Alice Aforethought

On first application, it smells very fruity! That'll be the red wine then lol. As it dries down, it gradually becomes more floral. The myrrh didn't come out on me very heavily. It's very pleasant, and I'll be using up the sample, but for some reason I wasn't expecting Lilith to smell quite like this - darker, maybe.

This one unfortunately was the only sample I ordered that didn't agree with me. However, this was purely because of the almond, which was fairly strong on application and then was even more prominent. It's the only one that didn't grow on me with use, even a little. (I watch out for the smell of almonds and see it as a bad thing - a long story involving cyanide) But if almonds are your thing, you'll probably love this one!

This is one which doesn't seem to change much on me between application and drying down. Some of my favourite oils, a gorgeous combination that is very deep and fairly rich but isn't too dark. It reminded me most, as others have said, of churches - for me, it's the scent of decades of church polish on the pews, and the memories of scraping off the deepest waxy bits with my nails and inhaling, but more alive and vibrant.

On first application: very stongly of roses. But not light, delicate roses - fullblooded and confident, deep, velvety roses. On drydown: smells almost like patchouli on me! It has a similar round spiciness that lingers and lingers. I totally agree with Antimony - this one inspires confidence and strength. I keep sniffing and smiling all day with this one.

On first application: overwhelmingly fruity but with the deeper notes peeking through a bit. On drying down: a lot deeper, but still with those fruity overtones. It smells very 'round' - the patchouli isn't deep enough to drag it too deep but grounds it nicely. But then I love patchouli anyway! It's a perfect scent for lazy, warm summer evenings.

On first application - very heady and floral, with an almost buttery smoothness to it. On drying down - still smooth and buttery, but with a deeper edge coming through the floral - sweet and a little green, hedgerows in early summer maybe. It doesn't stay long, though - a few hours before reapplication. It's not my normal kind of scent but I think I'm converted.

I quite like there not being a separate section for men. Everything is now based on the descriptions and the essential oils, rather than 'oils for men' and 'oils for women.' Simon got 'Fenris' as he loved the description, not because it suited his gender. The 'suggestions' list is a good way round the practical difficulties of not having separate sections. I do think 'the male list' could have a higher profile on the site - I only found it because I looked at every single page! :shock:
