Dark Alice

Red apple with blackcurrant bud, black clove, and vanilla bourbon. Alas, This apple is not for me. It smells like a green honey crisp apple on my skin. And that's all. No vanilla bourbon. No clove. No Nothin. I am going to keep this for another couple of days and then smell it again...if it continues to be like this...it is going up on the sales block. ETA: After giving this a day to rest, the other notes become apparent. It starts off as a green apple, and then the vanilla bourbon and clove poke through and then poof, my skin eats it. I think aging will help this greatly b/c right now it has no staying power at all.

Presently I heard a slight groan, and I knew it was the groan of mortal terror. It was not a groan of pain or of grief oh, no! it was the low stifled sound that arises from the bottom of the soul when overcharged with awe. I knew the sound well. Many a night, just at midnight, when all the world slept, it has welled up from my own bosom, deepening, with its dreadful echo, the terrors that distracted me. I say I knew it well.

 Opaque grey amber and opoponax swelling up like thick smoke, pressed under the weight of baleful tobacco. The grey amber, opoponax and smoke blend really well. The tobacco gets strong for a minute and then it backs off and you are left with this mildly sweet tobacco and grey amber scent. This will age well and is extremely well blended. I love it!

The augurs brought forward the victims for him to make his final sacrifice before his entry into the Senate Room. It was manifest that the omens were unfavourable. The augurs substituted one animal after another in the attempt to secure a more auspicious forecast. Finally they said that the indications from the gods where unfavourable and that there was plainly some sort of curse hiding in the victims. Nicolaus of Damascus Darkness falling, shadows cast by prophesies unheeded: black oudh and amber. Wet: The amber and oude are separate entities. Strong, and very much there. Dry: Unlike our current political climate and poor Caesar, they come to an agreement and blend beautifully. Dry it's ambery oude, dark and slightly seductive. This bottle is worth keeping.

Sun-warmed dirt and wildflowers, a whiff of the lavender Lilith loves to use in her hair, and the green leaves of summer just turning to autumn's russet and brown. Wet: Fresh Lavender and green leaves. Fresh green leaves that you would find a child rolling in a pile. Dry: Lavender and green leaves. It's uncanny how realistic this is. Puddin and Beth: thank you for sharing your memories of Lilith with us through scent. This is beautiful.

In the bottle: Champagne and Cake Dried down: Gentle wafts of champagne with cake. White cake with alcoholic notes to it. I wish I had some champagne cake to eat right now.

I agree with Poenari...upon first whiff it makes my teeth hurt. Cheap whiskey and weed. But now...the whiskey blends beautifully with the weed. On a non-headache day this will be wonderful.

This is such an accurately odd scent. I grew up in churches with a pipe organ and this smells like it's a freshly oiled organ. It has a light metallic sweetness to it. And it is lovely. I would like a couple of more decants to fill my bottle, but I will reach for this one when I want something completely different.

Too much leather, not enough wood polish. My skin just amped the book leather and it gave me a headache.

This smells like the spookier, lightly sweeter version of House of mirrors. I love this scent. Spooky Glass for the win.

King Mandarin is a refreshing, tart, opulent citrus oil. The scent is uplifting and cheering and creates a strong sense of well-being. It is a relaxing fragrance that promotes sensuality through delight. Fresh: Orange peel. Fresh Orange peeled from the top so you can still smell the greenest part of the orange and the peel. Dry: Flat, long lasting, strong orange mixed with a lot of peel. Not a fan. So glad this is going to a new home.

EZEKIEL’S PHOENIX Another living creature we saw, full wondrous, such as man has never seen; ’twas near in scope to twice the eagle’s size, with plumage iridescent, rainbow-hued. Its breast appeared deep-dyed with purple’s shade, its legs were red like ochre, and its neck was furnished round with tresses saffron-hued; like a coxcomb did its crest appear, with amber-tinted eye it gazed about, the pupil like some pomegranate seed. I don't know what God or Goddess Beth invoked to create this scent...but THANK YOU!!! This is a delicious amber, pomegranate and saffron scent. It is fruity...but not sweet. Slightly incensy, and the saffron is not overpowering. This I NEED!!!!!!

Wet: smut and the insides of a freshly cut pumpkin. Dry.. freshly cut pumpkin. My skin ate the smut!

This is gorgeous. It smells like glass...I guess that's the amber and then I know this will sound weird but it smells like there is a crack. Like something off with the glassy amber. That's what's the visual I get when I wear it... perhaps it's the silvery note on the final drydown..but either way.. it's lovely.

This smells like a freshly bound leather book sitting a top polished bookcase made of fancy wood. I love it!💕💕

Jan de Bisschop Blackened tonka, patchouli, dragon's blood resin, and scorched oak. This is absolutely beautiful. The light sweet powdery of tonka calms the patchouli of the dragon and the oak just rounds it out beautifully. This scent is so well blended that I can't believe the notes listed. I just adore it! So, so glad I bought it.

Energy, will, and the manifested Word of the Magus. It is the generative process, the act of creation: ash, rowan, oak, and elder wood, polished with sweet resins but handworn, glowing with inner fire. From wet to dry, this a lighter version of Antkythera Mechanism, with a lighter wood. I imagine the mop with Mickey smells like this!

If you knit socks for me I REALLY REALLY need a stretchy cast on (if cuff down socks) or bind off (if toe up socks.) And both the stretchy cast on AND bind off for mitts. (I use Jeny's for both, myself, although a cable cast on is usually stretchy enough too.) I think the stretchy thing is one of those tics of being autistic. Odd indeed! Portents in here are amazing. There is fruit in this. Black currant is peeking through along with the lavendar with the barest hints of rose. There is something fruity, dark, and sensual about this. I don't smell the myrrh or the black musk. Everything is so well blended that nothing dominates. It's just kind of all mish mashed in there to create this heavenly scent. This is definitely a keeper!

This is one of my very favorites....it smells like one of the older theaters in NY I went to for Musicals when I lived in Jersey. It is lovely, eerie and gorgeous. I wish it was a perfume.

White apple, benzoin, and oudh. Slightly sweet apple, benzoin makes it much sweeter and the oude dries it out to keep it incensey on my skin this is truly one of the best apple scents I have ever had. This will get a lot of use and I may just need a back up before it goes away.

This is sweet coffee without the cream, amber, and chewy, sweetened chewy tobacco. I don't get oudh from this at all. I get coffee, amber, and sweet tobacco. I love it!

Plaster and spraypaint, mottled with buttermilk - sweet, chalky, and edging on sickly. White and golden amber beams of daylight pour through the belly of the scent, while oakmoss and Spanish moss add a touch of decay. Have you ever been in a hot, sticky, congested environment? Like in an old house with no air, or an old warehouse or garage with no air, and it is in the dead heat of summer? That's what this smells like. I have an instant scent memory from sniffing this of when I was a kid and went to my Great Aunt's home, it had no air conditioning, it was congested, and smelled like plastic (she kept plastic on the furniture). It was so hot, that I felt like I was choking. I had to go outside to get some fresh air. That's what this smells like...just add a hint of chalk. How Beth got the chalky note right...the world will never know. But it is dead on. This is how I imagined the vacant apartments smelled in the candyman movie. Esp. when the main character goes through the door with the drawing of Candyman on the door. This scent is so creepy...and evokes such a strange and horrible memory that I have to take it off never, EVER wear this again.
