No honey, no cheesecake, not even lavender, just a vague astringent smell. Sad. ):

YEP FIG with a little creamy chocolate ;o; yayyyyyyyy so nice. Fig is a christmas spice store and I looooove it. Already fading, though. ): Please stay, little fig smell )8 ~ </3 Okay there's a little faint yummy warm chocolate smell that's left. I'm okay with this.

When this starts out it is WEIRD AND NOT GOOD. It's like...fake berry mixed with musky urine. But dry it's soft and pretty. A pink, sugary vanilla. Mmmmmm. Like other people have said, soldier through the first phase and stick around for the later one!

Jasmiiiiiine which to me is a little bit of a green citrus grapefruit/tea thing. There's something creamy underneath the green that keeps it smooth and palatable and pleasant. Very nice! Not getting any wood. I am getting a little fabric/silk, oddly. Very clean, very green, very spring, definitely glad to have this!

Vanilla pine! I AM REALLY SAD THAT I LIKE THIS, the cap broke in half for some reason, and if I hated it I could just get rid of it. But now I can't! WHAT A NICE PINE SCENT. )8 SUPER CHRISTMAS. With vanilla smoothing everything right the heck over. why, golden priapus

Wet: Zest Soap! Clean, fresh, bubbly, it belongs on a men's soap with a picture of a forest and a waterfall. There's a little bit of (cinnamony?) spice too in the background, but it was only brief and now I think I imagined it. Not getting cracker at all, but getting hella soap. Mostly waterfall soap. I'm a little sad because I thought this might be some sort of, I don't know. Mint, salt, smoke thing. Drying: It actually gets LESS soapy for me on the dry down. Um. At first. It was blendy, saltier, zingier...but occasionally I get a whiff of soap chips. There IS mint in this. To be fair. Bit more of the salt comes out, too! Dry: Hint of aquatic zing.

Wet: JUICY PEAR. Smells like pink starbursts taste! Only with a sophisticated, stemmy planty flower edge. Real, lush petals (not a chemical pain cloud). This is by far the most eastery and springy thing I've sampled. I feel like I should be in a sunday dress and a broad-brimmed sunhat. MMMM this is just, DOWNRIGHT GOOD. Fun, sexy, SPRING. Drying down: EVEN BETTER, everything's becoming more smoothly blended grass/flower/fruit. Sstill intriguing, soft, sexy and excellent. Dry: ....annnnd it's gone. goodbye, it was a fun and beautiful ride T_T

SANDALWOOD! It's that vague suntan lotion smell that I like. There's a little bit of spicyness behind it, that starts out as only a hint, but gradually mellows out everything. A calmer, dryer suntan lotion and skin smell. Like you've been laying out baking at the pool for a few hours.

Super bizarre. No chocolate, no leather, no wood? Maybe, sometimes, the very faintest sniff of coffee, but mostly this is cologne in a big way. The comment I got on it was "Well it does smell like two old men". Not for me.

Wet: dirty and awful and by god is an accurate bug spray in an outdoors tent smell so there's that. Dry: OK a non-offensive lemony thing. I don't like the extra weird dirtyness the incense adds. I'm going to stick to Dorian for vaguely nice lemon.
-
Wet: So fruity tea! Smells like a little of the sourness of iced tea + sweet pea, with a small melony cucumber green and pretty flower something in the back. Kind of a punchy teenage summer scent, pretty strong and with a lot of kick. I like it, but maybe a bit juvenile for me. Dry: Only a soft zing now, which is nicer! I think the vanilla/sandalwood are starting to come through. MUCH MORE GROWN UP. A subtle bright, intriguingly sour smell!

Wet: Oooooh mmmmmmmmhmmm shouldn't have doubted myself on this one. Honey, wood, amber you are all notes made of magic and goodness. God I could roll around in this all day. Honey, honey, honey tempered by a beautiful wood, like someone spilled a vat of honey over a polished wooden table. Must be the mahogany! Drying: Honeyyyyyyyyy. and something sweet and warm and just nice. JUST A NICE THING. But that first stage was a trip.
-
Wet: Aw fuck, a dark and perfect french vanilla hot chocolate that I can feel on the back of my throat. The tobacco is perfect here. God, it smells like the bottom of a fresh hot coffee cup. I didn't know what the French Tobacco fuss was about? But it's warranted. It's almost a LITTLE woodsy, and a little caramel. Drying down gets more sweet/pleasant but still dark and nnnnnnf. Like coffee creamer that someone's melted in with chocolate shavings. Dry: A faint, smooth, chocolate on my wrist. Maybe a hint of that french vanilla and tobacco. No criticisms from me. Lasts through the day. Smooth all the way to the finish.

Wet: Generic bpal smell and nothing but warm, smokey patchouli. The warmth is nice (and this is a very warm/glowy feeling scent!) Just kind of flat for me. I miss you, Second Morning after Christmas. Drying: Ohhhh, some of the cinnamon/clove/carnation are starting to come out, and it's much better for it! It needed that faint sweet/spicy edge over the smoke! Super dry: Smoke's gone, it almost makes me think amber/black musk's in here??? although I know this to be a lie. Just a nice, rounded, vaguely coca-cola thing going on. Maybe it's trying to make me forgive it for the wet stage. I GUESS I FORGIVE YOU. This gives me a nice feeling throughout. Still, I don't think it's my favorite.

Apparently wet Frogges smell like herbal essence "tea" shampoo! Maybe it's the cucumber? Gets powdery once dry, but I can still get a hint of that zingy shampoo hit. Not much of a vegetable garden, but still a kind of warm, fruity green.
-
Starts out as Minty patch! That smokey earth smell that is actually pretty dense and good, with something light and chilly overlaying (might be the black musk!). Very heavy straight out of the gate. Dries down to a powdery but slightly sweet myrrh. Almost like a raisin, date, or wine. I get the "balsamic". Faint and pleasant. Is this the note I remember from Athens?

This is the BEST SANDALWOOD SCENT. Starts off a little like a beach store? Suntan lotion with a healthy scoop of vanilla. But really good and summery. Dry it's still that really nice sharpness, plus a creamy vanilla. Refreshing and downright pleasant.

Wet, this is everything I could have hoped for. Heavenly pine, smoke, and a drop of mint. A beautifully rugged Christmas scent. I could stretch my legs out in front of the crackling fire. The door is open, it's snowing outside, and there's a real pine wreath on the door. It's a shame winter's almost over, because I could wear this wet the whole season. Unfortunately, this cozy, vivid stage doesn't last. Drying: Something here does turn into a twist of a too-sweet, slightly salty cologne. Which is sad. The smoke's still there, and a hit of the mint. Dry: Much more pleasant, lighter. It smells like a man's polo shirt that I'd be perfectly happy to bury my nose in, with a hint of smoke. Here at the end, it's quite comforting, warm and good. A bit sexy, to be honest, when I'm right up against it. Edit: Slightly further back from my wrist it's, surprisingly, a nice snow with a touch of pine again. Wow.

Wet: CANDY, too much candy, and kind of a chemical smell, way sharp and not my favorite. Dry: Snuggly, snuggly faint skin vanilla. What's not to like! Edit: And! It stays true, and lasts and lasts.

Starting out this is baby wipes )8 I can DETECT the black musk and benzoin trying, but the combination isn't working out. Maybe cedar is doing this. And then once it's dry I get the same thing as Balame, a sweet comforting baby shampoo. Not offensive, just a warm, fresh-from bath skin smell that is actually??? Super beautiful, light, human, and pleasing. It doesn't smell anything like what I'm used to from any of the notes involved. I actually really like this... ||:

Wet it's a fresh slap of leather and ink, fuck, it is so, so good. Whoever said cucumber/melon, there is just this very hint of green and I think that's dead on. But then from it wafts this black, beautiful ink and hidebound leather. In other blends, the leather kills it, but with the Manuscript it comes in rolling waves. I smell it once, it's ink. I smell again, the soft back of a book. This is the best. This is the super best. I'm rolling in it like catnip. Dry it settles into a vanilla-green beautifully blended thing. That almost reminds me of?? Tea?? And then it's green, green, green, green, like ectoplasm melon just dragged itself right up from the pages.

Best masculine scents *from the last five years*?

Lol! I was going to recommend Gacela of the Dark Death (although it's not that recent!), I just tried it last night and it was divine. Sherlock Holmes - A fastidiously clean scent, with a dash of pipe and cigarette tobacco. Faintly beneath, you catch the fragrance of a smear of greasepaint, a stray horsehair, and a whisper of Moroccan leather and rosin. Pottaskefill - Salt licorice, birch tar, black pepper, and leather. Mars Rigonemetis - Dark musk entwined with ivy, black pine, birch tar, cypress, black cedar, and black pepper. Gingerbread Sin - Gingerbread with amber, sandalwood, black patchouli and cinnamon. For smoke (GC, not recent!) I like both: Rumpelstiltzchen - Firewood and ash with an oddly otherworldly blend of patchouli, cardamom, nutmeg, black pepper, tonka, vetiver, and myrrh. Dragon's Hide - Dragon’s blood, leather and a hint of smoke. Check out the whole Mars Collection ! I like Alator and Ultor. Also Gelt, if you haven't tried it. -
In the bottle: Smells like a rubber mask. I think it's the leather. Wet: Weird unpleasant chemical spice thing. A store with linoleum floors and a lot of knick knacks. Drying: A little warm creamy peach, with a little spice. Barely there. Pleasant.

Départ Pour Le Sabbat (Aufbruch Zum Hexensabbat)
unxolve replied to VioletChaos's topic in Halloweenie
Bourbon vanilla, sweet red patchouli, oudh, goat's milk accord, and white honey. Decant: I think I can smell the honey a bit, and general sort of resiny "perfume" smell. Wet: Patchouli with sugar. Sugared Patch. Pretty light. Dry: A nice honey and patch, with that cuddly bourbon vanilla. Like others have mentioned, very soft and no additional bite, and occasionally yeah there's a more dusty "ladylike" smell. I think I keep wanting it to be a bit punchier. The occasional whiffs of honey are nice, though. This Witch has definitely gone, and she left behind only the faintest sprinkle of (not cloying) earthy, tangy, vanilla sweetness behind.- 37 replies

IT DID FOR ME TOO, god honey smells so good. I'll look into it @ Hemlock Honey!! PLOUTOS SOUNDS AMAZING I'll add it to my search list! Mechanism/Scherezade I don't remember being blown away by, but I haven't tried Scholar yet. Next time I'm out I'll see if I can find Sunflowers to sniff. O:
