? Maybe my skin ate it.

Right wrist says Dragon's Heart tonight! (The left wrist currently sports Blood) In the imp: I smell ... cherries, and currants (not completely dried out, but definitely concentrated), and something sharp, and something floral. I don't actually know what fig would smell like, but that plus the currants kind of adds to the dark fruitiness that's floating about? Not all tropical, or punch-like, and nothing involving apples or citrus ... it's not even generic fruit like you might find in bubblegum or something. Describing by telling what it's not ... not sure if that's very useful...! The DH reminds me gently that I should sometimes attempt to answer the question, when I'd much prefer to throw about a comment, which is sometimes related to the question ... Maybe ... if vampires had orchards and bred new varieties of fruit ... goth fruit! Yep. I have no idea. Wet on skin: the sharp kind of goes away a little bit, I get rose-powdery cherries. Dry on skin: Is there such a thing as sharply powdery? Dragon's Heart side-by-side to Blood, there's a big difference. Where Blood is rounder, Dragon's Heart is a little spikier to my nose. I don't know whether that's going to make any sense to anyone else though *grin* Overall, I'm not sure I like the sharpness that sticks around with Dragon's Heart. I don't mind powderyness so much, depending on what else sticks about, but the sharp thing just doesn't do it for me.

This is another one of the imps from one of my first forays into bpal via ebay... (hey, I have thirteen of them, plus a couple of frimps!) In the imp: something sharp, cherry (like the bright red maraschino ones, in syrup?), plus some fruit. It's definitely blood-coloured, well oxygenated? Wet on skin: I don't actually know what dragon's blood smells like, but given that I've got both Blood and Dragon's Heart, I can detect a similarity, that something sharp + cherry + some sort of rose. The first review against Dragon's Blood, by blackrayne describes Dragon's blood as somewhere between rose and cherry + earthiness, which makes sense to me. Something incensey, nothing that makes me think clove, or cinnamon. Dry: Something metallic, maybe caused by cinnamon? Less on the cherry now, kind of more like rose incense. The sharpness kind of goes away, but I'm learning quick that even if something doesn't smell in the imp like something I'd want to willingly wear, I should try everything on skin first, because quite a lot of notes perhaps not pleasant to me, will go away once they've warmed up a little. Overall, I quite like this, maybe not enough to want more than an imp's worth, seeing as I can't actually think of a situation where it would be appropriate in mood and setting to wear this. I can't see me wearing this to work, we're heading into summer in the southern hemisphere, and I think of this more as a cooler weather scent. Actually, it's still kind of cold, and I'll feel kind of cold until probably December/January anyways ... The DH popped into the computer room to see what I was up to, so he got to have a sniffie at both wrists - he didn't mind this one, quite possibly because it didn't involve lavender *grin*

I got an imp of HGM in one of my first few ebay purchases, my first sniffie left my keyboard at work smelling of HGM, which, in itself isn't a bad thing! In the imp: It's very soft, something citrussy, something musk. There's something bright in there, nothing I can pick out definitively as ginger, maybe something that makes me think aloe ... because it reminds me of an aloe drink we can get at the asian groceries around here. Wet on skin: ooh ... ginger, and citrus ... not lemon, kind of like a lime + grapefruit thing ... oddly enough, there's something that reminds me of the coconut you get out of suntan lotions. Dry (15 minutes): yum! Soft, and subtle but it wafts about. I wore this yesterday at work (wrists, small swipe on neck, and what passes for cleavage (!)), and I could detect it as I moved about. I get something floral also, but not overpowering. It's still clean, and soft, and bright, and makes me calm (: It's sweet, but not cloyingly so, I can't say I can tell there's vanilla in there, and for all the foodish notes, this isn't foody at all. There's nothing tea-like on me, but there is definitely something there that makes me think aloe. Overall, I really like this! Enough to adopt me a bottle! ETA: And I *did* adopt a bottle, eeeee! it's so cute!

I got an imp of this in one of my random forays into ebay, which is what's tiding me over til I can work out what I'd like to go in my first actual order (: From the description, it didn't immediately strike me as something that I'd love straight away, maybe because I haven't had much experience with amber in scent blends, so I didn't have any clue what I'd be in for. On first sniff, I kind of earmarked this one as something I should go back to, cos it did smell bright, golden, and smooth in the imp, it's just taken me til ... a month later to *actually* get back to it. Wet on the skin it smells much like the imp, as it dries down it turns into a lovely skin-scent on me, kind of like sweet, clean skin. It's not particularly spicy on me, there's nothing that makes me think cinnamon or ginger, and the sweetness isn't necessarily a foody kind of sweet. I'm now at the 4 hour mark after today's application (wrists only), occasionally I'll get random whiffs of this as my hands move about, but otherwise I don't notice it's there unless I put my nose to my wrists. I also wore this a couple of days ago, and there was still scent I could detect when I went to bed that night. Given that it was a long day, I liked that this had staying power. I also like that it doesn't have massive throw, because I wear scents primarily for myself, and then for those who are close enough to me to smell, although DH is currently rolling his eyes at this current scent frenzy ... I really like this, and it's currently on my list of things that I wouldn't mind in a bottle. I'm giving all the imps I have so far enough of a chance to state their case, before I take any sort of bottle purchasing plunge though ... I think my account balance needs a bit of a break!

Wet - hmmm ... citrus? (lime + grapefruit? not specifically lemon). Nothing that instantly reminds me of cleaning products (which is definitely a good thing) Drydown - florals + something that makes it a little sweeter, a version of vanilla that hasn't decided it wants to bring a plastic note to play with (how nice!), but there's something medicinal underneath it all. Dry - There's a heady white floral in this, and something medicinal (green not brown, if it helps?) ... the vanilla has walked off, probably cos the orange blossom walked up and thumped it into submission ... I don't know what black narcissus smells like, is that what's making me think medicinal , slightly bitter smells? It's quite sharp, yet still kind of musty ... I wish the vanilla didn't go away (I might try this with a dab of a vanilla scent I have ?), because it would've helped tame the sharpness on me.

So, I couldn't wait - but the winnings from an ebay auction sure came quick ! I have a lil imp to try, here goes nothing? Wet - Buttery, with something vaguely berry-like, and something vaguely ... sour? Drying - I can smell something that reminds me of plastic (that's not good ): ), but if I try hard to ignore it, I can smell vanilla and berries, like a creamy berry candy, perhaps a flavoured buttercream? Besides the buttercream part, there's nothing that specifically makes me think cakes! Dry - I was hoping that the thing that's making me think plastic would go away, but it hasn't completely gone yet... Even more dry - yay! plastic is gone! (unless I put my nose to the back of my hand ...) I smell pink cotton candy and cream! It's just that it took a while to get there ... I don't tend to go for things that have buttery notes in them, especially buttery + vanilla as the odds are that I'll get something smelling like melting vanilla scented plastic bags, which is kind of unfun. However, not knowing where to start, this wasn't too bad!

I just updated mine with the Samhain, Order of the Dragon and A Picnic in Arkham scents. (Typed by the wonderful bifemmefatale) New stuff is at the bottom so you should be able to just copy and paste those rows. Thankyou muchly for updating - it's helping a newbie to BPAL who is obsessed with making lists attempt to keep organised!
