    Where is this scent?

i'm guessing that ceylon is a wanderlust prototype - it's listed down at the bottom of the page with other up & coming blends you should review it

    Signature restrictions

Please do not alter the size of the signature font or use the "quote" tag. Also, please double check that your signature images meet the guidelines. The portion of the forum code that checked signature sizes was an add-on and it has not yet been ported to the new version.

    Skin bug fixed

Fixed, and it was entirely my fault. I tried to reorder things, not realizing there was inheritance issue that had to be kept in mind

    Skin bug fixed

We have found a major bug with Just Ask Alice -- people using the skin are currently unable to read topics or PMs (though they can start new topics & write PMs). Until we are able to fix it, everyone who was on Just Ask Alice has been moved to the IPB 2.1 Default skin and the skin has been deactivated (so you shouldn't be able to switch to it). I do not know if this problem exists for the other skins (Dark Devil or Mata Hari). Please do not PM us about the problem for the Alice skin s we are aware of it and working on fixing it and bringing back the skin. Do, however, PM if you've got the problem for Dark Devil or Mata Hari

    Forum Re-Opened! Welcome to 2.1

If you used to have a resizing element to your signature, please remove it; there is a random bug that is blowing up certain sizes.
  6. The search engine for the BPAL site will be down for at least part of today - my webhost tells me that the server I'm on is getting an additional 2GB of RAM. It should only take 15 minutes, but could take longer. This should be done by 13:00 GMT.
  7. kennedy won't reply as she no longer works for the lab.

Where does the art on the website come from?

a great deal of the art is by gorey and beardsley (though i'm sure i spelled that wrong). some of the art (carnaval noir comes to mind) - including the CN postcard - was done by Macha

    Nested Quotes

Nested quoting has been turned back on. If nested quoting is gratitously used, individuals may be warned. We do NOT want to see something like the incident that caused us to turn them off (where there were 5+ quotes nested just because). The Fourm Etiquette FAQ talks a bit about using quotes, and discussion about it can be done there. For your convenience, the portion regarding nested quotes is below: [in]Nesting quotes: so good, yet so bad. It really goes back to the previous statement on using an entire quote when you're only discussing part of it -- sure, if Peter want to address something Jill said (and quoted Jack), that's one thing. But it's not good to do it just because the quote appears there by default - it wastes the time of the people reading it and it wastes forum resources AND bandwidth. So please, only have nested quotes where it's relevant. So, good nested quotes: No it's not! It's nearly $3.50!The price of gas in Paris, where Jack and I live, is $8/gallon - and I think I'd kill to only have to pay $3/gallon! Bad nested quotes: No it's not! it's nearly $3.50/gallon! Where the hell are you shopping?! Thank god for my hybrid car - I get 50mpg, so ithe price of gas isn't as nearly as bad as it would have been if I had bought the SUV I'd been considering. what kind of hybrid do you have? i've been thinking about buying one! Bad nested quotes turned good: what kind of hybrid do you have? i've been thinking about buying one! (PMs are another story, though - unlike quoted posts, which have the snapback link so you could go back to read the original post with just a click or you could use the topic search function at the bottom of each topic page, you have to manually search through your PMs to find the previous one, assuming that you saved it!)

    Bed of Nails

on the dry down, it somewhat reminds me of kingsport. alas, i am not a fan of kingsport, and not a fan of bed of nails. it's very aquatic and ozoney, and the wood didn't really speak out on me either. what did speak out was a big ol I AM MAN I AM MAN *chest thump* so i wouldn't be surprised to see the men of the forum liking this.

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

the cat description doesn't say that they are, so personally, i wouldn't assume that they were.

    Are custom scents available?

And with that, until such a time as custom scents are available, this FAQ is closed.

    Seeking grapefruit advice

i'm sad to say that the big grapefruit scents were discontinued due to a shortage (damn those hurricanes!), but if you can find baobhan sith, it's fabulously grapefruity.

    Are custom scents available?

i honestly don't see custom scents coming back any time soon. and if they did, it'd probably be significantly more than $150.

  19. uhm, i guess you can pm me for html-y related things. if it's major enough i need to talk to beth, it may not get fixed right away, though. i'm going to bed in the next hour, though, because i'm going to la tomorrow. if it's faq-y things, you should contact answers@blackphoenixalchemylab.com.

    Sri Lanka

i'll be honest, after the fantastic FLOP that silk road was for me, i didn't have high hopes for sri lanka - enough that i was content to wait until a swap floated by to get it. i'm not a fan of cedar, i'm leery of some sandalwood, and i don't know what olibanum and gum mastic smell like. that said! on me, the cedar's very much in check by the sandalwood (which i think maay be similiar to the one in queen mab). it's slightly sweet, slightly spicy, and not horribly wood. it's definitely a soft and round and light scent, which is exactly the opposite of what i expected. it's actually more what i thought silk road would smell like - the softness of the fabrics, the light spices, the wood chests for transporting everything. i enjoy it, and i may put it on the bottle list.

    Grand Guignol

it's very sweet apricots on me, not so much in the brandy. ripe and juicy apricots, mind you, but thassit. i'm not really a fan of apricots so this is going in the swap pile, but it was good to try it

    Fertility enhancement blends

nope, i wrote that part before i spliced and diced, i was surprised it wasn't mentioned!

    Fertility enhancement blends

i'm splitting a chunk of this thread into hijacks as it went into an ugly hijack that doesn't deserve its own thread - if you want to talk about infertility and the frustrations or celebrations (when/if a pregnancy or adoptions happens) about it, you're welcome to start a new thread. to those of you who had posts that were both re the hijack and on topic and asking for more recs, i apologize for not having a "copy post" function. it sucks sometimes to not have that ability at times like this. and i don't really have anything to add other than beltane! beltane is the fertility celebration - after all, "blessing your garden the old fashioned way" (teehee) for a bountiful garden (beit plentiful flowers or veggies) is basically having a nice bit of sex in it! it's also sowing what's reaped in the harvest

Why are LEs limited? Will they come back?

the question comes up often, and in several threads, so i thought i'd post a quote from beth (from another forum) answering why limited editions are limited so now you know, and knowing's half the battle.

    Turn around time

the fastest order i've ever had took 10 days, from ordering late at night (and including that night) to recieving. and there were two weekends in those 10 days, otherwise it would have taken a wee bit less of course, this was in 2003
