Oils to relax, calm, soothe, restore your sanity...
glampyre replied to Shollin's topic in Recommendations
Miggins, thank you for the hug! I do have Old Morocco, I've been trying the voo doo oils out lately, and haven't worn it for awhile. I'll test it out on Monday. Here's to the weekend... Congrats to us for making through another week! -
I am SO pleased with Red Moon. I knew from its description (and from reading all of the reviews) that I would love it, and I do. Dragon's blood is awlays a good thing, and adding marigolds and chamomile can only make it even better. Marigolds were such a brilliant choice to put in this late summer oil, as they always signify the end of summer to me. Bright, calming, deep...very red-orange-rust. I love it.

Dragon's Tears ...is interesting in the way it is so full and deep, yet light and aquatic at the same time. How do they DO that??! It's spicy, clean, light-yet-powerful. Very soothing, calming...exactly what I've been looking for! This would be excellent dribbled into a hot bath.

WOW. Dragon's Bone is soooo rich! Dragon's blood mixed with (my favorite) Sandalwood! And the woody, dry orris...excellent. (rubs hands a le Mr. Burns.)

Thank you! It's just the general atmosphere here, some days are fine and then...BAM. I never know when it's coming, I am just taken aback by a rude comment or attack. It can be long stretches in between where things are good, and I love my job...then a couple bad weeks. So I'm looking for something to keep in my desk or in my bag for sanity emergencies. I do really appreciate all of your suggestions, I even already have a few of the ones mentioned. I'm going to make a little box for my desk drawer and keep a few on hand! -
Sin. Completely Fucking Rocks. I love sandalwood. I love it as perfume alone, mixed with other notes, as incense, any time, any place, for any purpose, I love sandalwood. I love it even MORE in Sin. Cinnamon and amber are perfect compliments and make the patchouli completely wearable. I'm normally rather anti-patchouli, but I really like it in this blend. It's there, but in a very non freshman dorm way. Bravo! (Edited, as usual, for typing.)

Oh Wow. Loralei is dreamy. Neroli always rocks, and with the sandalwood and ylang ylang, it's just completely gorgeous! Beautifully light floral, with a sandalwoody backdrop. yummy yummy yummy.

Arkham is, indeed, very tingly. The verbena is quite intense in the beginning, and dries to blend with and uplift the lavendar, nutmeg, and evergreens. It emotes intensity, speed, alertness and, yes, madness.
-
Wow. Damnation is dark. Like deep, dark earth, woods, mosses, very animal. This has to be the darkest of the BPALs I've smelled to date. It's haunting and sort of scary, actually.
-
Akuma is yet another BPAL oil that I could just drink right from the bottle! The creaminess of the neroli, the bright, fresh citrus of the Blood orancge, and the sweet raspberry are a perfect combo! Truly delightful!
-
Storm SO smells like rain! Spring rain on fresh-cut grass, new flowers, and citrus trees. Very fresh, light, airy...I think it would make a great meditation blend.
-
I think that for me, Loup Garou is a little bit too woodsy to wear. I love the way it smells, and will use is as a room scent this winter! It starts out super evergreen, and mellows to a nice, comforting man-scent.Quite elegant and pretty.
-
Hatian Lover Dark, rich incense, vanilla, almonds, deep dark wood. This is amazingly good on me.
-
Bordello Smells like a room full of white lace, pink velvet ribbons, red velvet pillows, and purple silk bedding. It's bright and sweet, with rich liquor undertones. Delectible. I've got O on one arm and Bordello on the other...my heart is racing. I smell soooo hot! These would be great layered together...probably verrrry dangerous! (Edited to fix the inevitable typos)
-
O, man! O is SOOoooOOOooOOOooOOoooOoo sexy! I just licked my own arm, just in case it tastes as good as it smells. (It doesn't) If I did that to myself, imagine how other people are going to react! I must have a big bottle of this. I'm going to order it soon, because this imp won't last long!
-
Old Kyoto ...is spicy in a light, airy way. Very tasty! It isn't as intense as some of the Asian-spicy BPALs (Djinn, for example.) Immediately on the skin, it smells like sweet, spicy cherrywood, and dries to a soft, subltle version of the same.

Thank you - thank you - thank you! I really appreciate your responses. I think that any little thing I can do tip the power balance in my favor will help. That's what I love so much about BPAL, it's just for ME. -
I love havisham! It's so rounded and pretty! It's bright and clear and almost frozen-smelling. I can't pick out any specific notes, but I think it's great for grey days I want to revel in. This'll be great for when I wake up, it's raining, and I have to schlep my whole self to work when I what I really want is to go back to bed.

I've been dealing with a lot of pressure at work, and I would really like to wear something that might help diffuse tense situations without putting me to sleep. Which are your favorite chill-the-fuck-out blends? -
Fire of Love Deep, spicy wood. Very carnal. Extremely emotive.
-
Dragon's Blood. I have yet to give Dragon's Blood a test in a voodoo sort of way. As a perfume, it's sweet and sort of rosey-lilacy with dark woodsmells.
-
Hey! A wearable patchouli oil! If anyone could do it, it would be Black Phoenix. I like patchouli, but I don't like smelling like a head shop. In Imp, the patchouli is really well-balanced by the musk, amber, and peach. I honestly didn't think it was possible for patchouli to be so beautifully wearable. Thank you for this!
-
To me, debauchery smelled like leather, tobacco, and rich, dry wood. I think it will be a great perfume for autumn, as it really conjures fireside images.
-
I love deep, dark perfumes. Black lotus is almost too dark, even for me! The lotus is amazing on top of the resins. As it dries, the lotus becomes more and more the focus of the scent, until it remains a really pretty, delicate floral.
-
Lilac is my favorite flower-smell, and I'm absolutely pro-sandalwood. () They smell absolutely great together.
