I have been longing for a dark/black musk HG for some time now. So glad to finally have one! The cedar is surprisingly nice in this (not usually a big fan). The patchouli doesn't take over at all. This is beautifully blended. Dark, sultry. I will happily be wearing it with things like Panther Moon, Raven Moon, The Cat, Haunted, Playful Wooden Mallets, Black Temple Burlesque....(I like dark musk, OK?) I only got a decant because I wasn't sure about the cedar, but I'll be grabbing a full sized bottle before it disappears. (I will also be combining this with The Card Game HG to try to create that dark fruit and dark musk vibe of Luna Negra...really excited to test that out!)

Wooo! Boozy apples! Tart, green, drunk apples. Not getting any of the caramel here. Almost more like an apple martini than anything, on me at least. Glad I finally tried it, but not something I will wear. I kind of want to drink it, though...

Wow, there is a lot of black pepper in this when wet! It's like creamy, sweet black pepper. Kind of confusing to my nose. Once the pepper calms down, the beeswax in this actually makes it quite perfumey - I tend to amp it. It's a really interesting scent, but I can't imagine wearing it. Glad to have gotten to try it though!

Ack, this is so soapy! I think I may need to accept that opium and I are just not going to be friends, it's pretty consistently terrible on me. That's all I get out of this - soapy opium, soapy rose. Soap! Darn skin. 2017 version (hoping for a better result!) Wet: Strong anise, sugar, and surprisingly the lilac comes through! Interesting! This is so much different than the very aged tester I tried of the original. Yes, there is a lot of lilac and sweetness with the booze and anise, and it's quite intriguing! There's something a little bit green about it, and a little bit sharp. There's also something a bit "chewy" about it, which I typically associate with tobacco (but this smells nothing like tobacco, just struggling to describe it). I have never smelled anything remotely similar to this before. Dry: Dries down to absinthe and sugared lilac, which is a really interesting combination! I am not really sure whether I would wear it, but I am really glad I tried the new version, as it is SO DIFFERENT from the old version on my skin - either than or age ay make this turn soapy on me.

Sadly, this is not good on me. The honey is great for a sec, as is the beeswax. Then they combine to make icky skanky 20 year old candle wax that has lost most of its scent and is all yellowed on one side...you know what I am talking about. Not good. I shall leave it to other folks with different skin chemistry.

Hadn't actually intended to try this, but my lovely decantress sent me a tester, so I guess I will!! <3 Mmm! There is a lot of wine in this here cider. The mulling spices are lovely. I want a big hot mug of this, pronto. I want my whole house to smell like it (because I have a huge crock of it in the kitchen). I don't really want to wear it, but man is it making me thirsty. This smells like the best part of the holidays (getting drunk and pretending you like your weird relatives. That could just be me...)

Hmm, not what I was expecting. The DB in this one is more floral and soapy than resinous and spicy. There's almost something effervescent about it. Really interesting! Not something I think I would wear, but glad to have gotten to try it!

Yep, smells like a night of fun and a morning of shameful regret - as advertised, red musk, makeup, smoke, booze. Good times! I like it, but I think I prefer the Lady In Black for my red musk needs. Glad to have gotten to try this, though!

This is beautiful - musk and Myrrh, mainly. If it were a perfume, I would totally wear it all the time. Not sure I really want my house to smell like it (just a personal preference) but I think it's gorgeous. I think I'll spray my scarves with it.

Wet: I get red musk and dragon's blood (daemonorops) warring for dominance. Hints of honey. Was hoping for more of the cream, honey and red musk, but I think DB is going to win here. Dry: Wow, this settles beautifully. The leather comes out, and the musk and DB merge together. It's sweet and a little creamy. Lovely. Feminine and pretty. I have a hard time finding leather scents I really love, and this is one, so seriously debating finding a bottle of it. Smelling it makes me happy.

2016 Wet: Hmm, I don't actually get any coffee or milk out of this, making it more like a pumpkin spice candle than anything else. One of the notes is going a bit "off" on me, giving me that dry, dusty smell/feeling I don't care for. Dry: This recovers from that dry dustiness I don't like, but is still much more pumpkin candle than coffee. I don't dislike it, but would like it much more as a room scent than perfume.

This scent should be perfect for me, but the orris could ruin it all in one fell swoop! Wet: Wow, the red musk and red amber in this are to die for. That's glorious. Dry: This is a beautiful and understated red musk perfume. It's red musk, but not in your face. The amber sweetens and softens it beautifully. The other notes give it depth. I really love it, and think I need to find more.

Wet: Soapy florals. Still manages to be really pretty. Hoping the soap settles down and the honey, amber and skin musk come out. Dry: This dries down to a really lovely white floral. It's a bit high-pitched for my tastes - the amber, honey and musk I was hoping for never really come through, but I can still appreciate its beauty. I am glad to have a decant, but think that will be enough for me.

I couldn't resist finding out what cheesecloth ghosts smell like... Wet: As soon as I open the imp I smell cucumber, but once on my skin, the cucumber is faint and I get mostly....hmmm. This is tough. Not glue. Not exactly linen. Or rubber. Something vaguely woody, or maybe more like paper pulp. Definitely smells like craft store, with hints of cucumber. It's really interesting. Wait - asphalt! No, creosote! Is that what this is? I am stumped. It smells like a city, with a side of cucumber. Or something. Dry: Yep, still not sure. It's totally a thing, all to itself. With a hint of cucumber. Try it! You know you want to...(says the girl who still regrets not trying Day Old Ham)

Wet: Sweet and smoky! Reminds me (in feel more than scent) of both Arcana's Vanilla Craves Terror and Baby's First Krampuslauf, because they both have that similar sweet/smoky thing going on, I really like it. I do get hints of something sour though, and hope that settles on my skin. Also a bit stuffed up today, makes it harder to catch all the nuances (but I need the pick-me-up of testing Weenies, so I am doing it anyway!!) Dry: Very faint, but nice. The sour note fades away. I love the musk in this. I need to test it again when my nose is not stuffed, but this is promising.

I have no idea why this called to me - I have more than enough rose scents I hardly wear. But I just had to try it! Wet: Mmm, that's actually quite lovely. The words that come to mind immediately upon smelling this are: classic, vintage, nostalgic, romantic. It's rose dominant, but it manages to be creamy and powdery at the same time. It's feminine and kind of moving. I like this A LOT so far. Not sure I would wear it. But I am sure thinking about it. Dry: There is something about this that I really love, and I think it's actually the night cream, which is almost like a perfumey vanilla cream to my nose! Mixed with the powdery rose, this is totally lovely. Seriously considering getting a bottle, despite my promise to not buy more rose scents. Maybe I need to death match it with ones I already have.....

I'm stuffed up today, but am determined to test Weenies anyway! I will likely be giving everything I try today a second go, just in case my nose is off. Wet: Mmm, yummy, creamy cherry candy. Smells great, but has that edge that I know is just dying to go plastic Barbie heads on me.... don't do it, Yipe, don't do it!! Dry: Yep, fruity scented doll heads. *sigh*. Why, skin chemistry, why? *Goes to sit under the tree of despair*

I don't really like apple scents, but sometimes the apple just burns off and I am left with the other notes, and I love these other notes, so I wanted to give this a go! Wet: Fairly realistic, juicy, tangy apple - actually smells more green than red to me. The vanilla cream is present but faint It's my favourite note, so I am hoping it'll come out more as it dries. I can smell the red musk as well, hints of dry earthy patch, maybe a bit of warm teak. This is quite lovely so far. Dry: Unfortunately, despite all those amazing notes, this does not turn into anything exceptional on my skin. Hints of apple, patchouli and musk are all that remain once dry. This is underwhelming on my skin, and clearly not meant for me. Glad I got to try it though!

I am a sucker for blackberries, and am just learning I love dead leaves when mixed with a sweeter note, so I HAD to try this! Wet: Bright, tangy blackberry, sweet but also tart. Dead leaves are present, but secondary. There's something a bit "off" about it, dry and dusty. Hoping it settles on my skin. Dry: Really good. Tangy/sweet blackberry and hints of dead leaves. The weird note I was smelling fades away. I am a bit stuffed up today, making it hard to decide for sure, but I think this is on the short list for a bottle. I love blackberry and this is a really simple, lovely, autumnal blackberry scent.

Wet: Very soft and feminine. The lemon stands out (unfortunately, it's the only note in this I am not a huge fan of). It's not overly citrusy though, and the other notes come through more as it dries, but it's very faint. Having to slather on more and more to try to get a good feel for it. The more I put on, the more I get "lemon candy". Dry: It's pleasant - a soft, sweet floral with lemon. Very "golden" in colour. It's just not wowing me enough to want to track down a bottle.
-
The lotus is very sweet and bubblegummy in this, and the rose is a bit sour. It goes powdery quickly, and smells like powdery bubblegum and citrusy roses. It's actually not as terrible as it sounds, but it's not for me. I am not a big fan of lotus, to be fair, but I am always u p to try something new!

Lavender is my fave bedtime smell, and I like the idea of an autumnal bedtime scent! Wet: Pretty much as described! Leaves and lavender. The lavender is strong, unsweetened, soporific and medicinal, but in a good way. The leaves are secondary, at this stage. Dry: This is lovely. The leaves come out more, and the lavender softens, creating the perfect balance. Just as I suspected, this would make the perfect autumnal bedtime scent for me. I think I'll need to track down at least a partial.

Dead Leaves, Raw Leather, Bourbon Vanilla, and Clove
LizziesLuck replied to puellacaerulea's topic in Halloweenie
Wet: This is a morpher, and the notes are elusive in terms of what's dominant from the very second it hits my skin. First I get a very cologne-like leaves, then soft leather, then the clove comes out but sadly disappears on again....what is happening on my arm?! This may need a bit more settling? I do keep catching the same leaves not from the Sugared Cardamom scent, which I find very masculine and somewhat soapy, and different from other leaf notes. Dry: Dries down to a single note of that cologney leaf note that I don't care for. This one is not for me!- 25 replies

This really called to me. Sometimes simple blends are the best on my skin, so really excited to try this. Wet: Wow. Stunning. I didn't realize how much I like anise until right now. The teak is perfect with it. I think I only have one other scent with anise in it, so I am already thinking how I could easily justify getting a bottle of this...mmm, it's pretty! Squarely unisex. Sweet enough that I feel comfortable in it. Dry: This is lovely and subtle once dry. Something about it seems really right on my skin, but it's hard to describe why. I just really like it. And am debating a bottle. -
2016 - I have had my eye on this for a long time, and was glad it came back this year so I could try it! Wet: Mmm. Red musk, incense, honey. It's amazing. The wood notes in it are fantastic. (I am just learning to love some woods, yay me!) This is rich and heady and sexy without being overbearing. So far, I adore it. Dry: Yep, need a bottle of this. Spicy, sweet, sexy red musk and incense. This incense note is to die for. Can't wait to get my hands on more of this!
