I'm one of those freaks that actually LIKES the buttery smell, so I wasn't taken aback when I opened my imp and the smell of melted butter wafted out. Then I put it on my skin. The pumpkin appears, its very light, followed by clove and nutmeg, which my nose misreads as cinnamon. But then 20 minutes later, the pumpkin is gone. Poof. Not a trace left on my wrists. I'm still getting pumpkin on my inner elbow, but that's not where I want it to be. Boo. However, what's left of the scent smells really good, and I'll keep my imp but i may not get a full bottle. I have Bengal and Faustus for my cinammon/spicey kicks.

I am very dissapointed with the way this blend turned out on my skin. When I tried Dragon's Heart at will call earlier in the month, it smelled perfect on my skin: warm musk, sweet dragon's blood and a hint of currant that made me smell sexily musky and warm all at once. But when I applied from my imp today, all I got was generic powder. Now I know what people mean when they say a scent turned to "baby powder" on them. For the most part, I have had AMAZINGLY cooperative skin chemistry, with the exception of maybe Wanda. This is the second blend that my skin chemistry just crapped out on. Where was all that sexy musk and dragon's blood that I had smelled earlier? Then I remembered. I was on my PERIOD when I tried it. No wonder. I will give the imp one more shot, but if it doesn't work, I guess I'll have to swap it. Such a pity. Oh well, I've had such amazing luck with most scents I shouldn't be too heartbroken that this one didn't work on me.

On my skin I get the rum and bourbon right away, with a touch a graveyard dirt sprinkled on top. I was very weary of the dirt note being unpleasant smelling to me, but on me it's a very faint touch. Very nice. Hmm, I might like dirt smells after all. An hour later I get a faint whiff of funeral flowers...but nothing else! All the other notes have faded on my wrist. Wahhhhhh! However, when I smell the insides of my elbows the scent is still strong...I'm getting oakmoss, dirt and the flowers. Very lovely and evocative, but I don't know that I want to get a bottle if it's just going to last on the insides of my elbows. It's a little awkward to walk around smashing my elbow to my face all day! However I do like the scent, and i will keep the imp and try slathering a bit more. A solid B, graded down because there is almost no throw.

Today was the first day I tried this imp. I apply it and I immediately get the patchouli, but it's a little drier and smokier than the patchouli I usually wear...I re-read the description later, and it was black patchouli, which makes sense. I've only tried one of the BPAL ambers before this...and amber appears to like me, which is a good thing! While I'm on my period at least. Being on my period amplifies the amber, because yesterday I wore Golden Priapus, and that was all vanilla and amber. Four hours later and I'm getting mostly patchouli and amber. None of it has turned into the dreaded powder smell I've heard so many others complain of. Thank God. Cinammon usually comes out loud and clear on my skin, I'm suprised I don't smell more cinammon in here, the other stuff must be overpowering it. But I have Bengal for my cinammon fixation, so I aint complain'. I'm curious to see how the amber will smell when I'm not on my period, so I think I'll give Sin another few tries before I consider getting a bottle. Verdict: B+

A very dark scent. When I first apply it, it's so strong it nearly knocks you over, but after half an hour, those strong little flowers settle down. I feels like I'm walking around late at night in a garden, and the dew is still dripping on the flowers. I can't tell these notes apart to save my life, but it's such a well-blended scent that I don't care. It smells very purple yet crisp and white at the same time. I think I'm in love. I might get a bigger bottle later on, if I run out of my imp. B+.

This is the first imp I've tried that my skin did NOT take to very well. It smelled like an overwhelming mixture of booze and cleaning fluid, which I immediately hated. I hope it doesn't smell like this on my skin, I thought... I apply it, and I immediately dislike it. The boozy smell is WAY too strong, and it is giving me a headache. An hour later the flowers and the skin musk warm up the fragrance a bit, and it smells a little softer, but it's still a really overwhelming unpleasant chemical smell. I'm going to give this another try and see if it works out better, but for the meantime, a bottle is a definite no.

Freebie from the lab! From the description, it seems like it would be a heavy and incensy scent, but I was quite suprised when I applied it to my wrists. First there's a light fruity smell..some have compared it to pineapples, and I think they're quite right. Not sure what note that is, but I likes it. Then there is this light, juniper scent, which makes me imagine I'm in a forest, but it's not a heavy smell. Very pleasant. Then there's a light spice, which must be the frankinscense. Verdict: Another big bottle. I wouldn't look twice at a scent like this from the description, just because it didn't appeal to me right away, and other scents sounded more exciting than this one, but I was wrong! Beth knows best. And here's a crazy happy guy!

I'm not sure if my nose is right, but the sweet pea and the lilies seem to come out the strongest on this one, with a hint of pear right at the beginning. The pear fades fast, but the other notes stay strong on me(not that I'm complaining!) After half an hour had passed, I thought wait...something smells familiar. I couldn't guess what the scent was, then it hit me...suntan lotion! That must be the honeysuckle. It smells like a prettier suntan lotion, but with light gentle florals that don't turn soapy on me. I like it alot, but I'm not sure if I want a big bottle just yet...I'll hold out and see if I like any florals better than this one. B+

It may be a little too early to call, since I've only sampled 7 scents...but based on the fact that I was sniffing my wrist every five seconds, I would say that Dorian is my favorite BPAL scent so far. I was afraid to try it because "Gender neutral" translated to "Too masculine" in my mind. It smelled just as lovely on my wrists and neck as it did in the bottle. The light vanilla tea was BEAUTIFUL, and the musks smelled so lovely and light that it felt like it was a part of my skin. I think I like light musks so much because they are so close to the way my own skin smells. This lasted me over 12 hours, and yet it wasn't ovewhelming at all. Just perfect. This will be the first big bottle I will buy. A+

Another scent that stayed true on my skin(meaning it hadn't changed much from the bottle. No complaints here! It smells like milk, honey, and grains, just as promised. The honey note is delicious and makes me feel like eating my wrist. It's such a warm scent that it makes me feel slightly drowsy sniffing it, in a good way. It's perfect for counter-acting this cold winter weather. It's the scent equivalent of a cozy snuggle. Definitley getting a bottle of this. Deliiiiicious!

The notes on this one stayed true to what the description on the bottle was. I could definitley smell the cherry blossom, bamboo, and a hint of ozone in there. When I wore this it's the scent of what I imagine Tokyo to look like. High end fashion, sleek metalic skyscrapers...oh my god this is the perfect scent for spring. It's light and lovely and it makes me want to pay a visit to Japan. Mmm. Suprisingly long lasting as well. Even though fades away after 6 hours, there are still traces of it on my skin. bottle time!

Imp: Pure red rose Wet: freshly picked red rose, and I can get a hint of the leather underneath. But's that's all it is, a hint. Dry: Doesn't change all that much from it's wet stage on my skin. But now the leather gets a little deeper as it dries. It's a little faint now, but the scent is awesome, it makes me feel like I'm walking through the rose bushes in our backyard. I just wish the leather note was a little stronger. Overall, a keeper. It's big bottle time!

This is the first imp I have ever tried, so of course I was hopping with excitement over it. In the bottle: Dark vanilla. Wet: Um....really burnt vanilla. This is the most popular scent. Is everyone just a big vanilla fan? Oh, wait, now I'm getting a play-doh note. One hour later: Finally, the spices are taking over. Vanilla is still there, but now it smells darker and spicer and mmmm, is it yummy. Five hours later: Is that patchouli I detect? Score! My skin loves the patchouli. This is a perfect mix of sugar and spice...NOW I can see why people love it so much. Verdict: definitley buying a bottle.
