Black Forest is very *very* piney - and definitely smells like that sort of forest. Normally, just-woody forests, I'd suggest zombi or ulalume.

As soon as I read Beth's description of how she came to formulate this one, I ordered a 5ml straight away That's in an order that's still on it's way: but I got a freebie Imp in my recent order anyway, and oh wow I'm so glad I have more coming. In the vial: Cold and refreshing: I got the mint immdiately, but only after a couple of sniff anything else. However, it's not a single type of mint - spearming or peppermint - more a complex layered minty scent. On me: This actually cooled my skin when I applied it: wonderful as I was stuck in a hot hotel room without air conditioning I put it on just before I went to bed, and was struck by this initial cooling. After a moment or two though, the minty scent evaporated and I was left surrounded by a cloud of irridescent sweetness: I do get the sparkle of champagne as well as a crisper note that must be the aquatics. Over time: Good grief. Not sure if I can blame this on the scent, but wearing it that night I had the most amazingly vivid dreams. I woke up still smelling wonderful.

I ordered this one for a couple of reasons... I adore the apricot in March Hare and especially Depraved, and noticed from the reviews that both are very prominent in this scent. Orange blossom is also one of my all-time favourite scents, and I'm still on a quest to find the perfect one. So, I ordered a 5ml of Katharina, and I'm trying it out for the first time today. In the bottle: Initially, I was disappointed as this smelled exactly like Depraved to me, the same richly fruity, slightly fermentingly decayed apricot scent. However, on a couple of deeper sniff, the musk came through a little more. Still no orange blossom though. On me: This is definitely a lot lighter than Depraved: the white musk definitely lifts it. I'm wearing this as a daytime scent, and it's hanging around me in a sweet and gentle cloud. Over time: I'm still not getting an identifiable orange blossom note, but this is beautiful. It's shiny and mellow, like a pool of sunshine puddled on cream satin sheets.

Zombi layered with ulalume would be perfect... I was actually just thinking this last night as I went out walking after the rain...

I know that I got much too excited when I saw that you guys had got the delay down to being only 3 weeks behind and thought that you were seeing some light at the end of the tunnel... I'm trying to train myself to forget all about the orders I've placed for at least a month, unless I'm told otherwise that they've gone out earlier than expected. I am desperately longing for the 'one-day' when the Lab has an integrated order placing and tracking system and we can just log in and see the real status for ourselves. Think of all the hassle that could save! For me, I don't care - really I don't! - if an order takes 2 months as long as I know that's how long it'll be (I should say, I don't know anything about any Lab plans to do this, I'm just wishing!) I'd just like to add another huge thank you to Beth for sorting out a recent order of mine that had some problems: I'm excitedly anticipating its arrival. I am grateful.

I've not tried Hellcat, but that first description sounds a lot like Gluttony to me: have you tried that one?

I know you said ignore, but *hugs* for painful teeth Paypal doesn't actually make life any easier from an information point of view: the 2 latest orders I've placed have just been a case of sending the money via paypal with the actual order details in the comment field. Apart from the email from paypal themselves, I have no way of knowing if this has been received by the Lab, and they don't seem to be sending out confirmation of shipping emails. (Sorry if this comes across as critical, Lab People, I know you're all very busy right now with Nella away. I guess you get very frustrated at people like me asking for confirmations of shipping and whatnot. I just wish there was an easy way of letting people know what was going on with their orders. I know there isn't right now, and I'm still ordering stuff, so it's my own fault I'm impatient I guess...) I'm going to shut up now!

Is the lab experiencing email problems at the moment? I know that it was mentioned that it might take a day or two to get a reply, but I mailed on the 16th (last Wednesday) and I've not heard anything. If the rest of you are experiencing the same kind of lag in email replies, I won't worry, but if it's just me I should resend. I'm a bit anxious as it's concerning an order that should have shipped on June 5th according to Nella, and it's not turned up...

I think it might just be my chemistry, but Villain turned completely seasidey on me: not a trace of any of the listed ingredients, just lots of sea, sunshine and sand.

Um... it's actually not an "order", per se. A 5mL of Veil had been accidentally left off of a previous (April?) order, and it's just been hanging around in limbo. I have pending orders for May 26 and June 2, and I just assumed it would be tacked onto one of them. Thus, I was very surprised and excited to receive today's package. I got my 5mL of Veil, plus imps of The Unicorn, The Hesperides, Alecto, Hellfire and Magdalene. This is exactly what it must feel like to win the lottery. I have already begun a sweet and innocent tryste with The Unicorn. Oh! Wonderful! I can't wait to try Unicorn. *glows*

Has anyone got the non-tied Imps yet? Just wondering how they look... (Red Jezebel and I joked at the weekend that instead of tags the Lab would be getting someone to hand-etch the glass with the name of the scent... but my money is actually on sticky labels ) [merged with the other 'what do they look like' thread ~qs]

This is the problem with the tension between running a corporate business (rules, policies) and a still-professional but friendly one. I guess many of us viewed our dealings with the Lab as part transaction, part a discussion with friends. While the professional thing to do would of course be to place another order, the people at the lab are so approachable that it doesn't seem wrong to just mail and say 'By the way, can I just add...' I shan't do that in future though.
