I just received my decant of this It's very smoky, smoky and dark. It's got a wood smell to it, and it doesn't smell SWEET to me the way Midnight on the Midway does. It has that sort of incensey-rain-heavy smell that the atmosphere has before a storm, which I really like. As it dries down, I'm really amping the wood, I guess -- I'm mostly smelling wood and ozone. bottle worthy: nah.

I'm worried about the honey in Alice -- I HATE HATE HATE honey smell =/ BUT on the plus side for any carnation lovers -- right now LUSH has their Potion Lotion available again!
-
So, okay. Maiden, Morocco, Maenad & Alice. In Brisingamen, I'm worried about the amber. I have this weird problem with amber. I've been eyeing Clemence for many reasons -- the carnation is just a plus on that one, the whole damn thing sounds great to me!

okay, so. I'm obsessed with finding carnation scents. I'm going to put together a carnation-y imp order, so let's talk business: what should I include? I think obviously Maiden and Morocco, but how carnationy is Bathsheba? And how much other stuff comes out for most of you in Zarita? Also, it seems like I should try to get my hands on Pink Moon 07... what other carnation LEs should I hunt down? and what is Hod?

This is a rich, spicy dark chocolate on me. It smells like straight chocolate in the bottle and once I put it on, it mellows into autumny spices and deliciousness! I love this so much more than I thought I would I never thought I was very foody but this one does it for me! I'm trying to decide if I want to keep the bottle though, because while I love it, I am uncertain of how often I would wear it. I can see it being divine with Red Lantern though!

In the Bottle: Ozone-y chill, with strong lily Wet: LILY! Lily and winter's chill. Dry: My skin amps the lily -- it's pretty much the only thing you can smell for a while. After it is on a while, the scent begins to mellow into ice-crusted flowers, keeping the piney cold note going strong. I am in LOVE with this scent! I knew by the descriptions that L'inverno was the one I would like best, and I was so happy when I got it in my quiz!

Apparently the Lab's fig note smells like Irish Springs soap on my skin. In the imp this blend is all orange and figgy and GREAT and I was so excited -- and as soon as it started to dry, it started becoming soap. Pretty soon I smelled like soap. Just soap. And it wouldn't go away. Swap pile.

In the imp: Jasmine and lavender! This bodes well. Wet: JASMINE. Dry: JASMINE. So I've learned something about me and jasmine: while I like this lovely floral as a room scent or a candle scent, I really don't like it on my skin. At all. I have a jasmine candle I'm really fond of, and I lvoe lavender, so I ordered this one in hopes that it would make me smell as pretty as my room. Unfortunately there's no lavender to speak of in this on my skin -- the jasmine gets amped to high heaven and covers over anything else. There wasn't even a whisper of honeysuckle near my wrist. I ended up giving this to a friend, who ADORES it. It served her well -- now she's made her first BPAL order, which includes a 5ml of Twilight!

I am so surprised by how much I like this It's so smooth and fruity on my skin, with no cinnamony smell. It's mainly citrus and sugar, with a touch of medicine underneath. It fades so FAST though -- this is probably the fastest fade of any BPAL except The Unicorn. I'm disappointed because I really like how it smells on me, even if it is maybe a touch too sweet. I'll enjoy my imp, but it's definitely not a bottle scent. Really nice for summer, though!

In the imp this smells like IRISH FUCKIN' COFFEE. It is awesome. I did not wear this myself, but rather put it on a male friend. I thought the scent would suit him. As he put it on the coffee smell was really, really strong. On the drydown, the smell of the wood started to come out followed by the dusty page smell of old books. As he wore it for a few hours, the coffee faded off completely and the books came to the top, leaving him smelling faintly of polished wood tables and mostly of the old library books he loves. He LOVES this blend and is contemplating a bottle.

Dried roses, rose leaf, Spanish moss, oakmoss and deep brown earth. Oh. My. God. I have waited a long time before adding Zombi to my order, because I was convinced that I didn't like roses. I finally decided to be chancey with my BPAL ordering and try to redefine what scents I do actually like... and wow. In the imp, Zombi smells like freshly turned earth. It's intoxicating. I think I smelled the imp for a while before I even put some on, because it was that good. Wet, Zombi still smells like freshly turned earth. I wasn't getting any rose scent from it until it began to dry, and then my skin warmed the rose scent and I could smell it everywhere around me. I love this. It's not the cloying ridiculous rose smell I associate with rose perfumes... it's the smell of a flower, a real one. I'm so enchanted by this... I may need a bottle. Zombi has a LONG wearlength on me, something like ten hours. It smells beautiful the entire time. It also has a good throw -- I smell it around me in the air.

From this I get velvety chocolate and an almost astringent herbal scent when it's wet. As it dries the herbal smell fades out, leaving a smoky chocolate smell lingering on my skin. It doesn't have much throw or a very long wearlength, but I really like it. It's too foody for everyday wear though, unless possibly mixed with Red Lantern in the middle of winter.

What?! This scent is so very Aquarius that it seems like I almost can't smell it once it dries! It's lovely and creamy and much sweeter than I thought it would be -- I was anticipating more bite than this delivered, but I'm not too upset about it. After about an hour it smells more herbal, which pleases me. I'm really amazed by how much throw this has.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

What GC scents can be layered to/already smell like The Shivering Boy? Damn I wish The One hadn't turned out to be an LE..... -
This. This is it. This is my FAVOURITE blend. Cold and windy and winter while still remaining sweet, like the blush of cheeks and lips in the cold. I ADORE this scent. It has a strong hold for me, lasting quite a while, and the ozone-y snow note is bright the entire time. This is brilliant. I shall now proceed to hoarde it.

I absolutely adore this one. The blend comes out very sweet and crisp on me, for some reason, with the hint of lime being one of my favourite parts about it. As it dries down it becomes more salt/fresh air smell, which is also really nice -- the only thing I don't like about it is that it only lasts.... haha, 5 hours. Well, okay. That's not too bad!

Bottle: Sugary sweet fruits Wet: Almost SICKLY sweet; this one smells too honey-like for me Drydown: ... still too sweet. I'm really sad about this, but I blame the amber. I don't know if it's just me but all I am getting from this scent is SWEET and I like things a little heavier & muskier than that. Finally: Swap pile, or else I'll pour the whole vial in a bath and not think twice about it

This scent is incredible. I am absolutely in love with it -- and why shouldn't I be? Vetiver is my love, and patchouli as well -- this blend had everything just right, almost as if it were made for me I can't stop sniffing my wrists when I have it on. The final dry-down fade is a dusty, autumnal leaf smell -- whoever mentioned decay was RIGHT ON and I. Am. In love. I may have to purchase another bottle of this before it's gone!!

I was really, really hoping that Seraphim would be wonderful. I had such high expectations, but to my dismay I found that once I put it on, it went all... well, for lack of a better term, old-lady-perfume-y on me. It smelled so nicely on incense in the bottle, I was very happy; but once on me it turned. I'm not sure why this is, but I'm really sad about. I wanted so much to like this. Oh well! Swap pile

I am in LOVE with this one. It's dusty, herbal, crisp and faintly sweet on me. I get the sweet note others have been describing but it's nothing overbearing. As I keep sniffing my wrist as it wears a bit it is turning to a more "clean" kind of dryer sheet-ish smell, but I adore that type of smell. Green is a lovely word for this blend. Depending on how long it lasts I will buy a bigger bottle.

In the bottle -- very tangy, sharp and spicy. I get the clove almost instantly. On wet -- I don't get cherry or fruit at ALL from this! It smells almost like incense in a shop on me, which is very odd. Almost like nag champa? Am not sure if I like this. on dry -- It's settled down into nothing but myrrh. Warm, incensey, myrrh, I assume. It's a very heavy scent, I'm not sure if I will use my imp up or not due to the fact that I can't really come up with a situation, as a previous reviewer said, where it's appropriate to wear this. I will feel odd wearing it at work today.

the unicorn -- in the bottle: very perfume-y, strong and sharp to the nose. on me wet: on me wet the scent is very sharp, herbal and clear. it smells icy. on me dry: sharply flowery but mellowing, still herbal but warmer. gardenia? weird. hours later: faded quickly. The Unicorn is a very pretty, feminine scent -- but it's just not for me. I think I'm just not much for pretty floraly scents like this, at least not on me. It's not quite heavy enough, not dark enough for me to wear on a regular basis & it also faded quickly. However, it is a beautiful scent, I think, for people who prefer lighter, more flowery scents. EDIT: On further wear... This scent really doesn't have much staying power on me, which is a shame because the second time I wore it I liked it much more. It stays feminine and crisp, but still tumbling with flowers -- I suppose if I were to wear this much, though, I would have to do it in a locket dealie, so it would last longer.
