Oils to relax, calm, soothe, restore your sanity...
klavierbarrette replied to Shollin's topic in Recommendations
these oils are good to help anxiety - Anise Basil Benzoin Bergamot Cedarwood Frankincense Grapefruit Jasmine Lemon Marjoram Neroli or Orange Blossom Spikenard Ylang Ylang in addition to that i find lavender soothing. from what i've tried, pannychis and titus andronicus are very good 'happy' scents. i have found scents with fruit to be more uplifting to me than woodish ones. you might want to get an imp of skuld too, sounds very happy and it's one i've had my eye on. also try your favorite scent. my favorite, gamaliel, is very good at calming me (and as vampy stated, her fave golachab helps her). though it does have lemon and some wood (i don't think it's cedar however, perhaps there's some marjoram in there?) in it and those are said as stated above to help with anxiety. -
Best BPAL for gym, workout, sports, exercise?
klavierbarrette replied to quinkel's topic in Recommendations
gamaliel, similiar to dorian with the musky and lemon notes, lasts a looong time on me. i've never tried dorian (i so so want to!) but it might be the lemon and musk that does it for some people. -
imp and skin: lavender and jasmine. uh huh. dry: more lavender than jasmine. it's just lavender on me. might as well just spray my lavender mist on myself >> nice scent, it's just....all lavender.

in bottle and on skin: honeywine! drying: i'm getting what i assume is the laurel branches and bay leaf. honey is fading into the background but still very prominent. an interesting scent, but not bottle worthy. not too big on bay leaf and honey.

in bottle and on skin: wood. lots of wood. on the skin the wood is just amped up. hoping florals and bergamot comes in to play soon. oddly i cannot smell the horrid red musk that my skin hates. a bit later (5 mins or so): i think i can smell juniper. a bit better. the wood is toned down a bit. yay. 5 more mins: juniper is gone. all i get is wood. i don't like wood scents and i thought i gave this one to vampy, so i'm not sure why i kept it. it'll stay with me so i can blend some florals with it. not going to get a big bottle, but it is a nice wearable wood scent, not one that makes me want to throw it across the room. lol

a much belated review of my lovely. musky and a bit fruity in the bottle, at first i didn't notice what it was other than instant love. then BOOM! lemon sitting on some kind of wood. but it's not TOO LEMON, just enough to make it lovely. this oil also lasts a very long time on me, though it does fade a little. i get no berry from it, just a light musk and some lemon/wood. very simple and lovely. this is my favorite oil and first i might add (so far) and i just happened to buy this simply on the description from the site. i cannot BELIEVE how much i turned out liking it.

in the imp: floral and sweet. on skin: pretty much as in the imp, but i can smell musk and tonka. i can't smell any sage (though i don't really know what it smells like) but i assume it's just keeping the floral and tonka in line. it's very sexual and more feminine than the other reviews have said on me. though i wouldn't mind testing it on a guy. it's not a scent i would wear everyday as it's much too feminine for my tastes, but i wouldn't mind getting a bottle of it if i had the money.

Why do scents turn to baby powder on me?!
klavierbarrette replied to stardust's topic in Recommendations
yeah, you have to find out what musk works for you...my skin likes white and dark musk, but red musk = no. bengal, if you haven't tried it, is very lovely. -

LuLu Guiness Cast A Spell - Anything Similar?
klavierbarrette replied to inkheart's topic in Recommendations
Lurid, a very nice scent. No idea what 'Cast a Spell' smells like, but I'd definitely recommend Lurid for someone who likes those notes. however, Lurid has black currant, not red currant. I don't know the difference. Xiuhtecuhtli smells nothing like Lurid to me, but it's good too. you might also want to try Blood Countess - Elizabeth Báthory, also called Erzsébet Báthory in Hungarian and Alžbeta Bátoriová-Nádašdy in Slovak, was the Bloody Lady of Hungary. In order to preserve her youth and loveliness, the brutal and incomparably savage countess captured, tortured and slaughtered innumerable young women and bathed in their blood as part of her beauty regimen. Ah, vanity. Corrupted black plum, smoky opium and crumbling dead roses covered by a deceptive veil of Hungarian lilac, white gardenia and wild berry. -
Red Currant, Black Currant & Cassis scents

i was just looking thru the dracula scents, wilhemina murray has blackcurrant, but you'd have to buy a full bottle. it's on my to buy list now that i know what the stuff is. -
in the imp: some kind of fruit, probably the bergamont with the neroli, cause it smells sweeter than an orange. wet on skin: still the same as in the imp, except amped up a little about 5 mins later: the same, but a little vanilla maybe? D: very pleasing. another 5 mins: i think i smell the amber. there's musk, but it's very sweet. i don't think i smell any frankincense. overall this is a nice, sweet orange-y scent that i LOVE.

i don't know what it really smells like, but i really like Lurid. I haven't had the chance to try any of the others. i get a lot of lavender and ozone-y notes from it myself. edit: now i'm getting this odd fruity scent that is sort of like grapes or blueberries...is that what you mean? it is indeed pretty. I guess i never noticed it since i've never tested this scent thoroughly. -
athens is nothing but honey for me....unless it changes later it may go to a swap :/

in the impy: not so bad...smells like trouble though (for me) on skin: EEK. i'm not sure if this is musk or patchouli but i can't stand it. drying down: it gets softer, the poppy comes out. i was about to put it in the swap bag, but i think i'll hang onto it.

gamaliel has lasted about two days on me i need to try my imps to see how long they stay on me ;D
