The moment I opened the bottle I was smacked in the face by pure beauty. Thankfully my skin hasn't ruined it. Ever review a scent and want to tell people it's terrible so you can hoard it all yourself? Kind of having one of those moments. It's amazing. But I swear, you don't want any.... This is a gorgeous musk. Not sure if it's vanilla musk or white musk and vanilla sugar...some combo of musk/vanilla/sugar is happening here, and it's AMAZING. It smells a lot like Morocco v2 to me, without the lavender. Which (though I adore Morocco v2) I have often wished for! And my wish came true. Gorgeous. I want to roll around in it. This just made the top 10ish list. But you don't want any, I promise.

This is beautiful, to my nose. An instant favourite. Creamy sweet beeswax and smoke. I agree the cake note is similar to The Sharing of The Cake HG, and when that mixes with the beeswax there is somewhat of a similar feel, only less sweet, and quite smoky to me. I really love it. I sprayed it on a throw pillow to test, and am now in the process of spraying down my whole house. I will likely snag another bottle when Yules drop. I think this is my favourite Atmo that I have tried thus far (except for Red Lantern, but I use that sparingly).

The Actor Ichumura Meeting a Cat Ghost Atmosphere Spray
LizziesLuck replied to roseus's topic in Atmosphere
(on the green throw pillow so I don't get mixed up....testing so many things!) I thought this was going to go one of two way...all the other notes would dominate the lavender and this would be an all-purpose sort of vanilla-honey-Tonka spray, or lavender would be a bully and it would be a bedtime spray. It's sort of both. I find it mostly honey and lavender dominant (not complaining!). I think this will be a great bedtime spray for me, I LOVE lavender at bedtime, and the honey note is glorious. Happy I got this! -
Dead Leaves, Tobacco, Blackened Caramel, and Cacao Hair Gloss
LizziesLuck replied to mollison's topic in Hair
This is sprayed on my shirt, as my hair already has HG in it. The lab seems to use several different dead leaf note. There is one that I find smells like...man...for lack of a better word (cologne? men's soap? just manly) and at first I thought that's what this is, but then I changed my mind. It's more bitter and less clean than that leaf note. I smelled the caramel and tobacco momentarily, but they quickly faded to be dominated by that dry, slightly bitter leaf note. I can SEE the cocoa in the bottle, but I can't smell it, despite having shaken the shit out of it. Sticking my nose pretty much directly in the bottle, this is gorgeous. I can smell the caramel, tobacco and cocoa. And I love it. I may need to give this a shot on my hair before I decide (or even my skin) because I love that smell in the bottle. Maybe this just doesn't react well with the material of my shirt OR it needs more time to meld all together. Not giving up hope, that smell in the bottle is just so good! ETA: Actually a few mins later, as this has settled more on my sleeve, the other notes do come out more. There's hope I tell ya, hope! -
Mmm! I get a big hit of coffee and cocoa, with musky undertones, and it's AWESOME. This is sprayed on my shirt b/c I already have HG in my hair. This reminds me of the coffee note in Café Mille. In fact, I immediately want to wear the two together. Oh yum, this is just so good. I am so glad I went for the full bottle, a decant would not have been enough. I have a ton of coffee scents and am so happy to finally have a gloss to go with them. I also want this in perfume. And bath oil. It's a sugary coffee musky heaven and I just adore it. I also want whatever this ochre musk is in single note format. Liz is a happy camper right now. A happy Lycanthrope? Whatever. Happy.

Wet: Mmm. Mostly tea and cake on me. Oooh, there's the tobacco. Yum. Getting the faints hints of anise that others have mentioned, but not overpowering. It's so light though! I keep dabbing more on to try to get a proper sniff, but my skin is eating it. It's yummy though. It makes me want tea and cakes. And clove cigarettes. Dry: I like it. It's mostly a sweet tea scent. Hints of tobacco (not as much as I would like, to be honest). Hints of cake and spice. Not getting any of the anise I detected when wet though. It's also not really perceptible as clove either. I think this needs further testing, I do like it, but not sure I LOVE it yet.

Wet: mmm, this is pretty. I have been on the fence about Dorian for ages, some days I love it, some days not so much. But THIS. Dorian with lavender in it is perfect. That extra shot of vanilla (and actually smells like extra white musk too) is to die for. Loving this. I thought it would be a bedtime scent, but instead I think I will wear this a ton in the spring. Dry: Yep, gorgeous! I can get off the fence about Dorian and just wear this instead. On me it's a glorious vanilla white musk with hints of lavender, and I adore it.

Ginger scents & the different types of ginger notes
LizziesLuck replied to Lorna Brigid's topic in Recommendations
Hi! I am also a ginger lover! There's a whole thread on ginger scents here http://www.bpal.org/topic/71612-ginger-scents-the-different-types-of-ginger-notes/?hl=ginger which you might find helpful! My personal faves are: Milk Chocolate, Coconut, Cardamom, Rum and Ginger Truffle Vespertilio Proterus - Warm golden ginger, wild fig, and vanilla cream spiced with saffron, limu amani, nutmeg, coriander, and angelica. Gingered Chocolate Soufflé Sudha Segara - Sweet milk and warm, healing ginger with a touch of golden honey and our blend of Ambrosia and Eau de Ghoul takes the cake! Don't let the weird description fool you, it's amazing.Dessicated skin coated in blackened ginger, cinnamon, and mold-flecked dirt, with cumin, bitter clove, leather, and dried blood. -
This just came today, only settled for a few hours, but it smells so amazing in the bottle I have to try it! Wet: Very unisex and clean smelling. As it warms up, it seems to meld with my skin. I am having a hard time picking out notes. Hoping for rum, patchouli and tobacco in the forefront, but it's really well blended and I can't say that I can pick anything out, really. It's very soft. I added a dab more, and can now pick out patchouli and bay rum. Just sweet enough. I think I quite like it, but it's so faint!! dry: I can smell this more once it's dry. There's something about it that reminds me a wee bit of Hellhound. It has a similar vibe, to me. This comes off more masculine to me though, where I find Hellhound dries down pretty feminine, on me. I like this a lot, but am just not sure how it would wear on me. I think it needs further testing. Bay rum dominant right now, hoping with some aging maybe the patch and tobacco will come through more.

This is the 2016 run, which just arrived in the mail today! In the bottle this is alllll leather. Wet: Mmm. Leather, for sure, but the almond is so creamy and gorgeous! Almond can be terrible on me, but this is AMAZING. Everything is so well blended. It gives me the same feel as So Below, which is so not a bad thing. I don't know how something with no musk listed can be so musky, but it is, and it's dead sexy. I can get the hints of patchouli, nose to skin. I was not expecting this to be so creamy and glorious. Smelling it makes me happy and I want to slather in it immediately. And then buy a back-up bottle. It really does feel similar to So Below, I am curious now to test them side by side, since they have such different notes. Dry: This is freakin amazing. Don't ask me to pick a note out - I seriously can't. They all combine to make a bottle of sex for me. So happy to have this, can't believe I waited so long to snag a bottle. Can't wait to compare it to So Below, they smell so different in the bottles, but I swear so similar on my skin. Not the same, but they both have...something about them that's hard to describe but makes me very happy.

This is much sweeter and has much more lavender than I expected! (Thank you to the thoughtful friend who gave me a tester of this! <3 ) Unfortunately, the juniper turns this really soapy on me, otherwise it would be lovely lavender and musk.

The patchouli and cardamom are what come through strongest, only the cardamom smells like cinnamon instead of cardamom, sadly. This smells like Christmas. Sexy Christmas! Christmas sex? I don't know. I want it as a room scent, and if the Post releases this as an atmo again, I am all over it, but I don't think I want to wear it, I like Sin better. I think the bourbon in this is what turns it into Christmas tart burner. Or something.

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!
LizziesLuck replied to Ella LaRose's topic in Recommendations
Oooh, this is a tough one, if trying to keep recs GC. Hmmm 1. Have you tried Bastet Luxuriant amber, warm Egyptian musk, fierce saffron and soft myrrh, almond, cardamom and golden lotus 2. How about Blood Kiss they always had a similar feel to me - Lush, creamy vanilla and the honey of the sweetest kiss smeared with the vital throb of husky clove, swollen red cherries, but darkened with the vampiric sensuality of vetiver, soporific poppy and blood red wine, and a skin-light pulse of feral musk 3. That's hardest. The Love Swing hair gloss from the Post is worth tracking down (or Revenant Rhythm, of course) but if we're going GC from the Lab, maybe Goblin some find them similar - Black coconut, gnarly patchouli, and sweet benzoin. 4. Haunted! My favourite GC dark musk scent. Soft golden amber darkened with a touch of murky black musk 5. Maybe give Penny Dreadful a try - Soft perfume evocative of noir heroines over rich red grave loam. Happy sniffing! -
Old books... Books, paper, libraries
LizziesLuck replied to supervillainess's topic in Recommendations
Library of John Dee is awesome! The first bookish type scent that I have truly loved. -
Wet: Sweet, slightly resinous rose. Very nice. One of the nicest of the GC roses, I think, thus far. Dry: Roses. Lots and lots of roses. Can't really pick anything else out. It's good! But I already have so much rose in my collection.

A lovely forumite kindly sent me a tester of this. Thank you!! Wet: Mmm, that's nice. Reminds me a bit of The Changeling, right off the bat (likely the vanilla/woods combo). This is a much more "clean" vanilla than that though, verging on soapy. I like it so far though. Dry: Really clean vanilla and hints of woods. I wanted to love this, but I am not a fan of most "clean" type scents. This isn't bad at all, just not me.

Hunting for the ultimate _____ blend
LizziesLuck replied to fatalbellydance's topic in Recommendations
I struggle to find leather scents that work on me. The ones I adore (even with my picky skin chem) are Whip, Byron v13 (not at all hard to find even though it's a proto, there is likely some on Etsy right now) The Arabian Dance, Palmyra, Unicorn and Ram and OUTLAW (Omg, so good!) The Library of John Dee is great as well, but the leather is really subtle. If you wanna get crazy with your search, Fetish.Goth is AMAZING. I also love aged Liz for leather (fresh, it's not great on me) Jammy Rose - still searching for that myself! Have you tried Hope? More sugared that jammy, but getting there. Ambergris - I thought I was in love with it, but now I wonder if I am in love with the combo of ambergris and Frankincense, as I really only LOVE it in The Mirror and A Specific Aberration, and the rest of the time I feel like I can't even pick it out. Petrichor - (you made me google, btw) really I have no idea...Catch Me Dad, maybe? It doesn't list "drying rain", but it has that grass smell that comes sort of close...? Night Air - Nowhere in Particular The scent of a moonlit night on the road, orchards in the distance, and swirling dust. It's not something I wanted to wear, but such a neat atmospheric scent! Vanilla and Amber - I am going to assume you already tried O and that didn't do it for you? Or Hesiod's Phoenix? Maybe you'd get lucky with one of the Chaos Theory Amber or Vanilla series? Have you tried The First of the Three Spirits Shimmering white amber, voluminous vanilla, white musk, zdravetz, and summer flowers. or A Wonderful Light Three radiant ambers with honey, linden blossom, bourbon vanilla, and orange zest. Venus Genetrix (never tried it, no idea how strong the jasmine tea is) Black amber and jasmine tea with 7-year aged vanilla bourbon absolute. Carnation - I am assuming you have already tried GC ones like Alice, Queen Alice, Brisingamen? (If not, you should, lol!) For LE's I think the new Miss Lizzie is an amazing soft carnation scent, but I may be biased. A merry honeyed carnation dotted with dried ruby fruits. But my favourite is still Hod/Hod Res. Wine - I am not a lot of help, wine is a terrible disaster on me. The only one that has been good on my skin is Wanda, which I really really like. Good luck on your quest! Let us know what you find. -
Wet: Hmm, this is much fruitier than I had anticipated! Interesting. Very hard to pin down, not entirely sure what I'm smelling. It's slightly sweet, warm, and glowing though - a bit spicy, and so far I don't hate it. Very light though, not much throw. Dry: A soft, sweet scent with hints of anise. I can't pick out any other notes, specifically. I like it, but I like my scents a bit stronger.
-
(this appears to be quite an aged, carded imp, possibly from the initial release - the oil is very thick) Wet: The hot metal comes through strongest (smells like the same hot metal note as Kataniya The Clockwork Woman, to me. It's not my favourite smell. The red musk comes through a bit at first but then is quickly overtaken by metal. Dry: Still all hot metal. Too bad, I love the lab's antiqued amber note, but I can't smell it or anything else, just metal. Not at all unpleasant, just not something I want to smell like.
-
I am worried about the jasmine in this making it smell like catpee but I am giving it a go anyway! Eeew, actually it's feces (sometimes jasmine smells like urine, sometimes feces to me - either way, not good) This is interesting though - I always assumed it was my skin chem that made jasmine smell terrible, turn out it's actually just a scent that my nose finds repulsive. Blarg. Lesson learned, no more jasmine. Like, ever.

Plastic...creamy plastic. Not very fruity on me, so I think the liqueur is actually the problem. Some creamy musk comes through. And then plastic. I am actually OK with this result, because now I can say I tried it, without feeling the need to track down more. And I can also pass this decant on to someone who will love it.

White amber and pale blossoms with white ginger, green apple, and tonka. I love this. It's even better than I hoped. Mostly green apple, but not that icky fake green apple that you're accustomed to from typical air fresheners. This smells like real, fresh, tart, green apple, with a good zing of ginger. The amber and Tonka ground it nicely and give it some real lasting power, as well as some sweetness. The florals are barely there, and I could not identify them to save my life, but I wouldn't be surprised if apple blossom was in there too, adding to the overall apple feel. This is gorgeous, and I will use it for the rest of the summer and then tuck it away for next spring.

It's likely pretty obvious why I am hoping this will be awesome on me....lol. I love carnation, love honey, but could be screwed over depending on what those "ruby fruits" are. Currant would be great. If it's cherry or strawberry, I may have a problem. Wet: Pretty. Soft carnation (not nearly as strong as in, say, Alice - at least to my nose. The honey is also softer. It's a tad fruity, but I can't place what red fruit, specifically. It's not going plastic though (which lots of fruit frequently do on my skin), instead, I feel like it wants to turn soapy, for some reason. Not terribly, just a faint soapy edge. Hoping it'll settle, and I think it gradually is. It's lighter than I expected, which is nice, as both carnation and honey can amp on me and be IN YOUR FACE!! This isn't though, smells like something I could easily wear to work. Dry: Thankfully the faint soapy hints disappeared, and this dries down to a lovely, soft, sweet carnation scent. I don't find the carnation to actually be that strong in this, compared to some other scents, the honey and fruit do a nice job of softening it. This is beautiful and simple, and I will really love wearing it.

Campfires, bonfires, fireplaces, burning wood and leaves...
LizziesLuck replied to thelaurenator's topic in Recommendations
My new smoky favourite is Baby's First Krampuslauf - which, in my head, is "chocolate bonfires". <3 -
This is glorious on me. The tobacco is that rich, chewy, caramelly tobacco, akin (but not identical, to me) to French Tobacco. The honey is a slightly floral honey, and it's lovely. I have a lot of hair glosses with honey in them, but all of the honey notes seem different, and I love that. This gloss will go well with both honey scents, and tobacco scents. It makes me happy to smell it. Really grateful to have scored a decant of it.
