Vanilla-infused cardamom and sleek black patchouli. On me this is a very dark patchouli lightly misted with the vanilla cardamom. With it being in my hair for a while the vanilla cardamom is a bit more obvious and I'm in love. The patch in this almost reminds me of revenant rhythms but slightly darker, however it isn't sweet...nowhere as sweet as RR but it is def. in the same family. If you love patch you will love this.

Strawberry cream, white musk, and orris root. Ooh it appears I'm first I tried Enveloped in silk yesterday but I've been dealing with a cold so I wasn't sure if my nose was being 100% honest with me. I can say however, that this HG smelled absolutely amazing regardless! It reminds me of strawberry ice cream and bizarrely... I get a slight whiff of dr.pepper lip smackers. This is a good thing though. I wonder if dr. pepper is made with orris root?! Upon waking up this morning I realized that my nose was finally working and my first instinct was to sniff my hair. AHHHH it smells so good. Sexy, creamy strawberry musk. It smells exactly like its description. Simple. I'm concerned that I'm gonna have to get several more bottles of this.

I am so happy to have acquired a bottle of the beautiful Aradia. She totally smells like Antikythera mechanism & Revenant Rhythms love child as others have mentioned. The patch and oak stand out above all...kind of reminds me of BPTP's luper, Loveswing. As above and so below are still my favorites of the haute macabre scents but Aradia will get lots of love (as sparingly as possible hehe)

Ooh I actually really love this one! I'm bad at detecting notes but immediately upon application I smelled dusty, woodsy blood... which is amazingly pleasant! I need to try the rest of the plagues!

Départ Pour Le Sabbat (Aufbruch Zum Hexensabbat)
paperdollsandbpal replied to VioletChaos's topic in Halloweenie
Wet this is super nutty and sweet. Very gourmand but dark and woodsy at the same time. Once it dried down I get a beautiful patch, woodsy vanilla that is very delicate. I LOVE THIS and think it smells great with my RR hairgloss.- 37 replies

I want to dump this into a cup of hot cocoa. This is creamy, delicious marshmallow goodness.
-
This is super light and fluffy. The marshmallow to me is a melted sticky marshmallow. I almost get a slight caramel sweetness but not quite. The vanilla is creamy and delicious. I'm not getting the tea but the cocoa butter is obviously there. This is beautiful and I can't wait until I get my Stekkjarstaur in so I can pair them

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

THANK YOU! I'm gonna have to throw a bottle of goblin into my cart during my next order. I was lucky to have purchased a RR hairgloss from the fb sales page so that's how I discovered about the existence of Banshee beat in the first place. All in all I'm in love with the scent and can't get enough of it. Hopefully goblin with scratch that itch. -

Anyone have a recommendation for something that smells similar to Banshee Beat? Yes? YES? -
In the vial this reminds me of my beloved Dorian mixed with Lavender. When I put it on my wrists the patch and snake oil come out to play, and brings to mind my absolute favorite scent from Lush, KARMA! (patchouli, citrus, lavender etc) I had to track down a bottle of this immediately. Lilith Victoria is beautiful.

Hmm... this is an interesting scent. I get fruit jelly, potporri and BREAD! Also, something a little weird in the background. Might be the mincemeat... it isn't a bad weird though. This isn't really something that I see myself wearing on a day to day basis but it doesn't require washing off.

The first thing that pops out to me with this spray is the myrrh followed by the leaves and smoke. It is a beautiful scent and I've been using it all winter. Its also pretty strong and long lasting. It is my first and only atmo so I can't really compare the longevity to any other scent.

Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)

Does anyone know of a similar bpal scent to lush's Yog Nog? Its a smoky egg nog scent that I LOVE. -
YAY a cinnamon that works on my skin and doesn't burn!!! This is beautiful... a sweet, spicy & soft scent that I can't get enough of. If you are sensitive to cinnamon I def. recommend trying this out!

This is sooooo yummy. I love, love, love this. As soon as it goes on its a delicious yellow cake with halloween spices. I get the custard too. After a while a dried flower scent peeks out from the background and makes this a little less foodie but still absolutely beautiful.

This is really sweet and I amp the booze part sooo much! I'm not really getting any smoke but more of a spice smell. There is something 'purple' that I'm getting though and besides that 'purple' smell I really like this.

This smells like what I imagine the color grey smelling like. Clean, soft and a bit sharp. This is a bit comforting though, reminds me of something that I've smelled before. Maybe clean sheets from my grandmas linen closet? All in all I won't be reaching for this all too often but I like it enough that I don't ever wanna get rid of my decant *Editing because I've been reaching for this one a lot this week and I'm loving it more and more! I think I need a bottle!

Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2015)
paperdollsandbpal replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Carnaval Diabolique
Oh my gosh I love this! Never tried the original but this lives up to all the hype of its predecessor. In the bottle its very red smelling! Fruit! But after I finally put it on my skin I realize how much it reminds me of BLOOD KISS. That delicious red vanilla scent. And I love blood kiss and only have an imp. So this makes me really, really happy! I don't get any patchouli like at all... but that's okay. -
Wet, this is really spicy and pumpkiny and it was hard for me to detect any trace of Dorian, but once dried it becomes an almost perfect mixture of pumpkiny tea goodness and I smell the delicious yummy vanilla/fougere. I can't wait till it starts getting cooler so I can actually wear this out.

On me Haute Macabre is all vanilla, leather and oak. It is blended so nicely and gives me the sense of being in a forest. When it dries I'm mainly left with vanilla and oak and I LOVE IT. I need a full size bottle!

First I just wanna point out that I LOVE the artwork for Mourning lace and I'm glad it got sent to me as a frottle!!! I just dabbed a tiny bit on my arm (since there is only a tiny partial amount that I wanna keep for as long as I can) and *bam* djarums! I used to chain smoke djarums, so I know that yummy clove scent well. The only thing about mourning lace is that there is def. something bitter/metallicy/bloody going on that I'm not sure how I feel about. I'm gonna let it settle in the dark for a while and then see what happens.
-
This perfume is SO ME. I had never smelled any of the laces before, but I was frottled a sniffy of mourning lace and also bought a bottle of pumpkin lace along with this...and I can smell the slight similarity of a linen smell. On me I don't smell the green cognac or the belladonna juice. In all honestly it smells like vanilla, cigar, burnt sugar, old linen and tea which is wonderful! This will be worn a lot this Fall!

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Adam - The scent of the wood of his guitars, the rosin from his violin bow, the musty wool of neglected Oriental carpets, the plastic, metal, and magnetic tape of his reel-to-reel, the dust that permeates everything. Black Lace - A delicate sugar-spun vanilla cream cotton, stained by tobacco and incense, Indian musk, and drops of cognac. Boo - Eerie billows of spun sugar, fluttering white cotton, and sheets of cream. Ghosts in Love - White sandalwood, tobacco flower, lily of the valley, white carnation, and magnolia blossom with tea rose, labdanum, and oudh. Horror Sympathique - Blood musk, golden honey, thick black wine, champagne grapes, tobacco flower, plum blossom, tonka bean, oakmoss, carnation, benzoin, opoponax, and sugar cane. (Not So) Penitent (Mini) Magdalene - Candle wax, smoke, red sandalwood, a dusting of kitchen spices, and a dribble of vanilla ice cream. Shelley, Byron, and Keats - Red roses and pale carnation with a draught of laudanum, smears of opium tar, a hint of absinthe, and mercury ointment. Tombeur - Vanilla-infused sandalwood, blood musk, antique patchouli, vetiver, lavender, bitter almond, amber, and a trickle of Snake Oil. The only one I have of these is a decant of boo and its probably one of my favorites. All your other suggestions sound very much like me and I want them all, especially Tombeur, black lace and Not so penitent mini magdalene! The Little Wooden Doll - Gently carved wood warm with a maternal love that reaches beyond death: rose-infused amber and soft golden sandalwood. Leanan Sidhe - The name translates to “fairy, love of my soul”. A vampiric spirit and a dark muse, the love of the Leanan Sidhe is both a gift and a curse. These eerily beautiful Irish spirits drain the sanity and lifeforce of the men they inspire to artistic greatness. Her kiss infuses a man with depth of vision and feeling, otherworldly passion, and a sudden and ineffable understanding of the unending sadness that plagues mankind. Her perfume is a crush of Irish herbs and flowers, Gaelic mists, and nighttime dew. The Raven - Sleek, dark, and ominous. Violet and neroli mingled with iris, white sandalwood and dark musk. Nyx - Named in honor of the primeval Greek Goddess of Night. A scent reflecting inky black skies and eternal desolation. Night-blooming jasmine, warmed by myrrh, lifted by the promise of rose. Lyonesse - Golden vanilla and gilded musk, stargazer lily, white sandalwood, grey amber, elemi, orris root, ambergris and sea moss. Les Fleurs du Mal - The scents of the blossoms of darkness, condensed into one perfume. Features a rose base, softened with lilac and wisteria. Also the OLLA and Labrinth collections, if you haven't seen them already. All of these sound AMAZING. And yes I've seen the OLLA collection and I want it all! The little wooden doll, Lyonesse and the raven sound like total wins for me <3 -
I was lucky to get a decant of this from 2010/2011 can't remember which, and boy does it smell good on me. In the bottle it smells like a syrupy sweet vanilla. Wet on my skin it smells like a creamy caramel with a hint of clean cotton. 5 hours later I'm getting something very similar to Dorian and I'm very happy about that!
