  1. I bought this for the name because... come on, it's just too good to pass up!

In the bottle and on my skin it starts out all rice wine. Maybe a teensy bit of tea? It smells more like green tea than black tea though. Overall the wet stage is a very green, wet scent. It doesn't smell like bamboo but it sort of puts me in mind of rain covered bamboo...

As it dries it threatens to go soapy. I'm not sure what does that, but it gets past the oh-no-please-no-not-soap stage pretty quickly.

On the drydown it's purely vanilla sandalwood. Though I suppose that's the tonka speaking since there's no actual vanilla listed. But to me, it smells more like vanilla.

It's a very light scent that I have to slather to get anything out of and I have to reapply several times throughout the day.

  2. In the imp: Syrup! With something else sweet lurking behind....

Wet on my skin: still sweet syrup... A little more of the pancake-y smell coming in. It's soooo tasty smelling!!!

Dry: It smells exactly like a stack of pancakes with syrup and butter!!! :yum: I want to bathe in this stuff! seriously! it smells that good. Beth is a goddess of scent!

    :wub2:

  3. A commanding, dominant oil that increases sexual magnetism, creates an intense and irresistible air of attraction, and amplifies potency.

In the imp this is all incense-y and spicy...

After I put it on it's more of the same, I never get any of the florals people are talking about and I'm pretty terrible at identifying what I smell so I don't know what exactly is in it... it's good though!

When it dries down there's a sweetness there that wasn't there before that can only be vanilla... It's not super sweet or foody at all but distinctly vanilla wafting around among the spicyness of the rest of the scent...

  4. In the imp: Citrus-y and a teensy bit minty with leather undertones... Ooohhh I think I'm gonna like this one. The citrus reminds me of Carnal a lot and I love Carnal so big plus there.

Wet on my skin: It moves away from the Carnal feeling and takes on its own kind of citrus-y/fruity smell but a little darker thanks to the leather. I don't get any teak or anything right now but I think there's a little tea in there? It's so light it's hard to tell.

Dry: Wow. I really love this. Not so fruity anymore. It's a little bit floral, a little bit fruit, with the leather tying it all together... I have to get a bottle of this right now. :wub2:

  5. For Valentine's Day I'll be wearing War since that's my boyfriend's favorite... I was going to go with Glowing Vulva since it's my "special occasion" scent because I LOVE it and don't have very much, (and I mean, Valentine's Day, Glowing Vulva... it just seems to fit) but then I asked my BF what he's want me to wear and he said War with almost no deliberation.

so I guess War it is... lol

  6. In the bottle and right away on my skin I get something sweet and mild. I'm assuming that's the sugar cane.

As it dries the beeswax comes out full force and it reminds me of beeswax lip balm my mom used to wear. Unless I sniff my wrist directly all I get is beeswax. Right next to my skin it's flowery, sweet beeswax.

  7. I only sniffed this in the bottle earlier but I got the impression of a very creamy white floral, probably with some vanilla. I'm particularly bad at discerning one floral from another so I couldn't tell ya what exactly it was and I didn't give it an extended sniff. I am very excited to skin test it though and will update when I do.

ETA: Skin test! Within minutes of putting it on my skin the beautiful creamy floral of the bottle scent loses the creaminess and becomes full-on white floral. I think I can detect orchid within the mix, but that's the only specific flower I can pick out. If I sniff closely the whole thing threatens to go... unpleasant on me but the throw is nice white floral, with a bit of sweetness.

I don't get anything darker out of this at all. Just a bunch of white flowers with a bit of cream and sweet around the edges.

  8. In the bottle this is waaay strong. I'm not sure what it is that's so overwhelming but I think it's the amber.

Wet on my skin things even out a bit and and the orange blossom and vanilla sweeten things up nicely.

As it dries I get a little of the powderyness that others seem to get mostly only if I stick my nose right on my wrist to sniff. Overall it's a really beautiful blend and I'm very happy with it.

ETA: wearing this again today I can see why people are saying it smells like Snake Oil. I didn't see it the first time I wore it but I definitely do now. That powderyness of the beginning can read as spicy and a little overwhelming (and spicy-incense-overwhelming is all I get from Snake Oil so yeah...)

  9. Oh my goodness! This is as good as I imagined! :wub2:

I've been lusting after this one for a while now and when the boy asked me what I bottle he should buy me at Will Call the other day I told him Misk. U.

When I opened the bottle to sniff it my first reaction was "woah! that is strong!" A foody, coffee, creamy kinda sorta chocolate-y (?) scent. It's hard to narrow it down but in the bottle none of the book or wood smells make themselves apparent. When I gave the bottle to my sister to sniff she said it smelled like cake and I can see how she would get that. In the bottle and at first on the skin it's pretty foody.

Wet on my skin and drying it keeps its pure coffee & cream scent. I generally slather pretty well but it seems I will need to hold back with this one as it is quite potent.

Now, 5 hours later that little bit is still going strong. If I put my nose right on my wrist and sniff it gets a kind of plastic-y after-smell (like aftertaste but after-smell...) But I can smell whiffs of it all around me and it is beautiful. with no hint of plastic. It seems to have deepened a little from just coffee & cream, I can juuuust barely smell something else behind it but I can't tell what it is. I think with some age this is going to become an even more beautiful and complex scent.

  10. In the bottle: boozy red fruit. I'm not sure if it's fig or berries or what... I'm thinking it's more the berries though. A teensy bit creamy...

Wet on my skin: definitely berries soaked in booze. And I guess that's fig in there, I'm having a hard time picking it out. The whole thing is dark somehow...

As it dries it gets a little more creamy. I have to keep re-sniffing and thinking about what I smell. I think there's a note (or notes) in here I'm having a really hard time pinning down. I guess it's the "paper bag" part? I'm not really getting any leather, or at least none that's saying "here I am! look at me! leather here!" maybe it's down there in the juuuust cant quite seem to catch it range, hiding behind the fruit and the booze and I just cant pick it out.

  11. Mmmmmm! This could be one of my new favorites!

In the bottle and wet on my skin it's spicy! Not burning my skin but wow... I guess that's the ginger?

I've never tried any BPAL with patchouli (I was kind of afraid it would be too dark) but nothing in this scent is too dark. At first the spice seems similar to what I smelled in Scherezade (All I got out of that was spice, no musk). I wore this all day and after a while the super-spicy calmed down into something almost fruity (dunno where that came from) and kinda sweet, I'm assuming from the honeysuckle. I only applied to my wrists and neck but I could smell it wafting around me.

ETA: I have to say, this is a favorite for me. I tend to think of it as my scent. I switch it up so much that I don't really have a "signature scent" but if I did, this would definitely be it. It's like slipping onto a smooth, warm leather jacket that fits you perfectly. That's worn in just the right places. Sexy and comfortable and perfect!

  12. In the bottle: spicy vanilla, mmmm.

Wet on my skin: the same spicy vanilla with a touch of floral hiding behind it.

Dry: The spice reveals itself as defiantly ginger... it's not screaming ginger and the vanilla isn't too sweet or foody. And there's a floral note that seems white to me, not too overwhelming.

  13. Yay! I just got my swap of Love's Philosophy! I'm so glad I got a chance to swap for this.

In the bottle it smells like cream soda... okay but not the lovelyness I'd expected.

Wet on my skin it's creamy and lovely and mmmmmmm... vanilla cream yummy. the cream soda thing went away pretty fast.

Dry I get some funky Vicks Vapo-Rub smell which must be the saffron acting up because cream usually works for me and so does vanilla but I can't remember trying anything with saffron as a main note... (or maybe my skin chemistry is just wonky right now)

Dry later... ahhh good, no more Vicks just creamy vanilla teensy bit spicy to ground it and keep it from smelling too super sweet. It reminds me of whipped cream with a tiny pinch of yellow spice sprinkled on top. Very comforting. :)

  14. In the bottle this is heavy teak. Like an old spiced wood chest you'd find in an attic. But once it's on my skin it sweetens up with the vanilla and there's something else in there which I'm guessing is the tobacco?

I kinda put a lot on by accident but it's nice... it's strong but sexy. Spicy wood and a bit of vanilla (it's the same almost-sweetness as something else but I can't pin it down)

Mmmm... this is really nice. It's spicy and sexy and also kind of comforting in a way I can;t really describe or understand.

I'm so glad I bought an impulse bottle un-sniffed. :D

  15. As soon as I opened the imp my first thought was "wow, this smells like massage oil that I have!" (Karma Sutra Sweet Almond massage oil) and I had to get out the bottle to sniff it and it does smell almost exactly like it though the BPAL oil smells a bit more perfume-y... leading me to believe there is some almond in this.

On my skin some other elements start to come out... I can't really be more specific because I can't really pin anything down. It smells just the tiniest bit powdery but it's not bad. Maybe there's some cherry in there...? but not bright, fruity cherry. It's dark and sexy...

Also... some spicy, incense-y sort of smell a bit later. Every time I sniff my wrist it's different!

This is a very "wow" scent... dead sexy... and very very strong! apply in moderation! I am a slatherer and this is one of the oils with which I have to resist my urge and use just a drop at each wrist and maaaaybe a bit on my neck.

I didn't get any rose at all from this. Usually rose and my skin chemistry do not play nice together but I didn't have any problems at all.

  16. (This is the 08 version) Honestly, I love this scent! It's sweet and lightly snowy (a bit of pine maybe) and after a while of wear a teeny bit of floral peeks its head in but it's gone almost before you can notice it was there.

This is the type of thing I would wear if I didn't want something too strong, but still noticeable. It's definitely everything I thought it would be and more.

ETA: I tried the 05 version and it smelled almost the same but there was some funkyness to the smell that I couldn't quite put my finger on... Maybe it was just my body chemistry acting up that day or something but whatever it was I didn't like it.

  17. In the bottle: I have to sniff a few times, I don't really smell... anything coming from the bottle.

Wet, first applied: Hmmmmm..... this smells exactly like Snake Oil does when I first put it on. just not as strong. Which may not be such a good thing... I mean, it's not bad, it's just the smoky, incense-y, spices part (which is all this is to me. I'm getting none of my beloved red musk) is not my favorite.

Drying/dry: Now I have some weird rice smell mixed in with the Snake Oil smell... ugh.

I think I should wash this off and try again when I'm not a week away from mother nature's monthly gift

. Maybe my chemistry's wonky or something. I really want to love this, it sounds so good!!!

  18. In the bottle: all I smell is faint lemon. nothing else... really. The person who decanted this for me was kind enough to include the notes on the label and I'm getting no tea, or leather or anything else beside a faint lemony smell if i put my nose reeeeeally close to the imp and sniff.

On my wrist: oooh there's the leather peeking out a tiny bit. It's not De Sade smoke-and-leather it's lighter... and very faint. I can only smell it if I put my nose right on my skin and huff.

And 5 minutes after I put it on it's vanished. I think this could have been a great scent. I liked the sound of all the notes... but alas. My skin ate it.

  19. In the bottle this is all floral. Like sniffing some sort of white flower full on.

Once it got on my skin it sweetened up a bit but still very floral-y... kinda disappointing as I was hoping for more of the cream aspect.

It reminds me of something that I can't put my finger on. I've seen people compare it to Alice, maybe that's it (I've only tested Alice once so I'm not really sure).

eta: I've figured it out... It's the carnation I'm smelling so much. My skin amps carnation like nobody's business so that's pretty much all I can smell. And it reminds me so much of Alice because the carnation in that was so strong on me.

Zarita smells amazing on me for like 5 minutes. beautiful sweet cream and orange blossoms then the carnation goes RAWR! and completely takes everything over. :cry2: I want exactly this without carnation!

  20. Has anyone found anything that's similar to VS's Snowplum? I think it's a limited edition for holiday/wintertime.

I've tried google searching and literally the best description I could come up with was this - Snow plum: A sugar-frosted mix of juicy plums.

So It might be more helpful if you've actually smelled it. It's a very nice scent. Fruity but not overly so, and kinda sugary I guess, but not sweet in a foody way. It's kinda hard to pin down.
