Bottle: OMG...swoon worthy. Honeyed spices...gorgeous copal...rich tobacco and just a faint hint of rose. In the bottle it is already so swoon worthy I'm glad I ordered it. I'm just sitting here opening and closing the bottle to sniff. I don't want to rush. I can tell this is going to be one to savor. Wet: More mellow. Well worn, ornately carved chest of precious spices. I'm not sure what spices are native to S. America but there seems to be something fiery like chile with something mellow like cumin or anatto. The tobacco rises as fragrant smoke mingling with the scent of the spices. There is a little dewy sweetness from fresh roses but is is very much a back ground note...plus a green honey note that must be the agave. Dry: Warm and close to the skin. As though you have returned home after the Day of the Dead rituals with the scents of the offerings having become one with your skin. This is really amazing. I can't believe I almost didn't order it. Thank goodness for the copal dragging me in. I will be wearing this often. In fact I may take a day or two before testing any other Halloweenies. I want to smell Mictecacihuatl again and again.

Imp: Ginger and an entire hot house full of mums! Wet: The mums are still there in abundance with a heady incense weaving in and out. Usually red musk is a bad note for me particularly in the wet stage but here it is just the slightest edge of daring. Dry: The mums are less prominent. Their blossoms have been trampled underfoot. Leaving a haunting scent of crushed mums, damp earth, and air that smells of perfume and opium smoke. Exotic and delightful! An autumnal beauty full of dark secrets.

Salt air, wet wood planks and the spicy sweetness of rum. A bit of warmed citrus from fruits waiting to be loaded into the cargo hold. I'm looking around for a dashing privateer. I love this on Mr. Isis! The best of the BPAL pirate blends IMO.

Resinous blended with dark fruits and a green geranium leaf...but why do I smell black licorice? Once it drys down and most of that licorice smell goes away I start to get the spicy/sweet dragon's blood. I'm not sure the dry down is worth waiting out the licorice to me though.

Ewww...this is so mildewy green. I can't even sniff again to get a better review. Must wash off asap. It was off putting in the imp and I hesitated to put it on my skin. Should have gone with my instincts on this one.

A masculine version of my all time favorite note, carnation. It doesn't disappoint her either. It holds its own in all its spicy glory against the more astringent lavender. The amber is a string golden back drop while the oakmoss pulls it squarely into the masculine camp for me. Without that oakmoss I would love this on me. With it I'll enjoy it on Mr. Isis.

I'm getting pine and cinnamon plus a campfire smoke that burns my eyes maybe just a bit to realistically. After a while it dries down to more of an ashy burned out fire smell like a campfire the next morning. Artistically amazing and I'm so glad to have experienced it.

The oakmoss and patchouli are surprisingly well behaved on me in this blend. It has a earthy base, with a delicate touch of berries and a glowing top note of myrrh. If anything it is softer than the sorts of things I usually prefer which is unusual given the notes. It reminds me of the outdoors. Nice if you are looking for something woodsy but not overwhelming.

I'm gonna have to agree with those who smell cleaning products. Very natural cleaning products but still...it smells like a glittering clean bathroom. I'm not feeling this one at all.

There is a golden honeyed scent that first rises followed almost immediately by a herbal conglomeration. The resins are present only as a wafting bit of temple incense. I'm just intoxicated with this . The imp belongs to Mr. Isis but I think I need to get one of my own!

Hypnotic, dark and thick. The opium drags down the resinous myrrh. Here and there I get a wet whiff of narcissus. Overall it has a smoky quality that is both enticing and foreboding. It dries down to a soft blanket of darkness. Sober but peaceful.

Ozone is something that I have learned to appreciate since finding BPAL. I love how it combines here with the slightly salty marine note and rain that has a hint of wet green plants in it. A beach side lightning storm in a bottle! This is my 6 year olds favorite BPAL. He feels it give him lightning super powers. Actually it sort of smells like having lightning crackling off your skin should .

... Holy frankincense and hyssop in union with earthy fig, defiled by black patchouli and vetiver, with a chaotic infusion of lavender, cardamom, tamarind, rosemary, oakmoss and cypress. Strongly cedar on me. It really overpowers the other notes. Even in the drydown other woodsy things come out but still...cypress, cedar, oakmoss maybe just the slightest bit of meaty fig...very masculine. Not for me but it is my hubby's #1 favorite BPAL for himself.

A wonderful spring scent for a man. Crisp lavender and lime but with a breath of spring from the lilac. It dries down to more of a slightly floral skin musk. Very dapper. It belongs on a man in a white linen suit.

Imp: Fruity, almost melon type scent, mixed with jonquil and a surprisingly sultry orchid. Wet: It darkens and has a more woody feel with a nice herbal mugwort. Dry: It starts to revert back to the smell it had in the imp. Light and fruity but now it is joined but the lemony motia and still has a herbal note and a touch of musk. The scent of a warm summer night, muggy and close, fruits are beginning to ripen, flowers are a bit overblown and some of the greenery is just starting to wilt.

Bottle: Pomegranate juice! Wet: There is an initial whisper of something white and floral, pomegranate blossoms? It quickly goes to juicy ripe pomegranate that has just been torn open exposing the bitter rind as well as the delectable fruit. Dry: The bitterness softens but it remains tart red pomegranate. I wish I would have bought a full bottle of this. Alas my small store is nearly gone.

Imp: Spice and roses. Wet: Very soft. The rose is one of the most delicate I've tried. I'm actually more put in mind of basins of rose water. The spices are lovely too, varied and not at all sharp. Dry: My skin just ate this one. Serioulsy...10 minutes later and it is gone...nothing but skin. I'll have to try it in my locket and see if it stays.

An agricultural gargoyle. Though he is the Guardian of the Crops and Keeper of the Fields, his visage is still the stuff of nightmares. The scent of a hot wind blowing through desolate, scorched, barren fields. I was expecting a dry sort of scent but this smells wonderfully of sweet, green and corn fields when they are so tall you can't see wher you are. Interestingly as it dries the field becomes drier and more brittle like watching the seasons change.

This is an old imp I haven't touched in forever. I don't remember being to enthused with it when I first got it...I just remember smelling dirt. Now that it aged it is dead on...fresh mushrooms from the farmer's market with a bitof earth still clinging to them. I can't get over how mushroomy it is. I get just the tiniest touch of something sweet too...almost vanilla but not quite. Delightful!

Imp: A herbal lemon with a hint as something darker. Wet: This is really not what I expected. It is very fresh and bright. There is that leather undertone that says manly to me but I could wear this. It really brings to mind sexy cologne and a fast car with leather seats. Dry: It mellows an blends more as it dries but my impression remainsthe same. Same guy just now he is old money...more subtle.

Imp: Holy patchouli! Wet: On the skin that black patchouli melds really well with the cedar and vetiver. Woody and dark...and very manly. Dry: On the drydown the cinnamon comes out. From a distance I smell baking pie! Up close it is more of a sexy man baking a pie though. Off to the hubby...I wonder if I can get him to bake....Mmmmmm

Imp: Strong and manly. Wet: The vetiver is very pronounced. Something smells like musk to me and there is just an intoxicating hint of the opium. Dry: Sweetens a bit on the dry down. I get an almost peppery smell. I like it better on the Mr.

Imp: Tuberose and lotus with a crisp hint of lime. Wet: The lime is an unexpected base to the sweet, heady flowers. Without it the blend would be cloying with it I find the uniqueness enticing. Dry: The tuberose fades (which is good since I'm not a big fan) and the jasmine is more noticeable alng with the juicy fruit sweetness of the lotus. The lime is drier and more recognizable as the peel. Really I'm not sure if I love it or not. I feel compelled to give it a few wears and see.

Imp: Lush orchid with something sweeter like ylang ylang. Wet: The orchid is a bit softer on, less sweet, remarkably mellow. Reminds me of some small yellow orchids at out gardens. Dry: As it dries it gets a bit greener. Still it seems very close to a single note orchid butnow it is white and purple. Makes me want to go sniff the various orchids at the gardens to compare. A little too floral for me. I prefer orchid mixed with something else. I might have to try layring this.

Imp: Pine smacks me in the face. There is something strangely soapy about it too. Wet: Evergreen forest with a soft somewhat powdery note of ambergris. It is a gentle forest scent with a ghost of something sweet. Dry: Very complex. The notes of pine, juniper and cypress are distinct but make a chorus of evergreen. The musk make sit dark instead of bright and there remains a thread of sweetness...the witches house made of candy off in the distance. This seems perfect for the winter holidays. I can imagine burning it in an oil warmer when the nights turn cold and reading fairy tales to my kiddo.
