Wolf Moon: Beeswax & Pine Needle
Minh Scent replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
This is a heavy beeswax with just a tinge of pine. It is a rich , beautiful beeswax. Folks longing for pine may be disappointed. -
Yes! This is a great Snake! Beautiful SO and and Snow White (no mint). If you love those two scents, here's your hybrid.

BPAL's pomegranate has never worked well for me- too sweet. I do enjoy it if there is enough musk over it, like in Madam Moriety, but it totally ruined a tobacco scent for me, as well as the chypre in the 2017 Weenies September Midnight. (Oh, goodness, I am holding a grudge!😀) Reviews got me, though, and true to the accolades- this is a little stunner! Yes it is on the sweet side..but THAT ink vibe has just stolen my heart! There is also something powdery here and a few times I thought I almost got a sandalwood vibe. Whatever, I feel there is more going on here than just pomegranate and ink. Lowish throw, long lasting.

I barely get lavender on first application, but the plum and sugared opium tar are indeed beautiful. Sadly, it is very light on my skin and disappears quickly. It barely lasted an hour on my wrists and I have to put nose to skin to smell it. (I check another perfume to make sure it was not my nose with the problem.)

Yes, yes, I put this on and smiled big time because it is so...BPAL! I agree with the Banshee Beat/Revenant Rhythm vibes and the honey adds some extra sweetness to that perfect patch-vanilla combo. The amber reminds me of the one in The Sun's Treasure. Unfortunately I am not enjoying the longevity others are reporting, so I may need a rare backup bottle.

Blood-red light cascades through languorous folds of sheer cloth. Hell-bright embers breathe into the gloom as billowing ribbons of thick, dark incense wrap their tendrils of smoke around your body like the curious hands of a lover. Heady red musk, myrrh and honey, drops of cinnamon and crushed cardamom pod, the taste of opium-laced black wine, sweet oudh, and threads of saffron. This starts out sweet and fruity; suspect the fruituness from the wine and honey. Very quickly the red musk comes to the forefront, and the fruitiness is gone. The myrrh adds wisps of resiny incense, although this is not an incense perfume. Rather, it is very close to the description as "tendrils of smoke". I can pick up hints of spice, but if anyone was anxious about the "hell bright embers" being cinnamon, no need, as it, the cardamom and saffron are more grace notes. Perfect! I cannot identify the oude or opium as individual notes. Red musk lovers, rejoice! This is sultry, sensuous and very female. I was hoping for the heavy headiness of Debauchery, but this is much more "behind the veils". Low throw, medium longivity (2 plus hours).

This is my second go with Snootier Bat. First try a few months ago, the black leather was too much for me. It is still a bit ACK on first application, but it now quickly morphs into amazing black musk and incense. It lasts forever and has a sweet edge to it. Gorgeous!

Red musk, blackened patchouli, opium tar, inky oudh, champaca flower, pomegranate pulp, frankincense, and tobacco. This starts with a big wiff of red musk and gorgeous dark patchouli. Opium and frank, a bit of woodiness also evident. There is a hint of sweetness which must be the pomegranate, but it is far from fruity. I can't pick out the tobacco or champaca flower. This is beautiful, although surprisingly does not last as long as the notes would suggest.

I am in an "oh my dear goodness I adore BPAL" mode. I was hesitant to put this on, because Snooty Bat was TOO MUCH LEATHER for me. This is a different leather. It is soft, warm worn...and, wow! The vanilla! It is very prominent and in fact, when first applied, I almost felt I had a mislabeled bottle because I got a very sweet with caramel tinged vanilla, hinging on bakery vanilla. In the dry down it is a souped up vanilla snake oil snuggled into a worn brown leather saddlebag. The spice is light and I cannot distinguish what kind of spice. One of my favorite sneks ever!!

Put on this little imp without checking notes. Loved the woodsy opening and then it was a Snake Oil flanker wrapped in vetiver! Very Black Phoenix "type". Looking` at the notes, I guess it is the mullein responsible for the earthy/woody/green scent. Good back up if (god forbid) we run out of snake oil.

The notes look promising, but the lemongrass is too powerful and takes over the scent on my skin. In late drydown, the rose makes an appearance. Nothing objectionable, just more of an oil burner fragrance. Agree with comments that it smells like a spa.

This is a sexy feminine floral on me. It is much more than just jasmine (although jasmine certainly is never just "just"!!) and agree there may be some magnolia in here as well. There is some leather, but I cannot discern the metal. Very, very pretty!

What a gorgeous perfume! The dominant note on me is wax, supported by vanilla and honey. It gets prettier and prettier the longer I wear it and develops a delightful powderiness. I cannot smell the pink pepper, but my nose actually gets a bit of a buzz from it- the same sensation as when you smell mentholated medicine, but without the actual medicinal smell. One of the favorites of this year's lupers.

It would be hard for more to deny that this is a pretty scent. What is not to love about those notes? Unfortunately, this is way too delicate of a perfume for me. If anyone is looking for an office perfume that can't annoy co-workers, but will make you smile, this is it! (Disclaimer alert- I am so in love with White Chocolate, Sandalwood and Lemon Peel, that I am now hard to please with more gentle sandalwood notes!)

Beautifully blended. The tuberose and black musk are light, so if anyone was cautious about those notes, probably no need. Black truffle? Does that mean the mushroom or chocolate? No matter, I can't pick out either. The ambergris is perfect, also soft. I get an intoxicating powdery smell into drydown. I can't stop sniffing, because it changes and to my nose/skin chemistry, the ambergris is the featured note. Like with the Blue Silk Rose, this actually smells like silk. Of the three flowers I smelled (Peony, Rose and Orchid), this is my favorite.

Hmm. The jury is out on this one. It is not as pretty as Tea Rose Lace, but it is indeed pretty and the sweetness (not foodie) is appreciated. It is more rose than peony on me. The rose strengthens as it goes longer into drydown. It's very girly, pleasant, Nothing to complain about.

Nondescript in the bottle. On the skin it blossoms into a soft floral and berry. (I cannot pick out orchid, violets or rose at this point) The thing is, I get the weirdest sensation of blue silk flowers. Is this the power of suggestion? In further drydown, I get the musk. The opium tar is light. Yes, there is some sweetness. This is more of an experience than a perfume for me. I will test it again, but it may not be violet-y enough for what I was after.

Oh, this is lovely! It starts out with a soft floral (I am guessing the lavender buds) and then the tonka and resins appear. As someone who is not a fan of aquatics, the driftwood adds just the perfect pinch of salt. As it dries down, the scent becomes more beautiful and complex, with the beeswax making a gentle appearance. I cannot pick out the honey or honey dust, but perhaps that is the overall sweetness (but not too sweet!) in late dry down, I am also getting that fir tree note a few have mentioned. This is one of those scents where it is hard to drag the nose away from the wrist, as it is a beautiful and changing composition.

White Chocolate, Mysore Sandalwood, and Lemon Peel
Minh Scent replied to Seajewel's topic in Lupercalia
This is...perfect. White chocolate is very "non-chocolate" compared to the dark and milk chocolate. In "real" life, it has a high percentage of cocoa butter, but none of the cocoa bits we traditionally think of as "chocolate". Thus here it is not so much chocolate, as cacao buttery, adding a luscious creaminess to the already stellar sandalwood. The lemon peel is very light and adds just a touch of..joy. By far the standout in the Lupers for me. (Disclaimer- sandalwood is my most beloved note)- 9 replies

This is a little stunner, with the entrance note an almost floral dead leaves (agree with Poenar who said it smelled like the dead leaves in Dead Leaves, Red Musk and Neroli). I cannot pick out the Snake OIl, but I am getting vanilla and Dorian, as well lavender. It's so gorgeous, I can barely pull my nose away from the keyboard to write this review!

OK, perhaps I have a broken nose. I get red musk and a hint of rose, with zero snake oil. I can't say it is not pretty, just much lighter than expected. It also disappears rather quickly. Edited 9 months later Wow. The rose has stepped forward. This is a very sexy deep red rose. The sexiness comes from the musk. Indeed there is just a "dribble" of snake oil, but the star of the show is the rose. I would not really classify this as a Snake Oil variant, but it lovely and goes perfectly over Snake OIl Body Oil.

Oberon, Titania, and Puck with Fairies Dancing
Minh Scent replied to Seajewel's topic in Limited Editions
This is a pretty creamy floral. I cannot distinguish the osmanthus and peony, but it does have a soft floral vibe. Although much lighter than my usual in-your-face scents, I appreciate the delicacy of this perfume. -
Absolutely gorgeous scent. It is mostly womanly opium on me with a veil of violets. One of the prettiest perfumes of the year for me. I wish I had the other reviewers' luck with longevity, as it fades very quickly on my skin in spite of slathering.

This almost is richer than the original Velvet. The snow element is not so evident to me after initial application, but the sandal and choclate seem creamier, with a vanilla twinge. It is a gorgeous, cozy scent. I like it even more than the original.
