At the First Touch of Winter, Summer Fades Away
ellocentipede replied to Jenjin's topic in Limited Editions
I love this one. It reminds me of a scent that I used to love--maybe Snow Moon 2005? The florals are super pretty and smell like wildflowers (a little grassy/springy/breezy). The frost is one of my favorite cold/snowy notes from the Lab--it's clean and fresh with a hint of mint. Overall this is a really lovely fresh, clean, floral scent. I've been wearing it to work pretty constantly lately.- 3 replies

has a parlor house at No. 16 East Thirteenth street. There are six lady boarders; but no interest whatever attaches to this house. Some of its visitors have asserted that its inmates are of a snobbish disposition. A superior tea rose chypre. This is gorgeous. It is something between OLLA Eve and Chanel No. 5--classic, classy, elegant, and sexy. It's a beautiful woody, spicy tea rose. The tea rose is lush and velvety--not sharp or lemony. The effect is of a very smooth blend. It is superior, but in the way that Charlotte Wells in Harlots is superior--not overly snobby, but playful and spirited. I'm so happy that I took a chance on this.

Vanilla chiffon, honey musk, and pale magnolia. This is the one Luper that I was sure I would love, and therefore my only blind bottle purchase. The Bride is absolutely stunning! At first I get the same honey musk that is in Lady Una, but then it is joined by the magnolia, which is beautiful, lush, and realistic. I have been searching and searching for a magnolia perfume with no luck, and this one is just heavenly. I don't distinctly smell the vanilla chiffon, but I feel like it's sweetening (and making more realistic) the magnolia note. This is like sticking my face in a magnolia blossom--gently sweet, musky, and heady. Thank you, Beth, for such a beautiful scent!

SERVING TEA AFTER COITUS Green tea, heady honey, white plum, ambergris accord, and vanilla flower. Fresh out of the mailbox! I tried this lovely oil first because I love the image so much. This is a very light and delicate perfume that evokes a satisfied sigh and sunlight coming through sheer curtains in early spring. The scent hugs the skin and reminds me of honeyed vanilla green tea. Very lovely!

Sweet candied chestnuts mingled with warm spiced oudh. The oudh is very warm, sticky, and woody, and is sweetened by the candied chestnuts. This is how I imagine the Addams family house would smell at Yuletide—dark, slightly festive. This oudh is indolic like the oudh note in Bestla.

Lots of cocoa, adequate amounts of nog. I tend to not gravitate towards the foodie atmosphere sprays, but this one was a surprise love for me and I highly recommend it. It’s like rich, fancy cocoa powder with just enough eggnog to lend some creaminess and to keep it interesting with a bit of spice. If you’re into cocoa and chocolate scents, don’t miss this one!

I love this! It’s reminding me a bit of Blue Wig Spray (I think). I get sugared violets and lilac, and with a bit of wear I start to smell a bit of salt, which is sort of like the smell of skin after a beach day.

I really love this. It smells like a cozy old-fashioned fire-warmed kitchen: there's a cheerful blaze in the hearth and the table is set with gently-spiced baked goods and mulled wine. It's atmospheric and cozy and lifts my spirits.

I really love this one. It smells like velvety antler fuzz on a young buck in a forest. It also smells a lot like the gif that Jenjin posted. It's an optimistic and youthful take on Buck Moon!

Peach blossoms and cherry blossoms with vanilla husk, peonies, and orris root. Lovely, elegant spring floral. It’s cherry blossom + orris dominant. It’s similar to I Suppose You are a Princess, but is drier and less creamy. The vanilla husk and orris are probably lending the dryness. This is really beautiful. Edit it to add that on second sniff it’s equal parts cherry blossom + peach blossom + orris.

What we need, said Wednesday, suddenly, is snow. A good, driving, irritating snow. Think snow for me, will you? Huh? Concentrate on making those cloudsthe ones over there, in the westmaking them bigger and darker. Think gray skies and driving winds coming down from the arctic. Think snow. I dont think it will do any good. Nonsense. If nothing else, it will keep your mind occupied, said Wednesday, unlocking the car. Kinkos next. Hurry up. Snow, thought Shadow, in the passenger seat, sipping his hot chocolate. Huge, dizzying clumps and clusters of snow falling through the air, patches of white against an iron-gray sky, snow that touches your tongue with cold and winter, that kisses your face with its hesitant touch before freezing you to death. Twelve cotton-candy inches of snow, creating a fairy-tale world, making everything unrecognizably beautiful . . . Snow, thought Shadow. High in the atmosphere, perfect, tiny crystals that form about a minute piece of dust, each a lacelike work of fractal art. And the snow crystals clump together into flakes as they fall, covering Chicago in their white plenty, inch upon inch . . . Snow upon snow upon snow. I'm very happy to have this bottle in the middle of summer! My favorite thing to do in the heat is to spray down my bed linens with cool-scented atmos (The Cemetery, Many Years Ago is probably my favorite to use for this purpose), and Think Snow For Me is going to be excellent. Most of what I get is the cold minty kind of snow note. This snow note usually doesn't play nicely on my skin, but it's a wonderful scent that makes for an excellent room/linen spray. Backing up the cold minty snow is that lovely soft sweet snow note. It's reminding me of Go to Sleep Darlings (from several Yules ago). Overall, this spray is lovely, and I'd say it's a must have if you love snow scents.

[No additional description provided.] Honeyed rum cake with fig! This is more honeyed fig dominant and not overly boozy. I’ve never had Baba au rhum, but this is how it smells in my head.

[No additional description provided.] Gorrrrgeous. Sweet, fluffy, creamy, perfect, marshmallows!!!

Amber, tangerine, and orange blossom with tobacco, almond blossom, and golden patchouli. This one reminds me of the Phallus Festival atmo, except it’s a lot less foodie, sweet, and cloying. It’s almond blossom heavy. It smells like a honeyed almond + orange blossom cookie. It’s really nice!

Walking My Daughter to Class

Lemony tea with a little freshly-grated bergamot zest, sweetened with a smooth vanilla. I’m not getting any oakmoss (which is A-OK with me), so I think it’s more of a grounding element for the blend. This is a beautiful Dorian blend. -
This scent would be at home as either a Weenie or a Yule. Equal parts gently-spiced gingerbread and pumpkin bread, to my nose, with just a weeee gentle hint of coffee.

Yessss! This one is amazing. I get lots of sugary, floofy, fruit-punch flavored cotton candy (and now this is something that I desperately want to try in real life) and warm, perfect popcorn with a tiny kick of salt. The popcorn becomes more prominent with wear. I’m sure that the day that inspired this blend was the happiest day!

Mmmm. Rich, custardy flan and freshly mixed cake batter. It’s warm, creamy, and decadent without being overly sweet.

This makes me think of Christmas! It’s like crushed soft peppermints (the good stuff) over creamy vanilla and white chocolate ice cream.

A Night In the French Quarter
ellocentipede replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
Oh this is gorgeous. It’s like the nighttime counterpart to A Little Piece of Eternity, which I also love. I get rain-soaked osmanthus and dark plum. The rain note is warm, and not sharp, the osmanthus is perfectly heady without going funky, and the plum provides a nice deep pop of darkness. This does evoke nighttime in the Quarter to me, and is one of my very favorite scents from this update. -
Surprisingly, this one is a little perfumey to my nose. I think it’s the combination of the paper and cotton with my skin chemistry. The lavender, to my nose, is of the floral and softly sharp variety. This is a bookish blend, but it’s an elegant one that could be worn to something fancy, not a snuggly one to curl up and read with.
-
I avoid benzoin because it usually smells like sharp chemicals on my skin, but this one so far is benzoin-less to my nose. I get lots of heady, waxy ylang ylang and the most beautiful pink woody chypre. Everything is wrapped in a beautiful, soft, pink vanilla cloud.
-
Sappy pine tar and dry woods! This is like walking through a pine forest on a bright, sunny day.
-
This is a very pretty musk! In the bottle and when first applied I get a lot of red musk, but once on skin it blends fairly evenly with the skin musk. The effect to my nose is almost of an Egyptian musk. The pop of pink peppercorn (it’s definitely pink, and not super pepper-y, just gives the scent a little kick) meshes nicely with the sweet, clean orange blossom. There’s a grounding base of dry sandalwood holding everything together.

I could swear that I smell a good bit of oudh here—but it is of the rich, smooth variety and definitely not of the stanky sort. Honestly, this doesn’t smell like any of the listed notes to me at all, and I’m totally ok with that. It smells like the smoothest, most beautiful, hazy oudh ever, and I’m loving it!
