I am obsessed with the Wanderlust scents, and want to collect all of them as imps...weird, right? I have a feeling this will not be good on me though...lily often equals wet cardboard on me Wet: It's a lovely sweet floral for all of two seconds, then it goes straight to soap on me skin. Better than wet cardboard, by far! And this is beautiful soap, let me tell you. Gorgeous, in fact. Like the most expensive soap ever. But I still don't want to wear it as perfume. Maybe it'll settle. Dry: You know what, this loses a lot of that soapy undertone, and is actually really beautiful. The crocus, which I was not familiar with, is sweet and lovely, and balances out the lily, which is usually not this good on my skin. This is a lovely sweet spring floral. I don't need more of it, but glad to have tried it and to have an imp.

Sugared red musk, cardamom, and honey. I ADORE all three of the notes in this, and have never had any of them go "wrong" on me, so I was hoping this would be divine... And it friggin well is, like I can't even tell you. Like, eyes roll back up in your head good. The red musk and honey are perfectly balanced, and the cardamom makes this unique and interesting. I LOVE it. Love. It will pair beautifully with any sweeter perfumes containing red musk - I can't wait to wear it with Now Winter Nights Enlarge. Make no mistake, this is sexy. Like, verging on not being able to wear it to work because no one (including me) who smelled it would be able to concentrate... Red musk lovers, go get you some, and spray it on all the things.

Wet: Yum! The sugar cookie is really strong for a second, and I love it. Then my skin eats it, and the lime and bay rum take over. It's not a combination I am loving. Bay rum is iffy on me, I only seem to like it with certain other notes, normally things that sweeten it. This combo is actually sort of nauseating on me. Blech. Hopefully it dries better. Dry: Ok, this morphs, big time! The lime burns off on my skin, and all that's left of the bay rum is the warm spiciness. The cookies are present, but not in the buttery way that I dislike, just as a warm golden sweetness. This smells like Christmas, on me. It's warm and spicy and comforting. Unisex, I would like it on a guy, too. Undecided about whether I would really wear it though. But I do quite like it, and would love it as a room scent.

Wood Salt. Smells like sweaty man. Not sure if it's in a good way yet. It actually smells like natural man-smell to me, if that makes sense. Like the way a guy's skin smells, only..more so. So I guess I do kind of like it. But I sure don't want to wear it! It's growing on me more and more though, and I do think I would really like t on a guy. It's clean, while also smelling very masculine, a bit musky and sweaty, but in a clean way. It's kind of sexy, really. Very light. A skin scent, for sure.

As if I have never reviewed this! It's been a favourite since 2006. One of my go-to comfort scents. The warm creamy ginger is like a big hug when I am having a crappy day. Or like a warm glow when I am having a good day. I adore it and will always have a bottle.

Wet: Sooo much Frank! Frank is such a bully on me. The labdanum is coming off slightly cola-like right now, which I don't think I have experienced before. No sign of sandalwood. Don't know what liquidambar smells like, but I don't think I can smell it. Dry: The frank actually fades a bit and lets other notes come out, and then I didn't know what I was smelling for a while! But I looked it up, and it's the liquidambar, which actually reminds me of benzoin. Which makes sense, from what I can gather they are similar or perhaps even the same thing? Google was confusing me. ANYWAY, I like this. It's not amazing on my skin, but it's pleasant. Glad to have tried it!

Smoky-sour labdanum, black patchouli, wet tobacco, and brimstone. Wet: Smoky, sour indeed. But not really unpleasant. Masculine. Dark. This is sweeter than I expected on me, I think from the labdanum and tobacco. Thick and chewy smelling. Dry: This is tough for me to describe. I don't dislike it at all. Thick and resinous. A bit sweet. A bit sour and smoky still. It's not me, but it is for sure a sexy bad ass man smell. I think a bad ass woman could wear it with confidence too, just not this woman.
-
Wet: Honey, florals, and something medicinal. Hmmm. The medicinal smell is fading quickly though. This is lovely, but very light. Really lovely though. Dry: Gorgeous. The honey is actually almost like a honey musk. The florals are light and soft. I don't actually get any of the darker notes, only honey and florals. It's really pretty. Tempted to track down more....

Now I'm even more impatient for Act 4. Me too, that sounds so perfect!

I loved Dark Kiss!! I think I still have a bottle tucked away somewhere. I am going to look, and if so I will get it out and start comparing. I have a few ideas, I think, if I am remembering properly. It's bedtime for me now, or I would start digging, Feel free to PM me, so I don't forget! -
Wet: This is really musty smelling at first, and I did wonder for a second if it had "gone off" which I have never experiences before. But I think it's actually a combo of the coconut milk reading as really sour to my nose in this, and then once of the florals turning icky and chemically. I'm not that familiar with osmanthus or myrtle, so it could be either of them. Altogether, I do not care for this at all so far. Dry: This is really bad on me. Really bad. Like, I am going to wash it off now, after enduring it for an hour bad. It's one of the florals, mixed with the coconut milk, that creates this awful sour concoction that is just so unpleasant on my skin. Not for me! Glad I got to try it though. Gotta try everything coconut that I can....

Wet: The leather caused this to smell very much of chemicals for a second. Then the patch amped up and took over. Then everything settled and it was really nice for a few minutes, well blended, unique and interesting. And it still is, but when I huff hard I get that aweful chemical smell leather sometimes has on my skin, and I hate that smell. The throw is lovely for a second, and then that leather hits my nose on the back of each sniff I take. Dry: This turns really dry, dirty (not in the good way) and dusty on me. I think it's not meant for my skin chemistry, despite the notes that I love and the stage during drying that I really enjoyed.

Thanks so so much to the lovely who gifted me some of this to try! <3 Wet: Wow. At first I think - I have smelled nothing like this. And then I think, wait, this is so familiar! And then I just think - Wow. It's familiar and peculiar at the same time. It's surprisingly soft and elegant, based on those notes. I do think it's unisex enough that a man could wear it. Actually, I would really like to smell it on one. Dry: This is difficult to describe. In the beginning, it smells quite herbal, and I feel like it smells like what New Orleans would smell like, and I love that. I found myself thinking in the beginning that it would actually be tough for me to wear. But once it dries down - oh man. It's even better. Still familiar, yet totally unique somehow. Like familiar notes combining to create something totally indescribable and wonderful. It's now totally wearable, and the vanilla makes me adore it. But this is such a DIFFERENT vanilla, maybe because of what it's paired with. I loves it. I needs more.

Wet: WOW. The vetiver in this is gorgeous - almost honeyed. Smoky and rich. It's dominant right now. The pepper was present in the bottle, but vanished on my skin. This is smooth, smoky, and sweet. As it dries, my skin eats the vetiver (as it does) and the tobacco and blackened vanilla come into play. Mmm. Lovely. Dry: Ok, so a weird thing happened, the vetiver didn't disappear! Which is great, because this is the nicest vetiver I have smelled. It's lovely with the tobacco, and the pepper makes a reappearance. It's just barely sweet enough once dry. I like it quite a bit.

I've never tried the Tokyo Milk scent, so I am just going off the notes, but you might try: Snooty Rose - Red rose, oud, plum, bergamot, and red sandalwood. Hope - Sugared Rose - you could maybe layer this with something woody? maybe Beauty, The Aggrieved - A white rose draped by a delicate, pale, sheer veil of vanilla, the depth and darkness of her black lace embodied by tobacco absolute, Indonesian patchouli, Bulgarian oakmoss, frankincense, white sandalwood, and myrrh. I also wonder if Between Your Heart and Mine from Crimson Peak might fit - Heartwood bois de rose and vanilla-touched rose. -
Sweet scents, sugar notes & things that smell like candy
LizziesLuck replied to voila's topic in Recommendations
have you tried Mouse Circus? A toodle oodle of pink cotton candy noses, vanilla spun sugar fur, scattered kernels of popcorn, and a touch of polished golden wood. or how about Sweets to the Sweet Sugar upon sugar, honey upon honey: white cane sugar and honey absolute. There's also Kill-Devil Sugar cane, molasses, oak wood, and honey. I have to agree with Elegba as well coconut, tobacco and sweet, sugared rum. - don't let the tobacco in this one scare you off, it's all about that sugared rum, which ends up smelling almost butterscotchy to me. It's divine with the coconut. -
Wet: Wow. This absolutely smells like the musk from Snake Oil to me. Which I had always sort of thought was a red musk, but now that I smell it solo, it's more of a sugary black musk on me. It's lovely. Sweet and sexy. Mmmffffggg. Dry: Beautiful and a bit sexy. It doesn't morph. I find it plenty feminine enough for me (and I generally like fairly feminine scents) but I can also envision that it would smell good on a man, especially if layered with some woods. Myself, I am already thinking what I might like to layer it with...wonder if it would be good with French Tobacco??

Wet: this is a really dark, rich, red musk blend. I love red musk, but I find it sharp without some sweet notes to go along with it. This is a bit sharp at first, but as it warms on my skin, the tobacco is coming out and sweetening things up. I like this. Dry: I like this a lot. I feel there is something about it throwing me off a little bit though. There's an almost fruity quality to it that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I think I will need to test it another time before deciding.

This starts out as super yummy nutty creamy GLORIOUS coffee on me, but then quickly turns "stale" and dusty, as some gourmand blends do on me. So sad! I will try another day, as sometimes I do just have off skin days, but I am not hopeful this will remain true on my skin. It is AMAZING in the imp though - the nicest coffee scent from the Lab I have smelled, and I have tried as many as I can. If you love coffee and you get the chance to try this, you should. Seriously.
-
Wet: This is all piney frost note on me. No sandalwood, no vanilla. This isn't the frost note that I care for from the Lab, either. Hoping the other notes come out as it dries Dry: This remains mostly that frost note for hours and hours. Later the vanilla comes out a bit, but this is still not something that I want to wear. I was hoping for vanilla/sandalwood, which I love, but sadly this is not meant for my skin. Glad to have tried it though!

Wet: Mmmm. Red musk, something sweet, something a bit spicy. It reminds me of The Soldier. I like it a lot. Dry: I think I love this. I adore red musk, but only when it's with something sweet, and this is quite sweet, though I can't pinpoint where the sweetness is coming from. There's some lovely warm spice to it as well. It does remind me a bit of The Soldier, and the Elephantine Colossus, but I think it's different enough that I could justify a bottle. So glad to have gotten to try this!

YUM! I love the perfume, but thought maybe I wouldn't like something effervescent in my hair. Turns out it's my skin that amps all fizzy notes the Lab makes - in my hair this is all about the sweet strawberry cream and gin! So good. I like it even better than Strawberry Moon HG.
-
Wet: Man I love the Lab's champagne note! But grapefruit is rarely my friend. This is going horribly bitter yet though, just clean and bright and fruity and effervescent. Yum! Dry: I LIKE this. I did not expect to. But somehow the champagne note makes the grapefruit turn out ok on me. It's totally wearable. Fresh, clean and effervescent. Very grateful to the lovely who frimped me some of this. <3

Clove discussion! including bitter clove and clove cigarettes

And now also adding Mourning Lace - beautiful clove with hints of warm wood, sweet and creamy. Love it. -
Wet: Mmmm! Clove. Oak. Gorgeous, sweet and creamy. I am loving this. I did not expect it to be so sweet. Mmmm. Dry: This is beautiful. Spicy, a hint of that beautiful oak note, and then sweet creaminess from the cognac and vanilla blossom. The Frank and Myrrh haven't stomped all over the other notes as I feared they would, in fact I barely detect them, if anything they just add depth. This is a gorgeous, warm, glowing scent, and it rivals Lamia v3 for my favourite clove scent.
