My skin amps clove. I was really hoping it would be way in the background in this blend but no such luck. On first sniff I already knew this wasn't going to work out but I tried it anyway. I had it on for about an hour and then worked very hard at washing it off because the clove was all I smelled. Oh well, there are so many more ladies to enjoy! eta: After having this one for a little longer I've tried it a few more times. The clove is quite strong when I first put it on but once it fades a bit then the other notes do come into play a bit. I think I might like this one more than I first thought. I can actually smell the cardamom, carnation and tea . . . a hint of patchouli. I might just need a bottle before the Carnival leaves town. eta2: Now I'm completely won over. I really only get a hint of clove. Now on a big long full wear I get plenty of cardamom, carnation and a hint of black pepper. I am really glad I gave this one a few more tries because I just love it. A bottle will be in my next order. Which is really funny considering my first impressions of this blend.

Middle Eastern flowers, amber, honey, blood red-berries, whip leather, and polished paddle wood. This blend is completely me. I definately get the leather but with a lovely sweetness that must be the berries and honey. There is a slight backdrop of a wonderfully incense-like wood way in the background. I smell like I could do anything (or anyone for that matter! ) As it develops on my skin the leather takes on a smokey quality and it just sweetens up the teeniest bit more. Yeah. I'm hot in this one. I am in love!! eta: A really hot thing to do is put Crowley on your partner and wear Nanny yourself. Good times... good times.

This is the first BPAL rose that I actually want a bottle of. It is such a soft rose and somehow doesn't amp up on me the way other rose blends do. On me it smells very girly and sweet. The lily (I usuallly can't wear that one either) seems to be keeping the rose in check and the vanilla musk adds a lovely base that makes Victoria very innocent. I really love it. This is coming from a regular rose hater.

Super juicy and green. Plenty of throw. I hardly need a drop and I can smell it for ages. If you like Amsterdam then you'll probably love Slippery Poppy, too.

When I very first tried this blend I thought I didn't like it. I was sooooooooo wrong. In the imp this blend smells a bit sharp but once I get it on my skin it is a green, mossy violet with a hint of patchouli. It wears so gorgeously on my skin. My husband loves it and so do I. It's the greener, less candy violet that I've always wanted. Thank you, Brian!!

Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener

Wow, this one is good. So good. It's really like an adult root beer. Who knew I wanted to smell like root beer? The vanilla in it is very good and full and rich - not plasticy at all. -
When I sniff the bottle I do get a hint of grapey wine. Once it hits my skin, however, not much wine is left (which is good for me!) and I get warm, frankincense sugar cakes. Very relaxing and soothing. I'm so glad to have a bottle!

Red musk, ambergris, coconut palm, red sandalwood, balsam, date, warm leather, tobacco, ebony, lingum vitae wood, pandanus grass, an' a touch o' lime. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this one yet! This blend made me fall madly in love with leather and tobacco. Wet: when I first smelled it I didn't like it. It smelled so strange to me. It was Halloween night and I was about to take my girls out and I thought I would wear it anyway - in honor of Beth and Ted's wedding. Anyway - wet . . . it smelled very smokey and leathery. Not my style (or so I thought) On: I guess it's not too bad. Not giving me a headache or anything. Dry: Oh. This must be why people like leather. Because it's so freaking SEXY! This blend went all kinds of right on my skin. Musky, salty, tobacco, leather . . . OMG!

When I first opened the bottle it reminded me a little of Teenage Cannibal. On: oh.my.God. How lovely. Vanilla ginger plus a hint of tropical floral. Dry: more of the same loveliness. My favorite of all the Tiki blends.

Temple of Dreams smelled like lavender and a cooking herb. Sage is probably right. Soothing. Another really good sleep blend. I'm not plagued by nightmares so I can't say if it keeps them away but I'm a big lavender fan and I do like this one.

I really love this blend but not on my skin. Probably because of the citrus. I get more of a lemon and lime with the lavender and maybe some chamomile. It's very similar to the discontinued Lush Bewitched massage bar. A really good scent for your pillow at night.

I just got an imp of this one! Thank you, morphmouse! Wet: oooooooOOOOoooooh! I'm going to like this one. I can smell the leather and tobacco leaf. Fresh tobacco leaf smells soooooo nice. On: oh yeah. oh yeah. So sexy. I smell something else . . . plant like. Maybe it's the snake root? It just adds another dimension. Dry: It develops this pretty perfume smell, the leather fades a bit and the tobacco leaf comes out more. One of my new faves. I NEED a bottle!

I don't get any of the lovely berries on my skin at all!! This is the blend in which I leaned that heather smells (on my skin) the way soap tastes. Yep. Pure soap.

Musky peach! Wet or dry it doesn't change much on my skin. It's pretty nice but I don't need a bottle.

I tried this blend when I very first started getting into BPAL. I thought it was so nice that I used it as a room diffuser but I used too much and it made me sick. I sent my imp away after that. Now it's over a year later and I've been really loving my vanilla blends so I try out Antique Lace again while I was sniffing imps at morphmouse's house. Wet: VANILLA with extras. I almost smell a floral, a hint of lemon and I could swear there is some kind of wood in here, maybe sandalwood. On: So pretty! A really rich vanilla. A little goes a long way. Dry: Gets a little sugary on me, which I like. A sugary, fuzzy vanilla and sandalwood.

I was worried that this one might be like Sugar Skull on me. Sugar Skull is a burnt sugar candle on me. Sugar Moon, however, is more like a musky, slightly mapley, sugary scent. The maple is almost a herbal maple or maybe more like fresh maple sap than maple syrup or sugar. It's quite lovely and there are times when I just HAVE to wear it.

Wet: I get a really lovely winter fir, a touch of berry, herbs and something else. This one really hits me. On: WOW. I get all of the wet notes and some fuzzy musk starts to appear. Dry: More fuzzy musk and less of the wet notes but . . . This blend is truly amazing.

I think I've finally learned that gardenia smells pretty soapy on me. I guess most flowers just don't work with my chemistry.

I love this blend. I get the scent of a forest, a smokey incense, skin musk, cool air . . . oh so GOOD!!!!! It reminds me a bit of Buck Moon, too which I also love.

I tried this blend for the first time a week ago and I thought it was nice but kind of generic. Today I was in a testing mood so I put it on again. Wow! I'm getting quite a bit more of the sarsaparilla, a little floral and some opium poppy (which is "perfumey" on me). I love it today. It's like a root beer perfume to me.
-
The first time I tested this scent it seemed very swampy and quite terrible on my skin. I tried it again today and now I'm really getting that salty fresh air and lime. It's quite lovely and I am so glad I was gifted this decant (thank you, schmoozy). I might even try and swap for a bottle.

My first Chimera experience was with an imp. Creamy, cinnamon buns. Really! I ordered a bottle right away and when it came it didn't have that same foody quality. It actually smelled quite a bit like Hod but with light cinnamon instead of carnation. When I wear it my husband says he smells almonds and he doesn't like it. I think I can smell a bit of the almond smell, too. I'm hoping age will make it a little more foody. I still like it the way it is but I'd rather have the cinnamon buns.

Smells like candy! Very cheering. Wet: It's almost syrupy. Very fruity On: Oh, nice! More candy-like. A bit of vanilla and candied fruits. Maybe a wee bit of strawberry and some super sweet citrus. Dry: It reminds me quite a bit of Marshmallow Poof. I think I might even like it more. Fruity candy.
-
It's really too bad that my chemistry amps clove so I don't get the lovely complexity that others do from this blend. All I get is clove. My decant is already off to a new home though.
-
I really pick up the oakmoss and patchouli when it's wet and I love it!! Unfortunately when it dries down on my skin I get a really perfumey musk that smells a bit stale instead of gorgeous and fresh like when it's wet. Fortunately I have a BPTP locket so I can enjoy every drop of my decant!
