At first, I'm immediately reminded of El Dia de Reyes - I think it's the cinnamon note from that blend - and then it starts to settle into my skin - and I get a very soft, sweet, and creamy musk with a hint of sweetness from the honey - and just a tiny hint (if my nose is cooperating) of a rain/oudoor blend grounding everything to give the scent it's multi-dimensional feel and imagery. It's just such an innocent blend - but with just that little tinge of playfulness - I love this

Cavaet: I've lost some of my sense of smell, so I had to wait until a really good nose day until I could get a feel for this one - and also had to enlist a helper (hehe) This is so light and pretty - when I was a kid, I used to love to smell brand new little dolls - and this definitely captures that sweet plastic (but not in a bad way) new toy smell. It's a very light mixture of florals (which I can't distinguish) - but, I'm also getting a melony-sweet type note (maybe like honeydew). It seems like there is also a soft white musk to ground everything - so soft and spring-like! If you like soft youthful florals or melon-like scents, you should definitely give this one a try

Sweet scents, sugar notes & things that smell like candy
pinkgyrl replied to voila's topic in Recommendations
Candy Phoenix! One of my very favorites A dusky, yet effervescent mix of pomegranate and black currant candies, with a dusting of sugared pear and white apple. -
My mind went straight to this scent for some reason: Le Pere Fouettard: (this is dead sexy on me - licorice and leather!) whip leather, coal dust, gaufrette and black licorice. Good Luck!
-
I usually don't wear that many citrus scents, but the one exception is Channikah - it was a Christmas limited edition. It's citrusy (almost grapefruit-ish with other citrus notes) and cream - and it lasts for hours on me. Good Luck!
-
I love this one - it's a marshmallow scent that doesn't go plasticky on me (like unfortunately Marshmallow Poof does). It's a warm, sticky, and gooey marshmallow scent. It reminds me of trying to ackwardly roast marshmallows over the stove - and getting marshmallow stuck to my fingers and leftover on my lips. The other notes don't jump out at me (except for the marshmallow and sugar) - but instead ground the scent for me - making it more "gourmand." A summer must have! Naughty rating: I wouldn't kick it out of bed in the morning and might even invite it to stay for breakfast

Sigh. I love this so far; I knew I would, because it has cognac in it and other notes that I like and it's expensive When I first applied it, berries and cream - similar to raspberries and cream and so pretty and fun! After a couple of minutes, Miller's darker side rears its smutty head - the earthiness of the fig begins to ground the scent and then the leather starts whipping all of the "frou-frou" notes into submission - the cognac just adds a rich overlay to the entire scent. I've tried Formula 54 on *one* time, and this is not a dupe of that scent - but if you're looking for a substitute because who can really afford to wear Formula 54 all of the time - I would give this blend a shot! Naughty Rating: Multiple Orgasm worthy (hehe)

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?
pinkgyrl replied to Absinthe's topic in Recommendations
Have you already tried looking for Knecht? A lot of people used to sell it - there should be some bottles floating around. Haloa and Hearh give me the same *feel* as Knecht - but, of course - they aren't precisely the same - but worth a try Haloa: Wine grapes, myrrh, frankincense and olive leaf, and the warm scent of offertory cakes. Hearth: Sweet pipe tobacco, cherry wood, the warm, worn leather of an easy chair and a pleasant, subtle waft of fireplace smoke. Actually, I would also give Bilquis a try too (trying to go through my bottles in my head...hehe): Honey, myrrh, lily of the valley, rose otto, fig leaf, almond, ambrette, red apple, and warm musk. I'm having trouble thinking of general catalog equivalents - but maybe some people will have some layering combinations -
Resurrected Version: Mint is not one of my favorite scents to wear - but every once in awhile, I get a craving - I thought this would just be so similar to Toyko Stomp that I wouldn't need it - but, of course - I was wrong! This is gorgeous Creamy vanilla mint - a very cool almost spearmint at times mint - it's just so pretty, bright, and happy - I had to track down a bottle! It doesn't seem like it would be complex - but it smells *complex* and beautifully blended.

Jailbait! It's impossible not to smile when you're wearing a scent that has whiffs of bubblegum
-
This is a very warm scent - I get red musk and then a gingery spice - it's really gorgeous and unique - this isn't something you would want to wear every day but something for special occasions when you feel mysterious or have a secret If you like Gypsy Queen, this is a much softer, subtle version. Love and I don't even like florals
-
I just adore this blend! It's fizzy, sugary, bubbly - it reminds me of almost an icy pomegranate and other sweet sugary fruits seem to be lurking in the background - the people that have likened this one to Lush's Rock Star scent are dead on - this is what I expected Sticky Pillowcase to smell like - and while I still like that blend, I just can't see myself reaching for it as often now that I have this bottle! I must purchase more bottles!
-
I like this one - at first, I get mostly champagne - bubbly and effervescent champagne - almost like a sharp ginger ale before it settles down. Once it settles down, that gorgeous cigar/smoky note, the one from the Dogs Playing Poker series, starts to warm the blend and reaches my nose. This is very unusual and sexy in a naughty way - so glad for the kindness of bpalers to be able to try this blend!
-
Leather and licorice, baby! This is really sexy on me - my roommate smelled it who is used to me shoving my wrists under his nose and is usually unimpressed: "I really like that." ::leans in for another sniff of his own accord:: "I really like that." Hehe - good for wooing the boys! I need a bottle.
-
This is the most unusual scent! At first sniff, I was like "ewww..." and now I'm falling for it! I get leather (I think this is the smoke note), a ripe ripe berry note - almost tart - I was thinking cranberries - but whatever it is - it's a bright, strong red note, and a breezy, wintry note overlaying the blend - the peppermint is not a "you just got smacked by a candy cane" smell but more of a snowy, icy smell with just a teeny hint of candy. This is so unique, and I'm very glad I took a chance and grabbed a bottle.

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here
pinkgyrl replied to ipb's topic in Recommendations
Eat Me is a good mix for people that aren't into overly foody scents but still want a musky sexy scent - I *always* get compliments and attention when I wear it. I also gets tons of compliments on Black Lace (the vanilla makes it toe the foody line) and Smut - you'll have to find some sniffies or testers and see what you think Good Luck! -
I get a creamy, sweet, softer version of a Fruit Moon-type scent with a light citrus note - the fig came out to play for a few minutes and then faded away - I can actually picture the Horn of Amalthea - and this is precisely what I expected this scent to smell like This is one of those scents that is so well-blended that it is very difficult to identify all of the notes - but the combination is magical. It's gorgeous but zero wearlength on me - it disappeared in about thirty minutes unfortunately. Very pretty though and thanks to a generous forumite - I got to try this!

This is really pretty! I ddn't expect to like this one - but, I love Obatala - so, I thought, hey, why not - swipe it on, girl! It reminds me of Storm Moon (I get the same ozone note) mixed with a soft creamy milk note (like Milk Moon 2005) - it's very delicate and sea-like - like a calm day at sea where the waves are mere ripples and the sky is partly cloudy creating soft shadows instead of blaring sunlight - so unusual - worth a try!
-
Cookie Orgasm. Seriously. I'm getting the rum from Mad Sweeney, only not so over-powering, a creaminess with a slight hint of spice (reminds me of Monster Bait Underbed until the orange comes in to play around a little), and a candy orange sweetness that just grounds the scent - this is so much fun and I love love love it!

I have a partial bottle of the original Graveyard Dirt and a bottle of 2008. The original Graveyard Dirt is amazing on me - and is quite a departure from what I normally wear. It's a warm, earthy, gardening soil type smell when I first apply it; however, my skin warms it until about thirty minutes later - it turns into almost a bitter earthy chocolate on me. I have no idea why my skin does this - but not complaining this time! It fades super quickly though The newer version is much sharper and pungent and is still a little strong for me compared to the original - I intend (if budget allows) to put two bottles away for aging.

Incubus has that warm sexy caramel/butterscotch smell that only gets better as it warms up on your skin - my boyfriend is in major love with this one and he adores butterscotch: Spectral white musk and the heart-stopping chill of sheared mint, fanned by caramel-touched body heat, and the diabolical sensuality of black musk, nicotiana, and sage. (note: I, nor he, get any type of mint *at all* from this) Good Luck!

Recommend some scents that remind you of animals

Enraged Bunny Musk really does remind me or evoke the image of the softest, white bunny - that's just the image that pops into my head when I use it -
DCLXXIV (674) This starts off creamy, sweet, and with the tiniest hint of what may be a floral note - the floral note fades super fast - and it turns into a creamy, candy-ish sweet scent with a hint of grapefruit. It reminds me of a softer candy-like version of Channikah - it's really a fun, fizzy summer or spring scent! I can't stop smelling my wrists, because it seems so familiar.

Spice me, baby! The spiciest BPAL blends
pinkgyrl replied to Orodemniades's topic in Recommendations
When I thought spicy and sweet - Opuhi immediately came to mind but may be too subtle for you - it's a really fun twist on a spicy scent - lighter and more playful. Opuhi: Ginger blossom and vanilla orchid (I hate flowers - don't let them scare you on this one! hehe) Just msg me if you want to try it - and I'll send you a vial with a few drops in it - so you can see if you like it. Also (seconding Shub!): Port-Au-Prince: Dark, decadent and incomparably exotic: the rich scent of buttered rum flavored with almond, bay, clove and sassafras. This is not foody per se - but it does go kind of warm exotic spice on me - worth one try at least! Salome: A scent that is both coquettish and sinister. Exotic and lush, brimming with grace and viciousness: almond with star jasmine, oakmoss, red sandalwood and Egyptian musk (very different than description - worth a try) Shub-Niggurath: The lust incense of a corrupted Astarte. A blend of ritual herbs and dark resins, shot through with three gingers and aphrodisiacal spices. (It's like Gingerbread's Poppet's naughty sister...grin) I also agree that you may like Chimera or Plunder. Some LE's: Pickled Imp: Cinnamon, clove, vanilla, and pine sap. I found that the vanilla was not predominant, more warming - but you'll have to see what it does on your skin. Diwali: Lotus root, mogra, mango, tamarind, cardamom, clove, almond milk, cashew, rice flower, coconut, supari, raisins, and incense crafted from aloeswood, red sandalwood, cedar, and spikenard. I adore this one - but it's very very subtle! So, it may not be spicy enough El Amor y La Muerte (retail salon): Clove, red sandalwood, orris, rose, opoponax, benzoin, and patchouli. This is one of the dirtiest, spicy scents that I've ever liked and worn - which is saying a lot for me. -
Damn. I love this one. I knew I would. It's a light, airy, fruity scent - I mainly get strawberry - but there's definitely a fizziness - it's so awesome that she captured a fizzy candy scent! It has a deeper sugar undertone along with the fizziness - a sugary/carmelized base. This is the most fun scent! Never fear, sweet-scent dislikers! The sweetness is held in check as it settles onto my skin by a warm mashmallow note. Rating: 2 bottle worthy, at least, as it is fading faster than I wanted it to and I slathered it on!
