Starts off with a blast of fudgy brownies, and dries down on me to black coffee with caramel, cocoa, and a hint of cardamom mixed in. Cozy, fairly dry, low throw.

Trying this out for the first time, next to Silky Bat and You May House Their Bodies. Compared to Silky Bat - Similar on the earthy patch. Warm full-bodied vanilla sweetness in RR vs Silky Bat's sugar. Compared to You May House - a bit earthier, vanilla is more prominent. You May House has a "cleaner" woodsy patch and less substantial vanilla (makes me think more vanilla extract vs the substantial chewy vanilla in RR).

Apple, orange, cinnamon mulled cider. Sweet and tart, very much fits the name. Wearing Fearful Pleasure on the other arm - whereas this is all cider, Fearful Pleasure is more like drinking that cider in an orchard, with light woodsmoke drifting nearby.
-
Spiced apple cider with orange peel, surrounded by woodsmoke and leaves. Soft, fades quickly.

Another vote for this being quite similar to Antique Lace. This reads a bit more robust than AL for me, warm and sweet vanilla hay. Best of all, this doesn’t have the plastic undertone that AL has on my skin! Lasts all day as well.

Reminds me of La Lugubre Gondola. Starts out quite dry clove on me, sweetens up a bit with the amber. Soft, resinous, very mildly sweet, wears close to the skin. Easy one to reach for.

As expected, lots of woodsiness; dry and warm, subtle spice, and a lemony aspect. Gentle and comforting.

Plum and patch, bit of tobacco. It seems that this is the type of patch blend I've unknowingly been looking for. A lot of the vanilla patch blends I've tried have ended up too dry and gnarly for me, but this one is a beautiful mix of sweet and earthy to me.

I just dabbed this on to test, and have discovered the meaning of p'oudh. I really hope everyone above is right about this stage being fleeting, because dear lord, this is rough. 15 min: Something floralish covered in poop, but I'm getting hints of sugar in the throw. 30 min: Still sharp floralish poo, but a bit less poo-ey 1 hour: The poop is faint, but still present. Sharp, resiny, some floral 2 hours: No more poop, has smoothed out a little, but still reading as mainly sharp resiny floral to me. Wish I was getting the vanilla sweetness. Need to work up the courage to do a full test and see how it goes. Maybe after a longer rest. This is quite different so far from the other Laces I've tried. Edit: 2nd test, about a month later - In bottle: poop and flowers On skin: poop and flowers 15 min: Still has a fecal quality, but not full-on poop. Kind of dry, floralish, resiny. I haven't gotten any of the sugar I smelled last time. 45 min: Sharp white floral, sticky resin. Thankfully the poo has not lasted this time. But I want the sugar-spun, tobacco, incense parts of this, darnit.

Not at all what I expected. Other beeswax blends I've tried don't go straight to honey, but this one does, to the point that it's reminding me a little of Womb Furie. Honey, wax, a hint of spice.

I put this on next to Native Gold as it instantly seemed so similar - this reads as cola + tobacco for me, with Native Gold being root beer + tobacco. Love.
-
Quick test from mail - In the bottle, this is all delicious root beer. On skin, the tobacco quickly came forward; equal parts tobacco and root beer now. This is even more amazing than I imagined

Comparing 2008 and 2020 Hexennacht ‘08 has always been an odd love affair for me - the scent really is sweat, smoke, and fir. It’s amazing and evocative and I love the heck out of it - but I don’t think I’ve ever worn it outside the house. 2020 impressions, fresh out of the mail - these are freshly showered witches in a forest I’m getting a more soapy scent along with the fir. I don’t love this like I do ‘08, and it certainly doesn’t conjure up the same image, but I could wear it out of the house without a second thought.

Im so confused by this. I’m getting jasmine as well + red musk. Not picking up pumpkin/spice. This bottle has been resting a couple weeks, will keep re-testing.

This is gorgeous. When first applied, the throw reminded me of sweet vanilla black tea. Overall it’s a gently warm, resinous, woodsy vanilla that I want to bathe in.
