Any recommendations for a BPAL oil similar to Cushing Manor atmosphere spray? I love it! -
Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

I have never tried the Leger perfume but I wonder if Fairy Bites would be close? -
I got berries from Mirrors of Spring Pleasures on Kites from this year's Lupers. I think there were batch variations where the berries were stronger than others. From the GC, check out Lady McBeth,I get more berries than wine. My favorite berry scents are limited but aren't too hard to find: Crawdad Dream and April Fool. Very hard to find is the discontinued Jester.

Mythological Scene, with a Warrior Addressing a Lady Outside a Classical Mansion, Two Maidens Riding Unicorns Behind
sprout replied to Little Bird's topic in Limited Editions
I can't pick out the individual notes, this melds together very well. The leather is polished but the support notes keep it from becoming harsh or Uber masculine. The drydown is like lying on a bed of warm leaves in the forest, on a leather jacket with errant sunbeams piercing the canopy. The citrus is well behaved and gives that late afternoon warmth when the rays of the last sun are long and suffuse the forest with a warm Golden glow. It is indeed buttery but not foodie, woody, leathery, warm and slightly sweet with a glowing nutty and musky finish. This never became powdery but it has a soft Golden glow like many Amber blends do. I'd swear there was oudh here but perhaps that is the ambrette and leather together giving a incense without the smoke or fire feel. If you were hoping for vanilla, I can't pick it out but as I said, this is fairly seamless. It lasted longer than most. Can you tell I'm already plotting an additional bottle? -
Coyote is a great amber scent which is what I think makes the Lion so lovely. Lion is amber with a hint of Cinnamon. Coyote is amber with sweetgrass and a hint of soft, brown suede. Is recommend Bastet as well. LEO is still available, I'd recommend you snag it quickly and thank me later. If you can find it, Sportive Sun is a wonderful, very leonine amber. Jacob's Ladder is beautiful, I am betting you love it and I don't find it masculine, it's quite gender neutral to my nose. Aureus is an imp I'd recommend trying, in the vein of the Lion, sunny amber. I'm getting quite excited thinking about all this amber!

Sweet scents, sugar notes & things that smell like candy
sprout replied to voila's topic in Recommendations
Sugar Skull is mainly brown sugar on me, but I recommend reading reviews to figure out the year/vintage you will prefer. Some vintage are more sugar heavy and others more fruit. Enjoy! ETA, sorry I just read you're looking for a general catalog version. I cannot think of one but Sugar Skull is easy to find on the threads or if you posted an ISO. -
A peculiar point of contention: you either love it or hate it, and however you feel, it's passionate. My source for testing was a decant. I expected this to be too boozy but I had to try it because I love pumpkin. This is pumpkin with slightly yeasty beer. It is what you would expect and doesn't morph. Yeasty notes are similar to the beer notes in Feeding the Dead but no cake or incense, just pumpkin flesh to pair with the beer. No butter or spices. I actually quite like this as it's a true to life pumpkin, raw gourd. The beer or yeasty bit reminds me somewhat of Dana OShee. Straight up pumpkin beer, yeasty, and only a bit sweet with pumpkin meat. A surprise hit.

Beeswax fans, you must try Bunraku Theater! Unless pumpkin or tobacco are death notes for you, it's a lovely beeswax forward scent. Not gonna lie, I ordered two and I hesitated to post this because I want all the bottles for myself but it's too lovely not to mention.

Secrets of the Hamachi is a lovely tangerine atmo. Geisha and Samurai is a hair gloss! with prominent blood orange. I love both of these.

The Lowdown on Incense & Resin - The Best Recommendations
sprout replied to Ms. MSGirl's topic in Recommendations
Throwing up props for Pillar of Flame. It's a lovely incense based fragrance, showcasing labdanum. Plus I love the artwork and this thread needs a necrobump for all the incense loving peeps. ETA, must add the Golden Champa single note to these recs also. -
Forest & Woods Scents (with and without evergreens)
sprout replied to omly's topic in Recommendations
For a rainforest rather than evergreen forest, I'd like to pimp Enraged Orangutan Musk (five, dark, aggressive musks, ambergris bouquet, Malaysian rainforest plant extracts, black amber and orange peel.). It's one of my favorite things. -
Any new scents you guys would recommend for my lilac fix? Driving home today, I saw many lilac bushes in bloom and I started craving their smell. I am hoarding Dragon's Eye but I'd like some more lilac dominant blends.

A plug for Lady Death Savage as a femme fatale scent Also: Mama Ji, Kali, Salome, Lady Lucille Sharp, Bilquis, Hell's Belle, Countess Willie, Lady Macbeth, Witch Queen, Sacred Whore of Babylon, Bastet, Nefertiti

This certainly smells malefic. Dragon's blood makes an unholy alliance with a powdery resin note. This is dry as bone on my skinistry. I can pick out the black musk, daemonorops, and cypress on drydown. My synesthesia is the red sands of Mars blowing through dried cypress branches. I was hoping for more tobacco and wood notes. I'll cellar it and retest, as black musk rarely works for me when fresh. Very true to concept and I am glad that I was able to experience this but the blind bottle maybe was not a good idea.

Layer Saw Scaled Viper with a Milk note... perhaps the milky Yule lad? -
Gourmand - Foody Scents - General Recommendations
sprout replied to Morrighana's topic in Recommendations
Well, I have to pimp Chocolate Stout Cupcake, Strawberry Sufganiyot, Muddy Puddles, The Instructional Manual, Mystical Aphorisms of the Fortune Cookie, Sticky Eyeballs and Floppy Entrails. Also, not sure Mari Lewd, Pumpkin Spice Cookie, Pumpkin Lager, Feeding the Dead, Hard Cider Cake, Huesos de Santos, or Stale Marshmallow Chick have been mentioned. Also, Gingered Chocolate Souffle and La Belfana (violet candies). Less mentioned but delicious Yule Lad Stufur if memory serves is the bread and apricot jam guy? -

The Mirror, from this year's Lupers. In combined with pink pepper and ambergris with a touch of lily, this is perfect. -
Adding the new Luper scents with gray amber I've tried and loved to the thread: The Mirror! The High Ranking Courtesan Embracing Komachi Dark and Weary

The Fairy Thorn is my recommended scent for smelling like a fairy queen. Unless of course you can get your hands on some Queen Mab, but she's hard to get.

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

I never did get to try Nocnitsa, but have you tried Burial? Given the similar notes, I should try it but I'm wanting more woods than dirt. Maybe I can layer Burial and Black Forest... -
The Ninth Cage, which I have not smelled personally, is said in reviews to smell of wood and metal (iron). Torture Queen has metallic notes.

Check out Wings of Azazel, should be easy to find an imp. Violet with resins. For sweet, violet candy, La Belfana or Faith. My absolute favorite violet however is Darkling Thrush. Every year I hope for a resurrection. If you don't mind gardenia, Le Serpent Qui Danse is violet plus vanilla!
