Bottle: plummy plum plum plumminess Skin: plum. a pretty, fruity happy plum, not prunelike like I feared. Drying: plum. still plum. where's the good stuff? i can sense it just under the surface....... Dry: dang! dry plum! it's so pretty, but I can't wear this. edited to add: I kept my imp because it was a nice scent. I tried it today as a room scent. It's gorgeous and comforting and fruity without being cloying. If this doens't work on your skin either, try it as a room scent!

Bottle: slight fruit....lots of butter! sweet! I'm excited! Wet on skin: SWEET BUTTER! Dry on skin 30 minutes. I know what this is! BUTTER PECAN ICE CREAM with just a drop of fruit! I'm loving this completely!!!!!!!! this was just the imp; I'm so glad I ordered a full bottle unsniffed and can't wait for it to get here!!!!!

bottle: HONEY with a droplet of tea and pepper Wet on skin: HONEY with droplet of tea. Pepper's gone. Dry on skin: Honey/weak black tea mix. No milk, no pepper. A little to sweet for my tastes as I'm not even a honey fan when it comes to eating. I've got to learn to stay away from honey! I keep trying!!!!!! Dry 1 hour later: a milder honey....easier to deal with but still too sweet for me.

in bottle: fir with something.......sweetish. On skin, wet: pine, fir, kind of bugging me with a background scent that I can't place. On skin, dry: slightly sweeter. 2 hours of pine lingering. It's getting kind of pretty but the pine is On skin, dry, 3 hours later: florals with the barest whisper of fir/pine. reallllllly pretty now and not soapy on me at all! this is something I can wear regularly as long as I get past the pine, because because it's not cleaner-y, it's PINE.

Bottle: yowch. ozone. Wet on Skin: Bfff! aquatic and citrus and overpowering. dry on skin 5 min: Aqua Velva, but in a nice way Dry on skin, 10 min: watery blue green.....this is a smell that I actually associate with water; I've rarely experienced it in fragrances but once it awhile it's there....and here it is! aquatics for real! cooling and very nice; a little on the masculine side for me but this is definitely not a swap. I'm looking forward to wearing it in the summer.

whee! got this as part of a swap! In the bottle: oof. fruit salad, yummy yummy. On the skin: Fruit stripe gum! with the zebra on it! 15 minutes later: aaah. Individual fruits poking out, but the sugared kind. I'm getting very mild almost minty/bubblegummy note. Then again, 'bubblegum' flavor is some sort of mint and cassis, so maybe that's what I'm getting. This fragrance smells like walking into one of those fun shops with lots of novelties and candy. Really cheerful, I like this! Not an every day for me, but definitely doable for when I'm in the right mood.

so bizarre how a scent could be so different on anyone. This is my first BPAL 'Love'. This scent to me is natural, dark colors: amber, green, dark gray......it's not floral on me, it's slightly masculine but a bit too sweet to really say that on me (I'm a woman). A little astringency at first quickly faded, and now it's warm, clean, incensey and smells almost like it's melted with my skin....opopponax (sp?) always works with me so this is definitely a winner. beautiful!

First official review! I am not very good at picking out notes, but here are my impressions: (note: this is the third time I'm trying Hymn, each time at a different hormonal stage....this is the first time I've liked it as the other times the initial floral never went away) Bottle: whew! heavy duty floral madness; I can smell lilies in there. I don't really like lilies. Wet on skin: SOAP. realllllly soapy but the lilies have faded a bit. This smells like a forgotten dish of nice guest soap in a rarely-used bathroom. Dry on skin: aaaaah. soap is going away now and being replaced by frankincense. It's still a little soapy and it's not very me, but it's soothing and pleasant. The frankincense has added a little bit of oomph to the fragrance so that it's not just a flat floral. The person who called this a 'cold' fragrance is so right on. It really does remind me of those hymn books in old, incense-ridden catholic churches.
