Adam from the OLLA line but he is hard to find. maybe quintessense of dust (for the wax and dust) or edge of doom (there's a bit of plastic in it) but mostly ADAM is your man

I love pine/spruce/fir smells. I have an absurd number of bottles and imps that contain said smells. with such a collection, i thought i would just enjoy my decant of this baby, and not need to go full bottle. then I started playing with layering and saw how well it combines with other scents. I can even amp up the pine on my piney scents to ELEVEN. christmas tree magic all the things! no snow, no dirt, no musk or flowers or candles. no delicious resin wafts. just happy sappy sauce.

this plum/champaca combo is my jam, prettied up with a touch of lily, sweetened with a splash of snow from snow white. this has awakened a great hunger in me for more plum/champa scents.
-
many of the notes listed are favorites of mine, but this combo as a whole went detergent-y on me. soft, snowy soap.

I don't know that I connect the scent in this bottle to anything remotely winter (unless you are vacationing away from the snow someplace deliciously tropical) but I adore this scent. bright, fruity, just syrupy-rich enough without going into toothache zone. kinda tropical, kinda citrusy. reminding me of the perfume calyx but not at all a dupe of said scent. much like a vacation to a warm place in the middle of an east coast winter, this was a delightful and refreshing surprise. pretty and brightly feminine.

this is indeed a nice bag of marshmallows, but while it's absolutely fine and dandy and perfect for what it is, it's not giving me the grabby hands that forest and musks and resin scents do. nice, clean, simple, marshy mallowy!

the plum is bright and candy-sweet. the patch and musk are just present enough to keep this from being a pure candy scent. on me, it's a lovely and sophisticated perfume of the fruit persuasion. I like it and can see it's brilliance and beauty, but it's not really a me scent, as I tend to wear resin-heavy blends. the patch and oudh are adding complexity (the vetiver is elusive), but this is more of a pale plum scent, not such a dark shadow. very feminine and pretty. eta never got around to adding this to my sales page, which is a good thing because both the scent in the bottle and my preferences have changed. the patch has come out more, as has the vetiver. together they are light and elegant, but deliciously complex. the scent is now deeper and richer, but compared to many of my favorite bpals (dark resin/musk glorious beasts) this is a gentler resin scent, brightened by the fruit but not enough to make it too candy-sweet or foodie for me. shadow in the elevator shines as an elegant and beautifully tailored fragrance; something about it has also felt very calming and comforting as well. I've been dabbing it on at night and enjoying its wafts as I curl up with a good book or trashy movie.

I was never a fan of tuberose in absolute form (maybe i've not smelled really good ones) but I do love it in perfume blends, esp when the lab uses it. I love ava, and also butterflies flowers and jewels attending. also looking forward to sniffing the head.

I get a lot of beautiful sandalwood when I huff the bottle, followed by a blast of clove with a subtle cayenne-like shadow. on the hair, the scent bounces back and forth between the sandalwood and the clove. the sandal being soft, the clove rather loud. after a few hours, the barest trace of scent remains.
-
absolutely beautiful and I agree with the drakkar reference. not a dead ringer but reminding me of that style of scent. deep dark with a shiny, gritty zing to it. the listed notes are there, but they all play together so smoothly; it's all about the blend. hubba hubba. big throw, long lasting. a nice alternative to the stunning vanilla or floral glosses that post usually offers. thank you, goblins for this treat!

the few bpals I've tried with metallic notes in them have been more unisex/cologne-ish than fruity or floral. the exception is skektek the scientist, "Metal and stone beams of dark light: hyssop, black currant, black viola, passionflower, and myrrh." skektek is gorgeous and feminine. skekung and skekna also have metal notes listed and are both fabulous but quite different. otherwise I highly recommend Wooden bullet from the OLLA scents, kroenen from hellboy, the magician from CP, also look into the few scents with metal notes in the RPG and steamworks line. until the search bar is restored and the lab's website repaired, you can look up scents by notes here: https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/product-directory/

This is a curious one. It starts out blasting mugwort with a gilding of datura. within fifteen minutes it's a light toasting of tobacco garnished with a cool, dry perfume-esque melange of floral and fruit, nothing really standing out besides the tobaccy (which itself is somewhere light and demure). Not the plum, nor the tuberose nor the mugwort. It's feminine without being girly. If you're a fan of the lab's tobacco note, this scent is def worth trying.

I love oakmoss I love pine heck, I even love clary sage, one of the first EOs I ever acquired when I started studying them about a decade ago. metis is . on me it's OAKMOSS dusted in evergreen resin. a little dry; unisex in feel. not super xmas-y/forest-y. warm and grounding and calming. a real beauty. low in throw and lasting only a few hours, but it only arrived yesterday. I adore this. I have a no backup bottle rule, but I might break it for metis. I am excited for this lunacy cycle, especially with this as the intro.

And for so below, I'd recommend goblin as a scent that draws parallels to so below while being its own wonderful creation.

A scent with beautiful wood at the heart of it. I wouldn't be able to guess easily that it's cypress if the notes hadn't told me. There's a pretty brightness over the wood, an almost mint-like coolness to the nose (but not on the skin; it's not actually mint but that's what the bright/cool reminds me of). There's just a touch of sweetness. Very pretty!
-
There is something kinda musty/sweaty from this when fresh. (My guess is the oudh?) It soon dries down to something a little smokey, a little sweet although neither to dramatic levels. Very much feeling like a classic old fashioned perfume.

this topic came up in a thread under chatter. what do you wear when it rains out. feel free to share your favorite rainy day bpal scents here! we don't get too much rain where I live, but we got a little bit today. it was warm and drizzly, and the sweet and cozy patch from So Below smells just perfect in this weather.
-
Nope. Yes is not smokey. It's light and fresh and beautiful.

My favorite vanilla is the YES perfume from the trading post that came with the spirit board. It's beautiful. It's been taken off the site, but if you message puddin and he still has some, I'm sure you could work something out. (The spirit board that I have is also beautiful fyi)

Greasy gear scents from the steamworks line, Gore shock, Mr prenderghast for that shut-in eccentric smell, edge of doom, there's water here, crimson peak, plague scents

I don't know what I was expecting when I blind bought this baby. I had a hunch, and my gamble played off big time. I snagged several beautiful new scents, but this is the one I'm currently gushiest about. The candy note reminds me of the sugared vanilla in the lick its, and not the clean clear candy notes ala jolly rancher aka "if only one knew the right way to change them." This is an anise orange lavender lick it and it's blowing my mind with awesomeness. Total swoony love happening right now between my nose and my arm.
