This one is such a lovely scent! Unfortunately for me, though, it's really potent. I can't wear it because when I gave it a shot, it left me with a little bit of a headache, and drives my family crazy. Maybe it's the hint of "frost" that isn't going well for me.

In the bottle: On the first (and second and third) sniff, it's wine. Very, very strong red wine. On the third sniff, though, something happened and I got a distinct whiff of acetone. That was a little jarring, but given the scent description, not entirely unexpected. I sniffed it again, and I could smell both--the acetone and the wine. And something else, lurking at the edges of it. Wet on skin: Grape takes over, and I'm not getting any of the acetone (or whatever the unknowable toxins may be). Drydown: The toxins are back, but not in the burn-your-nose way that they smelled in the bottle. Instead, they lend an almost jagged edge to the wine. You know there's something else there, but can't quite pinpoint what. Overall, the scent has settled into something warm and rich and just a little sweet. It's boozy, definitely, but once it's dry, it's not too too boozy. Overall: This was a gamble for me, being both a blind bottle purchase and my first boozy scent. And I'm one who doesn't love wine to begin with. But the "unknowable toxins" were too interesting to resist, and I think the gamble paid off. It's definitely wearable without everyone around asking if you've spilt wine on yourself.

I still can't decide if I like The Witch-Bride. It's very floral for me, though I can pick out the herbal notes. When I first apply it, it's alllllll floral. Very strong, to the point of being almost overwhelming. After a while, it fades down to a lighter, softer scent. Unfortunately for me, I think it takes a little too long to calm down, and it spends most of its time a little too strong a floral on me.

XCVIII Yeah...I'm not better at picking out the notes in this one. So far, I've only smelled it via a drop on my hand, in the bottle, and a quick spray on a strip of clean cotton. At first, I thought that this was floral. But there's something a little sharper in it. Not pine--it's not that strong. Maybe a hint of lemongrass/lemon peel or something like that, though? And behind that, there seems to be something fruity, too. The actual gloss itself is yellow, if that helps anyone pin down what notes might be in it. Overall, I haven't tried it on my hair yet, but I'm not in love with this one like I was the other bottle. I wish I was better at working out notes, because I might consider trading it over in the Swaps section. But I'm afraid I'm describing it all wrong, and someone with a better nose than me will want it and be unhappy when they get it.

Well, I just grabbed another bottle of Chaos Theory, so we'll see if I can identify the notes in the next one better than this one. As an update to my existing bottle, it lasts forever. Two days after I applied it, I could still smell it pretty well.

Boo is gorgeous. Sugary vanilla cream that just wafts gently around my head...As much as I love sweet scents, a lot of them tend to give me headaches. Boo, thankfully, doesn't. It's just the right kind of sweet that isn't cloying or overbearing. Might have to snag another bottle or two.

In the bottle: CHERRY GUMMY CANDY Wet: Still cherry gummy candy. Like whoa. From there, it settles down, and the sticky-sweet cherry takes a backseat and the scent takes on a much warmer smell. For me, it didn't last long; about three hours after initial application, and it was gone without a trace. However, that could have been because I barely put any on. The gummy cherry was so strong, I was nervous about applying more than a tiny bit. Overall, the scent does take me back to my production of The Rocky Horror Show last year, when we had a flood of stage blood falling down on one of our actresses (leaving most of our set, props, and ourselves sticky and delicious).

My bottle is labeled XVII. So initially, I posted my impressions of this HG in the BPTP Teasers thread, but I've since realized that I was full of nonsense. Also, I think I was being more than a little influenced by the general whiff of delicious smellies that were sitting out in front of me. I've settled on this definitely being foody. The only thing I'm fairly sure about is some kind of sugar note--maybe the same thing sharkdiver is getting? But I don't think mine has a vanilla base. Particularly in the bottle and on my hands (I spray it into my palms and run it through my hair that way), there's an almost spicy or incense-y note to it, but it seems to fade significantly once it's been in my hair for a little while. Maybe once the gloss is dispersed through my hair, it's just harder to catch that note; I'm not sure. I've been told it smells like cookies, but I'm not really getting "cookie". It's basically sweet, and pretty light, and I'm going to have to use it sparingly so I don't run out. I'm really awful at picking up on scent notes. It took me three hours of subtly smelling my hair in class to be convinced of the sugar part. I love it, though, whatever is in it, and I wish I could pinpoint the notes better so I could find some similar perfumes.
