    Resin Cast Meat Skull

I was lucky enough to try a friends bottle of this, and OMG is it ever good. Totally reminds me of strawberry sufganiyot. Delicious. Really sweet and tart at the same time, with a yummy bakery note. I think I need to track some of this down.

    Shadowless like Silence

I've wanted to try this for ages, almost entirely due to the name, which I think is one of my favourite BPAL names ever. Hoping I like it, as I would love to have a bottle, really again just because of the name! Wet: Hmmm. Very subtle. Hard to describe. It smells...faded? I almost wonder if this decant has not aged well. It's not unpleasant. I just can't pick out notes. It's faintly sweet. Actually, maybe I can pick out leaves, it's just not the bitter dry leaf note that the Lab so often uses. It's softer, and softened further still by the sandalwood and floral notes I can just vaguely pick out. It's very very light. Dry: Light, slightly perfumey/powdery (but in a gorgeous way) and really compelling. It doesn't smell at all like I thought it would. I do get a sense of autumn leaves and cool winds. It's like a hint of a mysterious and beautiful perfume carried on an autumn breeze. Quite lovely. I do think I could justify a bottle, or at least a partial.

    Miss Addie

I am a bit concerned I may be reviewing the wrong scent. This one says "The Gentleman's Directory" on it, which to me, signifies THE OTHER MISS ADDIE, but then it has the notes for this one listed right on it. Sadly there is no date, which would clarify. Hopefully I'll be able to tell if I am putting the scent in the right thread based on how it smells. Wet: Sandalwood and apple blossom are prominent, so I guess this is the right scent? It's all sort of muddled, which makes me wonder if I am picking out notes because I am expecting them to be there....No, I'm not crazy. I do smell the sandalwood, and the apple. Actually, I get the orchid now too, as it's rather heady. This is sort of nice, but as I say, somewhat muddled. Dry: This turns quite floral, and is primarily orchid and apple blossom, with some neroli. I think I would like it more if the sandalwood was more prominent. It's nice, but just not wowing me.

    The Hell-Gate Of Ireland

This is the 2009 version Wet: Dark musk, slightly sour smoke. Smells very much like bonfire+musk and I like it! The clove comes through a bit. This is a really DARK scent. Bordering on masculine. It is softening up as it dries though. Dry: Sweet musk and brimstone. It reminds me of a GC scent I have tried, but I can't remember which one - Djinn maybe? Or Brimstone? Possibly Hastur? One of those, plus smoky clove. It's sweet and much more wearable that you would expect. Quite pleasant. Glad I tried it, but I don't think I need to search out a bottle.

    America's New Gods

Wet: Doritos. And cola. And my Grandpa's work shop. There's something effervescent in there I was not expecting at all. I sort of like it! There's an odd savory note - I'm wondering if that's the "scorched" bit I am smelling, which is translating to Doritos to me. When I got back and look at the notes, I wonder if the "exhaust" isn't the part that I am getting so strongly that reminds me of both Grandpa's work shop, and his lingering scent at our cottage. He was always working on farm vehicles, and the large trucks he used for his landscaping business. This is a really neat scent. There's something strangely comforting about it. It's totally different than anything else I have experienced. I would actually really like it and consider wearing it, if it weren't for that weird Dorito (smoky-sweet corn chips would maybe be more accurate, there's no cheese going on here) type scent I get. Dry: As it dries, the corn chip scent fades, as does that of a work shop, and it smells much more like plastic and wire mechanical components. I could easily see a fried computer that's been smashed open smelling like this. Interesting, but not something I would wear.

    The Urchins

Wet: Metal, but not the same metal note that I have had such trouble with in the past. This one is lighter, softer, and blends well with the florals to create a really haunting, chilled scent. Surprisingly, I like it so far. I am cautious though. I like Kataniya the first time I tried her too, and every time after she was horrid. Dry: Yeah, still not awful! I don't love it or anything - metal notes will always have a commercial cologne vibe to me that I just don't enjoy. But it is nice to know that there are metal notes out there that I don't amp to high heaven. I can smell the honey faintly, and the floral note smells a bit like tuberose (which adds to the high pitched cologney vibe of this). It's a really interesting scent, and one I am glad I tried, though it's not one I want to wear.

    Nibble Nibble Gnaw

Wet: Weeeeiird. I had these curtains in university. They had come from my Aunt's basement. The REEKED. Like this gross mildew smell that I have never smelled in anything else in my life (close to rotten milk, but not quite). The curtains were really cool though, and they were free, so I kept them, and did everything humanly possible to get the smell out (with only marginal success). I sprayed them with everything imaginable. I was really into gourmand scents at that time, so a lot of what they got sprayed with was candy or chocolate scented. On me, this smells the way those curtains did in the end - sickly sweet gourmand scents all mashed together overtop of something gross and mildewy which sort of smells like rotten milk. ICK. Dry: Ugh. This perfume deserves so much better than what my skin has done to it. I'm going to go wash it off now and pretend it never happened.

Hunting for the ultimate _____ blend

This thread http://www.bpal.org/topic/20359-bpal-blends-with-opium/?hl=opium may be helpful? I really love Lydia from Bloodmilk, you could give that a shot next time they do a release? Opium tar and sweet patchouli with labdanum, awadh, and inky black myrrh.

    Dionysia

This is the 2017 version - Wet: VERY fruity! Lots of pomegranate. It's also somewhat boozy, which I was not anticipating. Quite tart- was thinking the benzoin would sweeten this up more, but if this were a fruity cocktail (which is really what it smells like) it would make your mouth pucker. Sour! Dry: SO MUCH POMEGRANATE. I am not a big fan of pomegranate, it tends to be tart/bitter but also somehow dry and dusty on my skin. It's not pleasant on me. None of the other notes come through to round it out or soften it. This one won't be for me!

    Brangwy

Wet: This is dominated by a really sweet, chewy patchouli. With the wood in the scent as well, it almost mimics tobacco on my skin, and so I really like it! Wish I could smell the cardamom or currants, but not so far. It somehow reminds me of a slightly drier version of Antikythera. It's good! Dry: Ugh, I have been having such a hard time with patchouli notes on my skin for the last little while! They now seem, more often than not, to turn to this really dry, dusty scent that I don't enjoy very much. That's what this has done. Not for me I guess.

    Blóðughadda

*is scared of the oudh but tries it anyway* Wet: Warm, woody, spicy - but not fecal, so we're off to a good start! (Oudh smells mostly like poo on me). Actually this is really different, and I very much like it so far. Dry: Fig and amber, mmm! I was not expecting that. I love fig, and it always gets overshadowed in scents, but it wins out here. It's a lovely warm, sticky, sweet fig. Hints of wood and spice. Utterly wearable. It'll need another test, but right now I want a bottle!

    Clémence

2017 version - (based on these notes, I am guessing this will need some age, but I wanted to try it fresh too) Wet: Clove and patchouli in equal measures. I love clove. I like some of the Lab's patchouli and dislike others. I think this is one of the less dry, more sweet "chewy" patchouli notes that I like. So far I am enjoying this. It's very sweet actually, which is what is making it so very enjoyable! I think the carnations are adding sweetness, and extra oomph to the spiciness of this. It's very warming. I thought for a while I didn't want to smell like spice scents anymore, but then I realized it's more the cinnamon type spice scents I don't want to smell like - I still adore clove, ginger, and cardamom. I don't get much (if any) cardamom here. The carnation is amping up more and more. It's lovely combined with patchouli and clove! I never would have thought. Dry: Sadly this dries down to just a faint patchouli scent with a bit of spice - it's pleasant, but not as lovely as it was when wet. I'll try aging to see if that helps, but right now not feeling like I need a bottle.

    Glühwein Hair Gloss

This is a very cozy, sweet mulled wine scent, with a good kick of citrus. Wine is one of those notes that is terrible on my skin, but lovely in my hair. I quite enjoy this! Not sure how much I will reach for it, but glad to have my little decant.
  14. LizziesLuck

    Hatta

Wet: Lots of cinnamon, but it smells like there's cardamom in there too?! Unexpected, but awesome. Warm, worn leather. Earthy, warm, comforting. Really liking it so far. Dry: Dries to a light spicy leather scent. It's nice, but not wowing me.

    Splatter Comedy

I typically can't do Banana, but I love trying anything and everything, so here goes! (I also love Beth's sense of humour!) Wet: Yep, that's some banana candy/pudding/flavoured things alright! With something lurking underneath. Surprisingly, I quite enjoy it! The blood reminds me of the rich, spicy variety that I have smelled in Blood Pop and Mischief HG. Not Dragon's Blood (to me) or Blood Musk. This is such an interesting one. Dry: Ugh. I don't know what that is, but it's not for me. The fake banana is gone (though there is a faint bakery note, maybe like the pie's crust?) as is the blood, and I think just the motor oil/grease smell is left. This is not good on my skin. Glad to have tried it though!

    Meus Amor Aeternus

I'm not sure how I fought off the compulsion to try this when it was released, or ever since, but I finally gave in an purchased a bottle on the sales pages. The label art is my favourite picture of Lilith that I have seen. <3 Wet: The lab's gorgeous blackberry note (both fruit and leaf, I think), and cotton candy come out the strongest. There's something almost nutty underneath? Interesting! This is sweet, innocent and playful. Dry: Oooh, this is so very beautiful! The "raiz de moras" (Blackberry, I think?) note comes out on top, which I would not have expecting (but am so happy about, it's one of my favourite notes) and is backed by honey sweetness, a touch of Dorian, and a tad of Snake Oil. Glorious. I adore it. So happy I finally got it.

    Screeching Revenant Hair Gloss

A very sweet pine note is what I mostly get in this - I have to say, I am quite enjoying it! Most pine notes, on my skin, smell entirely like cat pee. This smells like an actual Christmas tree. It also smells like snow and cold, so the entire effect is like the walk back to the car, hauling your newly felled Christmas tree with you. Quite a pleasant image! I don't wear scents like this a lot, but I will keep and use my little 5ml spray bottle of this this winter. Very nice! A must for tree-scent lovers.

La Roue de Malheur Hair Gloss

Oh man. I expected this to be a red musk scent. It's not. It's an oudh scent. You know what oudh smells like to/on me? Feces. I smell like I have poo in my hair. I made a bad hair gloss decision. Thank goodness I am not going anywhere right now. On the up side, I think this is the only CD HG scent (and I have now tried them all save one) that I will not be keeping! I liked all the rest enough to keep my decant. Not this one. It needs a new home.

    Peach, Peach Blossom, Apricot, Nectarines

I am not the biggest peach fan, but I do love Peach V. I also like Peach XIV, Josie, Adventure with Bandits in a Kago and La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente. I ADORE apricot! I love Aristocratic Couple, Depraved, Haloes, A Thought From Propertius and Pandy.

    Crack of Thunder Hair Gloss

Wow, this is gorgeous, and perfect as a hair scent, as it smells like the best shampoo you have ever smelled in your life. It's so fresh and clean, without being even remotely soapy. The fruit is tart and zingy, rather than cloying or overly sweet. I can't get over how much I love this, I really was not expecting to. I can see this going into the weekly work rotation (so work appropriate!!) and my little 5ml will be used up in no time! I will be getting more for sure. One of my favourites from the CD HGs I have tried so far. I think there are tiny hints of opium? Man it's good, I can't stop smelling my pony tail. I want shampoo and conditioner in this scent! <3

Nerves and Sinew, Wood and Clay Hair Gloss

This smells primarily of elemi to me, which is a bright, cold, glittery sort of smell. There's sweetness in it as well, and as a result it's really reminding me of Gold and Tears perfume (because carrot seed and elemi seem to smell really similar to/on me), which I love .I really like this. I find the smell of elemi very pleasant, clean, and inoffensive. I feel like this is one I could easily wear to work. As it soaks into my hair more, I do get faint hints of clove, which is a favourite note of mine. It warms the scent up quite a bit, without ruining to clean vibe. I like this way more than expected, and would get more once I use my little 5ml decant up. Lovely!

    Stinky

I have started a whole collection of different "clean" scents that I can get away with wearing to my scent-sensitive work place, so I am excited to try this! Wet: (P.S. the label art may be the cutest I have ever seen! Is that Brian's dog? SO. CUTE.) Mmm! Soft, gentle, slightly powdery honey. Love at first sniff! It doesn't smell at all like baby powder to me, though it does smell powdery - but in the way I like, if that makes sense. It smells clean, sweet and creamy. This is so comforting. I can see putting this on like armour in the morning for a day I know will be full of stress and people screaming at me and calling me names. I love this so far. Dry: Pure love. This is clean yes, but also very warm and comforting. One of the best skin scents I own. I think I will want a back-up of this. I can see it becoming a work favourite.

    Nobodies Watching Wrestling

Wet: Argh, what was I thinking??? This is too much STRONG leather for me. I like a nice well-worn leather, but this is like, LEATHER!!! And a bit of artificial strawberry, which is also not really my jam. I think I have already decided I need to age this. Dry: Actually, this softens nicely as it dries, to more of a clean, soft leather and...almost like a strawberry baked goods scent? No more harsh chemicals or artificialness. I do still think some age will help it work better on my skin, and I am not entirely sure if I really like it, but I am going to hang on to it for now.

A Circle Around the Hearth Hair Gloss

This is super yummy and festive! I'm surprised how much the chestnut comes through, I wish there was more of this note in other things! The fig is rich and sweet, The orange brightens things up, and there's lots of sweetness (almost syrupy) from the candied apricot brandy (though I cannot actually pick out any brandy or apricot). This is mostly fruity, nutty, and festive, and it instantly makes me feel warm and happy. I wasn't really expecting to like it, but I do! I also just have to say that BPTP HG is like magic - I have my hair up today, and I did not straighten it first (because I'm on vacation, yay!) and therefore hadn't used any HG yet. I have been thinking how dry the end of my pony tails feels all day, and that I need a hair cut! Nope, I just needed HG. My hair feels amazing now, my pony-tail is soft and shiny and no longer makes "crispy noises" when I run my hand along it. It is amazing how much moisture my hair needs, and HG totally solves that problem for me! <3

    Ogygia

Wet: Clean, fresh - a bit sharp at first. It warms up as it dries and gets somewhat woody, but still somehow in a clean way. Dry: Hmmm, sadly this has dried much less clean, and much more "pencil shaving and kitchen spices" on me. Sad panda.
