Today is the day of my Pathfinder game, so I'm wearing my character- Chaotic Neutral Elf Rogue. I dabbed a bit each four on the back of my hand in that order and pressed my other hand to it and kind of swirled them around. I feel like I'm getting Chaotic and Rogue the most strongly, though those are also the most distinct scents to me so maybe my familiarity with them makes them easier to pick up. It's smooth and blended together (like Valiss the rogue is smooth and blends in to society- he's a conman) but a bit fruity. The leather is also present, reminding me strongly of Perversion, which is another Valiss-suitable scent. It's quite sweet, because nearly everything goes sweet on me. I definitely like it and dig it for the character it's representing!

I love this! Dragon's blood is usually too artificial and perfumey for me to enjoy, but the honey mellows out its harsh edges and it lightens the scent, making it not too sweet. I can get a bit of the gingergrass in it as well- ginger is not usually one of my favourite notes, but it's really not bad here at all. This seems light and almost grassy, yellow-green to me. It's very summery and fresh, and much less irritating than you'd think mosquito-inspired perfume would be.

This is very light and sweet and hazy-gold. I can definitely smell the hyssop, chamomile, and honey- especially the hyssop, which is the strongest note on me. I don't mind, though it puts me in mind of a lighter Anubis. Which is great, since I like Anubis but can't bring myself to wear it. Very calm and soothing scent, which is unsurprising from the chamomile. Makes me want to rhyme things with 'azy': hazy, lazy, daisy... mmm.

I got the impression of some sort of caramel-coconut incense, which was very interesting. It also hurt! There was significant stinging for about half an hour after I put it on- I was too lazy to wash it off and it stopped eventually, but ow. I guess I shouldn't expect something different from evil summoning incense, right? So it smelled great and was appropriately painful. Thumbs up!

Incensey rose at first, drying down to a rich, deep frankincense- I suspect that's the oude giving this such a lovely base. This feels very sacred, like you're smelling something that really is a holy mystery. I love it! It does remind me of All Souls, but without the fruit and with a more solid base. More like the solid incense than the incense smoke.

I'm wearing my 2008 vintage Snake Oil. Mmmm...

I layered Lawful and Good since I play a paladin but only got those scents... It is pretty great! Good sweetens up Lawful but the Lawful gives the Good a depth that I was missing in the Good alone. I got the guys at my gaming group to sniff and they were like 'hmm, smells like order'. I suspect they were joking, but still. It's definitely a really good combination. I think I might try a little bit more Good next time, since the Lawful was quite a bit stronger. Still, these two work very well together for me.

Absolutely gorgeous. Unsurprising on me- all the notes are total win (bless you, skin) and this is so perfectly blended. It's a very sweet, gentle scent, with no hard edges at all. The patchouli and fig form a base for the rosewater, honey, and jasmine to blossom from. This smells like some kind of expensive, creamy dessert. For some reason, in my mind it's like a soap bubble- it's not very substantial, but it shimmers and is completely pretty. I think this would be an 'anytime' sort of scent. It's soft and elegant, warm enough for winter and light enough for summer.

I was wearing Tanin'iver today and I think I'll wear Punkie Night tomorrow. Wrong holiday, I know, but it smells Christmasy to me!

Mmm, this is lovely. I don't get strong lavender from this one at all- it's distinctly there when I apply it but the drydown is entirely honey and creaminess, though there is a 'clean' quality to it that I suspect could be the remains of the lavender. I also feel like I can almost smell a cinnamon note, sometime? It reminds me of the crust of cheesecake, but I'm not really certain it's there. Anyways, this is a simple but beautiful scent, golden creamy cheesecake. I love it.

I love this! When I opened the imp, I thought 'hmmm, jasmine', but on it is much more rose- very fresh and sweet, not soapy. I think there's a bit of lily there too, because it reminds me of sniffing the lilies during Easter at church. It's absolutely wonderful, very floral but not obnoxiously old-lady or aggressive. I think there's definitely some honey that comes out on the drydown and keeps everything sweet and together.

Well, this definitely smells like dude. In a good way, definitely. At the beginning, the bay rum is spicy. I'm used to bay rum smelling sort of thin on me-- crispy. I don't know how it works to describe a scent as crispy, but it feels weird and artificial to my nose. This one, however, seems more creamy. I can smell the leather under it, but mostly it's spicy bay rum. Gradually the leather gets stronger and the rum gets quieter but never disappears entirely. Spicy leather-- not really my thing, but not bad. I'd like to smell it on a guy I like.

Vampire Tarot: The Fool
ChloeKEvil replied to freneticfloetry's topic in 15 Painted Cards From A Vampire Tarot
This goes through three clear stages for me. The first is peppermint-apple. If there is one combination I hate, it's peppermint and apple. I used to avoid apples like the plague shortly before and shortly after I brushed my teeth. They're just so gross together. So it's a little stomach churning, but it doesn't last long. The peppermint fades off, leaving the apple behind. Well, apple blossom, really. It's definitely not the full-on fruit, but it's light and flowery and... been stepped on and pressed into the dirty. Gritty grey dirt, that is really noticeable when you breathe deeply. On a light sniff it's just flowers. Eventually the dirt fades off, leaving just the apple blossom behind. It's very light and pretty and I do enjoy both this stage and the previous dirty stage. I can see wearing this during summer-- it's not at all heavy or cloying. Very refreshing, in fact. I should note that this is a bottle I just got, but my friend bought for me at Comic-Con last year. So it's aged, but it was just jostled around in shipping. It might change a bit and if it does, I'll update this. -
Mr. Jacquel is a warm, snuggly scent. Not in a tiny-puppy snuggly scent, but like the dog as big as a wolf that you can count on to keep you safe while you sleep, that everyone else is kind of scared of but you know that it wouldn't hurt you. In terms of not-incredibly-vague scent impressions, I would say this one has a lot of patchouli that I like, with some of the spices too. I can never identify amber, so it's possible that that is here too... Mr. Jacquel is probably my top comfort scent. Its warmth and earthiness make me feel grounded if I'm unhappy, and its strength makes me feel stronger.

I adore this. I wouldn't wear it for just any day, and here is why: it smells ancient. Like something brought forward from the time when they were actively worshipping at Delphi. Sacred anointing oil and wine for libations, mingled with incense. When I wear it, I feel like I'm making an offering to Apollo. I love it.

Eden is a lovely spring or summer scent. It reminds me of walking through a stand of trees with the wind rustling through them- like being surrounded with green. The fig and almond come out first, and in a way this reminds me of Bilquis, which I believe shares those notes. It's the same honeyed sweetness, but with a greener side than Bilquis's blush-red. This is a very gentle scent, but it wafts when I move- the coconut comes out and gives a tropical feeling. Not over-the-top luau, but standing at the top of a hill and looking down and seeing palm trees and jungle spread out around you (which reminds me of a guided meditation I once did that was lovely). This scent makes me feel pretty in a delicate, elfin sort of way. I want more of this, it's luscious.

This is surprisingly light on me, for Snake Oil. However, it does cling for a long time in spite of that. I'm sure it will get stronger with age. It's basically what it says on the tin- Snake Oil with honey. It's really delightful- the warmth of the honey makes my nose feel good. On a scale of one to stellartacular, this is 'yummy'.

This is in my top ten for sure. I smell primarily the apple, fig, honey, rose, and almond. It's warm and sweet, the honey wrapping around the fruits and rose and the nuts to blend everything until they're nearly indistinguishable. It feels sophisticated and womanly, but not overly regal or stuck up. This is a gorgeous woman with a lush figure, wearing jeans and a sweater and sipping tea.

So far as I can tell, Samhain is what I've been craving since the weather went cold up here. In the bottle, it smells almost alcoholic- the apple, I think. And there's a background of woodsy spiciness. On wet, it smells the same, which is awesome. The opening stages of the dry down push vetiver to the fore, making it slightly unpleasant, but in less than half an hour the apple is peeking out again, blending with the patchouli and spices into an amazing slightly-cidery mixture. After sleeping on it for four hours, it reminds me of baked apples or apple pie- a bit of a winy note, very warm and comforting. In my top ten, for sure!

Strawberry Moon '09 is seriously adorable. I squeed when I took a look at mine.

First impressions, having just got the imp: At first this was smoky choky vetiver and I didn't think I would like it but ten minutes later, the smoke has disappeared and it's a creamy almondy scent. I like it a lot! I hope this works, too. I need a job.

Irrelevant and Disturbing Surreal Crawdad Dream
ChloeKEvil replied to filigree_shadow's topic in Liliths
Mmm, this is good. In the bottle and wet on my skin, I get blueberry and ginger, but the blueberry fades back to blend with the currant and the tea comes up to lend some astringency that keeps it from going excessively sweet. This actually reminds me of Serpents with Glittering Eyes and Forky Tongues, but I like this better, because it smells less like shampoo. -
I got a quarter-imp as a very kind freebie from GoldenRubee In the imp, it smelled faintly lemony. Wet on my wrist, it smelled ozoney/dryer sheety with a bit of floral- not so good. As it dries, the ozone seems to be fading a bit but this is, alas, not spectacular for me so far. *sigh* If it changes I will be thrilled, though.

Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)
ChloeKEvil replied to zillah37's topic in Carnaval Diabolique
One of the things that stood out for me for Mme. Moriarty is that she smelled like my favourite stage of Snake Oil all the way through- it's almost raw and medicinal and fizzy, and so unusual that I love it. I think it must be from the red musk and/or patchouli. That scent is very prominent at first, but the fruits gradually get stronger until it's very well-balanced and sexy. This lasts a really long time- I could smell it on my wrist where I put a small dab well into the next day (I put it on about 8 pm) and it still smelled very nice! Definitely a new favourite. -
A play of geological darkness and jagged brilliance. Soft and luminescent with flashes of black fire. *puts on mining helmet* Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go... Oh, you didn't know about the Black Phoenix Vanilla Mines? They're the finest source of rock vanilla on the whole continent, scenting the area around them with a very appealing scent, a crystalline vanilla. They export it to all sorts of places- it has a different feel, less food and more perfumey... Oi. Right, got lost in my imagination. Anyways, I love this one. Gorgeous! The vanilla is sweet but there really is a rocky, glittery feel to it. It's very different from, say, Antique Lace, which I tried just before it and seemed thicker. This is a clear scent and not at all overpowering.
