When I purchased this on release (sooo many years ago) it was all plasticy vanilla + snake oil. I'm not even sure why I kept a bottle. But I've been pulling out old bottles to evaluate what I want to keep and what I want to rehome this month, so I tried this one on a whim. In the bottle: Still the same BPAL cake scent which I always enjoy in the bottle, but is hit or miss on my skin. On skin, wet: "Where... where did the snake oil go???" This is all cake and the Dorian tea note. Somehow the tea has tamed the cake scent so that it's wearable. On skin, dry: This is all Dorian with cake warmness backing it up. It wouldn't be an every day scent for me, but it's great for cold snowy days where all I want to do is drink tea and read books.

When I first got Australian Copperhead I wasn't struck by it. It was a sharp, berry mess with the play dough of Snake Oil mixed in. I kept the decant, figuring I would be able to easily swap it if it didn't improve. Improve it did! Now it's a lovely, berry vanilla over a base of wonderfully aged Snake Oil. The berries keep the Snake Oil under control, and the Snake Oil and vanilla keep the berries from going overly sweet on me. The whole thing is a rich, almost gourmand scent that is strong, but subtle on my skin. More likely to get a "something smells good" rather than an "I like your perfume".

This doesn't smell like fur, but Aeaea reminds me of zoo after the cages have been hosed down. It always reminds me of the cat house and the hoofstock areas of our zoo.

I'll second Yemaya as a lovely, melony fruity scent. Fire Pig is also a nice fresh fruit scent. Australian Copperhead is fruity, but tends to strike me as less of a hot weather scent and more of a warm weather scent.

As I wrote in the Pumpkin III thread, the pumpkin note when it's fresh does NOT like me. However, I love it in the bottle, and I always look longingly at the Pumpkin Patch scents. So being the masochist I am, I put Pumpkin III on one arm today and Pumpkin IV on the other one, just, you know, in case something had changed since last year... and the year before... etc. It did! Both scents aged into something beautiful on my skin. Pumpkin IV sits close to the skin and makes me smell like a sun warmed pumpkin patch. It doesn't smell fallish to me at all. It's the occasional late September heat wave that bakes the earth and everything growing in it. I smell pumpkins on the vine, baked earth and a hot, dry green smell of sage and sweetgrass. What have I learned today? That I really should just bite the bullet, order the complete pumpkin patch and then hide them from myself for a year. This is another bottle I want.

Pumpkin with white chocolate, caramel, pomegranate, and cream. When I first got the decant for this last year, I tried it on, and as I recall, immediately washed it off in disgust. Same for the rest of the pumpkin patch Fresh pumpkin note + me = badness. However, in retrying these before ordering Halloweenies this year, I've found that this scent has mellowed beautifully into a foodie dream. It's like the richest german chocolate cake ever, with the chocolate and caramel melding perfectly. I can smell a bit of pumpkin, but only around the edges. It's behaving itself perfectly and gorgeously. I don't know that this is a scent that I'll wear often, but it's one I'll keep around for those days that the super-foodie mood strikes. It's nothing like Beaver Moon, but it fills a similar role in that it makes me smell like a house full of baking sweets!

Kill-Devil In the Imp: A sweeter Mad Sweeney. Wet on the skin: It smells like I accidentally applied from my Sugar Skull bottle. Dry: The sweetness has burned away, and it has left a very, very dry woody note with an undercurrent of honey. This would be lovely at the right time or for the right mood. I'll be keeping the imp, but I don't believe I'll be needing a bottle of this.

A feisty bouquet of golden, warm, gently honeyed lilies. This scent wavers back and forth for me. Sometimes it's a lovely, subtle floral, other times the hint of sour that accompanies many of the lab's honey notes rears its ugly head. I imagine this would be a lovely fragrance on a bit of a warmer day, where I would get more of the lovely waft without having to be close enough to smell sour part of the honey. I won't be getting a bottle of this, but I'll probably use my imp.

A sweet and silly compliment to the first breath of Spring! Sugared carnation and phlox! This scent is girly, innocent and sweet. Everything that I'm not. Not that I let that stop me. Even the girl in the motorcycle jacket and combat boots wants to wear pink once in a while, and what better to satisfy that pink craving than a bottle with a skull on it? Pink Moon '07 is perfect, bright carnations. This is my ideal scent for days when Morocco is a little too heavy. I don't get a distinct sugar note, but there is something sweetening up the spiciness of the flowers. It is a very bright, springy carnation. Just the thing to warm up a dreary day.

Everyone keeps comparing this oil to autumn, and wet I can see that. It's a very fresh apple and grains smell straight out of the bottle. Once on it's not autumn at all to me. It's summer on a farm: hot, dry feed rooms, fields starting to be choked with dust, some watfting from the garden, and a bit of apple juice running down your chin. I don't know that I'll wear this often, but I love the smell for the scent memories it brings back. This is a very evocative scent. It captures something in perfume that I never thought could be captured.

In Imp: Blast of cream. Don't want to put it on the skin, as this is the point in my cycle where Love's Philosophy and Milk Moon make me want to puke. But since I'm making a Lunacy order soon, I persist and try it anyway. Wet: Sweet, creamy, not great, but not icky. Mostly 'meh'. I sniff it a couple times and proceed to put Harikata and Spell of Amorous Love on the other arm and forget about it. Hour later: ::sniffs around:: Huh, why am I smelling aged Snake Oil? ::checks in bottle box to see if she's left the Snake Oil out or the lid off. Nope. Weird. ::sniffs air again:: Nope, definitely not the Harikata. That has its own distinctive scent cloud, and it's nowhere near as yummy as this whiff of Snake Oil. Also not Spell of Amorous Love, which is hiding behind the cloud o' Harikata. Oh! ::sniffs arm she had originally tested on. Glowing Vulva at Ryogoku Bridge! ::glues nose to crook of elbow where it's applied:: ::tries to type like this:: ::fails:: I can't explain it. Those notes shouldn't be making this smell, but they are. This is very much a spicy, smooth, creamy vanilla being supported by an almost imperceptible as a separate note wood base. Love it. I'll wear it for a full day or two before I make the lunacy order, but this is hoard-worthy.

Wet, and fresh on the skin, this is a fantastic fruit salad made out of cantaloupe, honeydew, athena melon and pineapple. I love it and kind of want to gnaw off my skin. Then, drying down, I start to catch whifs of purple sweet tarts. Dry, this alternates between a very subtle melon scent and a cloying sweet tarts scent. I would love it if it stayed the former, but unfortunately the latter ruins it for me.

I can't believe I've never reviewed this one. I can't compare this to any of the other mint/vanilla/peppermints, as I've never been attracted to that combination. Honestly, I bought this bottle because of the name and label. Luckily you occasionally can make a good pick by judging a book by its cover. This is a strong minty vanilla on me. Not overwelming, just potent. Just a touch and I get the same amount of scent as if I poured one of the lighter bottles on my arm. This scent makes me think of taking peppermint patties and dousing them in vanilla extract (the real kind, not the cheap plasticky kind). It's not a scent that I ever wear out of the house, but if I'm just lounging about, or want something sweet and comforting before bed, I always seem to find this bottle at my fingertips.

I originally wasn't going to get Old Moon, as The Snow Storm turned bad on me, and all of the reviews were comparing the two. Thank goodness I did! This is a greener, fruitier version of Nuclear Winter. It has the lovely arctic chill that I adore in things like Nuclear Winter, Hunger Moon and Cloister Graveyard in the Snow. If that wasn't enough, it then adds a lovely green undertone and frosted red berries sitting on top of the snow. This is such a delicate and lovely scent!

Midway is an odd one on me.In the bottle, it's cotton candy with a hint of funnel cake grease behind it. As soon as it touches my skin it's plasticy, sugary grease for about 30 minutes. Ick. I washed it off and was ready to swap this away the first time I tried it. However, I just couldn't bring myself to do it without a second try. Good choice. I put it on as soon as I was out of the shower, then went about my morning routine. It faded to a sweet, sugary smell, so I left it on, thinking that a nice, light smell would be best when dealing with the hoards of holiday museum-goers. I didn't even think about it until abouot two hours later, when I started catching the scent of caramel apples. I was confused for a while, since the room that I was in was supposed to be scented like creosote and gunpowder, and yet here was this lovely, caramel slathered apple scent. Finally it clicked. It was me! I think this will work really well in the summer, when my skin is warmer, and the plastic note will wear itself out more quickly. Even if not, I won't be swapping this bottle. I might start wearing it when I take a nap, so that I wake up to yummy caramel apple smell. I might even purchase another bottle. I love the smell of caramel apples.

In the bottle: I want to drink this. No, really. I really want to drink this. It smells like a perfectly made summer cocktail. Lime and papaya and a sweetness that has to be coming from the mint (even though it's not a mint smell). This is summer in a bottle, and even if it doesn't end up working out on me, I'll have to keep it just to sniff it. Wet: fruity, minty, grassy, green. This couldn't be more green if the oil was actually colored like a crayon. It's a surprisingly lush smell, extremely well blended. I can't really pick out anything specific. Dry: As it dries, the musk, amber and sage come out, making a lovely summer scent that is very well grounded. This isn't a prissy, girly summer spent flirting with boys and watching movies. This is a summer spent at summer camp, playing tag and hide-n-seek in fields of tall grass, and cooling off by eating lime jello and mint tea. Edit, Dec. 10th: Still loving this, but now that it's warmed up a bit both in my house and outside, I'm getting a stronger throw and more of a tea scent. Strangely, this isn't the tea that hates me in Gennivre, but a well-behaved grounding note for the sweet notes.

I love coffee, but I like things to be a bit sweeter, so if I make my own coffee I like to make it really, really strong and then dump a scoop of hot chocolate into it, creating an almost sludge-like mixture. Lately I've been adding cinnamon in as well. Somehow El dia smells exactly like my morning drink. On me, the coffee and cinnamon ring strong and true, and the chocolate adds a nice supporting note. This might be a big help in keeping me awake to finish off NaNoWriMo for the four days! Love it! I'll be ordering a bottle of this with my next order and possibly asking for one for Christmas as well.

On me, this is pure, strawberry plastic. To the point that I just had to wash it off before I went out. I don't exactly want people telling me that I smell like their favorite doll from their childhood! I'm going to try to use this in a burner, as I love the creamy cherry/strawberry smell I get straight out of the bottle. It seems like it would make a room smell wonderful.

When I first tried this, right after it came out, I had mixed feelings. It was nice, but a little too floral soapy on me. Now the other notes are coming out more, and I can smell more of the cucumber/ginger/moss. This is a beautiful, clean aquatic. Just the thing if I want to feel pretty or girly (it doesn't happen often, but it does happen!) Now I'm glad I didn't swap away my extra bottle of this one.

In the Imp Juicy red apple. The kind that's just calling out to be eaten right away with a big chunk of cheese. Wet on skin Apple with... something else. A hint of something green and growing. Dry on skin This actually doesn't smell like apples themselves anymore, but the smell of an apple orchard when the apples are just starting to ripen, but none have started rotting on the ground yet. I can close my eyes and imagine that I'm standing in the tall grass at the edge of the garden under the scrub apple trees that mostly fed the deer and other wildlife, but which I couldn't resist grabbing an apple from each time I passed.

Gibbous Moon is a beautiful flower bouquet, but it may be a little too wildflower for you.

'07 Version I get a autumn potpouri smell when I first put it on, but as it dries it becomes a lovely spicy scent. After a few hours, it's... chocolate? After I first tested it, I decided that my hormones must be doing wonky things to the scent, but nope. I've now worn this several times, and it's always the same. A lovely spiced incense/potpouri, then a warm, chocolate scent that lasts and lasts. This is actually the only chocolate that lasts on me, so I'll be buying a bottle of this one.

This is a sweet Smut to me. I'm getting a touch of black strap molasses, but the notes are blending together in a way that makes this smell like an almost limey rum and simple syrup combination. As it dries, Kill-devil fades to become a very sexy "second skin" scent. But not clean, fresh-scrubbed skin, skin that has been out drinking rum and dancing all night and has fallen into a contented sleep under the stars after some strenuous exercise with a wonderfully sweaty pirate. Do I even need to state that I'll be ordering a bottle of this in my next order? I feel like I need a cigarette after just sniffing my arm.

This definitely reminds me of the sea and of ships, but I'm not sure it's a pirate ship that I'm getting. It's such a refined, well-blended scent that I feel like I should be strolling the promenade deck of the Olympic or Titanic, with salt air blowing a hint of the wood of the deck and a waft of my companion's cologne to my nose. The gunpowder gives a hint of the fires powering the ship. I love it, so much more than I can even put into words. You'll have to pry this scent out of my cold dead hands! And I have this incredible urge to find one of my friends and slather him in it then curl up next to him. This is definitely a comforting scent and one I will cherish for as long as it lasts.

In the Imp Sweet lemon tea. Smells practically drinkable. Wet on skin: Still lemon tea. No jasmine yet, which is great, as my skin usually turns jasmine into an overpowering cloud of ick. Dry on skin: There's the jasmine, but for once it's playing nice. Which is both good, and bad, as the lemon tea has turned into lemon soap. Sadly, this scent is not for me, but it gives me hope that some forms of Jasmine might actually work!
