    The Illustrated Woman

Wet: Beautiful. Resinous, sweet, musky. Hints of pine, but not overwhelmingly so. It`s soft, much lighter than I expected. Dry: Not entirely sure how I feel about this. I do like it. It`s a lot more subtle than I expected, maybe a little too subtle Very nice though. The vanilla in it is gorgeous. I just want it to be a bit stronger. I think I will likely test it again if it`s re-released with the next act of the Carnival, and see how I feel about it fresh. Currently I am torn about whether or not I would wear it. ETA: 2017 version - Wet: Ugh, pine (aka cat pee). It's not as bad as other pine scents though...it's a whisper of cat pee rather than a shout, and I think it's fading. Wow, the rest of the notes are gorgeous and sophisticated - smoky and musky. There's a hint of the clean edge that skin musk always has on me. It's very light. The pine has totally disappeared (yay!) and it's actually now a very subtle and sophisticated skin scent. It's so much lighter and cleaner than I remembered! I think I could wear this to work. It's so pretty, but very light and totally inoffensive. Yes, I think this gets a full work day test, and then there may be a bottle in my future. The search for work appropriate but not boring scents is endless for me....

    Enlightenment of the Courtesan Jigokudayu

Wet: Candy-sweet pear, hovering on the boarder of juicy fruit gum territory. Blarg! Hope this calms down. Not what I was expecting. My teeth hurt, it's so sweet! Where's the coconut and incense at? Dry: This gets much less sweet, but still too sweet (and too much pear) for me. Then it fades almost completely, except for a trace of soap. Never did get any coconut, or incense. All pear, all day. Then soap.

And There Was A Great Cry In Egypt

I thought I had reviewed this, but I must not have saved it when I decided that the first imp I tried of this had gone off. It smelled like old cooking oil. Wet: Hmm A bit herbal. Comforting. Familiar. Soothing. Those are the thoughts I have about this, but it's hard to describe. Something about it reminds me of Hellhound. I had to look up the notes to see if I was crazy, but I am not, it's the hyssop, which I previously thought I didn't like. I do like it. I find it soothing. Dry: I like this. I can't ever see wearing it, really, but I enjoy it. It's resinous and a bit herbal, and....different. And I like it. Doesn't last very long, on me, nor have much throw. Really glad I got to try some that hadn't gone off (glad I didn't just think the perfume was supposed to smell like that! )

Autumn Leaves and Haitian Patchouli Hair Gloss

I do like patchouli, and I do like some of the Lab's dead leaf notes (this is the one I like), but I prefer them both with something sweet. I find the leaf note quite bitter, but love it with some honey or something. And Patchouli is just a touch dry for me without some sweetness. So, this scent isn't really for me, though I can appreciate the beauty and authenticity of it. It smells like autumn in a bottle.

    Tombstone Hair Gloss

Oh how I adore this in HG format. My skin amps the wood a bit, but in my hair it's more sassafras and vanilla, and that makes me so happy! <3

    Antikythera Mechanism Hair Gloss

I love this, just as I love the perfume. To me, the notes combine to make so much more than the sum of its parts. This is one of the most unique scents I have ever smelled, and I get why it's so popular. Glad to have the hair gloss now! <3

    Smutty Goblin Hair Gloss

Mmm, I wish Smut smelled like this on me. Musk, and caramelized sugar. SEXAY. I immediately feel the need to find more of this (I only have a tester). Thanks so much to the lovely who sent me this to try - Smut is horrid on me, so I wouldn't have thought to try this, but so glad I did, it's amazing on me.

    Lilith's Hair Gloss

Apparently I totally forgot to review this! I have been using it as a moisturizer almost nightly. I adore it. Lavender and musk dominant on me, it is soothing and pretty. It makes me happy, and I am glad to have it! I would love a perfume of this for bedtime, too, or an Atmo.

I adore coconut, musk, and amber, so I really hope to love this, but tobacco flower sometimes turns to single note on me....and it's all I can smell in the bottle. Worried! Wet: A blast of tobacco flower. But as it warms, the coconut and musk come out, and it's sexy musky-sweet goodness! The tobacco flower is there, but not overtaking everything like I feared. The other notes hold their own. It's a lighter scent. I keep adding a dab more to get the full effect. Dry: The throw is a lot of tobacco flower still, but it's not as sharp as it sometimes is, and I quite enjoy it in this. I also get the musk and coconut, which round it out really nicely. This is a subtly sensual scent. Not really sure how "me" it is, but I'll wear it for a full day before I make any decisions.

    Gluggagægir

I love tobacco. And rum. I passed this up when they first came out, and regretted it. So I snatched it when I had the chance. Wet: OMG with the sandalwood too....swoon!! And it has my favourite Lab leather note (well worn) covered in rum, with a dash of spice, tobacco, sandalwood...basically this scent should be called "a few of Liz's favourite things". I am in love. Dry: I was just wearing Arabian Dance today, and this reminds me of the leather in that, only with rum and sandalwood instead of coffee, along with the tobacco and spices. So, basically, it's gorgeous, and I'm mad I didn't get it a year ago. But I am going to tell myself it was that year of aging that makes this truly magical....
  11. A Dusty Moth is my new favourite tea scent. Tea, musk and ambergris, I never would have thought to combine them, but it's AMAZING. ETA: I suppose I could add my other fave tea scents (there are only a couple) Iulia Theodosius Tattered Lace Blossoming Vulva Mrs. Dunbar and now A Dusty Moth, being the absolute winner!

    Les Fleurs du Mal

Wet: Pretty lilac for a second, then wisteria socks me right in the face. Woo! Not a fan of that at all. I don't think I knew what wisteria smelled like. Now I can tell you, not a fan. Blarg. Dry: Lilac with icky wisteria undertones. There's something sharp and unpleasant about the wisteria on me, I just can't enjoy it, despite how much I adore lilac. The rose never showed up. This one is not for me.

    Death on a Pale Horse

I have wanted to try this forever, because I love the name, but the notes really haven't called to me much. Wet: Wood - No...cardboard? Hazelnuts!? WTF am I smelling?? After looking at the notes, I am smelling lily (cardboard on me), sandalwood, and the vetiver (which is sometimes nutty on me). Something green peeks through. Something herbal, maybe the lavender? Not identifiable as lavender though. This one is perplexing and intriguing. Dry: Quite soft. I get mostly sweet, nutty vetiver. I love this version of vetiver, but with other notes, and stronger. It's pleasant, just not wowing me. Weird that of all the notes, I am left with vetiver - my skin usually eats it within minutes.

    The White Rider

White leather can be pretty horrific on me. But I adore sandalwood, and try everything I can, so here goes! Wet: Mmm. Surprising. Mostly lovely warm (fresh) sandalwood. Smells freshly cut. Lovely. Sweeter than I expected! Dry: This is kind of fantastic. Soft, well-worn leather, hints of pretty sandalwood. I quite like it, and think it would layer well with lots of things. Unisex. Grateful I learned I can wear white leather, just not all white leather.

    Penitence

I've had this same imp for years (like, 10 to be exact). Can't believe I never reviewed it! I don't ever wear it, but for some reason I keep it... There's a lot of Frankincense in this (my skin amps it) and it's so beautifully aged that it's sweet, golden, and almost syrupy. Then the Myrrh comes in, and it's equally sweet. It overpowers the Frank (which I am happy about, I like Myrrh better) and is simply gorgeous. Part of me wants to track down an aged bottle and wear it occasionally. Or use it as room scent. I'll have to test a fresh imp next time I have the opportunity, to compare. ETA: I now have an imp from 2015 to compare! It's quite similar to my super aged imp. Golden, warm, sweet. This is a tad bit woodier, I think. And the Myrrh dominates the Frank a bit less. I do quite love it, and will likely keep this imp too, because I am weird like that. Even though I have never worn it, and may never wear it.

    Rose of Sharon

Wet: Resinous, heady, a touch effervescent at first, and then a touch sour. Interesting. There's something in it that smells sort of like Myrrh. I'll tell ya, this does not smell like a single note to me, at all. Very complex. Not very floral. This goes through several stages on my skin, most of which I don't really care for. There's a weird sour effervescence that I don't like. Then is starts to get more...well not floral, or green really, just..."planty". Dry: Slightly resinous plants. That's as close as I can get to describing this. I don't dislike the dry stage at all, it's quite pleasant, but it took a while to get here. It still does not smell like a single note to me. It's interesting, but not something I can see myself wearing.

    Goblin Sack

This smells really oily, and I immediately wonder if my little tester has gone off. I get no leather or vanilla. Hints of patch and hazelnut oil. It's quite unpleasant. But really unsure whether it's supposed to smell like this, or if it's a skin chem fail. Either way, not a fan at all. I guess I'm saved from having to buy a bottle!

Looking for scents that smell like chai

If you're willing to look at Post stuff, Gourd of Deprivation Atmo/HG smell like Pumpkin Chai to me. Others have said the same, it has those Chai spices (with pumpkin)

    Isaac, The Living Skeleton (2016)

Seriously? Why have so few reviewed this! It's fantastic. I was worried it might be too masculine for me, but I actually don't think it is. Tobacco centric, which is what I was hoping for. Quite sweet, a little chewy. Really good tobacco. I love the bourbon note too, wasn't sure I would, but it's gorgeous. I don't get too much cologne, which I am grateful for. Just sexy, sexy tobacco and sweet bourbon. I actually can't wait to try layering this with something sweet and vanilla, I think that'll be amazing. I may actually need a bottle. Those who like French Tobacco SN, Antikythera Mechanism, St. Clare, Elegba, those sorts of scents, this is likely worth a try!

    Mrs. Dunbar

Wet: Lovely. That vanilla musk is much foodier than I expected though - almost smells like cake! Like tea and cake. I didn't expect it to be gourmand at all, but I find it really is on my skin, so far. The floral is really pretty, and non-descript (I could never identify it as freesia if I didn't know). The cake-like note is settling and getting less gourmand, more musky. Very pretty, so feminine. Dry: I was actually hoping this would not be great on me, but it is totally lovely. Floral, vanilla musk tea. Not gourmand really, once dry. It's beautiful, and I think I will have to search out more.

    Leda

Orris is usually so so bad on me, but I have found 2 scents now that contain it (Lyonesse and A Dusty Moth) that are gorgeous on me, so I am a little hopeful....all these other notes should be great on me. Wet: Musk heavy. Which I'm OK with. Wafts of incense that almost remind me of Nag Champa or something? Pretty. Sensual. Not ruined by orris at all so far. It does lend it a faint powdery quality, but I like that aspect so far. It's a little sharp, I generally find I like my red musk with something to sweeten it up a bit more. Dry: Sadness. The orris does its thing and goes quite sour on me. The red musk (which I generally love, but only with something sweet, it seems) is too sharp in this, on my skin. So though I can smell some real potential here, it's sharp and sour, and not very appealing on me. Too bad! I wanted to love it.

    BPTP & BPAL Layering Combos!

My two favourite "go with everything" glosses are Departing Like Smoke, and Kill-Devil (I use this with sweeter scents). I would actually think Departing Like Smoke would go nicely, and still let Haloes shine, if you happen to have some of that.

    The Chamber of Content

Wet: Mmm. Not a fan of apple, but love the other notes, so had to try this. There is a lot of apple, but I am not hating it. The honey and ambrette make this musky and a bit sexy. Not getting any carnation yet. Oh. This wants to go soapy, boo! Dry: Very light, faint honey. A bit of apple. A pleasant skin scent. Not really my jam, and it doesn't have much throw or lasting power on me. I imagine those who like the apple, as well as the other notes, would adore this.
  24. Wet: Blah, pine or something. Slushy fir trees. Wasn't expecting that. Where are the poppies? I was expecting a frosted field of poppies under shimmering northern lights...but this feels more like a snow covered woods. Woods in which a cat has peed recently. A lot. That's what pine does on my skin, cat pee. Dry: The pine is less like cat pee, but still more than I would like. It also smells like oily cardboard. I think this is not the scent for me. I imagine those who enjoy pine and other snowy woods scents would really like this though!

    Lonely and Disregarded, A Myth

Wet: There was a blast of sandalwood and fig, what I was hoping for, but then it all gets kind of muddled. Still sweet, still woody, but a bit...off. The cinnamon in this strikes me as discordant with the other notes, somehow. Hoping it settles on my skin as it dries. Dry: Non-descript sweetness, a hint of wood. Still pretty muddled. Very pleasant, it just doesn't really stand out to me in any way. I will likely test it again, but I don't think this one is bottle worthy on my skin.
