  1. I've never tried Tulzcha, I just thought I would throw my two favourite mints out there: Envy - Green herbs slithering through mint, lime and lavender Anesthesia - peppermint, lavender, bergamot, and mandrake. Anesthesia is REALLY strong mint, and it does feel really cold to me when I put it on (I sleep with it on on the hottest night of summer, it really helps!) so I wonder if I might give you the same effect you`re looking for, even though it won`t be the same scent.

    Cleric

Wet: Mmm, do I ever love that rose amber! But there's a floral note in here that's overly sweet, almost bubble gum like (not unlike lotus) that I am just not a huge fan of. Dry: Really sweet floral. Still has a gum-like quality that I am not a huge fan of. I don't really dislike it, but it's not doing a heck of a lot for me either.

    Galvanic Goggles

I love of musk, so of course am excited to try this, but I tend to amp tobacco flower to high heaven and turn anything containing it into a single note - hoping that doesn't happen here! Wet: Interesting! This tobacco flower note is different from the one I amp - this smells closer to actual tobacco. I also immediately get the metal note, which is similar on me to the one in Kataniya. The balsam is almost smelling like Patchouli to my nose. Very interesting! The musk is lending a sweetness, I think, but I can't really pick it out. This is very unique. Dry: really interesting. The metal is most prominent. The musk is almost non-existent (sad face). I can hardly smell the tobacco flower at all, which is odd. The balsam smells really earthy. So this ends up smelling like metal with some sweetness and dirt. An old metal box, dug out of ground on a warm day. It creates a weird imagine in my head, and is somewhat evocative. I don't think I could ever wear it as a perfume, but I am really glad to have tried it!

    Honey and Beeswax scents

I have to add The Sharing of The Cake HG from the Post to this thread - honey cakes....../swoon.

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Generally I think I am REALLY terrible at this whole recommendations based on personality thing, so usually I don't make any. It's fun to read though, so I was just creepin through the thread, and as I read your blurb roseus, I just felt like you should try Blacker Than The Raven Wings of Midnight. (If you haven't.) So that's my two cents, for what it's worth!

    Unicorn and Ram

I have no clue why this called to me so much - maybe the wooly musk? I adore musk. Or the cardamom, that's a favourite. But leather is sooo iffy, so I already feel a little nuts for having blind bottled this. But here goes nothing! Wet: Not disastrous! The leather is very present, but doesn't smell like disgusting chemicals on me. The musk and cardamom are lovely. This is not as sweet as the type of scents I usually wear. It's very dry. But I am really enjoying it. And actually, it is getting sweeter as I wear it - musk is often perceived as "sugary" to my nose. Mmm. So far this is an amazing skin scent, very different than everything I have. Dry: I'm really surprised by this. I like it quite a bit. It's totally not the type of scent I usually wear, but I am finding it so soothing and comforting, like pulling on a warm sweater. It's a musky, leathery skin scent. Light, with hints of cardamom. Just enough sweetness from the musk. It's very light though, no noticeable throw. I can see myself wearing it on rainy/snowy days though.

    French Vanilla

I am so excited to try this that I can barely contain myself. Vanilla is my favourite note, and I have been dreaming of some sort of vanilla SN for forever. Wet: Wow, interesting. There's something root beer like about this. Either root beer or anise. Very much reminds me of the vanilla in Loved to Death, which I have always got an anise hint from (and loved). Definitely some comparison to Love's Philosophy as well, which lots of people get root beer from. This is much drier than I expected, not really creamy or buttery at all on me, and thus far NOT EVEN A HINT of plastic. It's really yummy, and much more complex than I ever expected a single note to be. Mmmm. Dry: I love this. It really does have a spicy quality on my skin though - either anise or sassafras, but I really can't decide which. Either way, I love this root beer/anise thing it's doing on my skin. I smelled it in the bottle, and couldn't detect anything other than vanilla, so I am guessing this is one of those cool skin chem things. Either way, glad to have this, and so glad it didn't turn to plastic on me. It's really lovely.

    Tricksy

Patchouli, aquilaria aguillocha, and Manuka honey. I fell in love with Tricksy hair gloss, and immediately had to hunt down a bottle of the perfume. Hoping it's exactly the same! Wet: Mmm. Dry, earthy, somewhat gritty patchouli. Not gnarly or chewy to my nose. The honey is less prominent in this (on me) than in the hair gloss, which does make me a little sad. The hair gloss is honey with patchouli on me, the perfume so far is more like patchouli with honey. Still lovely though. Dry: I don't love this. I don't even really like it, and that makes me so sad! Totally a skin chemistry fail, since I love it so much in HG format - I have to assume my skin amps the patchouli in a way I don't like, OR maybe there was some batch variation. Either way, I will pass this on to someone who loves it better, and wear my Tricksy HG instead.

    Phantom

Wet: Sweet, incensey rose. I smell more Myrrh than musk...hmm. Really pretty though. Like, really pretty. I love incense rose blends. This is gorgeous. Dry: Really beautiful sweet Myrrh and roses. I am so glad I tried this, as I had been trying to hunt down more of a rare LE that smells similar to me - can't wait to test them against each other and see if this is similar enough that I don't need to anymore!

    Hecate

Wet: Super sweet almond (aka cherry to my nose). Hoping this settles down and the musk and Myrrh emerge. Dry: All the notes are present and in balance. It's quite a sweet scent, and a bit of an odd combination. I like it, but I don't think it's very "me" and I can't really see ever wearing it.

    Tiger Lily

Wet: Lily is a weird scent on me - it does this sort of "wet cardboard" thing for the first little while. This is like wet cardboard with honey on it. Honey improves everything, as it turns out, it's not half-bad, even at this stage. Dry: Sweet, honeyed lily, as described. I quite like it! It's maybe not my favourite, due to the half hour of smelling like wet cardboard I had to endure to get here, but I can see how others without that particular skin chemistry fail would love this and be sad that It's been discon'd.
  12. Oh thank you! I'll see if I can track down a bottle on sale and if not, Loup Garou sounds like a good possibility. You could also try putting up an ISO post in the "wanted" forum, to let folks know you are looking for it.

    Sin Hair Gloss

I'm so excited to have this. One of the reasons I got into BPAL way back in the day was because I was in love with the patchouli/cinnamon combination in a Lush product (Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds). Someone had compared Sin to that, and I was immediately intrigued! Pretty happy to have it in hair gloss form now. I've sprayed it on my shirt sleeve, because it's easier to stuff my face in and huff away like a crazy person. It's so sweet and spicy, but the sandalwood and patch keep it from being gourmand. It's glorious, is what it is. One of the most relaxing, yet somehow sexy, scents that I have ever smelled. I will wear this a lot this fall/winter, with matching perfume. And I will be happy.

    Intrigue

I somehow failed to review this, even though I have had this imp for probably 10 years.... Wet: Yummy fig, but then the woods quickly amp up. This then becomes a woods scent, sweetened by fig. Dry: Mostly sweet fig, hints of woods. I am still conflicted about whether I love this enough for a bottle....10 years later. Lol. I guess that means I really don't need one.

    Scarecrow

Excited to try this! I am always intrigued by scents that don't have the actual notes listed Wet: Banana! Wait, no plastic. No...rocks? Minerals? WTF is that smell? MEAT? This scent is so confusing. It's not the Lab's hay note (which I love). There is something sweet an vegetal about it. And sort of fruity hints? I do not know what to make of this. It is entirely unique. (reading other reviews now, I can totally understand the nail polish or polish remover comparisons, but that's not EXACTLY it to my nose, but sort of) Dry: In the throw, I can kind of get the scent/feel of a barren field. Up close, it's quite a strange scent, on me at least. I love the Lab's hay note (as in Hay Moon) but this is not it, and it's just... little too different for me! Really a unique scent though, and I'm glad I got to try it!

    Swank

I guess I forgot to review this, when I had it. I had purchased it thinking I loved pomegranate, and maybe I did 10 years ago when I started collection. These days though, it turns straight to dust on my skin - really powdering, not fresh and tart at all. Makes me sad. Either way, this was a cool scent until my skin ruined it, and I was happy to pass it on to someone who will love it better!

    Sylvia

Warm, sweet clove. I think the carnation adds to the spice, but isn't distinguishable as a note, to my nose. The brown musk is sugary to me, and quite nice. Very woody. Overall, a really warm, sweet scent, just this side of masculine. Unisex, really. There's a wood note in there that is going slightly sour and unpleasant on my skin. Aside from that, I like this a lot, but have other similar scents that are a bit more feminine, a bit more my style. Glad to have gotten to try this though! It kind of smells like Christmas, actually....very nostalgic.

    Bluebeard

Sour violet and vetiver. I truly feel that one day there will be a violet scent that I enjoy on my skin. This - not it. *sigh* (as a side note, the whisps of lavender I get from this are lovely - true herbal lavender).

    The Black Tower

Sexy, smoky, dark. The wine sweetens it up. Fairly unisex. While I do love dark sexy scents, this one is just not me. I am not a fan of the way wine smells on my skin - always smells a bit artificial to me. The leather in this also amps up, and while I like it, again, just not quite me. I think I will pass this on to someone who might love it better.

    Dragon's Claw

Dragon's blood and I have such a weird relationship - I do really think the Lab uses more than one DB note. I love it in some things, where it's subtle and just adds a little resinous sweet spiciness. In other things it amps to high heaven (like now) and is so overbearingly sweet I can't stand to wear it. To top it off, the sandalwood went sour on me in this, as it occasionally does. Fail! Glad I tried it though. Damn skin....
  21. LizziesLuck

    Danse Macabre

Yep, smells like tree. Which I don't want to smell like, but I have a friend who does, so I'll pass it on to him. As it dries on me, the Frank inevitably amps to high heaven, it'll be interesting to see if it does the same on him.
  22. LizziesLuck

    The Temptation

Pretty - a sweet soft fruity floral on me. Hints of green as well. Very nice! I don't absolutely love it though, so I think I will pass it on to someone who does.
  23. LizziesLuck

    Mandrake

Earthy, rooty, woody. Interesting! I always like this sort of scent as a room scent, but it's just not something I really want to smell like. It does remind me of cedar a bit, so I can see where others get "pencil shavings", but to me it smells much more of the outdoors that that. There's a warmth about it that I quite like. I know I would never wear this, so I will pass it on to someone who might like it better. Glad to have gotten to try it though!

    Black Hellebore

What an interesting scent! I instantly like it, and it smells to me EXACTLY like a garden. The whole garden. But then something starts to go a bit plastic on my skin, boo! What a neat scent though, I can tell it would be amazing on someone with different skin chemistry. Really glad to have gotten to try it! But I will pass it along to someone who will hopefully have better luck with it.

    Saw-Scaled Viper

I smelled a sniffy of this, and decided it was too overwhelmingly spicy. I never tracked down a testable amount to actually put some on my skin until now No idea what made me decide I had to try it! But I have a decant of the original and 2016, and I am giving them both a go, on each arm. Original: Wet: Blech. Smells more like galangal than ginger. Like savory cooking spices. There's something really rooty and earthy about it. I can't detect the Snake Oil at all. This oil is darker in colour than 2016. Dry: Still a weird, herbal, almost medicinal note that I just don't care for. My guess would be the red ginger. Very different than 2016 to my nose. 2016 Wet: Mmm. Much lighter, not as punch-you-in the-face spice. Sweeter as well. The cassia is slowly amping up, but it's sweetened nicely. There is a huge difference between the two, currently. Dry: Much better than the original on me. My guess is the Lab uses a different red ginger note now. This is mostly cassia. It's too overwhelming for me, end up in Hot Hearts territory. Still, glad I tried it!
