Wet: Delicious, omg. One of the yummiest things I have ever smelled. It smells EXACTLY like freshly fried donut, complete with gooey jelly and powdered sugar. It's so so good. YUM. Dry: Same. No morphing, Doesn't go "stale" or plastic the way some gourmand scents do on me. It's glorious. I am veering more and more away from gourmand scents, but this one is a keeper!

Wet: Wow. Glittering is a great descriptor for this. It doesn't smell like anything I am familiar with, which is crazy, because musk and amber are two of my favourite notes. I have to assume this is carrot seed I am smelling? If so, it's utterly stunning. Unlike anything I have smelled before. It's almost citrusy, but not quite. Almost green, but not quite. Fresh, but somehow rich. Hovering on the edge of herbal? Or maybe outdoorsy is a better word? I don't know. I give up, I can't describe this. It's lovely. Dry: There's something clean about this, but it's not what I would typically classify as an aquatic at all. It's lovely. The amber and musk are like no other notes I have smelled before once they are combined with the carrot seed, which is also one of the neatest things I have ever smelled. This is completely unique on me, and I love it. Also totally work appropriate, which is awesome for me. Doesn't smell "perfumey" at all, which is rare for anything with amber in it Low throw, more of a skin scent, which is rare for musk. Unique! Lovely.

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

Penny Dreadful reminds me of a combination between Zombi and Liz, so maybe that would be a good one for you to try? -
I think your problem is you haven't grabbed the right scents yet! Don't give up hope! If you want to smell like dessert, try the following, all available in the General Catalogue. Dwarven Ale Brewed with fermented mushrooms, pumpkin rind, honey, and apple rootstock I kid you not, it smells like slightly earthy spice cake. YUM Cockaigne milk and honey, sweet cakes and wine. Nibble Nibble Gnaw sugared nuts, crushed candies, hot gusts of chocolate, cakes, pastries, sweet breads, and a cascade of candy tiles. (from the new addition to the American Gods collection) skekNa the Slave-Master The essence of vile gluttony: an abundance of spices, sweet cakes, thick creams, and opulent liqueurs mixed with the scent of whip leather and rusted padlocks. Eat Me Three white cakes, vanilla, and red and black currants Halfling Porridge, kukui nuts, and pastry crumbs. It smells like oatmeal cookies, so yummy! Dana O'Shee Offerings of milk, honey and sweet grains Kill-Devil Sugar cane, molasses, oak wood, and honey. Sudha Segara Sweet milk and warm, healing ginger with a touch of golden honey and our blend of Ambrosia Bliss pure milk chocolate You might be surprised and like Elegba coconut, tobacco and sweet, sugared rum. the rum is almost like caramel. Mmmm! The Knave of Hearts Crushed roses and blackcurrant tarts Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener Sassafras, vanilla extract, oak leaf, CO2 butter extract, and onycha. Dries to one of the best vanillas in the GC, with a hint of root beer, so good! Eden fig leaf, fig fruit, honeyed almond milk, toasted coconut and sandalwood. I really hope you find things to love! There are so many to choose from, it's hard for me to believe you wouldn't eventually find some! Good luck!

I was kindly frimped this in a package! Wet: It smells exactly like lemongrass. I wondered if it would be different for me in single note form, but it's not - lemongrass is apparently one of many things (mostly fruit) that I LOVE the smell of, but have no desire to smell like myself. I do, however, have the overwhelming desire to make thai food..... Dry: Yep, lemongrass. Pure, fresh, simple. It's lovely. I would like it in a candle or room scent, or in my soup. I still don't want to wear it though.

Wet: This smells like a popsicle! Or raspberry candy. After you've dropped it in the dirt. Mostly sickly sweet and fake-fruity, but also just a bit earthy and gritty. Smells like disappointment, lol. I kinda like it! Dry: Lovely and fruity and just a hint dirty (in a good way!). I do like it. Doubt I would wear it, as the fruit does lend a little bit plastic on me (not unusual). It's a neat scent though, and really glad I got to try it!

For sure The Bride, if you can find it, I like the honey musk in it even better than Lady Una. Another one that doesn't get as much love as it deserves is Sleeping Nymph and Satyrs Wild woods, Bulgarian rose, tolu balsam, vanilla absolute, ambergris, honey, and vanilla. The ambergris is very musky in it. Creeper Dragon is a sexy honey and musk scent Creeper Dragon Musk: daemonorops, green leather, and red musk with dribbles of honey and white cream. Sanguinem Menstruum is another musk/honey/beeswax fave The copper tang of blood musk, swept by a cloud of dying bees and red poppies of madness. For a much darker honey and musk scent, I like The Cat Sleek, black, dark, and clever: benzoin, honey, cedar, and dark musk

Wet: Dark, rich. Sweet, smoky and spicy. I quite enjoy it so far. It's very smooth. It gives an "aged" feel, even though this decant is brand new from a circle. Really well blended. Liking this a lot more than I expected. There's something rather comforting about it. Dry: Really interesting. It smells like nighttime, outside - in a way. The kind of night that things lurk in. I like it. I think it needs some age before its true beauty comes out. Not sure I need a bottle, but happy to keep the decant and see how it ages!

Wet: Whoa. Interesting. Not like any musk I have ever smelled before. I don't know what I am smelling - it smells oily? And maybe like kitchen spices (of the more savoury variety). Odd! Maybe some wood and cinnamon as well. It's quite homey, really, but also a little "off" which I suppose makes perfect sense! Dry: This is such a strange scent on me. I can't describe it. It's like something has gone off, like the almond is actually rancid almond oil, doused in pepper. It's not good. I will let it rest for a few months and give it another go.

Wet: Sweet smoky whisky, with just the hint of "tang" of some blood/sweat. Not particularly compelling or complex, just dead on high-end whiskey. Smells like a good time. Dry: Leather! I swear there is leather in here, soft and worn and subtle. It's quite nice, but that's what this has dried down to - smooth leather with a hint of smoky whiskey.
-
I'm testing For The Joy of It on the other arm too, as I expected these would be quite similar. Wet: Really smoky, almost sour whiskey. Much less sweet than For The Joy on my other arm. Much less pleasant as well. Dry: So, there's clove in here somewhere. And because I amp clove to high heaven, this is now a clove single note, but with a hint of smoke still. It's actually lovely. It smells like a night of whiskey and clove cigarettes. I think I have other smoky clove scents I like better (at least one) but I do really like this and will have to have a think on whether I need more.

Wet: Sweet and tart at the same time. Fruity. Quite pleasant, but certainly not wowing me. I am not a huge fan of wearing a lot of fruity type scents, for whatever reason. This is powdery fruit candy, the more it dries. Actually, it's quite nostalgic, I am sure there was candy I ate as a child that smelled like this. Sweet Tarts, maybe? Fun! I don't know that I want to wear it, but I am certainly enjoying testing it out. Wet: Nice, soft, fruity. Very pleasant, and likely perfect if you love fruity scents. It's not really my jam though, but glad I got to try it!

I love all of these notes, and I love the name, and I love Lilith scents in general, so it was inevitable that I was going to end up with this! Wet: Beautiful! It's gourmand and floral at the same time. I think the hay/black pepper/nutmeg are combining to give me a floral, perfumey feel that I just love with the chocolate and plum. It's yummy, and it's sophisticated at the same time. The neatest scent is wafting up from my arm. This is way better than I anticipated. Dry: Love love love this! It's beautiful and perfumey from the hay (I love hay on my skin so much!) and fruity from the plum. It has spice and richness from the chocolate. Just lovely! I may eventually need another bottle. <3

Happy 150th Birthday, Canada! Wet: Oh wow, that's gorgeous. Sugary brown musk, smooth balsam. Hints of flowers and herbs. Gorgeous! I worried it would be masculine - it's not. It's perfect. A guy could certainly wear it, but it smells amazing on me also. It's a really warm scent, very comforting. The sweet grassy notes are starting to come out, and I am loving that aspect also. Sometimes grasses go sharp or bitter on me, but the sweet musk and balsam are preventing that. Just gorgeous! Dry: This is amazing. The soft leather comes out once it's dry. It's a warm, glowing, inviting sort of leather. Sweetened still by the musk and balsam, it's a smooth, rich scent. The grasses fade in the background and just give a little atmosphere, letting this be all about that musk and the beautiful leather note. Lovers of the type of leather that's in The Arabian Dance and Unicorn and Ram may want to give this a go. Just lovely. It's enough of a skin scent that I feel I can safely wear it to work, which is a huge plus for me. So glad I randomly through this in my cart! Canadian scents for the win!

I adore the dandelion note in Venus Verticordia, and I am beginning to have an appreciation for stone/asphalt/concrete notes as well, so this was a must try for me! Wet: Beautiful!! Apparently dandelions smell exactly like summer to me, because when I take a sniff I feel happy and keep thinking "summer in a bottle". It's a fresh scent, but with some natural sweetness from the dandelions. I was worried it would be too sharp or bitter, but it's not, it has a beautiful hint of sweetness, making it entirely my jam. The juniper is sooo soft and subtle, which is a pleasant surprise, as I often find it overwhelming. Hints of hot pavement add to the atmosphere of the scent. I am LOVING this so far. Dry: I just love this. It's happiness and summer in a bottle. It smells like sticking your face into a Dandelion and coming away with yellow marks on your nose! So very realistic. It's wonderful, and Beth is a genius, as always.

I love the book SO MUCH and the idea of this scent really appeals to me, much more than the thought of wearing banana perfume actually does, but I am giving it a go! Wet: Banana and dirt! What a neat scent! It makes me smile for some reason. It really does smell exactly like a banana peel, dropped in the dirt and dust of a cemetery. Dry: Sadly the sweet banana fades away to nothing, leaving a really dry, crumbling earth scent that I don't enjoy as much as other first scents. It was really great when wet, but not something I would wear on my skin once fully dry. Neat though! So glad I got to try it.

Vampire Tarot: The Lovers
LizziesLuck replied to PurgatoriX's topic in 15 Painted Cards From A Vampire Tarot
I have never smelled baby's breath in a scent, and that combined with the description that it was the Lab's most "disquieting scent" made it a must try for me! Wet: Yes, quite haunting indeed! The soil note is mixed with what I associate with the Lab's "decay" note, which is a bit spicy and lovely. Vague, slightly dusty florals add to the haunting quality. I like it even more than I expected to. It smells like walking through a cemetery (or at least gives that feeling). Dry: Earthy, spicy, sweet and slightly floral. Still has that haunting quality. Reminds me a little of Penny Dreadful, but I think I like PD better. I do really like this though, and am glad I got to try it finally! -
Wet: Sandalwood and stone dust. Neat! Quite masculine, which I guess makes a lot of sense. Dry: This dries into one of the most fantastic man-smells ever! Actually it's pretty unisex, but I just keep thinking how awesome it would smell on a man. The sweet woods with the Tonka and the dust note are just wonderful. I really love it. I want to see how it ages, but I can actually seeing getting a bottle of this for myself, even though I don't usually wear what I consider masculine smells.

So I tried a really aged tester of this (clearly forgot to review it) and liked it enough to get a partial when I had the opportunity. This has a fizzy quality I don't remember the tester (which was quite aged I think) having at all. I love fizzy! Wet: The honey wine note is gorgeous, especially with the effervescence. It reminds me of Joy Buzzer (honey and champagne) which I love, with some added wine. I get hints of the red currant and dandelion, but this is all about effervescent honey wine right now. Nice! Dry: A very light, surprisingly clean scent. Still slightly fizzy when it dries. Gentle wine and honey in equal measures. Slightly fruity. Really lovely!

This was never on my radar. In fact, scents like this used to sound horrid to me. But then my work went "scent-sensitive" and all I can safely smell like is "clean", so I have had to re-evaluate. (note - this is quite a 'murky' looking oil, and it settles and needs to be gently shaken or rolled) Wet: This scent is lovely. Clean, soft. I do think I get the linden, as there is something greenish or herbal in there. Mostly it just smells like the best clean laundry scent ever. I am surprised that I am beginning to genuinely love this type of scent rather than just thinking "it's better than nothing". Dry: Perfect for what I was looking for. It smells like gorgeous clean laundry, blowing in the breeze. No one can be offended by me smelling like this! I predict I wear this weekly to work. So glad someone recommended this to me!

Wet: All cedar and sandalwood, all day. It's quite nice. Sweet, smooth, dry. Almost glowing. After a moment, some herbs or something else I can't quite put my finger on starts to come through. Dry: This is a lovely, warm, glowing wood scent. Cedar and sandalwood together, you can't tell where one starts and the other ends. It keeps cedar from doing the whole pencil shavings thing. If I ever felt the desire to wear wood scents, this would be a good one. Sadly I just never seem to reach for them. Still, great scent, glad I tried it!

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued
LizziesLuck replied to darklorelei's topic in Recommendations
So I honestly can't remember what this smelled like - but I wrote in my review that it reminded me of Pandy (which is currently available) so maybe it will be similar on you as well? -
(Original) Wet: It kind of smells fermented? Like, when I opened it, it smelled like opening a beer. That has faded now, and it's quite green, a little bitter, also sweet...lily! That's lily I'm smelling. Because I was expecting lilac, I had forgotten there was lily in this. It's now doing that whole gross "wet cardboard" thing lily does on me sometimes. Blarg. Not good. Dry: It gets better. I get some clean musk, tea and the lilac does eventually come through. There's enough of the lily still in there that I don't enjoy the scent nose to skin, but I keep catching the throw, and it's lovely. I do have a lot of florals, and I rarely wear them as it is (only in spring, really) that I likely don't need this. But glad to have tried it, and I think I will want to try the new version when it's released (any day now, maybe even tonight!!)

I was always worried this would smell like orange blossom, which has historically been horrid on me. But lately my skin chemistry is better, so I am giving this a go. Wet: Unnfffg. Sticky, glorious honey. This is sexy. There is something a touch floral, a hint musky about this, but mostly it's aaallllll about the honey. Dry: I don't get the other notes at all, this is single note honey on me. Lovely soft slightly floral honey. This is not the honey of O or Womb Furie, it's different and wonderful. I love it! So happy to have it, I just love honey scents.

So, I have waited a while before testing this. Partially to let it settle, partially because I am so scared it won't work on me after all the hype. I ADORE all things Snake Oil. But red fruits are is iffy on me. So...here we are. Wet: OMG, the tang from the raspberry is GOOD. Is that raspberry? It doesn't quite smell like strawberry. Either way, it's red and gooey. It fades fast though, and the bakery notes come forward, swirling with the Snake Oil (which is quite soft, as far as Snake Oil goes). This is not as sweet as I would have thought. It's very pleasant, and would totally be at home among the Snake Pit scents. The red fruit goo makes a reappearance as it dries. It really does smell like a jelly donut that's been soaked in Snake Oil. I wouldn't want to eat it, but I sure am enjoying wearing it. Dry: YUM. I don't eat gluten anymore, and I find myself craving donuts A LOT (they weren't even really something I ate much, but man do I want them now!). This donut is sooo yummy. It gets more gourmand as it dries. It's more donut than Snake Oil, but the SO is there for sure. I am guessing it'll get stronger as it ages. This is so good, not a hint of plastic, and I am so happy to have it.
