Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

I haven't tried Persephone yet (but it's on its way to me) but have you tried Rose Moon? It's a soft yet fresh yet warm summery rose scent. Very lovely.

What do bottles and labels look like?

It makes you want to rip its little bodice off and bathe in its love juices. hehe I love the bottle art too!! Is Thunder Moon like the t-shirt?

    French Love

This has come freely to me at such an appropriate time The scent is quite good to me, DB becomes very lilac-y on me, which I like, and then there are the added spices. So this is like a spiced, heady, resinous lilac scent. Will enjoy trying it out on ze love-life...

    Stranger in Camp

In the bottle: Sweet evergreen tree sap. Strangely I am not frightened by this (I hated Yggdrasil... maybe my tastes have changed? Well, something happened, since I ordered this bottle) Wet: Fresh fresh evergreens/pine... (honestly I'm not sure that I know the difference) Drying: This warms up, becomes less "Fresh!", sweeter... Dry: When dry, this is less sharp and more mellow, a sweet green scent. On me it becomes almost feminine. Then a whisper of smoke slowly develops above everything, it is very gorgeous, but faint. Maybe more will come out later (in a few hours) or after sitting for a bit in my box. In any case, the scent of pine woods with a sweet smoky haze around it is really realistic and very lovely. I agree that this would also work beautifully as a room scent, but it will be great as a personal fragrance on hot summer nights in the city - the initial blast of scent is cooling and the drydown is surprisingly sexy and sofisticated on me... In a "back to nature" kind of way. Happy to have a bottle

    Blue Moon 2007

In the bottle this reminds me of the TAL White Light. Just a bit. It's a "magical oil" scent. On... it's herbal and green, but at the same time sweetened, "round" and smooth smelling. Wow.. it's so hard to pin it down. Like a moonbeam. In the initial stages, the general impression is clean, light, watery. I don't know if I distinctly smell "cucumber!!" but it has that cucumbery quality. It is stronger than I thought it would be having read the reviews. Not that I think it will waft around me like crazy, but it definately has presence. Dry this retains the above qualities, but develops a certain edge, a deeper woodiness. I feel like my review is completely inadequate, but what can I say? This is the legendary Blue Moon, this is watery yet woody, light and sweet, green and pale, and always magical. Very happy with my bottle

    Rose Moon

Oh I LOVE this! I'm so happy I bought a bottle! To me, on me, it is the quintessential summer rose. Big, heavy pink roses blooming in a garden with other flowers nearby. Scenting the warm summer breeze. Lemon zest cookies on the table in the garden. Bees buzzing happily. Sunshine flitting through the leaves. A light summer dress, bare feet in the shaded grass. Beautiful And I don't like all of the Lab rose blends, I am actually quite picky, and I felt that I took a chance on this one. So I am really happy. eta. Some more impressions: I also have to disagree that this smells like Hope. I had kind of hoped (lol) that it would, but it definately doesn't have that powdered sugar smell at all. I still love it, but alas, both my sister and my mother think that it smells like rose soap ... They still like it alot too, so I guess it is nice rose soap. There is complexity there, but the rose scent is very reminiscent of quality rose products like Crabtree & Evelyn...

    Frost Moon

Thanks to Deana for the sniffie Soft, pale, ethereal florals combined with eucalyptus/mint/something chilly and maybe a soft, pale musk? Very very pretty and feminine. I probably wouldn't wear it much, but as it is, I'm very glad to have tried it

    Mata Hari

What an interesting scent combination at first... But ultimately all I get is floral notes that are a bit too heavy for me combined with a breath of stale coffee

    The Raven

Love this It smells very true to its description on me. Fresh violets, combined with headier floral notes, sandalwood aroma and dark musk... So soft, solemn and sensual. ADDED May 14: Mainly sweet and powdery violets, with a shadow of wood and musk. I like powdery violets sometimes. And I like The Raven.

    Casanova

I find this to be a sexy men's fresh/herbal cologne. It's quite nice, but a little generic, and I just don't know if I will ever use it.
  11. I think the Minotaur is quite sexy in a raunchy, incense-y, dark kind of way. I've gotten compliments on it too.

Me too! I would also love to see Rose Moon

    The Lion

This is very faint, slightly spicy, but in a sort of herb/spice cabinet kind of way. Not unpleasant, but not for me. Edit. On the man, this is very sexy. Definately herbal amber and spice! I like it on him!

    Wings of Azrael

Azrael is the Angel of Death, marked as the last being to die in the Apocalypse. Though a harbinger of doom, his duties are an act of mercy: he curtails human life before world-weariness and despair destroys our spirits. Warm myrrh swirled with a bittersweet blend of violet, Lily of the Valley, juniper, cypess and cajeput. Mmmmmyrrh... with floral notes and herbs. Soft and smoky and very very pretty.

    Ode on Melancholy

Ah... this is so beautiful and calming and pretty. It smells alot like lavender, but with the other elements it is sweeter, deeper and something more. I love it. Eta: the lavender fades a bit soon, but the scent of wisteria left behind is equally pretty.

    Delirium

Unfortunately this is not very lovely on me It's basically wonky and soapy.

    Midnight Mass

Midnight Mass 2005 Bottle: Why does my nose smell Strangler Fig from this? I do a side by side comparison, and they are different after all, but there is something about the sweet woodiness of MM that reminds me of Strangler Fig. Wet: Still sweet woods, but developing a smoky-incensy edge. Very nice at this point, but not at all what I am expecting. Dry: More incense, more smokiness, and yet still those sweet woods/resins, which give an almost fruity impression. Very different from other resin/incense blends that I have tried so far, so I quite like that this is so individual. It does smell very beautiful, very holy. But it is really different from what I was expecting, and different from my church memories as well. I'll be keeping the bottle though, and getting myself more aquainted with it!

Thank you that is so cool!

    The Queen of Hearts

Heady blooms and cherry. Very sweet strong and heady. Not my thing sadly

    Dragon's Hide

In the imp I smell the DB and the sharp gritty smoke On the skin the smoke is hardly discernible, but at this point the leather note emerges. I do amp DB though, so it's mainly DB with a wee bit of leather. I wish the smoke hadn't disappeared.

    Penitence

At first this is like sharp wood/smoke, then the incensy resins come out. Frankincense & myrrh There also seems to be an underlying "earth" note. Reminiscent of Minotaur, but I do prefer the bull.

    Paris

Imp: Sweet strong lavender and lotus (I hope the latter doesn't go all bubblegum on me) Wet: Interesting! The spice sort of puffs/billows out from this scent on top of the lavender and lotus. It seems to be cinnamon, and it reminds me of the sweet cinnamon in Harlot, which I love. The lotus seems to be behaving, although it is quite sweet. Dry: The bubblegum aspect of the lotus does come out a bit unfortunately - le sigh. But it's not too bad. And my general impression of this scent is quite good. It's soft, feminine, sweet and powdery (in the good way, to me). The interpretation of this scent makes me think of old Parisian lace and well mannered ladies definately not contemporary Paris. eta: still don't know if I'll be keeping it. I think it would be a good bedtime scent.

    The Hanging Gardens

Imp: PEAR! A really nice type of fresh pear Wet: More sweet fruits emerge, both fresh and dried. That distinct pear is more or less gone now, and the general impression is of a mixed fruit scent. The gardenias are popping out now too, and they are a bit spicy reminding me of Sacred Whore of Babylon! Dry: This reminds me alot of Sacred Whore with fruits. I would have thought there was apple and some kind of light musk in here too. I unfortunately can't distinguish every single note (there are so many too!) but this is quite lovely on me. And I don't usually go for fruity, so I'm glad to have tried this, and once again have broadened my mind

    Severin

Imp: A freshly cut lemon slice just dropped into a cup of hot and sweetened Earl Grey tea. No kidding, it smells just like that! Wet: The same. I presume the lemon impression is actually coming from the bergamot. It's very fresh and clean smelling. No leather yet. I don't know if this is supposed to be masculine? Dry: Ah, now it seems to get a more masculine twist. I think that comes from the subtle leather note that is blooming as it warms up on my skin. But I have a hard time spotting leather blends... Still quite clean and crisp. Not masculine in the feral, gritty way. More like a dandy. Overall, a very pleasant and wearable blend. The boyf liked it too, alot it seemed. Funny since the smell reminds me so much of a dapper dandy young man Ultimately, however, this scent reminds me of generic hotel bath products, so I don't think I'll get much wear out of it.

    Greed

Imp: Woody patchouli, mainly Wet: This warms up and I can definately see the resemblance to Luperci only this is woodier, the patchouli is stronger I think, and there is no honey/beeswax element, although it is sweet because of the oakmoss, heliotrope and copal Dry: I really love this. I'm so happy I got to try it! Thank you to whoever it was that frimped me! It's gritty, earthy and sweet. Very natural smelling. And I find it to be a really good GC replacement for Luperci
