BPAL scents appropriate for very young children?
femmefatale replied to beetiger's topic in Recommendations
My kids like to wear: Candy Phoenix Swank Anything chocolate-y or fruity And Jailbait (which is just wrong and I can't quite let them wear it) My youngest (20 months) loves to sniff anything I'm wearing. Whenever I'm wearing my locket, the first thing she does is sniff it and say "mmmm''. But now if my mom, sister, etc holds her, she reaches for their necklace, sniffs it, then looks at them like "Hey, what's up with this? It's broken, no smelly". She also walks around and holds her arm out for people to sniff it. -
Smoky Moon 2009: Tristesses de la Lune

This is an interesting one. At first it went rather soapy smelling and I almost washed it off, but I figured that since I was about to shower I would let it sit for a while. I had also decided quickly to swap it. Now I'm not so sure. The soapiness mostly faded and it became far more complex. I expected this to be heavier on the smoke, but it's not. The previous reviewers who referred to this as being "hazy" are dead on. It's not a humid scent though, and not overly floral (thankfully, because I am NOT a floral person). There is a sweetness to this that keeps it from going masculine and has a light incense feel to this, but it is not heavy or resinous. This is a very difficult scent to describe. It feels vaguely ghostly and dreamy to me, but with more substance. Like that world between dreaming and reality. I'm not completely sure it's me, so I'll have to give it some thought about whether or not I'll keep it, but I'm very happy I tried it. -
Sadly, this smells a bit sour and off on me. I'm not sure why, but I think the wine and clove aren't playing well together on my skin.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

To me Lamia is a spicier version of Sin. -
Definitely Wulric. Also, I have a bottle of TKO massage oil that I like better than the perfume oil. It doesn't seem as sweet to me, but it is still strong enough that I only use a very little.

On me this smells like clove, cinnamon, amber perhaps, red musk (?), something slightly sweet (maybe vanilla or tonka), and I think tobacco since there is a vaguely sweet smokey quality to it, but definitely not vetiver. I looooove this. It's super sexy and beautiful.

Sounds like Coral Snake to me. I don't get any lemon in SSV, but CS have lemon peel in it.

This is so much better and much more wearable than I expected it to be! At first this is mostly a creamy white rose with a bit of bonfire smoke and incense. As it begins to dry down the bonfire smoke comes out more, but the white rose is still there offsetting the sharpness. That phase only lasts a couple minutes and the vetiver dies down, then a spiciness from the bay rum comes out. mmmm.....It ends up a slightly spicy, slightly creamy rose incense with the barest hint of a distant summer fire. I love this! For some reason it reason it reminds me of Gypsy Queen (though a bit smokier perhaps), though they really don't share any notes other than smoke, incense, and some form of rose. I must amp those notes, so that's why they seem to be in the same family to me. I can see wearing it this summer in the evenings and a ton during the fall/winter. I might need a back up bottle! ETA: Ooooh, the bay rum is coming out more, but yet it hasn't turned masculine. Gorgeous! ETA again: Ok, so I loved this so much I got a back up bottle. My second bottle is a bit different than my first; much heavier on the bonfire smoke. I love it also! I can see wearing the second one a lot during the fall & winter.

Wow! I like this so much more than I expected. At first it's a blast of fresh sweet banana, then it smells more like a banana cream pie. After a couple minutes the metal note comes out (which I'm normally not a fan of) but it balances out the sweetness of the banana perfectly and makes the blend very wearable. After drying a little further a slightly spicy note comes out and I can smell the crust of the pie more. This is far more complex and not as foody as I expected, a bit strange, but absolutely fantastic. I love it!

This is a very pretty, bright smelling (and strong!) aquatic blend. Unfortunately, it's a bit too perfumey for my taste. It reminds me a lot of a perfume I used to wear years ago (something like Happy or Sunflowers, I can't remember which). It really is a lovely scent, just not "me". I think I'll see if my sister would like this one, it's probably more her type of thing.

This is how it morphed on me: Bowl full of strawberries covered in sugar. Bowl full of strawberries, covered in sugar, being eaten outside in a field. Summertime, sunshine, green grass, strawberries, sugared juice dripping off my chin. Strawberries are now eaten, but there's the lingering scent of sweetness on my fingers mingling with the grass and dandelions around me. This is just beautiful. I love it.

This smells exactly like Graveyard Dirt plus Banana Peel in a Graveyard (minus the banana) with something vaguely red and claylike. After a little while a wood note (I think that is what it is) comes out, though it doesn't take over the blend, it just adds to it. After about 45 minutes something a bit herbal and medicinal and a bit green is there also. Verrry interesting and far more complex than I expected. This is really wonderful! I am so happy I was able to get a bottle.

Stale sad perfume. That's all I get. I can't even pick out any of the notes. Must wash off. Now.

So sad. i love the rum and honey mead in this, but the hazelnut and almond is ruining it for me.

Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?

Initially this was mostly ylang ylang tempered by red musk. Once it's on though the ylang ylang calms down and the red musk and patchouli comes out (though it's not dirty smelling, not that I would've minded ). The myrrh is in the back ground and I think is what is going slightly powdery (in a good way). This is a beautiful blend and not as much sexy as sensual on me. I really like this and I'm so happy I didn't let the ylang ylang scare me off.

I completely agree with this. Is is slightly bohemian, but not hippie, and somewhat comforting. I really like the beginning where it starts out as fresh roses and quickly morphs into a mix of fresh & dried roses and greenery mixed with woods. But then something a bit off comes out and ruins it for me. Oh well. I have plenty of wonderful rose scents so I'm not too upset. I'm glad I got to try it and maybe I'll give it a shot in my locket.

My favorite coconut blends (in no particular order): Tiki King Goblin Death Adder The Star Some others I really like that have coconut, but not really coconut-y on me: Snake Charmer Creepy Ashlultum Brown Jenkins (coconut at first, more woodsy as it dries) Upa Upa (a bit of coconut, but then goes mostly spicy) Ones I did not like: Obatala (made me sick to my stomach every time I've tried it) Eden (not very coconut-y and went...off on me) Black Pearl (no coconut at all)
-
OMG, I can't believe I forgot about Death Adder and Elegba! Those are another 2 favorites.
-
It doesn't have vanilla, but Goblin (coconut, patchouli, benzoin) is easily in my top 10.
-
I wish I got that from Snow White. No coconut at all for me. In fact, it smelled like play-do. I am soooo jealous of the people that get coconut. I about cried when I tried it.

I haven't tried this in a long time, so I thought I would give it a shot today. I'm so glad I did! It is definitley a morpher! Starts out rather green and fresh, but not sharp, then goes through a short soapy phase (just a few minutes). After that the florals come through, but it's not screaming FLOWERS. It's a very earthy floral with a hint of grass and incense. But once it's dried down a saltiness comes out strangely and it smells like a churchyard on the sea (but no soap or air freshener here, just real salt air). I like it a lot, just wish it lasted longer.

I just received this as a frimp and omg, I love it! Wow! It's green and herbally, without being sharp or turning to soap. There is an initial rush of lime, but that fades almost immediently. I can catch the mint, but it's not overwhelming and adds a touch of coolness to the blend. I think I can smell the lavender, but it's really soft and compliments the green notes nicely. My only complaint is that it fades very quickly. I'm going to have to try this in a scent locket to see if it sticks around longer.
