This is just like Embalming Fluid. I kid you not. The verbena is the only subtle, and I mean subtle, difference between F5 and Embalming Fluid. The life is just about the same too. The only difference I really see is the price.

The chill winds and dark skies of November mark a time of reflection and release, and though the sting of grief is oft-times most painful during this portion of the year, the icy air brings clarity and eases the burden of suffering. These are the blossoms of loss and liberation, soothed by the calm, comforting scent of sandalwood : lilac, calla lily, wisteria, white sandalwood, moonflower, night musk, phlox, and violet. White Moon is instalove for me. In the beginning, it was completely lilac and wisteria. Overpoweringly so, actually. Not that having those two notes dominate bother me. However, the lilac and wisteria didn't stay at the top. The musk deepens the floral mixture and lily and violet come out to say hi. I see light purple and shades of gray like one could see at sunset when I smell White Moon. This perfume is charming and enchanting. Never grandma and never powdery. I would say this a very womanly perfume and not for someone who is worried about offending others with her floralness.

At first, spice cake batter. Then almond cookies. I'm in heaven. Give to me large bottle now and hurt no one gets.

Incense and maple syrup is what I get from Al Azif in the beginning. There is a faint wood note. It's almost lacquer, but not quite. It's almost nutty, like roasted pecans that are covered in sugar. After about thirty minutes, I get this sharp, pungent note that hits me in the back of the nose. Incense is always harsh on me, but it usually calms down within an hour. Al Azif is no different. By the three hour mark, I'm left with this sweet maple, pecan, caramel perfume. It's very edible and almost syrupy. So much for evil elder gods! This is fresh, warm and definitely foodie. Yummy!

Oranges and incense are the strongest notes in the bottle. I'm reminded of citrus potpourri. It's juicy yet comforting. The florals practically explode when Sol Invictus hits my skin. Bright and rather cheerful. Like coming back home after a journey. The amber mellows everything out after an hour. Spicy citrus-floral with a touch of incense is what I get in about two hours. This is a wonderful, strong perfume and I urge fans of spicy orange to check Sol Invictus out!

Alcohol and fruit. Be still my heart. Succulent plum with a touch of tart currant greeted me instantly. Then the wine trickled its way into the mix. Bordello smells like sinful dark purple. Bordello is heady and sophisticated. This is something you'd never find at the mall. I'm infinitely pleased by this mellow, sensual perfume. If you like smelling like deep fruity wine, I highly recommend Bordello.

I am not thrilled with The Raven. The musk note hits me in the back of the nose like the beginnings of Snake Oil. It's not pleasant. I can barely smell the florals. What I really get is the neroli and sandalwood. And while neroli and sandalwood are wonderful, it's not what I wanted from The Raven. The throw is pretty weak too. I think it simmered down after an hour and I have to shove my arm under my nose to even smell this perfume. Maybe I have an old imp and a new imp of The Raven is fantastic. Or maybe, and more likely, The Raven is not for me.

Oh, wow. Just wow. Beth has captured the Garden District. Or she's at least captured my wanderings through. The honeysuckle is intense almost to the point of being sickly sweet. However, it never goes to that point. The jasmine is subtle and takes awhile to reveal itself. The jasmine has to be the note that keeps the honeysuckle from being chokingly strong. There is the citrus from the lemon that adds a certain pop to the floral medley. I never caught the spices at any time though, New Orleans was completely floral on me. However, I am not complaining. Here's another bottle buy for me! Mucho love for New Orleans.

Mmm, this has to be the darkest floral I've ever smelled. It's definitely Egyptian and definitely not something to give to the kiddies. Black Lotus is mature with a touch of evil. It's more complex than I was expecting too. I wouldn't say this a heavy scent, because it's not, but there is an air of foreboding with it. Or rather like a ritual going terribly wrong. The first hour or so was just lotus with a pale, pale green undernote. The myrrh and sandalwood came out eventually. I think that's when the corruptedness came out of Black Lotus. And that's when I fell in love.

When I first got Smut 2007 on, it smelled like root beer! I was tickled by that. So much for sexy goddess! Smut took me back to root beer candy on Halloween night. The booze came out very quickly with warming. I didn't stink like a wino though! The alcohol notes were very much like expensive bourbon. Warm, nutty, smoky, oaky, with a pepper bite. This is one sexy perfume. The musk isn't overpowering on me. The sugar is just sweet enough. The booze never goes sour. I love Smut and I'm so glad I bought a bottle.

When I put Shango on, I was instantly transported to a summer picnic. I imagined a huge bowl of sweet fruit salad. It was so relaxing and warm. I wanted to simply stay home and sniff my wrists all day. After an hour, the chili pepper seeped out and added this sharp zing to the fruit medley. At the four hour mark, Shango went floral with spice and became rather nondescript. It was still lovely and I still enjoyed wearing it. Now I've been wearing Shango for eight hours and it's still hanging on. I'm really impressed with this perfume. I don't know if it would do well on everyone, but it certainly did well on me.

This was instant love for me. These are two of my favorite things. However, I never thought of this combination! I started craving a big, luscious pumpkin pie when I first anointed myself with this perfume. It was all pumpkin and no pomegranate at all. Oh, but after Pumpkin Patch #3 combined with me, the zesty pomegranate came out. It was juicy and spicy. Simply divine. Pumpkin Patch #3 was long lasting on me. I would say a good eight or nine hours of gorgeous, mouth-watering pumpkin goodness. The throw was enough and never overpowering. A perfect blend for pumpkin lovers.

I'm a little disappointed in Tweedledum. After Tweedledee, I hoped this would be a great companion. However, I don't find Tweedledum to be as interesting or as silly as its brother. There was a sweet, almost candy, note when I first put this on. I was thrilled in thinking it was going to be another fun perfume. The mango and fig were delicate and simply delicious. The patchouli was rather nonexistent or, at least, it didn't read as patchouli. After three hours, Tweedledum disappeared. I think this is a perfume which you have to slather. I'm not giving up on Tweedledum just yet. I think the next time I wear it, I'll have to double up on my application.

The first fifteen minutes The Mock Turtle's Lessons smelled like musky licorice. It was not pleasant. Then, general floral with no single note being distinct. After four hours it disappeared. Talk about a disappointment. In the bottle, I smell the ambrette and iris with a hint of mint. I thought for sure this would be rockin' on me, but it's not. Well, live and learn.

Holy mother mint! Mintmintmint. That's all Cathode was in the beginning. Very green and very fresh and very enjoyable. The mosses tone down the minty bite after half an hour. The perfume becomes less electric and more soothingly natural. However, there is something very scientific about this perfume. It's almost... nerdy. The ambergris in here is delightfully sweet and earthy. Of course, since it has mixed with me, there is a spice note that rounds out the ambergris. It's almost floral and rather delicate. If you want a green, Spring-like perfume, I highly recommend Cathode.

My first thought when I put Red Lantern on was "YOWZA!" I smelled sexy and coconuty. There is a deep, smooth caramel note that makes my mouth water. The coconut faded a little after an hour and the sweet tobacco/opium really came though. I really don't know what delphinium smells like, but it must be the floral note here. The spices and amber are really light and lovely. I'm glad that the spices didn't overwhelm all the other gorgeous notes. The throw is juuuust right too. I don't want my perfume to enter the room before I do. Red Lantern's strong enough though that it lingers in the air around me so I continue to catch whiffs of it. If this is what an opium den smells like, I'd like to find one now.

The first two hours I did not smell cake or currants. I got harsh spices. I barely even smelled the vanilla. That was a big WTF. I was expecting to smell like cake and sweetly sour berries and all things yummy. It took two hours for Eat Me to develop fully on me. Then it was cake time. Oh, glorious vanilla-y cake batter. However, no currants to be sniffed. The throw is fantastic though. This is a perfume that will not die. I, for one, am not complaining. I adore Eat Me. I've noticed a pattern that I completely fangirl over the Mad Tea Party collection. I guess I'm a little mad, but aren't we all.

This is a totally fun perfume! I am not disappointed with this lighthearted, flirty oil. I'm afraid I'm going to fangirl during this review - brace yourselves. For the first two minutes after application, I smelled like fruity bubble gum. I was giggling and generally enjoying this silly scent. This is not for the serious. The kumquat and orange blossom are sweet without being cloying. The white tea is light and grounds Tweedledee. The pepper brings a bright spicy note. I'm so damn happy with Tweedledee! The idea behind it is so simple: ridiculousness! I've felt completely not-serious this whole day and I'm going to credit Tweedledee because of it.

Wow, this is a wonderful perfume! In the bottle and at first application it's cedar and nothing else. This alone is something that makes me happy. I've been wanting a strong cedar note in a perfume. After about, oh, two hours the olive breaks through and mellows the sharpness of the cedar. And about two hours after that the raspberry blooms to add a hint of tartness. Somewhere in this mixture is the vetiver, I'm sure, but it's not distinct. I've been wearing this oil for eight hours now and I can still smell it! I'm so impressed! I think this might turn into a bottle-buy for me.

I will first say that Snake Oil is some powerful s#@t. A little goes a long way and that makes me very, very happy. Unfortunately, if I put too much on, I get a raging headache. Now, at first Snake Oil was soapy and just plain strong spices. I didn't get all the commotion surrounding this perfume. It was kinda 'eh' for me. It lingered in my sinuses and made me want to blow my nose. After developing on me, the most gorgeous vanilla oozed out. Guh! I'm in heaven. No, really, I am. I love true vanilla. Snake Oil is vanilla with a kick. Double yum! I can see this perfume being paired with a single floral note and it enhancing the floral. This would be lovely with sandalwood too. I understand now why folks are crazy over Snake Oil!

This is a gender-neutral perfume leaning towards the manly side. It smells so damn good though that I don't care if I smell like a boy. I feel very confident with The Apothecary on, actually. In the bottle, it's herbs. No green, no tea and no fig. I was a sad, sad kitty when I received this imp because, damnit, I don't want a 'head shop in my stash. But color me all sorts of happy after I put this on. The green sprung up on me all luscious and new. There is a subtle ginger-tea note. The herbs drop to the background, but add this wonderful bite. I picture the color of sage when I smell this and I feel like Spring.

Hunger is mostly black narcissus. There is a citrus tang from the orange blossoms. The vanilla adds a foodie-sweet note. There's an almost alcohol bite in the background that makes my nose scrunch up. This is a totally warm perfume though. It's a bit smoky. I really enjoy wearing it. However, I find Hunger rather nondescript on me. The throw is pretty strong for the first two hours. By the fifth hour mark, I had to press my nose to my skin to even smell this. I'm thinking my skin is just drinking this oil up. I guess my skin is hungry for Hunger! Ha! Yeah, bad joke; I apologize. I know this perfume can work on someone who's not me.

Nephilim is not something I would label as holy despite the frankincense. This, of course, is quite fitting. I can see myself doing very sinful deeds with this perfume on. Since my body just loves turning everything into a dark secret, Nephilim fits right in. There is a definite figgy note. It's a little tangy, but smoothed over by the frankincense. The herb bouquet is so balanced that it becomes a melange of spice. The oakmoss and cypress add this lovely woody note. It reminds me of cedar. I instantly feel comfort because I remember hunkering down under aromatic quilts as a kid that hibernated in my cedar chest. I'm glad to say that the patchouli and vetiver do not overpower everything. I know this took some real skill to get the gentle balance here. I'm so very impressed and I think Nephilim might become a bottle-buy for me.

I picked up an imp of Paris just for the fun of it. I thought it would be funny if was all celebutante-ish. It wasn't, but I wasn't disappointed. I wore it today because it's Valentine's Day and I wanted to smell romantic. In the bottle, it's floral spice. It's hard to name one thing that stands out. Paris is really a melding of three equal notes which turn into something completely different. On me I never smelled the lavender. It was lotus, lotus, spice, lotus. Talk about sensual and smooth. One would think since Paris is strongly lotus that it would be Asian-influenced. Or give that oriental vibe. It doesn't! I started to smell lily swirling around after two hours or so. It was a very nice companion to the lotus. Overall, the spicy lotus-lily makes Paris a light and almost girly, frilly perfume.

In the beginning, White Rabbit was strange. It wasn't quite sweet, but it wasn't musky either. My nose couldn't decide what the hell this was. After warming on my skin and mixing with me, this perfume was soapy and rather nondescript. I wasn't thrilled and this perfume wasn't something I'd make people smell on me. The competing between sweet and musky was won by sweet. Honeyed ginger and vanilla became the most pronounced notes. Maybe it's the milk that threw me off. The black tea is almost nonexistent. The pepper adds a pleasant zing to the ginger-vanilla mixture, but not enough to get my attention. In the end, I know I'm not going to wear White Rabbit again. I wanted to enjoy it on me, but it just wasn't meant to be. I know this perfume would smell fantastic on someone else.
