Wet-light florals with wax polish Dry- resins, wax and frankincense, very light incense. This combination is not a winner for me.
-
Soap, pretty white bars of bath soap. Soft and fresh floral, very lovely and feminine and not me at all. I'm hanging on to the imp though for nostalgic sniffing as it reminds me of my childhood home, in a village, when supplies were bought in bulk and the airing cupboard always had a stack of bath soap from Boots the Chemist with names like Spring Flowers or Summer Lilies . It amazes me that the scent of 10 bars of soap can be distilled into the tiniest drop of oil. Try this if you love florals, particularly magnolia.

In the bottle-floral-not what I expected, no smokiness or vetiver. On the skin- Oh what a change, there' some mint and snow there, maybe some cucumber, the florals have disappeared, leaving a perfect minty fresh blend. I like this a lot.
-
Wow this really is tomato plants.with a little sweetness a little as it dries down. I like this a lot, unusual, different and I can't stop sniffing my arm.

I did so well with my first ever chaos I ordered two more. 696- a perfect number for my number obsessed daughter, divisible by three and palindromic, a really good omen so we tried this first. In the bottle very faint spice, possibly some almond and maybe the tiniest milk note. On the skin, this is perfect, beautifully blended, I can't pick out any notes but it is absolutely gorgeous. 686- Wet green vanilla smell (like Love's Philosophy). Unleashed from the bottle, mint/eucalyptus and vanilla. On the skin the eucalyptus is dominant initially, then the mint with a background of vanilla. Where Tokyo Stomp is sweet Murray mint, this is snow covered icy green mint vanilla. I wasn't too sure about this to begin with, as it is a little weird but it's growing on me. I think it will become a favourite too. So that's three out of three keepers, I wish I had ordered more now.

Wet- smells just like 4711 Eau de Cologne, the pettigrain gives that familiar sharp lemony note. Dry- sharp with a musk background. This is not my kind of scent. Try this if you like lemony cologne.

Pretty fruit scent. This smells more like blackcurrant than blackberry to me with vanilla and lots of sweetness. It fades very quickly on me, dry down removes the sweetness and leaves a beautiful dusty fruit with a little spice.

#117 This is a good number ( my daughter has this weird number thing, so good numbers divide by three or even better by nine.I have sent years looking for seats , lockers etc. with the right numbersto keep her happy, so now even I know this number is good!) In the bottle, first sniff they sent me Glowing Vulva, the same sweet creamy vanilla note. Wet. OK it's not GV it's got orange peel and a metallic edge added. On skin. This is so beautiful, it's everything GV was plus this great golden metal note. This could be a steamworks blend, the same vanilla as in Antikythera plus the metal of Robotic scarab. Dry. Creamy vanilla sweetness. This is perfect for me it could have been custom blended. I am so lucky to have it.

Wet this is medicinal and root-beery. As it dries, the vanilla dominates , soft buttery vanilla. I've kept this since it was released but don't reach for it very often to wear. I'm reluctant to let it go as if does small wonderful, I thik it may be a great layering scent, I shall experiment.

Wet- maraschino cherries, very strong Skin- Hello cough mixture, I remember this from childhood- please don't stay like this. Dry- cherry and aniseed, getting better, then the anise amps into liquorice and the cherry disappears. Try this if you love liquorice.

Wet -Nag Champa - spicy, hippy scent Dry- musky and wonderful, something sweet and spicy in the blend too. Nothing like Schwarzer Mond to me- the Nag Champa sets it apart. This is the scent of an incense filled Hippy shop and it's beautiful and worth hunting down.

Bought a bottle unsniffed as it sounded perfect. Smells like soap, beautiful floral Floris soap,or monai oil (is that the Tiare) beautiful but not for me.

My top ten keeps changing, I will attempt to track it here June 2010 Banshee Beat , so perfect, I wish this was available, I would wear it everywhere. Glowing vulva- - close second-love the teak and vanilla mix Liz- a floral I can wear CC female - scented powder, the leather stops it being too girly Okayaki- not sure why, but I can't stop sniffing this Mme Moriarty- evening wear, perfect musk Chrysanthemum moon-sweet, overpowering but beautiful Raven Moon- dark and perfect (can't wait for Panther moon to arrive, hope it's similar) Crumpet Rebellion- best foody Boneshaking Antique Velocipede- squirting cucumber with teak But I've missed so many favourites, not even started on the GCs Coxcomb and Snow White missed out and I have multiples of these, may need to rethink or have a top 50

The Wrestler Onogawa Kisaburo Blowing Smoke at a One-Eyed Monster
mimosa replied to windbourne's topic in Event Exclusive Oils
Wet- sinus clearing, sauna scented. Skin- this is all mentholy balsam to begin with, but there are wood shavings too. This still reminds me of a Finnish sauna with damp wood and herbal oils on the coals. Not sure how often I would wear this as perfume but it is an amazing blend to keep and sniff. -
Wet-lavender and something green Skin-still green lavender plus juniper, smells sharp and green. Very well blended, soon it is hard to pick out specific notes, maybe a little mint in there too. I like this, a sharp bright blend perfect for summer.

Gingery orange/tangerine, I like this as perfume, it's bright and natural smelling, it would make great scented body products. It is a wake up scent but I'm not too sure about the vigour, verve and courage- I wouldn't mind getting some of those.
-
Strong and minty, good for tired headaches and sinus clearing menthol for colds. This should be in every medicine cabinet.
-
Sweet gingery snake oil, I'm not getting the patchouli, just a little chocolate when wet. A lighter version of Saw scaled viper I don't think I'll need a bottle of this but recommend it to snake oil lovers.

Wet- patchouli Dry- soft powdery patchouli with a little carnation sweetness, very little orange blossom in my sample Overall- great Patchouli scent, bottle worthy.

Where is my order? What is Click N Ship? How long does this take?
mimosa replied to Snow White's topic in BPAL FAQs
I'm waiting too CnS 12th April, not received yet. I've had one international package posted on the 12th arrive and one posted after the flights started again, but nothing from the in-between dates. Must be stuck in a warehouse somewhere waiting to be posted on. I'm trying not to be too impatient, but I really want this order. -
Wet-aquatic Dry- aquatic/herbal soapy shower gel, is that a little mint too? Overall - not what I was hoping for, pleasant but too much like generic aftershave for me.
-
Wet- the scent of an open tea box Dry- cinnamon tea, soft dry dusty cinnamon, not strong overpowering artificial cinnamon. This gets sweeter and softer. Overall - I really like this and need to search out more. Many thanks to bheansidhe for the frimp.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?
mimosa replied to Absinthe's topic in Recommendations
Banshee Beat is amazing but it seems to be impossible to find.I don't think there are any similar BPAL scents but I may be wrong, has anyone any ideas of how to make up anything similar by combining other oils? I'll give all ideas a try.
