What do bottles and labels look like?

I agree with you totally ... that is so un-cool. However I have to say that it is very generous of you to allow someone if they ask you and give you credit. When I sold on eBay (which has been forever and a day ago) I always wanted to use my own pic of the actual item so people can see exactly what they are getting. I just felt it was in both parties best interest. I've been guilty of using someone else's photo when reselling a bottle I bought from them, but that was a long time ago and before I finally had my own camera. TwilightEyes is extremely generous for allowing this person (whom I've bought from before, and she's a good person but still...) to use her photos, even with credit given. It was very rude to just download and slap them up without even asking first. Very rude.
  2. I agree with ZZ on this, and I would never have known had not a kind forumite sent me a sniffie of Voodoo Queen not too long before the Lupercalia was released.

What do bottles and labels look like?

I got a CnS for my Election Day bottles either Monday or Tuesday, can't remember which. I so hope they come in today! I bought 2 bottles of each (my usual for very special LEs and Lunacies) so I'm also hoping for the full political spectrum in imps!

What do bottles and labels look like?

Here's the Rose-Red 2008 bottle I received just the other day: I wonder if there are other labels? I'm planning to buy another bottle of Rose Red to hoard, so I hope so! edited to add: Wow, Tramp! Great photos!

I got my Lilith line bottles this morning, and I got a different Lilith Victoria than the first one posted, so I uploaded it to the Gallery: Gallery Here it is, if the gallery link doesn't work:

Chaos Theory IV: Edge of Chaos

Apples! Apples, apples, apples...and an undernote of wood! This is a great blend sold to me by fellow forumite Jadys, and I love it! I'm sorry it didn't work for her, but so very happy she sold it to me. In fact, this is the latest in several Chaos IV purchases from forumites that have succeeded tremendously. In the bottle, this is all apple...a green, tart apple (peel and all!), but not the icy blend of Snow Glass Apples. Only after it's applied to my wrists and dried a bit does the woody note come up, and smells so delightfully of an apple just picked from the tree. As time goes on, the woody note fades away again, leaving the tart apple note to slowly drift away. This blend has excellent throw and medium stay. It's a keeper!

Chaos Theory IV: Edge of Chaos

I am a long-time deep woods, pine/fir/balsam scent-aholic. So when I saw a forumite's recent sale page which included an Edge of Chaos blend (Chaos IV) described as strong woody. Oh boy, was my immediate thought! So when ChaosIV: CMXLVII (947) arrived, and I hurriedly unscrewed the cap to take a deep whiff, I had pretty much made up my mind beforehand I was going to love it. I do. ZOMG, I do love this blend! It takes the best of Snow Moon, Nocnitsa, Black Forest, and mixes them all up into a glorious deep woods scent which has no light and no end. There aren't any snow or water notes (that I can tell) and there is some wood to this blend, which makes it even better in my mind. It calls to my mind those early boy-girl parties where the uninitiated were taken on snipe hunts in the dark woods...better, of course, on a moonless night but good any time as long as one was the initiating rather than the initiatee...am I right? In any case, this is a wonderful scent and I'm sharing it with Mr. Stellans, on whom it smells divine -- or at least it did once I hugged him with my oily arms and it got on him, hee! Verdict: this is a keeper, and I'm so grateful to GoldenRubee for the chance to wear it.

Chaos Theory IV: Edge of Chaos

I swapped with herkissofshame for CTIV: DCCXCIX (799), which arrived today. Since I already tried out my scent du jour (Blood Garden), I washed up and applied my new Chaos Theory. Instant love ensued! One of my all time favorite LE releases is Twisted Oak Tree (from last year's Halloween Haunted House group), and DCCXCIX could be, if not a long-lost twin, at least a close relation. The ozone note, the woods, the resins -- all are there. Perhaps the only thing not there is the slight scent of burned wood (lightning strike on the oak tree? who knows?). The clean aquatic scent is deepened, darkened, and utterly demonized by the resins in this blend, and I love it so much! The throw is amazing, long-lasting, and just as good in my scent locket as it is on my wrists!

Chaos Theory IV: Edge of Chaos

CXLVI (146): This blend starts off with a strong pine note and something which smells astonishingly clove-like. Now this is a combo I would not have thought would be good, but it is surprisingly nice to smell, especially since the pine doesn't overshadow the other notes. In fact, this blend puts me very strongly in mind of Yule celebrations, and the incense I like to burn at midwinter. Yes, there is also a smoky undernote to this as well...almost incense-y, which quickly overtakes the initial pine. I traded for this bottle with another forumite, because it didn't work with her skin chemistry. It does with mine, fortunately, and I love it!

What do bottles and labels look like?

I know! Mine (via ComicCon boothie -- thanks again so much, alhbooks!) got here yesterday, and the cobalt bottle surprised me. I thought the Lab had quit using them a couple of years ago... The blue suits the coldness of the scent as well as the art of the label very well! edited to thank the right person, correct a verb tense, and add the phrase 'label art.'

Chaos Theory IV: Edge of Chaos

CLXXI - also known as CTIV: 171 -- Cloves! Cloves and fruit -- but not the apricot of Depraved, nor the cherry of Blood Kiss, nor yet the fig of Hetairae. It's almost like the Ecstasy of Passion, but not so much amber, yay! Amber doesn't always play nice with my chemistry. This is a lot like Clémence, but no patchouli, and kind of deeper somehow and a bit sweeter. This is a keeper, yay! I may have to play this fun game of BPAL Roulette again... OK, after a bit, this is even better! OMG, there is such luscious smoothness in this blend! Definitely sweet clove, but there is something else that is keeping this soft and smooth and just sexy. Mr. Stellans approves, hee!
  13. I am totally enthalled with the lovely wet woodiness that is Twisted Oak Tree. Anybody know of any more readily available similar blends? Thank you!
  14. on me, it's more Sea of Glass but much better. The metal note keeps it from Snow-Flakes IMO, and the less sweetness is more than minute with my skin chemistry, which I am the first to admit is weird. I really wasn't sure I'd like this one, but I do. It may be a skin-only blend though, rather than locket-able. Many metallic notes are headache-inducing in my scent lockets, but are fine on skin.
  15. If it was my dad? (or my husband) I would trust my own sense of smell! My husband has about four things that he says perfumes smell like: baby powder, cookies, an old lady and patchouli. At least that's when he doesn't like them very much, otherwise he'll say, "Oh, that one's nice." Mine has about 3 replies when asked for his opinion on my smell choices: 1) Okay 2) Ugh 3) smells like carp dough (this is not a good thing, it means icky sweet/imitation vanilla flavoring smell) I've just about given up asking his opinion, and just waiting to see if he smells and smiles instead. To keep this on topic, does anyone else think Jezirat al Tennyn reminds them of Singing Moon, or is it just me?

    Pine and Evergreen goodness

Kenjari, have you tried Snow Moon? I have an aversion to anything mint which eliminates most cold/snow/ice blends for me, but Snow Moon? Is abolute piney, deep forest love!

    Pine and Evergreen goodness

I didn't see anyone mention Nocnitsa.... lightless fir wood, nighttime air, wet forest mosses and upturned earth. There is a surprising sweetness to this blend when worn in a scent locket, but it's all fir on my skin. Both are absolutely delectable!

Aww, the label for Beltane '08 is seriously adorable. Thank you for posting it! yes, thank you so much! I too love the Beltane label, and I actually like the new Hexennacht label as well, and the blend smells wonderful!

    Sugar Moon 2008

When I first opened the bottle of Sugar Moon, my heart sank. All I could smell was burnt sugar, with a slight plastic-y note behind. Was this going to be another Lunacy to break my heart, like Old Moon did? *cue angels singing* Hallelujah! This blend reacts to my skin chemistry in such a way as to put the most expensive blend in the world to shame! My skin sings with the ecstasy of the wonderful Smut-but-better, SnakeOil-but-better, SnakeCharmer-but-better scent of Sugar Moon! Even my husband, whose normal opinion of my scents range from "What's that?\" to "You smell like carp dough!? likes the smell of Sugar Moon on me. And that's a good thing.

What do bottles and labels look like?

it smells really good too -- all melony goodness to my nose. Yum!
  21. This is on my bottle short list also. I didn't like aquatic notes much, really, until Beth and her magic lab entered my life! I'm even discovering some blend with a small (very, very small) mint note which not only don't make me sick, but that I actually like (Moon of Ice, for example).
  22. I second this. Tombstone has more of a woodsy note, and lacks the wintergreen that some Love's Philosophy bottles have, but it does seem to be the same vanilla. Edited to add: I really like Love's Philosophy, but Tombstone is one of my all-time favorites. ITA. The only thing that put me off about LP was the wintergreen impression I got from it, but Tombstone is all love.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

It's funny, but you do associate a smell with a person. I smell Angel and it starts minor heart palpitations because I'm worried I'll run into my ex-boss. For me, Chanel #5 is what my mother wore when she wore perfume (my dad is horribly allergic). So while I like the smell, I would never be able to wear it. More importantly, I shouldn't want to *hug* random strangers just because they smell like my mother... Wow! My daughter said the exact same thing! In fact, Chanel No.5 was my scent too (the eau de cologne though, not the perfume which I found too strong) until I discovered BPAL. Now I don't wear anything but BPAL and my daughter says she doesn't 'recognize' me by smell any more! On the other hand, I've totally enabled her with the Salon Sunflowers!

What do bottles and labels look like?

Thank you so much, BBA! That is totally not what I expected ... good thing I didn't go down the script-romantic font path I was thinking about. It looks like the scent name is in a sort of typewritery font ... interesting! THANK YOU! It puts me in mind of Christian typing his romantic stuff in Moulin Rouge...
  25. Oh, this makes me want to try Snow Moon. I was born and raised in the NC mountains. *is now homesick* PM me; I think I'll be able to enable you with a decant...
