Wet in bottle - flowers, citrus, mints Wet on skin - I can really smell the warmth of the wood here and a minty note comes out first too. Interesting. Dry down. Over the course of an hour this changes a into a floral scent with peony in the foreground, and then settles into a soft complex floral scent with the underpinnings of wood and with a tiny zing of mint and citrus over top. It is dimensional and gorgeous. Edit to add: I'm not sure what note is coming across as mint to me. Hm!

Wet this is what your snowbound winterized mind wishes a tropical vacation would smell like. It is all coconut vanilla nutty tropical goodness. It made me think of the brown tanning oil bottles with the palm trees on them, but in the best possible way. Dried down after a few hours this settles into an exact copy of a toasted marshmallow, but very wearable because it is lower on throw than many super foody scents. I've had this on for 10 and a half hours and it is still going strong.

On me, (after a very tart and tangy first few minutes) the currants and cherries combine for a beautiful tart, but not too sweet, scent over the cream and vanilla that soften rather than sweeten the fruits. In my mind this scent is dome shaped. I got very little water or florals, but that may be what keeps this from going foody on me. still going strong 10 hours in.

I got my bottle of this yesterday and am so pleased. It's lily of the valley, but so light and clean, not heavy at all. Also, no trace of powder or soap, just glass and light. It is a subtle scent without much throw, (a good thing if that's what you're looking for), but it isn't a wimp, it sticks around close to my hair all day.

I have tried several more oils since I last posted here, so I'm back with another top five! Jolly Roger White Rabbit The Death-horse Kubla Khan Light and Swift -
My feeling about Djinn is that it is more fire than smoke. In any case, it doesn't smell like tobacco. If you are willing to risk the four dollars, get the imp and try it out. wear it on the weekend if it is too smokey for class. The scent that makes me think of high school is How Doth The Little Crocodile. It has Chocolate, mint and oakmoss, which smells just like my backpack full of pencils, certs mints, and often a chocolate drop or two.

Lovely mood booster: green lemon with lavender playing hide and seek. Very bright happy and fresh. It will wear off in a couple of hours, but you'll be so perked up, who cares. I will enjoy wearing this on high energy days when I am determined to make headway on a project.

I love this, for me it is the lab's lovely aquatic note with rose and lily of the valley. The florals are dominant in the dry-down faze. For me it is very similar to Sea of Glass, only with more flowers and less citrus. I will definitely keep the decant. I'm not sure if it is a bottle purchase or not.

Wonderful scent memories here for me. I am glad I got a decant. I'm not sure I want this as a personal scent, but I want it as a scent for meditation and prayer.

The tobacco, conifer, and other notes combine on my skin to form a very masculine and dapper smelling cologne. As a straight woman, it makes me want to ask myself out on a date. I recommend this for anyone who needs a dress cologne to go with their hippest suit and tie. Edit to add: This is my final conclusion after the dry-down. I agree with earlier reviewers who report that this starts off very sharp and aftershave-y and morphs a great deal in the first few minutes.

I really like the use of honey in this blend. I think it is what keeps it from being too soapy and powdery on me. I am mostly here to add that this layers well with Druid.

Izile, that spreadsheet is a true thing of beauty. Thank you for sharing with us newbs.

Blueberries and honeysuckle with a very faint undercurrent of mown lawn. It's pretty sharp and first, but I like that this dries down to a non-foodie fruit and sun smell that is not overly sweet.

I don't get the orange scent on my skin (it's there in the imp). When applied this smells exactly like horehound candy to me while it's wet, then drying tobacco and hay, like a very clean tobacco barn in August. Lovely.

Hi! Yay, Yggdrasil is my favorite. Tho I don't try to find additionals based on it; I just buy backups For Egle: Oh, I haven't tried this one, either, this sounds like it could be very good! I see you like some scents with jasmine; my favorite jasmine is Salome. For Ygg: Slobbering Pine, Mag Mell. Pais de la Canela. Death on a Pale Horse. Lyonesse. Ochosi, maybe. For Question Mark: I got a maple-y scent from this, probably from the tobacco. Since you also like some 'clean' scents, maybe Beer From The Marsh-Woman's Brewery, which on me is a mix of clean plus caramel or maple-y. For Sea of Glass: You may like Dirty. For Windward Passage: i haven't tried this! Sounds like a marine scent, there are many really neat & interesting ocean/watery scents. Have you tried Bayou? Thanks, Sqwook! I have tried Mag Mell, and I think it'll be great when the temps really drop in January. It smells so warm to me! The others that you recommended were not even on my radar, so I am really excited to put them on my list for next time! Yay! And yes, Yggdrasil forever. It's perfectly woodsy without any fiddle faddle messing it up. -
Oh my gosh I love this! The blackened vanilla and tobacco are nice and dark without the heaviness of amber or musk, and the whole blend is sweet and spicey, perfect for fall. I have particularly enjoyed wearing this in the last couple of weeks since the weather here has chilled.

I am relatively new to BPAL (and brand new to the forums, obviously!). I would love to hear what you guys have to say for my top 5: Egle Yggdrasil Question Mark Sea of Glass Windward Passage -
I just recently received the Aquatics Imp pack (my virgin BPAL order), and my favorites were Sea of Glass (beautiful waters with some floral notes), Windward Passage (which just smells like ocean air to me), and Egle (which smells like eating cranberries in a fir forest by the sea). Egle inspired my fiance to sniff me and say, "Something smells good... Like the Ocean!" The Sea Foams Milk is very sweet and creamy with an aquatic note. It was a little sweet for me, but I could see it working for others. Cthulhu is much more of a green vegetative scent, but very wet and close. it makes me think of trimming voracious vines and getting tangled in them. R'Lyeh is in its own strange and dark world of shadows.
