it's in the post right above yours! Apparently I was too "lazy" to read the whole post! (Get it? I'm hilarious...) the sloth in that post was too lazy to drop down into its own paragraph. it was burrowing and snuggling the bonbon. bonbons are fun when one is slothing. it was also snuggling the smokestack. smokestacks can be unhealthy for slothing lungs. the exception being the bpal ones. Anne, you crack me up!

Best BPAL for gym, workout, sports, exercise?

I also work out at home. I usually take my gym time as a "stress test" opportunity for scents that are potentially iffy or likely to be strong, especially if my body temperature were to spike at work. It's a good way for me to force myself to give a scent a chance to morph, as I'll have to put up with it for 2 hours or so (day off workout). When not testing, I'll treat myself to aromatherapy with something I know is too powerful to slather. My "me" time, away from my husband's or the world's sensitive nostrils, I'll stink if I want to! Red musk and dragon's blood are especially marvelous when I run hot, but I seem to also reach for woody and smoky/vetiver blends a lot. Things in which I have deliberately bathed: Smokestack / Antikythera Mechanism (both STRONG, sweet polished woods to me), Greed, Brimstone, Aureus, Anne Bonny, The Infernal Lover, Bloodlust... * Lesson learned the hard way: Snow at Noon had low throw when tested sitting around at home, but turned me into a green supernova in the middle of a lecture. that's terrible! I don't seem to have that issue - something is either strong on me or not, regardless of activity. I slathered on some Spooky before my run today - the combo of invigorating mint and warm boozey coconut was PERFECT for getting all hot and sweaty. It might be a new fave for before exercise. I never used to apply before hand either, because it seemed like a waste, since I was just going to hop in the shower after....but I literally have so much perfume that I will never use it all, and I am constantly acquiring more, so I figured, why not!? It makes me super happy to wear whatever I want, because it is "me time" and I don't have to worry about friends or co workers sensitive noses, I slather in what I want, and love getting big whiffs of it while I run. -
Wet: uugggh/ Almond is so iffy on me, and this has gone wrooonng. Fake cherry with a hint of plastic. NASTY. Darn skin, this sounded so good! Dry: Not as horrid as wet, but still not good. I don't know why almond smells like cherry to me, but this is not a BPAL thing. Almond extract does too, and Marzipan. Real almonds smell like none of those things to me.....anyway, this is not for me.

Wet: Oh wow. NOT what I was expecting. I expected pastry, but not this beautiful dark sweet/tart fruit scent. YUM. Reminds me maybe of less sweet, zingier version of Eat Me. Uh oh. I did not expect to like this this much, I just wanted to try it. I maybe in trouble here! Dry: Luckily, this gets quite sweet and buttery on me, and I don't like it nearly as much, so I won't have to begin the impossible quest of trying to find more! It is quite nice though, I just don't love foodie scents like I used to.

Really excited to be getting to try this!!! Wet: Powdery orange. Damn my skin chemistry! I knew this would be iffy, based on it having orange in it, but I somehow still hoped it would work. I may have been sadly mistaken. There's this floral vanilla scent coming from under the powdery orange that is TO DIE FOR. I'm going to let this settle on my skin a while. Dry: Soft powdery vanilla and orange. Disappointingly underwhelming on me. I will find my decant a home with someone who will love it better. Glad to have gotten to try it!

Black amber and smoky vanilla with cistus, benzoin, caramelized tobacco, and blackened nutmeg. Wet: Sweet, spicy tobacco. SO. GOOD. The black amber note is amazing. Dry: I need more of this. It's dark, sweet, sexy. Love it. A tobacco favourite.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Sloth yet...

Wet: True, slightly bitter, slightly sweetened coffee beans. This is not the scent of brewed coffee, so it has no acidity, to my nose. It's just pure coffee bean with a hint of sweet. Love it. Dry: Stays true. Pure coffee! I imagine it would be perfect for those who don't like spice or vanilla or anything else in their coffee. It's slightly sweetened, and that's it.

In the bottle, this is pure artificial banana candy/medicine, and it grosses me out. Wet: Tobacco, cocoa, hints of banana, but much more tolerable. Hints of smoky vetiver. Interesting. Also, FYI, the cocoa in this one really separates, needs a good rolling to reincorporate it. Dry: Sweet, tropical tobacco. You can't actually smell the banana any more, it just lends that sweet tropical feel. I like it! Not sure I love it, but it's good. Sultry.

Best BPAL for gym, workout, sports, exercise?

It seems a lot of people prefer a fresh or clean scent while working out...I don't really care for those types of scents, and I also want something nice and strong so I get whiffs of it while I am running (I don't go to a gym, I run on my elliptical at home so I don't have to worry about my scent bothering others). I wore Snake Oil today, that was great. Randomly wore Pirate Moon a couple of times lately, that was ok, but not quite what I was looking for in a workout scent. I sprayed the Lady in Black Atmo on my clothes on the weekend, that was nice. I still feel like I am searching for the perfect workout scent - something that smells even better when I am hot and sweaty. I'll keep looking! -
Wet: really pretty. Sweet, feminine, floral without being FLORAL. The amber and vanilla and very present. This is lovely, just as I imagined Dry: A lovely, soft, feminine, almost citrusy floral. Sweet and innocent. I think I actually get more marigold than chrysanthemum. It's very nice.
-
Wet: Ick. Slimy, rotten vegetables. I may have to wash this off. It's quite bad on my skin. I can smell he Lab's gorgeous green grass note underneath whatever is disagreeing with my skin chemistry, but something in this HATES me. It's become sharp, peppery. Vegetal for sure. Can't quite place it though. There's also a hint of soap just throwing the whole thing off even more. Blarg. Dry: That horrid note burns off, and I am left with something a bit green, and soapy. Actually fairly pleasant at this point, but not something I would wear. Glad to have tried it though!

Wet: Tobacco, woods, SEX. Mmm. Dry: On me, there is nothing sharp about this, it's all sweet, smooth tobacco. I really like it. Because I amp tobacco, lots of blends smell similar to this on me, so I will have to decide if I want more of this.

Wet: Geranium and the rose-infused sandalwood, which smells like the part of bois de rose that I like, before it goes sour on me. This is nice. Pretty and haunting. Something almost citrusy about it. Dry: Very pretty. Geranium is dominant, with something sweet and citrusy that isn't actually citrus, because my skin ruins citrus. I think the elemi, from what I've read. The rose-infused sandalwood is quite sweet and feminine. I like this. Not sure if I need more, but I like it.

Wet: Omg, so much pine. Pine and I don't get along, but I adore the other notes in this, so I wanted to try it. This pine is so strong, almost minty, the way pine can be. Very much pine cleaner at first, but then the honeyed notes come forward and tone things down a bit. Interested to see how this dries. Sometimes pine burns off on my skin and becomes tolerable. Dry: The pine does burn off, leaving a slightly sweet, but very very dry patchouli note. There is none of the sticky honey and tobacco I was hoping for, This one isn't for me.
-
Wet: Lemon and mildew. Like you tried to mask the scent of mildew with lemon cleaner and failed. Interesting? It's actually not as terrible as one would think - it's like clean spoiled with a little decay. Dry: This smells like dust. Like dusty forgotten places, with the faintest whiff of incense smoke. It's kind of haunting. Not something I would wear, but very interesting.

Wet: Opoponax is doing it's Coca-Cola thing here, in the best way. It's very sweet due to the amber with the tobacco. I don't pick up the leather at all, thus far. Quite nice! Dry: Dries down to a nice warn leather note, with a lot of sweetness from the opoponax/amber combo. It's pleasant, but not for me. I imagine this would smell amazing on a man.

Was gifted some of this to try <3. The leather and latex scare me a bit, but all these other notes are totally right up my alley! Wet: Oooh. Very Myrrh dominant, with a hint of Opoponax. It's warm and almost spicy. Dry: This is all warm, rich Myrrh, and almost spicy opoponax on me. I quite like it, but will have to have a good think about whether I wanna take on the challenge of finding some more.

The Primordial Point of Creation, Mazloth, Being Out of Nothingness, the Origin of Thought and the source of the 32 Ways of Wisdom. I was gifted some of this to try <3 Wet: Wow, this is interesting. At first it smells like Coke, and I think Opoponax, then it smells like Root Beer and I think Sassafras/Sarsaparilla. Now I'm thinking both. It's dark and rich and sweet. I think there's some red musk in there? Reminds me of Snake Oil meets The Elephantine Colossus. YUM Dry: Love this. Dry down is the same as well, red musk, root beer, vanilla. Rich, creamy and sweet without being gourmand. It's kind of sexy. I will likely try to track down some more.

Wet: Very masculine, and very very good. Built to fascinate, indeed! I like this a lot. It has the same hot metal note I get in Kataniya. The wood is interesting, and I can't place exactly what it is. The scent give the impression of being hot and cold at the same time. Dry: Primarily that hot metal note, which I like, in theory, but I don't think it's wearable for me. I do really enjoy it though, and think it would be especially great on a man.

When plum works on me, it is AMAZING. When it doesn't it's plastic. Only one way to find out! Wet: Mmm. Good so far. Dark fruity floral, which is always a big hit for me. Dry: I like it a lot. The plum has worked here on me, but is not overpowering. The red musk is just barely present, and overall this is still a dark fruity floral. I will likely have to test against some other dark fruity florals I like before deciding if I need a bottle, but I am tempted, especially since I am obsessed with Neil Gaiman.

Wet: Very masculine on me, but fantastic. Like the most intriguing, haunting, unique cologne I have ever smelled. I can't pick out notes at all. Wow, such a cool scent! Dry: This gets much more feminine as it dries, then unfortunately turns really soapy. It's quite a beautiful, nostalgic soap scent, and I actually do really like it, but I don't think I would wear it. I am sure it would be beautiful on the right person.

In the bottle, this is very tropical/floral. I would have guessed Tiare, but clearly that's not it. Maybe there's a similarity with Monoi de Tahiti?? I'm not that familiar. Wet: Beautiful lush tropical flowers, something sweet and candy-like. Interesting! Not quite what I expected. Liking it so far. Dry: This ends up smelling like Coconut, Vanilla Bean and Tiare Hair Gloss to me. Not a bad thing at all! It's primarily a beautiful tropical floral ( I swear it smell like Tiare, am I nuts??) with hints of vanilla and just the faintest whisper of coconut. I love it. I would totally recommend this to folks wanting a really tropical beachy scent that is not coconut heavy. This screams summer, the beach, vacation, the tropics, AWESOME.

Wet: sweet, almost candy-like pear. Lily (aka wet cardboard, on me). Not pleasant thus far. Dry: Once the lily settles, it's quite nice for a bit, but fades really quickly to just a faint pear scent. Not really for me, but it has it's charm, for sure.
