White Chocolate, Black Raspberry, and Apricot Cordial Truffle
Dark Alice replied to thekittenkat's topic in Lupercalia
I don't know what the difference between this year's chocolates and last years...but it is a vast improvement. This actually smells like white chocolate. I want to eat my wrist. The raspberry is sweet and the apricot is juicy. I just want to eat my wrist! I don't know if I am going to keep this...but I am really glad that I got a chance to try it. -
I get whiffs of the slight sweetness of the vanilla, hints of cigar smoke and glorious patchouli and cardamom. This stuff is A.MAZ.ING!

Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?
Dark Alice replied to Donnababe's topic in Recommendations
I would like recommendations for something summery but bug resistant... Any suggestions? OR at least something that won't attract too many bugs..... -
What the hell? This is not supposed to work on me. Gardenia and I are not friends. We hate each other with a passion that won't die. But in this..with the bergamot and geranium and tobacco flower...it turns it a juicy, luscious floral. A little definitely goes a long way and it is beautiful. I am so glad I got this imp! It's a keeper!

So quince likes me....and how! Wet this goes on as fresh quince pie. As it dries the honey comes out but it's bitter. I think it's the tobacco. When it's completely it is an odd honeyish perfumey scent. Not a fan.

Have you ever smelled something that was so completely different that you fall in with it? Yep..this is how I feel about Prosperity. It's just gorgeous ginger cream (which is light) with hints of leather and frankincense. On the right day this will be gorgeous. So I will keep this bottle and enjoy it.

This is just leather. No pipe tobacco. No soft resins. No nothing. Just Leather. I already have a leather scent to fulfill my needs...so this will have to find a new home. *sigh*

In Bottle: Juicy lime and dark chocolate! On the skin: Juicy lime with the barest hints of dark chocolate! I own very few foody scents but this one has completely changed my mind. I will definitely be using this bottle up as it's so light I have to slather it!

Fresh green wood and furniture polish. Clean green wood. Now that this is dry it is actually quite pleasant. It smells like fresh snapped branches and green sap. Not a fan of the wet stage but the dry stage is quite refreshing.

Frankincense and chamomile. At first it's a little sharp...I think the chamomile is too strong...but as it dries down..my skin eats the chamomile and the frankincense remains. It's very good actually. The problem is that this has very little throw. I think I will keep my imp before I track down a bottle as I want to see how the frankincense ages.

I swear this smells like toasted bread with butter and hints of sugar. This is amazing. How the hell does Beth do this? I am not a foody person...but this is pretty amazing. I definitely want to eat toast, butter, and sugar but I don't think I want to smell like it.

Good God in heaven this stinks. Sickeningly, cloying honey. But not just straight up honey.....no...its watery honey. I have to wash this off. Bleh!

Definitely smell the vanilla Sandalwood. There are hints of leather in this...and it is spicy with hints of something metal. The metal in this is definitely the same metal from Carnivale Noir's Torture King and from Iron phoenix but it's not so harsh. These are iron fillings I can deal with. However, I think I can let this pass as it dries down and has virtually no throw on me.

This smells like the leather from a freshly made whip! It's alluring, dark, and dangerous but definitely not work appropriate. I think I will keep this one around....

Wet: Barest hints of red musk with florals. Drydown: Freakin florals man! No frankincense, my loving red musk has been killed dead by the freaking florals of doom. *sigh*

Well....again in record time my skin has eaten the citrus in this scent. Wet: Delicious fresh tangerines with hints of rose. And then my skin eats the citrus leaving rose. It's kind of a flat rose smell. Meh. Well...off to swaps with this one.

Foody graham cracker crust. Must be the khus plus the chestnut.....and minty rose geranium. This combination is odd and scary on my skin. Minty graham cracker crust. This has gotta go.

Well this started out beautiful. Light clean florals, with the barest hints of lavendar. THEN BAM! Lilac. Lilac is becoming a death note for me apparently b/c this has just turned into lilac single note.
-
Oddly...this has the barest hints of red wine in it, frankincense, white roses, with hints of beeswax. This is quite nice...but I think I will be fine with my last rose of summer.

This smells of rancid wine. Rancid wine with hints of grape. Must. Wash. Off.

Wet: Smells like burnt tire rubber in the imp. Now I am scared. Drydown: Strong leather and cognac. This one is too manly for me.
-
Balsam. Stinky balsam with hints of patchouli and frankincense. Medicinal Woods. This is way too medicinal for my tastes.

For once Cedar plays nice with my skin. The saffron keeps the cedar from becoming too strong and softens it up as well. However, my beloved Black currant is just not here. This is a soft saffron/cedar fragrance with no fruity black currant love.

Fresh Green Seawater. That is what came to mind when I first put this on. Completely dry it smells like the light blue waters of Koai that I have seen in pictures. I don't know when I will wear...but I plan on finding an excuse to where it somewhere.

Wet in the imp: Fresh Snake Oil and Honey. Drydown: Fresh Snake Oil and honey. But not a honey that makes me sick it's actually quite pleasant. It smells like Snake Oil and white honey. I think a partial of this is in order.
