I have no idea what went wrong here, but I can't stand this scent. It's compared to a lot of blends I like -Black Lace, Perversion but it somehow doesn't work. I'm guessing it might be the florals. Honestly, it smells like a sachet to me. I think there's rose in this blend.

When I first sniffed the imp, I smelled something floral and was worried. But I also smelled something else, something darker and almost musky. I really wasn't sure if it was going to be a love it or hate it sort of thing. When I first put it on, I smelled juicy blackberries and maybe even a melon scent, with a dark musk and some creamy floral notes. Kali is definitely a dark, sexy decadent scent..like the first review this does remind me of wearing perfume at a nightclub and dancing all night long. Unfortunately, it morphs majorly once dry and gets a bit too floral, and turns soapy. Still it's not a horrible scent on me.

I sniffed this in the imp and it took me quite awhile to get up the courage to test it. I've had some very, VERY bad luck with anything even remotely floral lately so I was unsure. Finally I got up the courage and tested it out. Color me surprised. This smells completely different on my skin than in the imp. In the imp I smelled a very sweet floral, but on my skin, it's all syrupy, smoky amber with a lovely, almost juicy floral behind it. I can't pick out all the notes, but I agree with some of the other reviews that this is a deep, dark, purple scent that is really gorgeous. Not to mention, rose is usually a NOTE OF DOOM on me and this has yet to turn soapy or overly floral. Usually I can't wear florals at all, but I can wear this (perhaps because my skin generally gets along with amber, lavender and ceder very well?).

This smells like well....gingerbread. Exactly like gingerbread. If that's what you're going for, then you'll achieve it with this scent. It doesn't morph on me at all, just gently fades after a few hours. I think it'll be a nice scent to wear on occasion, but not really my favorite. I'll enjoy my imp but probably won't go after more. I like my foodie scents to have a bit more depth. ETA: 2007 version.

This is gorgeous. Immediately I smell the black coconut, slightly sweet without being syrupy, and smoky velvetier, topped off with a hint of Snake Oil. It actually reminds me a lot of Snake Charmer without the plum. It's sexy, it's smoky, it's dark, it's mysterious, it's fantastic Instant favorite.

At first, all I smelled was peppermint. Cool and refreshing, remarkably lovely on my skin. Then a sugary, musky vanilla scent started in, and I was very very pleasantly surprised! This scent is love and it goes to my automatic top 10 for sure.

Probably. I was lucky enough to be gifted a testable sniffie, which I was THRILLED to have. As soon as I smelled it I was like "I know this smell...." and was like "YES THIS WAS MY FAVORITE PERFUME EVER!" The only reason I didn't replace it was because, like someone else said, the throw isn't great and it doesn't last long. I may have to replace it though because I have been craving Spanked ever since I smelt it. There is like one test more and I promised it to Venneh....but I have to admit, it's hard to leave it in the vial! Mmmmmm, Spanked. THEY NEED TO BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! MOAR EXCLAMATION POINTS! -

I wouldn't say it's AS good, just that the scents are similar. Kind of like how snake oil and snake charmer are in the similar scent category and share some notes, but they're not THE SAME. I did sniff this and immediately think of the other one, though. Yes, I had the same experience. -

I originally found it at Whole Foods, but they don't always have it. Worth a shot, certainly. -

So, I love Spanked. It's probably the best BPAL I've ever smelled. Ever. In any case, it reminded me a lot of another favorite perfume of mine, by Pacifica Perfumes. It's called Spanish Amber. http://www.pacificaperfume.com/woods-resins/spanish-amber/spray-perfume It comes in a spray, a solid perfume, a soap, a candle and body butter. All good products. It doesn't last very long but it's a very similar smell to my nose. Of course it's not exactly the same and I'd probably prefer the bpal, but if you're on a budget or you're like me and just cannot get your mitts on some Spanked, try this. -
This is awful. It smells nothing like I imagined -I was thinking something Gypsy Queen-esque without the floral notes. Instead, I got something that smells like a very strong men's cologne. It reminds me a lot of Polo Ralph Lauren. I'm really, really disappointed.

Wild plum, red musk, tuberose, calla lily, heliotrope, pimento, ylang ylang and beeswax beneath a dark haze of sinister purple-hued incense smoke. I smelled sharp florals and red musk in the imp, and I really hoped it would work out. But tuberose is and always has been a note of doom on me. It dominates the whole blend and it's all I can smell. A rosy, soapy, grandma smell. Damn skin chemistry. This could have been a real winner. On someone who's skin behaves with florals, this scent would be awesome. ETA: after washing it off, I smell what I think is the base notes/drydown and it's actually quite nice. I may retry this.

In the bottle I smell something light, slightly floral, with a background of Dragon's blood. I have a lot of hope for this one. On my skin, it starts off oh-kay, very floral which is not really my style but I hold out. Then it turns into ivory soap and I have to wash it off. Pity.

I put this on and instantly smelled chocolate, cinnamon, and coffee. But with something else underneath, something that made it less foodie and more amazing. It's a warm, comforting scent. I asked my husband what he smelled and he goes "Chocolate. And coffee! Not very sexy." "But it would be nice on a rainy day." "THEN it would be sexy!"

A lovely forumite sent me a testable sniffie of this scent. And now, I am kind of sorry I tried it becuase IT IS THE BEST BPAL I HAVE EVER TRIED. Ever. I smell like walking sex. In the bottle, it's sharp and almost dry, I definitely get the leather and booze. But once it hits my skin, a dirty patchouli and something that smells a lot like amber to me come out and play, with leather and booze just slightly in the background. It's simply amazing.

Benzoin, wild plum, smoky amber, bergamot, orange blossom, myrrh, and dark berries. Someone else said "fruity hairspray" and that's exactly what it smells like to me. It's overly perfumey, in the drugstore kind of way. I knew I probably wouldn't like it when I sniffed it in the bottle, but the notes sounded ok so I tried it. Not for me.

This scent is amazing, and impossible to describe. Cool but warm, vanilla but tinged with something....else. I have no idea what it is, but it smells GOOD. Instant favorite. This is the 2007 version. ETA: I agree with the other posters, it's COCONUT!! I couldn't put my finger on it but that is definitely what I am smelling. This fragrance is a definite winner.

I am beginning to realize that teak is a note I just don't care for. I think it's what makes Snake Oil not quite perfect in my eyes. This is an interesting blend, it smells fruity yet dark, mixed with something sour. I don't at all associate a smell like this with desire, but that's beside the point. As it dries, the teak begins to come out even more, which is not pleasant. It's beginning to smell more and more like motor oil -that's always what teak smells like to me. Wow, finally something that drowns out even rose on my skin. Impressive. I can't detect any vanilla or patchouli at all at first. Overall it's really rather unpleasant and sour on my skin. Like Snake Oil gone bad. As it dries more, I can almost smell the vanilla, but it's lost in a sea of teak. I'm not smelling any other notes. Nothing about this scent evoked desire in me. At all.

... This oil blend is a serene, soothing Indian blend, created to bring calm and joy to the heart and peace to the spirit. Sandalwood, jasmine, rose, patchouli, cedarwood and lemongrass. This smelled like a beautiful, amazing, meditive blend in the imp and, for about five minutes, on my skin. It reminded me of Aurovedic products or the Whole Body section at Whole Foods. But then...as this happens to me a lot with rose blends, it turned into rose soap. I'm a sad panda because the first give minutes of this scent were amazing. If you don't amp rose like I do, this is a fresh, clean, slightly floral blend with enough woodsy notes to keep it grounded.

I don't think I have any words to express how awful this blend smelled. I didn't get any of the notes that are supposedly in it, all I got was a sharp, perfume-y, Jean Nate type smell. Or maybe White Rain hairspray. Thankfully, it fades fairly quickly and doesn't have much throw. It did not morph and stayed pretty much the same through drydown. Eeesh.

This one smells like juicy, blooming flowers. Actually, it reminds me a lot of an expensive perfume, Chanel No. 5 or something in that vein. Unfortunately, as my skin amps the rose and I'm really not a big floral fan, it didn't work. I was hoping the amber and the "smoky rose" would make it work, but it didn't. It's just too strongly floral for me. I will say, however, that it doesn't smell soapy at all. So for those of you who love complex florals, this will be a great blend for you.

Well, I knew I was taking a chance with this one (keep in mind, I'm an oriental scents type girl). Yet another floral that smells great to me in the imp and like soap on my skin. You know when you walk into Crabtree and Evelyn and you get hit with that overpowering, old fashioned floral soap smell? It's like that. I'm afraid I won't be doing a full test run. Not for me

An itch that needs to be scratched: Snake Oil and three types of honey. This one smelled exactly as I thought it would: like Snake Oil and O combined. Which is nice, actually, because sometimes to me snake oil has a slightly medicinal note to it, and O has a slightly play dough note to it...but with this blend, both negative notes are softened quite a bit. The drydown is a very sexy, honeyed vanilla. It lasted about 5 hours, medium throw.

At first, I smell the cotton, and a LOT of vanilla. Vanilla, vanilla, vanilla, vanilla. It's not a bad vanilla at all, and since I'm a vanilla fan, I did not find this to be undesirable. After several hours, the tobacco came out and it was a really complex, beautiful scent. It lasted FOREVER as well (over 8 hours), which BPAL almost never does. Very good throw too.

At first, I smell the woods, but they are soft this time, not super manly as woods tend to go on me. These are sweet smelling woods, like being deep in the forest after it rains. Underneath that I smell tobacco, sweet, earthy tobacco. It's a very comforting, sweet, almost foodie scent. Medium throw, stays true once dry and does not morph.
