Wet: Citrus, jasmine, soap. Uh oh. Dry: Pure soap! Really lovely soap, actually, I would totally put this is my soap dish, but I don't want to wear it as perfume.

The champaca is really strong, and I can smell it before I even open the bottle, which scares me. I was hoping for pretty much all the other notes BUT the champaca...eeep! Wet: Champaca and something really sour and icky. But it's settling quickly into something dark and rich and complex. Dry: This has just become my new favourite incense blend. It's complex, and so well blended I can't pick out individual notes at all. It's dark, rich, heady. Not "head shoppy" at all. It's beautiful and I love it. <3

Wet: Ermagerd. Coffee and tobacco and spices and HEAVEN. Oh that's good. BUT there is a hint of chemically leather under there that wants to ruin it all - I am praying it behaves. Dry: There is a lot of leather in this, but it is awesome. There are few leather notes I can wear, and apparently this is one of them. It's not the black leather of Whip, to me (one of the few I can wear), it's softer, like well worn leather. It's amazing with the coffee and spices. I often amp tobacco, but it's just a hint in this. I love this. Love.

As if I haven't written up a review?? I have this sort of love-hate relationship with Underpants. When it first came out from the Lab, I foolishly thought gourmand scents were my favourite, and that things like sandalwood and saffron were "icky". So I ignored this and just got Closet and Underbed (which I do love). Then, many years later when I realize how much I love vanilla cream, rum, saffron AND sandalwood, I am kicking myself because I could have had this straight from the La and not be having to try to hunt down the off partial or decant here and there, at steep prices. Anyway, I love this scent. It is as described, lots of saffron and rum on wet, settling into a lovely vanilla cream sandalwood with just hints of the rum and saffron remaining to give it depth and interest. It's amazing and special and I am glad to have some.

Wet: This has that "dusty" or powdery quality that gourmand scents sometimes get on my skin. The mint is nice, but this vanilla note is struggling on me. It was lovely in the imp and for a split second before it mixed with my chemistry. Dry: Still dusty and powdery. I adore the Monster Baits, because the first Monster Bait update was one of my first orders directly from the Lab, so they have a special place in my heart, and I wanted to try the only one I hadn't tried in the series. It's not for me, though I will likely keep the decant for sentimentality.

Oils with the strongest throw or sillage - the most noticeable scents
LizziesLuck replied to lunalight7's topic in Recommendations
Good necro bump! Snow White (I have 2015) might take the cake for longest lasting and most throw. Eat Me also has huge throw on me. Snake Oil and Womb Furie are very strong with lots of throw as well. The Mirror, Mother Ghost and Muse of Fire all have tons of throw on me. Volcano in Springtime is good and strong, as is Aradia. I am sure I will think of more. -
Wet: Wow, this is so interesting! The different notes swirl in and out. I get what smells like anise?? Then sassafras. It's crazy. This scent is crazy. But it a good way? My nose is confused and I don't know what to think. I can't decide if I love it or if it's weird or intriguing. Dry: This is really unique. I really like it. It's hard to pick out what I am smelling, but the scent overall is dark, sweet, and mysterious. It's compelling and different and I think I should have a partial bottle at least.

Wet: Yum. It doesn't smell like hot chocolate on me, but it is yummy. It smells more like chocolate cereal on me. It's very yummy, but more and more lately I am finding myself not as drawn to gourmand scents as I used to be. This is not wowing me. Dry: It actually ends up rather perfumey, which I wasn't expecting. It's not bad, by any means. In fact, it makes it less gourmand, and I think I actually like it more. I think there are marshmallows in this hot chocolate, and there is vanilla in the marshmallows, and it is a perfumey vanilla. I still get the cocoa, but it is like a dry cocoa powder with the vanilla. I like it a lot, but not sure if I love it. Undecided, will need further testing! ETA: A couple of hours later and the vanilla is gone, it's just soft dry cocoa and it's not wowing me.

Wet: Mmmmfffggg. That vanilla is so good! But then the orris kicks in. Orris and I are not friends. At first it's actually beautiful in this, with the vanilla, but then it all goes a bit plastic and powdery at the same time. Sometimes scents recover from that on my skin, so I am waiting patiently before passing judgement. Dry: I am back and forth on how I feel about this. It's a bit too sweet and powdery for me, I think, but there's also something so beautiful about it. I guess I like it, but wonder if it's really "me". It's the closest I have ever come to wanting to wear something with orris in it. I should know by now that I just don't care for it. Out of the alarming number of bottles I own, only 1 contains orris (Lyonesse). I think this will likely get passed on to someone who will love it fully. ETA: So several hours later, this is gorgeous. Still a little powdery, but I keep catching whiffs of it and loving it. The vanilla in it reminds me of the vanilla in L'Estate. I need to at least give this a good full day wear before I decide on it. I don't love the wet stage. but the later stages of dry down are really something.

Where is my order? What is Click N Ship? How long does this take?
LizziesLuck replied to Snow White's topic in BPAL FAQs
It might be best to email tradingpost@papow.net I shall! Thank you for that Yes Puddin has said the form on the website doesn't always work. I am sure once he gets your email he will straighten it all out for you. -
Where is my order? What is Click N Ship? How long does this take?
LizziesLuck replied to Snow White's topic in BPAL FAQs
Yes, sometimes the Post does take that long - Puddin is often all by himself in the Dungeon trying to get orders out. He is, however, usually really good about answering emails. What address did you send your email to? Do you mind if I ask which items you ordered? Maybe one of them is the issue? -
I think I wanted to try this more because I love the character, and I think the notes Beth picked to represent him are spot-on, however most aren't notes I would normally jump at Wet: I am getting tobacco flower rather than tobacco, and leather rather than raincoat. Oh wait, there's plastic. Lots of it. Is that the raincoat? Or did the milk note go plastic? Who knows. This is so weird. Dry: Marginally less weird? But very chemically. Plastic or leather, not really sure. But it's not working for me, sadly. It was fresh out of the mail, so maybe I will test again. Or not.....

This just came in the mail today, and it is hot out, and I should be letting it rest before I test, but I'M NOT, so there. Wet: Lots of sugared tea, and that amazing combo of note I associate with all of the laces and COCONUT! Omg, I get the coconut in this. I adore coconut. And this is like Black Lace with coconut so far - a million times better than expected! I never amp coconut, and usually only smell it in blends where it is the dominant note. *swoon* Dry: Sadly, the coconut fades. But this has that beautiful creamy vanilla thing that I love so much about the laces. Sweet, creamy and elegant.

Wet: Mmm. Resins and spices. Cinnamon for sure. I also feel like I am getting some menthol, or eucalyptus, or maybe pine? Something I am not enjoying at all, which sucks because I adore the resins and spices. Dry: Mmmmm. Whatever piney sort of thing was happening totally burned off, leaving me with sweet amber and spices. I think there is both clove and cinnamon in this, maybe some cardamom, for sure some amber. Num. Happy to have it!

I have Miss Spink on my other wrist right now (which I was loving at first, and is now turning to bitter burnt plastic and hot metal....mmmm) Wet: Maple syrup! It's like someone dumped syrup on what is going on on my other wrist. So burning bitter plastic, metal, and maple syrup. WTF, skin??? I do love the syrup note. It's also in The Other Miss Forcible, which I just fell in love with and ordered a bottle of. Dry: So Miss Spink eventually turned to hairspray on me, but this has remained maple syrup over burnt plastic. Boo skin! Both Miss Forcible and The Other Miss Forcible are much better on my skin chemistry.

Wet: Omg! Not what I was expecting! It reminds me of Venus Verticordia right off the bat - there's a sugared/honeyed floral in here that is TO DIE FOR!! As it dries it smells nothing like Venus V., but it's lovely in it's own right. Very very sweet, but I love sweet perfumes. It has a very classic feel. I am not actually that familiar with either tuberose or gardenia, so I can't say if either is dominant. Dry: I totally get the hairspray effect others have mentioned. That's what this is on me. It's so strong!! It's not really unpleasant or anything, just not something I want to smell like.

Wet: Honey and pine, to my nose. Which is interesting for moments, but then the pine turns to cat pee on me. Dry: Very soft honey. It's nice, but I have lots of other honey scents I like more, and the wet stage is quite terrible on my skin.

Wet: Mostly moss on me. Very masculine. As it dries is just smells like non-descript cologne. Dry: Cologne. Nice cologne, mostly moss. I don't get any of the ambergris, which makes me sad, as I love it so. This is really nice, but not for me. Would love it on a guy!

Wet: Cedar and lime - something creamy. Interesting and different! All of these notes together, I had no clue what to expect. This is incredibly unique, I have never smelled anything like it. Dry: This is so interesting, I can't stop smelling it! Creamy lime, cedar, and hints of something I can't pick out. Really really unique. I don't think I would ever wear it, but I am tempted to keep the decant and give it a shot!

I adore Good Omens, and all things Neil Gaiman, and mostly just wanted to try this for the name and idea of it more than anything. Other than the hint of tobacco, the notes don't actually appeal to me, but I have never tried a "book smell" and am quite curious! Wet: Mmm, this smells like wood! Not what I was expecting, but makes sense since that's what paper is made out of. It's sweeter and lighter than most wood scents are on me, but unmistakeably woody. It fades really quickly though, down to what smells more like the memory of a scent than freshly applied perfume. It's really interesting though! I find it rather masculine. Dry: I like this much more than I expected! It's still not a me scent. I think it would smell nice on a guy, fairly unisex. Soft leather, faint tobacco, hints of what I am assuming is parchment but reads as wood to my nose. Nice! Glad to have gotten to try it.

I have Miss Forcible on my other arm for comparison. Where Miss Forcible is a sweet skin musk on me (lovely) this is a down and dirty version of the same scent. Not sure if it's a hint of vetiver or maybe tobacco that has been added? But it's lovely. I am undecided if I want a bottle of Miss Forcible, but I am pretty positive I want one of The Other Miss Forcible. It's kinda sexy! I like it a lot.
-
I adore this when wet - it's like a sugared skin musk, and it's lovely. But it fades so quickly! It's still lovely, just not very strong. This is what I wish my skin naturally smelled like. I just don't think it's strong enough for me to warrant buying a bottle. But I love it, so I am torn.

Mummeries and Straining-to-be-Memorable Passages
LizziesLuck replied to Teamama's topic in Limited Editions
Wet: Lavender and blackberry, nice! Sweeter than I had imagined, which is great. I adore blackberry. I like how herbal this is as well. Dry: I really like this. It's fruity and fresh, lightly herbal. Not sure how "me" it is, or if I would wear it enough to justify a bottle, but I do really like it. -
There are still several acts of the Carnaval left to come out. Last time it was in town it was around for a couple of years. It's my understanding that they are just currently out of stock and will be back

Pretty much what is says on the tin - lavender (love) and magnolia (not doing it for me in this). The magnolia is somehow smelling rather a lot like jasmine? I don't think I have had that happen before. Either way, it's ruining it for me. To be honest, I am ok with that, I have other intentions for this decant anyway.
