    The Bear Prince

freshly applied, the bear prince is BIG BIG ROSE. a very juicy, voluptuous rose, but not striking me as necessarily a red one. big throw and lottsss of rosey ooomph. there's a cool crispness about it, but it felt more over-the-top than the rose red i tested in 2013. after about an hour, the a creamy snowy sweetness was coming up to match the rose. (and yes, this did remind me of snow white!) the next morning when I woke up, I could smell some furry musk and traces of snow white, but not much rose. that's a nice amount of staying power. hoping that maybe the fur will come out a little more as it settles, only because I adore the lab's fur note. as it is now, it's a dang fine rich rosey floral.

    Ded Moroz

2015: beautiful soft ambers and warm woods. a light dusting of snow. unisex. there is indeed a comforting gentleness to this scent. very light in throw and longevity, due to newness. lovely. Spoiler

    Cushing Manor Atmosphere Spray

cushing manor is cozy and warm. sweetness from the bay rum and whiskey without smelling "boozy" or bar fly-riffic. the carnation offers that warm, clove-y spice. and the hearth wood gives a rich warm foundation. very unisex. these are big notes, but the throw and longevity are low and light. delicious and addictive

    Fear Nail Lacquer

I love this polish. it caught my eye when Showorchid posted a pic with from a wcwc with it. instabuy. thick with beautiful pigment, creamy, opaque. I only needed one coat. it's a little darker than in the bottle pic and it does dry down slightly darker than in the bottle. it reminds me of a childhood star wars figure, hammerhead. that guy really knew how to rock a nice blue.

    Crimson Clay Nail Lacquer

The glossy carnelian crème of bricks glazed in blood. I have no idea how to direct upload a pic to the forum! I can link to gifs until the update comes home, but getting a pic of my battered hands and painted nails is currently a mystery. so, this polish is a bright, luminous, translucent. even with three coats i can see through it. and while it presents as red, it's not so much red as it is the deepest darkest fuchsia. I was under the impression from the bottle pic that this might be a dark, opaque, creamy red that leaned just ever so slightly more orange than blue, as was my impression of the bubbling clay in the film. the polish is nice, but not what I expected.

    Crimson Peak

crimson peak starts off as a big unisex yule with hints of bpal's lovecraftian elements, and but dries down to something less cologne/perfume and more experience/environment. this smells like the best elements of a beautiful old house with a big chuck of roof missing that let's the outside weather in. the snow, the wood, the clay, the history. it's completely addictive and one of my favorites in a release that is pretty dang solid.

    Ad Montes Oculos Levavi

in the imp, the scent is a high and bright cologne. when applied, the cologne aspect dies down quickly and I smell a bright, light wood and a rich musk. this musk is adorable. it's like a little gothic teddy bear musk. a tattered and faded red velvet teddy bear musk. with some expensive, beautifully carved and slightly varnished fancy woodwork. the throw is nice but it fades quickly, something experience has taught me will improve in a month or so. future bottle buy.

this morning I slathered on some Crimson and it was lovely in the rain.

    Terra Caloris

a light and smooth red musk lightly sweetened by amber, with occasional wafts of subtle spice. very little thyme on me. nothing is amping. this wears warm and dry. although there is a bit of sweetness, it's not at all a sweet blend. the throw is on the lighter side of the red musks scents I've tried, making it perfect for the workplace. lasted all day. the land of heat is a very pleasant place to be. there's a comfortable kind of zen happening here. who knew?

I love muddy puddles! it's such a happy and cozy scent!

    The Smell of an Inn

I've only ever heard of them doing that for international orders, and in that instance, it's probably best to contact both the lab and the post directly and ask. Keep in mind that it's now a holiday weekend in the US and you might not hear back until next week.

    Edith Cushing

I tried the prototype of this at loved to death. it was a soft and elegant vanilla musk with gentle sandalwood. very light and pretty and wearable and delicate. the bottle that I received is quite different. not sure if it's due to changes in formula from prototype to final, batch variations or just a quirk of my bottle being fresh? in the bottle it's very heavy buttery caramel vanilla. when it dries down, the overt syrupy caramel fades and a sweet, rich sandalwood (reminding me of that in dr alan mcmichael) comes forward. the loud foodie aspects of the wet stage fade away and this is nice and wearable and huffable, but it smells very contemporary, while the previous version smelled vintage/classic/old fashioned/mysterious. I'll jump at the chance to get a bottle of the prototype. there was something subtle and unique about it that's been lost. I do like this very much however. sweet rich vanilla sandalwood scent lovers, rejoice! eta, my bottle has since aged into something much less foodie and is now closer to the prototype. huzzah! beautiful, gentle, feminine vanilla-focused scent.

    Yes

the vanilla in this feels so perfectly pure. the sugared lemon almost goes a little cleaner-y on me, but not enough to calm the grabby hands reaction that I had to testing this beauty. very light and pretty. eta wearing this again in 2019. so gorgeous! lightly sweet and bright vanilla sugar with a glow from the citrus (no longer approaching "cleaner"). age has made this deeper and increased the sillage as well. still going strong after eight hours on the job. still a beloved favorite.

    No

the same beautiful deep patchouli from palus putridinis swirled with smooth teak, sweetened with coffee and splashed with cognac. it's a very lovely blend.

    Lady Lucille Sharpe

Gah this is so good. Perfect balance of floral and fruit against warm amber and musk. Perfectly perfume-y. The most sumptuous velvet in liquid form, the color of a bruised kiss scented with a wisp of lacy smoke. A hint of flesh via musk to honor that Lady Lucy has worked so very hard for what she loves and clings to.

    Palus Putridinis

this is dark and sweaty and amazing. heavy on the patch and vetiver, musky leather and cumin. rich and animalistic. I can see this scent as not appealing to the masses, but it's a true treasure to me.

    Lacus Bonitatis

multiple notes of mischief in the description made this an instant pass for me then I smelled and tested it at loved to death, and ended up with a bottle I adore. a bright, sweet, beautiful amber scent with floral and fruit elements. very happy making. lake of goodness indeed!

    The Witches' Sabbath

I'm honestly not much of a fan or wearer of wine scents. that said, I ADORE witches sabbath. it's very much a wine scent, but taken up to new levels of ummmph and mmmmm. juiciness provided by the fruits; velvety richness courtesy of geranium and champaca; musky, resiny depth from the patch and a team-player/not amping wax; tied up in a gorgeous ribbon of smoke. a masterpiece.

    Witches' Kitchen

beeswax prominent, honeyed myrrh adding richness with a hint of sweet, herbs adding complexity. when the lab makes a scent with herbal notes, whether they are used heavily or subtly, it tends to be a win on me. here they are light but noticeable. bpal's beeswax note is a beauty, but it tends to dominate and take over on my skin, making all scents with it feel incredibly similar. so of the ten or so waxy scents that I've worn, this is very wearable and a favorite.
  21. I wonder if http://www.bpal.org/topic/25528-kumari-kandam/would work for you. a little bit snowy, a little bit floral, a little bit earthy. it was one of my first ever full bottle bpals.

A Phantasmagoria: Scene – Conjuring Up an Armed Skeleton

I added this to my decant order on a whim/hunch. thanks the smellie heavens I did, because it's amazing. on me, it's a smokey rosey amber. the leather and the wood add depth to the scent. light and feminine in feel, and very very pretty. absolutely stunning. thank you, beth!

Départ Pour Le Sabbat (Aufbruch Zum Hexensabbat)

this smells rich and sweet/creamy/foodie for the first few hours. the drydown retains the sweetness while some of the heavy richness burns off. I'm honestly not much of a wearer of foodie scents, and this is a little overwhelming to me.

    Dead Leaves, Honey, and Oudh

absolutely stunning in the decant and on wet. sweet floral honey with smokey oudh over a restrained leaf note. bright, sweet, pretty, leaning slightly feminine. in the elbow crook, the scent dries down to the same, but at my wrists the honey note goes waxy-plastic. I love this scent, although I'm not sure i pull it off.

Dead Leaves, Black Pepper, and Sandalwood

absolutely beautiful dead leaves cologne. it's a dry unisex scent. the pepper offeres a subtle kick of spice. the sandal is dry and smooth. one of my two favorite dead leaves scents.
