    Godfather Death

Wet: Interesting! Yes, a little like Cola from the opoponax. The yew really comes through as well - if Cola grew on a tree, the tree might smell like this. This smells like a Cola Tree. I kind of like it? Very masculine though. Like a manly man, sitting under a Cola Tree. Dry: Still The Cola Tree. Which I have grown quite fond of! I know I would never wear this, but I may have a hard time parting with it anyway. I have an imagine in my head of a big, beautiful tree, with happy little red cans growing off of it's branches.... man I'm weird.

    Eternal

Wet: Sweet soapy floral, and something that smells suspiciously like jasmine, but not quite. Something else that smells like lotus/bubblegum, but not quite. This is odd on me, I do not think it's agreeing with my chemistry. Dry: Soap, soapy soap! Sweet, pretty soap, but soap nonetheless. Surprisingly I kind of like it....but not enough that I want to wear it. I find it quite nostalgic though, and it would make me really happy as a room spray.

    A Wonderful Light

I'm iffy on the orange zest, but love the other notes, so here's giving it a go. Wet: The orange zest is really bitter initially. Hoping that settles down. It's rather unpleasant right now. I can detect the honey/amber combo just barely underneath. It's really pretty, but is getting stomped on my orange zest. Dry: This actually dries quite nice. The bitter orange is all gone, leaving me with sweet amber and honey, with hints of vanilla. Sadly, it's not very strong though. I think I'll stick to O for my amber/honey/vanilla goodness.

    Venus Obsequens

I am not a fan of apple. That being said, if often burns off completely on my skin, leaving the other notes behind - and I love these other notes, so giving it a go. Wet: Apple, hints of cardamom and honey. It's somehow a bit musky. I shall wait to see if the apple disappears. Dry: Faint hints of apple, and something slightly bitter. It's mostly gone completely. Sadly this one is not for me! Glad to have tried it though.
  5. I just noticed this now, and wanted to thank you for the rec! I wouldn't have thought those could be similar, and Frederic was not on my radar as something I wanted to try. It's on the wish list now! Maybe it will satisfy my need to smell like The Painted Rose. Thanks!

    Kiss Amongst Discarded Tissues

Wet: Holy musty musk, Bat Man! And then the fruit starts coming in. The mandarin rind really is burnt....the blackberry is tangy. This is interesting and different, but thus far not something I want to wear. Dry: The Indian Musk in this reminds me of the Moroccan Musk in The Raptures and Roses of Vice - but that's its only redeeming quality on my skin. The burnt orange is just terrible on me. Others who don't have chemistry issues with orange will likely have better luck with this. That musk is gorgeous!

    Cherokee Rose Single Note

Wet: Rose sometimes does this thing where it smells lemony to me, and this is doing that. I actually quite enjoy it, as I find rose and lemon to be a delightful combo. This rose smells pink, and sweet, fresh and true. So far it isn't cloying, like rose occasionally be. Very fresh. Dry: Lovely sweet, fresh pink rose, with that citrusy edge still hanging around. It's quite lovely, but I think I have decided that I like roses best with other notes as well.

    The Anti-Saloon League

Wet: Creamy root beer float, with a hint of herbalness. It's less sweet than a true root beer float, but still sweet enough. Somehow that keeps it from being overly gourmand, too. Dry: Lovely. Sweet and creamy, but with that sassafras herbal bite that keeps it from going over the edge into foodie territory, at least to me. A gorgeous summer scent.

    Owl Moon

Wet: STRONG chewy, gnarly patchouli. Similar to the patch in Goblin, on me, but not exactly the same. Rooty is a good descriptor for it too. Very earthy, I can almost smell a soil note. The patchouli is very dominant over the honey, currently. I expected a lot of sweetness, to temper the patchouli, but I am not getting it. This almost smells mildewy on my skin. Sniffing it in the bottle, I get none of that - in the bottle it's chewy patch with an almost creamy honey note. Neither of these things should fail on my skin, but they are somehow. So sad! Dry: Dirt. WTF? I think I am having an off day. Either my nose or my skin. I will revisit this. Because these notes should be nothing but win on me.

    Libra 2007

Wet: Candy sweet cherry (but not veering into cough syrup territory), a hint of spicy carnation, and soap (the rose - sometimes it does that to me). Dry: Soapy rose. Sad.

    Sleepytime BPAL

For the last few weeks, Catch Me Dad has been my go to. It smells exactly like late summer in the country which I miss desperately. Love it.

    Candles Moon

Wet: Tangy fresh blackberry - not the more jammy, syrupy blackberry note I am used to from the Lab. The goat's milk adds more tang There's something green in there, and a cold note that's almost minty Dry: The goats milk comes to the forefront and drowns out that beautiful blackberry. Sadly, I don't love it. Glad to have tried it though.

    The Changeling

Wet: Hmm, different than I expected. The pumpkin smells more like spiced pumpkin than pumpkin rind. The woods keep this from teetering over the edge into gourmand territory though. Dry: Interesting. Dark vanilla and sweet woods. I can't decide how I feel about it. It's really intriguing though, and a very different vanilla. It may require further testing.

    Planchette

Frank and I have a difficult relationship. I love him, but he's a bully. He stomps all over all the other notes, pretty much always. But I always hope there will be a scent with other notes that can stand up to him, so I keep trying. Wet: Mmm, oh my gosh that's good. Oak? Teak? One of those woods that I love so much. I think it's oak, because it reminds me of Aradia with Frank instead of Tobacco. WOW. I want to bathe in it. Way more feminine than I would have expected, too. Dry: Very light. Frank did pretty much take over, I'm not getting much of the woods, but it is sweeter and lighter and more feminine than most Frankincense scents that I've tried. Not 100% sure how I feel about it. Further testing required.

So darn excited! This is amazing in the bottle. Wet: So pretty. Rose, Myrrh, sandalwood, in equal measures. The rose is really different in this, as is the Myrrh, but they are still distinguishable. Sweet, and lighter than I anticipated. Really different. Dry: This is so so pretty. I thought it was going to be darker, but it's really...elegant. Sophisticated. Beautiful rose, sweet Myrrh, hints of sandalwood. Lovely. Totally lovely. So happy I finally got my hands on it. Hoping it ages like a dream.

    Pumpkin V

I am still having a hard time just accepting that pumpkin blends never work on me. Furthermore, they all smell exactly the same. Pretty much smells like pumpkin pie spice. No real pumpkin in there, on me. Or vanilla. Or anything, Just spice. It's nice, but I don't love it.

    Fenris Wolf

Testing this for the first time, and also testing v2 on my other arm. Exciting! Wet: Very woody. Musky. Sexy. Wood and red musk. Smells like sexy man. Mmm. Dry: ......I don't know. Doesn't smell strongly of any of the listed notes, all of which I am quite familiar. It's a scent all its own. I don't care for it much tough, now that it's dried. It's almost...aquatic? Huh? Anyway, v2 was a resounding success, so I don't feel bad about this not working out.

    Fenris Wolf v2

(I am testing this and the released version at the same time) Wet: Red musk, pepper? and woods. Pine, maybe? I think it's a different wood than the released version, but I can't be sure. Dry: Amazing. Sweet red musk. This is almost a red musk single note on me, but sweetened really nicely by...something. It's freakin sexy, is what it is. I like it way better than the released version. I don't find it masculine at all on me, completely unisex. And awesome. I want to roll in it. So glad I blind bought it.

    Under the Harvest Moon

Wet: Wow, that's lovely. Sweet rose, lovely soft musk. Sugary vanilla. Hints of lavender and amber. Really really pretty. Dry: Beautiful sugared white musk, hints of vanilla, rose, and lavender. Freakin lovely.
  20. Oh yum!! This is so good. The honey note in this is a little bit floral/perfumey to my nose, which keeps this from being crazy foodie. The cake is rich and vanillic without being buttery. So so good. Exactly as promised. Perfection!

Saint Justina with the Unicorn Hair Gloss

Wow, this is potent! Sniffing it in the bottle, the cocao (which is rich but unsweetened, at first sniff) and clove are dominant. I'm testing this on my shirt, as I already have HG in my hair. Lots of clove, cacao, hints of leather and Myrrh. Wow. This is a dark, brooding scent. Not a heck of a lot of sweetness, just enough to keep the clove and cacao from being bitter. Actually, this is rather unisex. I am really loving it. Despite the spices and cacao, this is not particularly foodie. I like it a lot, and know I will wear it a lot this fall with some of my spicier scents.

Portrait of a Young Woman with Unicorn Hair Gloss

In the bottle, this smells like a creamsicle with a hint of anise, which makes me smile. Orange is one of those notes that I love, but I can't seem to wear any of BPALs orange notes on my skin - they turn to powdered cleaning product. There are lots of other notes I can't wear in perfume that I can in hair gloss, so I have lots of hope for this! I already have HG in my hair, so I am trying this on my shirt. It's seriously amazing. Creamsicle, yes, but the anise/fennel really pop once I spray this, and I just love that combo. Orange and fennel is classic. This is bright, sunny, happy. Sweetened by the amber and vanilla, with just hints of barely there musk. Yum!! I could eat it. Really unique, unlike any other HG I've smelled. So happy I took a chance on this!

    Pink Moon 2007

Not familiar with Phlox, really, but adore sugared carnation, so tracked some of this down. Wet: Oh hi phlox! So that's what it smells like. Interesting, almost effervescent, in a way. Very sweet, but not cloying. Not really getting a lot of carnation, or else the two florals are so well blended together that I can't differentiate. It is a little peppery, but in a good way. I like it so far. It has an interesting dry, dusty sort of quality that feels like summer. Dry: Pretty. A lovely sugary floral. Turns out I like phlox, or at least with the carnation. This is pretty. Sweet, a bit spicy. Smells like summer flowers in sunshine.

    Boadicea v9

Not sure exactly why, but I felt compelled to pick this up from the Lab's Etsy. Wet: Citrus. Ah man, really? I can't do citrus most of the time. This is ok so far, but not wowing me at all. Dry: Lemony musk! It's not actual citrus at all. That explains why it never went powdery. It's black musk doing this lemony thing. I have never actually experienced it to do that on my skin before, so that's kind of cool. I totally get what people are talking about now. There's some pretty florals in there too. I am not 100% sure how I feel about this! It's really light. Pretty. Feminine. Just not sure it's ME, you know? I may need to test it again. There's an interesting sugary vanilla note buried in there that I am really liking. Wishing that would amp up more! This does grow on me every time I sniff my wrist though....ugh, undecided!!

    Baneberry

Wet: Sweeter and fruitier than I imagined! Dry: Dark sweet fruit, with hints of soapiness from something. Nice, but not something I can see wearing.
