Left His Nurse While In a Crowd
Dark Alice replied to pinkstardust420's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
Wet: Tea, chocolate, cream, and berries on the first whiff. This almost knocked me silly from the strength. Dry: Chocolate cake with red raspberries and sauce with a dollop of cream with hint of lemon tea on the side. I don't know how Beth puts all of this in one scent but she sure knows what she is doing. -
Licorice. Fresh black Licorice with the barest hints of freakin incense. God bless america I can't stand this. Must. Wash. Off.

Amber and cognac with hints of powdery dry alcoholic cleaner. This is the first amber that has ever gone powdery on me. I love the powder note and the amber and tagette are really smooth. Quite nice but the cognac is too much it smells clean yet boozy. At least I don't have to try and track this down.

No tea. No Cicadas. Just hints of red pepper + generic commercial perfume smell on my skin. *sigh*

I don't know what made me think this was for me. Generic, commercial, perfumey florals. Not a fan.
-
Wispy Iris, with powdery floral notes. It smells overly perfumey and clean almost commercial like. But it's not. Maybe this is the stuff dreams are made of in the world of Edgar Allen Poe?

Wet: Red currant...fruity pomegranate with rose and a hint of vanilla. Dry: Red fruity incense with a hint of dirt. Not earth...fresh soil. The fruit and incense are the main stays but the earth keeps switching out with Myrrh. This is the strangest scent I have ever tried But I do love it. I am so glad that I have some.

This started out as lush honey drizzled on peaches! And then came the magnolia.... It has taken over and that's all I smell. Which makes me very sad as this was the first honey and peach scent that actually worked on my skin. *sigh*

I will never understand Beth's winter notes. Sometimes they are minty, sometimes medicinal, and now in this it's just darn fizzy. This smells like a cold slightly medicinal fizzy violent soda that is slightly dry. But definitely soda and fizzy like, cold and fizzy. It's not for me but I am so glad I was able to try it.

Black Lace: How do I love the new formulation let me count the ways.... 1. MUCH Less tobacco and incense.... 2. MUCH less vanilla cotton... 3. The perfect blend of tobacco, cognac and vanilla, with just the barest hints of cotton. I just love this bottle and I am so glad that I could fall in love with this scent again!

fizzy, sorta carbonated, sparkling blends?

I would also say that the Champagnes from last year were all fizzy/ginger ales on my skin vs. Alcoholic Champagnes. These definitely had fizz to them. Also, Spinning Multicolored pinwheel, orange phoenix were also fizzy and carbonated like. -
I tried aged spooky and it was meh on me. Fresh...it's just perfect. I would have never thought that this would work. The rum and vanilla keep the peppermint from being to strong. It's absolutely delicious. Damn it...I now have to buy a bottle.

This just smells off. It smells like a metal pipe with sticky fresh blood rolled in basil. Do. NOT. WANT! Going to wash off now this disturbs me only on the olfactory level, but it invokes images of violence, pain, and blood as I sniff it.
-
This smells like bright oranges, perfume, and Gold metal. It's also making me itch. I am hoping that it's just interacting with the lotion I just put on b/c I do like this. I just don't know if it's bottle worthy.

wet: Metal..Lead in particular with hints of blood, cypress, and styrax. Dry: Metal with a cypress tree. For pete's sake I smell like Cypress trees. Of all the phoenixes I had such high hopes for this one. *sigh*

Most jewelry I wear is silver or white gold. And this oil truly reminds me of silver. the mugworth comes through...no pear in sight...but there is definite hint of softness and sweetness to this. I truly do enjoy this and I will have to track down a bottle.
-
I have never smelled banana incense before. But now....I have. It's interesting. I think I will keep this and wear it on days when I am in a fun mood.

Monsieur Petitbled's Frivolous Wheeled Footwear

:wet: There is no red sexy musk in this. Just fake cherry cough syrup. Drydown: Very HERBAL cherry flavored cough syrup. So not a fan of this. Going to swap this one off now. -
Wet: Brown musk single note. Don't ask why but it is all that I can smell. It's soft and feathery with a little hints of powder. Then out of nowhere the sweetness of the rose comes through. Not harsh...just like watching a red rose fall on a pillow. This is interesting...and is definitely worth keeping my decant. I just know if it's enough for a bottle.

This smells like the fuzz on a fresh peach! Not quite fruity but slightly floral. Peach blossom with fuzziness. AND then the Jasmine comes......And ruins everything. I smell like a fresh bouquet of jasmine and gardenia soap. Must wash off now.....*sigh*
-
Eucalyptus and mint. No dirt, no true ice, no nothing! Maybe my skin is revolting since I am getting over this cold/sinus infection thing. Somehow I doubt it though. *sigh*
-
Lemon verbena, frankincense and patchouli. This is all I get. It's quite lovely...I just don't know if it's bottle worthy. Completely drydown : Golden lemon verbena and frankincense. *sigh*

This is lovely. Truly lovely. The pimento berry adds just a hint of fruitiness with vanilla and the sage from keeping this being too sweet or too herbal. I see a bottle or at least partial bottle of this in my future. ETA: I lied. The final drydown turned everything beautiful into crap. Freakin pimento berry ruined everything.
