    Snooty Rose

Snooty Rose: nice, warm, juicy scent with warm sandalwood. I guess I don't like bergamot in every blend, but it dries up pretty quickly in favor of red sandalwood and plum on me which is AWESOME. The only real complaint I have is that this Rose is too soapy for my tastes, I'm JUST starting to experiment with roses and I know this is the type I would not choose to wear! Snooty Rose has such warm notes to accompany it though that the rose stays waaaaay down in the background, for those that do like soapy rose!

    Rose Red

I am not a rose person, but this opened my world up. Straight out of the mail I was shocked. Cold, cut rose. This is amazing. It's a 'Bpal experience' more than just a scent test. I grabbed for it this morning while still laying in bed and looking out over the misty mountains through my window and this paired with that as the most evocative thing...I have never been so speechless about a Bpal.

    The Unquiet Grave

Instant blast of cool soap. Sweet for a millisecond. Then back to a veeerry heady bar of soap. My wrist immediately became a picture of an after shower lather. This stage lasts a good ten minutes or more. Sneeze inducing. Like a dog whistle, but for my sinuses. After, I can almost pick out, during the dry down, the scent of dead-ish and crispy flowers of some kind. When it truly starts to dry there is a slight sweetness to it that peeks out from the searing soap. Just barely though. Still a bar of Dove for the most part. I think the sweetness is the gardenia? I had a gardenia perfume once called, 'The Pinup,' and it was really sweet, so I'm attributing what I think was that to this. After the soap has its major histrionic freak out, I can somewhat dig the scent on my wrists. It becomes a cold and dead white bouquet...covered in soap suds. If it didn't have the soapy flower, whatever that is that is giving it that vibe...I might be able to jive with it. I was so hoping for vanilla from the orchid to soften it up...that would have been beautiful. I have a full bottle I blind bought, and since I've tried it three times with the same results...I think I might swap it away...

    Witch Dance

2016. Yeah! Love this one! My two go to' for red musk are going to be this now, for darker wear and Moriarty for light wear. This is just awesome! Simple, warm red musk and smokey incense. I don't get any other notes, but that's fine. I'd order a 2nd bottle.

    Samhain

First time trying Samhain also. Objectively...this is a really lovely scent. I was afraid it would have that 'store at an apple orchard bowl of potpourri' vibe, but it really doesn't. The woodsy/dead leaves/patchouli part is so smooth, aura-like, and has a medium throw. I'm just not a huge fan of baked/spice apple scents. It's just not me. I don't even like the smell of apple cider or pie on holiday. For those of you who do, this is blended perfectly and I understand why it's so popular!

    Pumpkin Sugar

Pumpkin Sugar: in the bottle, brown sugar. It scared me because I definitely do not want to smell like brown sugar at all. I neglected testing it for a week for that reason. It was pretty cool out today, so if any time was appropriate to test this scent, I thought today would be. Wet, on skin...no brown sugar! Strong vegetable pumpkin note, which I love...then WHITE sugar! There is a spice in there, and I believe that is what contributed to my initial interpretation of brown sugar. Dries down to pure sugar with pumpkin settled in behind, and a sprig of spice just to warm it up. I could see myself springing for another bottle maybe. I haven't tested all the gourmand weenies yet, but this is a pretty good one until I do.

    Cheesecloth Ghosts

REALLY weird. Pretty simple. It starts out in the bottle and skin as a weird green ozone ish scent with the slightest green juicy edge. It shortly dries down to exactly what the first poster said: basically stick your face in between the plastic/rubber/cloth props and the greasepaint makeup section at Halloween express...and you have Cheesecloth Ghosts. It's pretty awesome. Also strong.

    Roses, Pearls, and Diamonds

Ha! I've found a rose blend that works! I haven't been able to give up the search, because I am one of those who receive the blessed grandma powder instead of rose with most scents. This is juicy, creamy, and a very 'round' type scent! Fresh too! Definitely red, despite the other scents! Upon application/dry down for me...the entire time is just rosy, and I feel the other notes just exist to transform the perspective of the rose. I'll have to decide if this is really my type enough to warrant a bottle, but for people who fear the rose...this one will probably work for you!

    Penny Dreadful

Straight up earth in the bottle. I love it. On...it floats between fresh earth dirt and some sexy perfume that reminds me of penny dreadful ladies with their bust pushed up and their pantyhose strapped in. It's pretty straightforward in the description! This is actually one of the sexiest perfumes I have ever worn. It was just a GC I decided to check out randomly after years of bpal'ing. I'm totally in love. It leered in this tomato soup smell territory for a few seconds but I really don't care because it's absolutely sexy and incredible.

    De Vos’ Unicorn

This is a really awesome scent for me, because I'm totally unfamiliar with light scents like this on a daily basis. I like heavier, spicy, incense blends as a general rule. This absolutely shocked me as being one of the most beautiful light, breathy scents I have honestly ever smelled. I got a bottle fresh off of eBay and I think I'm going to order another, I love it THAT much. I smell all of it upon opening the bottle, except for the apricot. It's a sugary, light blue cloud of the lightest tingle from vanilla rose, velvety peony, musky hard lavender, all completely tamed and rolled in a cool must of mallow root. And it IS the root...which is such an earthy and lovely mallow. Ever so lightly of a powder on the skin, which resembles more of a dust upon mallow. Sugary rose and vanilla. Dries down to a conglomeration of all the notes. I am so in love. I can't believe how some scents seduce certain people! I am buying backups, as I said before, and I have never done that with any LE.

    Jacob's Ladder

I purchased a 2010 overflow bottle from Etsy to try this, it had gotten such good reviews and I was on an amber kick so I thought this would be perfect. Needless to say, I'll be buying more. Initially, I'm a little unfamiliar with how most of the notes in Jacob's Ladder smell individually, beside the amber and tonka! I can provide, however, as much of a specific explanation as possible to make up for what I don't know. Opening the bottle, I find this scent to be pretty masculine. Cold-ish, maybe that is the benzoin? Almost like a whiff of some men's Axe deodorant, the Dark Temptation kind. A cold, brown scent. Amber keeps it a little warm, but I don't smell the sweetness that is tonka yet. On skin: I was sort of weary applying it because the masculine aspect of it stays initially. It's almost pine-y. Again, I'm not totally familiar with the rest of the scents...so whatever in it that smells like pine or dark green foliage...it's in there at this stage! I think I remember the benzoin now from Lightning, it smells like ozone? It gives Jacob's Ladder an kind of metallic note. I'd say the scent is a dark grey/gunmetal/brown/dark green scent now. If it were to stay at this stage I don't think I'd like it. Ahhh! This is where the ABSOLUTE BEAUTY comes in. It morphs quickly into a beautiful yellowy, amber scent. The tonka smooths any rough edges out, and it becomes sweet and snuggly. It still has a light pine-y smell in the background, but it is so balanced and earthy that way! It's just lovely. Warm and lovely. I believe this earthy scent is what keeps the Amber from becoming powder, like another reviewer stated. I have a bottle of Amber Musk from Whole Foods, and although it's beautiful, it had a juicier quality that turns to powder pretty quickly, and I prefer this to that

    Stale Sugar-Crusted Marshmallow Chick

Bottle: Sweet butter? On skin: Has a buttery popcorn scent, salty and buttery mixed with sugar. Definitely crusty like a peep. Dry: Pure marshmallow! Love this scent...like a lavender colored peep! Definitely should have ordered more.

    Obatala

Just coconut. I've tried it about three times...I'm not ready to give up yet, but so far Obatala in the imp, on my skin, and dry is just coconut. I don't catch any Shea butter, any water, or anything that would remotely make this scent appear to be any creamier, drier, softer, cooler...or any adjective more than coconutty. It's a coconut single note on me.

    King Cobra (2006)

In bottle: This scent is pretty simple to detect all the way through because of the very few notes. In the bottle I get a strong whiff of what I think may be copal? Completely earthy and claylike. Smells like a sweet cave! If that's copal, I LOVE it!!!!! On skin: Copal and a few seconds later I suppose the white frankincense and orris. The white frankincense is really nice...but faint? Dry: Orris (I think) smells like a pink flower? This and Snake Oil...though only a hint of Snake Oil. It turns out to be an okay scent. If the copal stayed with the scent for the duration, I would be in love with King Cobra. I'm going to try it a few more times to see if the copal survives after the initial blast, if not, I could take it or leave it.

    Alice

In bottle: something spicy/cinnamon like, with the slightest roundish milk note to provide creaminess. I can't smell the actual milk, but something is taking the edge of the carnation. On skin: bergamot first and foremost. Bergamot, rose, and carnation. I was hoping for more milk! Dry down: I want to try this a few more times, because I want more out of it. It's not bad on my skin at all, just isn't what everyone else is getting. It's just mostly creamy carnation after I apply it and after the initial bergamot, all the way to the dry down.

    What's the best coconut blend?

Death Adder from the Snake Pit is such a beautiful dark coconut. If vetiver doesn't bother you.

    Bewitched

In bottle: blackberry and sage On skin: I get that warm, herby, smoky sage for about a second, then mostly blackberry Dry: A warm, tart, beautifully herb'd blackberry. It's so clean and smooth! I can definitely smell the tea in it as well...that tea note is so luscious. Never smelled the lab's green tea note until Green Tree Viper. This scent is definitely unique...I've worn the imp several times enough to warrant my want for a big bottle!

    Grooming Scene in a Brothel

This has a lot of beautiful notes...I just wish they came together differently on me. If there was more of a vanilla to detect in this I don't think the Rose would go that soapy on me. It's a tad soapy in the bottle. On my skin it is initially a blast of soapy/peppery saffron/carnation/rose. I can smell the wood. I think this would be more beautiful on someone who likes rose. I've tried it new...and I tried it aged a few months. I don't want to give it up just yet, but I can't see wearing it if it stays this soapy.

    Death Adder

Bottle is smoky coconut and hot grass! Super exotic. I didn't know exactly how vetiver smelled, scents I've tried with it don't exactly showcase it as this oil does. Dries to an awesome smoky, milky and dark coconut, with slight vetiver. The vetiver does not dominate this blend in me...kind of sinks back on the dry. The vanilla is probably what milks out the smoky coconut, and I am not sure what opoponax smells like...but even without being sure this is a beautiful, dark, coconut/vanilla smoke.

    Green Tree Viper

OMG...so awesome. This is the 2016 version: I was worried initially that this would be really minty and green...too sharp and strong for my liking. The reviews were pretty plain in that it probably would be... Wet and in the bottle: Slight mint, but already I can smell the green tea and bergamot. On skin: Initially it is a green tea scent, pretty strongly! I can smell the bergamot too...and barely any mint at all. The mint still creeps up though, and it's almost right at the edge of the sniff. I love this! Dry: About five minutes into it the Snake Oil pops out! It's awesome! Green tea and Snake Oil...so beautiful. I was really hoping that it would be this good!!!!!!

    Boomslang

YES! Act 3 has returned and I bought an obscene amount of 5 mls because the snake pit is infamous, and what else am I going to do with my money. Nothing. Snake Oil is mostly my HG, so I wasn't too worried about any of these going funky on me. I figured I'd like most, if not all of them. In bottle: Cocoa! A thin mint/peanut buttery scent! I'm getting that peanut scent I think from the spices of Snake Oil/chocolate. Wet on skin: Careful! It stains orangey a bit. I think for the very first time I am getting the play doh scent people always talk about! I don't get this with regular Snake Oil. It also doesn't really bother me too much, as I know it's a thin wisp of a phase and I only notice it when it's close to my nose. So far, just dark Snake Oil! I like the cocoa, I kind of wish it were louder and fudgier! I can definitely tell that I am wearing a different oil though. I can smell the teak I think...its woody and sharp. Its pretty rad because it gives the decadent cocoa/vanilla spice a good balance. Not getting the rice milk...yet. Dry: I get rice milk! It turned the cocoa into a chocolate milky creamy scent, with Snake Oil strong underneath. I think I need to wear this more before I decide if I need another. So far, Snake Oil is better to me...only because all these notes are so incredible in Boomslang but I don't really detect any of them as nicely as Id like. This scent to me is mostly Snake Oil. Can't wait to let it age!

    Eat Me

In bottle: cake with vanilla whipped cream and some tart currants! On skin: a little tart still, currant blending really nicely with the whipped vanilla cake smell! The vanilla is really substantial and deep, even if it is sort of a light fragrance altogether. There is a breaded *almost* gingery quality to it for warmth. Dry down: a soft and bready vanilla with a soft berryish currant tone. Not much else to add to all the other reviews, a little too whipped vanilla and foodie to be a vanilla I'd wear regularly...but it's pretty lovely, and I do wear it when I want a light and fresh sweet scent!

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2015)

In bottle: VERY 'perfumey' and medicinal...I've never tried the original...but I share what other reviewers are getting initially...just very red. On skin: Vanilla and red! Smokey...Oh man...I have worn it a couple times but didn't review it until now...and it is WILDLY different after aging a bit. SO MUCH SEXY. Drydown: Sexy red vanilla smoke. With a tiny drop of adult...perhaps booze. It is PERFECT now that it has aged. I need to see if I can get a bottle or two again now that I have seen the aging.

    Monster Bait: Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary! Thankfully it doesn't smell like a Bloody Mary...memory vomit In bottle: Dark cherry and cream On skin:It smells like sexy girly red leather. If red leather had a scent associated with its color. Musty-ish. It has a definite associative quality...like the scent of a comic con...all the makeup and costumes...fog machines. Its got a light candy scent as well. Its definitely fun. Drydown: Pretty solid the whole way through. I can't decide if I like it or not, because it has the ability to be kind of blandly dark cherry to me...but also a deep inhale makes me think it would be wildly sexy. It has that smooth cream quality. I feel kind of similar about all the Monster Bait blends I have tried...I like them, but I don't know if I really need them...but I can't stop sniffing them...I don't know!! 4/5!

    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

Tokyo Stomp... In bottle: At first I thought it was that cakey gingery scent that a few of the other Monster Baits seem to have.... On skin: Cool vanilla! Whoa...much mint. More like a dinner mint than a peppermint. Its not harsh, and the vanilla itself may have something to do with that. It still has that cakey ginger smell...is this some type of vanilla these blends use? Underpants, biggerCritters, and Tokyo Stomp all so far have that...so I am assuming it is a certain type of vanilla. Dry: A very cool, pretty, spicy vanilla mint. Beautiful. I just don't like mint BUT IF YOU DO: Sooo incredibly smooth and beautiful.
