GAUDIUM True joy is a serious thing – Seneca Enflame your delight in everyday things, and fill yourself with enthusiasm for life’s little joys. Geranium, bitter orange, lavender, lemon verbena, and pink grapefruit. For those that love the scent of Pontia (lavender and bergamot), this is a bath oil you'll enjoy. Please note that my review is based on a decant in spray form. I sprayed it directly on my skin. The initial scent was very much lemon verbena. It had a lemon Lifesaver scent to me, not so much like Pledge. I expected to pick up the grapefruit sharpness and maybe I did for a few seconds but it wasn't long. I love a good sharp grapefruit and was hoping for more. The dry down is heavy bitter orange with lavender. So good! I definitely want to give it a test in the bath. I will be purchasing a bottle in the future.

As a child my father would take me to the horse barns. While he and his friends sat on upside down plastic buckets and chatted, I would hang out with the horses. This scent reminded me of that right away. It's funny because I had not seen the other reviews that said the same. I smell old wood and leather. I did not pick up any of the fruity/citrus scents that others have mentioned. I prefer the sweet leather scent of Mutter's U so this will not be a keeper for me.

This is quite strong on the sap scent. It's herbal with a touch of weak pine. I really have to work to find the honey in it. I've had it on for about 30 minutes and Ash Manna has remained the dominant note.

BREAD-AND-BUTTER-FLY `Crawling at your feet,' said the Gnat (Alice drew her feet back in some alarm), `you may observe a Bread-and-Butterfly. Its wings are thin slices of Bread-and-butter, its body is a crust, and its head is a lump of sugar.' `And what does IT live on?' `Weak tea with cream in it.' Bread, lightly buttered, with weak tea, cream, and a lump of white sugar. This arrived fresh from the lab today. The initial scent is very much bread like with homemade butter and a touch of sugar. It reminded me of the scent of Drink Me, without the fruit. The drydown for me is not reminescent of bread at all, or even foody for that matter. It's a soft feminine scent. I guess this would be the tea. It smells clean and would be great for everyday use. The scent is staying close to the skin. (Take note though, that I am someone who applies BPAL very lightly so a slatherer might find it to have a stronger throw.)

The balsam is strong when wet on the skin. It's like a tree has just recently been cut down. Once that settles, the leather is dominant over a bit of vanilla. I've had it on for a couple of hours and the leather softened by vanilla scent has remained consistent. For those that are turned off by foody vanilla, there is no need to worry about this one.

This remains to be honeyed rose with wheat from beginning to end for me. The wheat balances the honey and keeps it from going overly sweet. The scent stays quite bold for hours. This scent made me realize I can enjoy a rose fragrance. My nose doesn't detect the fruit.

Testing Alien Invasion today from a decant. Wet I'm getting grapefruit. Very bold and tangy. It lasted quite awhile for a citrus scent. Dry down is reminding me of Hawaiian Tropics suntan lotion but more complex. This scent is wonderful for summer. ETA: While wearing this I kept thinking of one of the Harajuku scents. I have never given the brand a full skin test. I just had some little peel back samples on paper. Alien Invasion was similar to Harajuku Lovers G in the coconut/musk scent I picked up.
