Wet: Musk - much lighter than I thought it would be, and incense, specifically champaca. Interesting. Very light. I get the grape that others have picked up on. Dry A very pretty, feminine incense blend. The floral and musk swirling through it are interesting. Overall it ends up being a little too high pitched and perfumey for me, but I can appreciate it's uniqueness as well.

Wet: Wow, this is one of the prettiest aquatics I have ever smelled. I generally don't like them, but I am loving the lily of the valley in this! And then it turns to soap. Dry: The most lovely lily soap, but soap nonetheless. It was really pretty for a few mins though! Darn skin.

Grapefruit and jasmine. About the worst combination possible for my skin - and yet, it's really not terrible! Neroli is notoriously awful on me too, but again, then isn't so bad. Impressive, really. Still not for me, but impressive.
-
Wet: A LOT of cedar. Really green cedar. Which smells remarkably like BO on me? Whew. Not what I was expecting! Dry: The cedar totally dominates. It's an iffy note on me - ok in some things, not others. It's not working for me in this, sadly.

Wet: Mmmm. Sexy honey etc. Don't know what the etc. is that I am smelling - don't care. This is goooood so far. Dry: It's good. But maybe not as good as I thought it was going to be when it was wet. It's sexy, for sure, but in a more primal way that I was expecting. I thought it was going to be more great dress and heels sexy. But instead it's messed up hair, smeared lipstick, shirt on backwards, where are my panties sexy. So still sexy, but less, umm, refined than I originally thought. I think this needs more testing before I decide if I want more.

Wet: Whew! Bitter, dark florals. Then the labdanum kind of takes over. This is an odd, murky sort of floral. It's not working for me so far. Dry: Weird bitter smoky, yet also soapy, floral. Not for me!
-
Wet: a sharp, slightly bitter aquatic. Not nice on me so far. Dry: Aquatic - which equals nauseating dryer sheets on me. Too bad! I know lots of people love this one, but it's just not meant for my skin chemistry.

Ok, so I can't do jasmine. Or grapefruit. Gardenia is seriously iffy. But I am obsessed with the Monster Baits, and also with vanilla. so I snagged a bottle of this anyway, and I am going to give it a go. Wet: OMGJASMINESMELLSLIKEPEEANDWETCARDBOARDWHATWASITHINKING!!! But seriously, why did I think this would be ok? WOW. Just to add insult to injury, one of the vanillas is turning plastic. Dry: biggerCritter has settled down to a sweet, slightly plastic vanilla jasmine scent. As far as jasmine goes, it's one of the nicest I've smelled, and that's saying a lot on my skin. But it still just doesn't work on me. Oh little bottle. It's not your fault. This one's all on me. I will find you a home where you are loved and appreciated.

A very kind friend gave me some of this, knowing I like patchouli. Wet: The patchouli in this is different - I think it mixes seamlessly with the pepperwood to create this dry, woody, peppery scent that is so unique. The vanilla adds some sweetness. It's a little resinous, a little incensey. It's a really neat scent. Dry: This is just so interesting! A little sweet, a lot woody. A bit dry. And peppery! It makes my nose tingle, but in a good way.

Vampire Tarot: The Fool
LizziesLuck replied to freneticfloetry's topic in 15 Painted Cards From A Vampire Tarot
Wet: Apple, mint, earth - interesting! Reminded me of the dentist for two seconds, but I don't know why, and it wasn't enough to put me off. I am not a huge fan of either apple or mint, but something about this called to me (likely the earth - love me some dirt!). So far I feel like I would want to wear this to bed a lot in the summer, which is good because I feel like I am lacking in bedtime BPAL right now. Dry: There is something really bitter in this that has spoiled it for me, unfortunately. -
Wet: Mmm. Tropical drink paradise! Rum and pineapple are dominant so far. I've never smelled BPAL's pineapple note, but I'm digging it. It's more of a pineapple candy or syrup note than fresh pineapple. The coconut is barely present, which is a little sad, it's just adding some warm nutty notes to the rum, which is slowly taking over. Overall this is really yummy and beachy. Dry: My only complaint is that this is not very strong. I will give it a full day slather and see how it lasts throughout the day. I really really like it, it's sweet sticky summer in a bottle!
-
Wet: Somehow this combo of notes smelled like tobacco for a moment, and it was lovely. Dry: It has indeed turned into a soapy floral. Not for me!
-
Wet: Pure lemon oil. Something a little green and herbal underneath. Dry: Really unpleasant on me. Smells like lemon and rotting vegetation and herbs.

I really don't like violet, and it doesn't care for me either, but I just have this compulsion to try everything, so I will just try to be objective! Wet: Violet is sometimes bitter on me, sometimes powdery, and sometimes screechingly sweet. Today it's so sweet it makes my teeth ache. Very much like candy. This is actually the closest I come to liking violet (which is not actually very close at all) as I like the sweetness better than when it's bitter or powdery. Dry: Violet indeed. If you love sweet violet scents, I would imagine this is a must try! It goes a bit powdery as well. so like violet candies ground down to powder. I am going to rate this Not Disgusting and that's pretty good coming from this violet hater!

Not a fan of aquatics, but I love trying everything I have the chance at! It's very cologney on me. And a bit citrusy. But mostly it smells like cologne. Of the random department store variety. It actually smells nothing like a typical aquatic on me A very traditional cologne is what I get. It's nice, actually, just not for me.

I was fortunate enough to swap for this. I was testing so many things at the time though, that I had a hard time picking out notes in this, I just knew I liked it, but my skin seemed to eat it quickly. Wet: Mmm, sweet warm glowing wood, cognac. A hint of dry patch (not the gnarly kind, to my nose). Now that I can read the actual notes they're much easier to pick out. It is a bit masculine, but I love it and want to be able to pull it off anyway. It's kinda sexy! Really liking it. Dry: Once again, completely eaten by my skin! Doesn't even last half an hour on me, so I am not sure what it really dries down to. Sadly, this one may have to be swapped.

Wet: Warm patchouli, honey, and greenness (from the honeysuckle?) are what I get first. Much lighter than I expected. I am not getting much of the sarsaparilla. No leather (which I am ok with, it's iffy on me). This is nice! Much greener and more floral than I anticipated, which is great, I love honeysuckle. And the honey and patch are an unexpected combo with it, but beautiful. Dry: This is a beautiful honeysuckle scent! I really expected the patchouli and honey to dominate, but they are playing second fiddle to the honeysuckle. It's a very warm, rich, somewhat spicy and earthy floral scent, and I am loving it.

I love red musk, so I am really excited to try this! Wet: Fruity red musk with a bit of herbs. Interesting! It's getting a bit soapy though. Dry: Wow. This is truly terrible on me. Lol. Something just does not agree with me, and that makes me sad, because it's a beautiful cobalt bottle, with lovely label art, and I just wanted to adore it, but it smells more like salad on me than anything. So, ya. Swap. *sad panda*.

Wet: Mmm. Sweet dragon's blood and sexy red musk. That's nice. Dry: Lovely. The DB isn't overpowering, and neither is the red musk, they're in perfect harmony, with faint florals swirling around and through. Lovely!!

How did I manage to not review this?? One of my top 10 fave HG's. What's not to love about Snake Oil in HG format? I do like aged Snake Oil better, because I find it smoother and richer, but I find the HG to be pretty smooth and rich somehow as well. Either way, totally happy with it, and need to remember to pick up the bath oil to so I can smell like Snake Oil from head to toe!

I tested this 10 years ago - my notes indicate the linen note was terrible on me and did the whole "dryer sheets" on me. I wanted to re-test it though, as my tastes and chemistry have changed. Wet: Sweet lemony tea. I don't know where I'm getting the citrus from, but I am. It's nice! But the linen note is creeping in. And I am still not a fan. Dry: Sadly, that clean linen note still just does not work for me. Tea and dryer sheets.

How have I never reviewed Eat Me? It was one of the first BPAL bottles I purchased. Fruity, sweet, almost creamy. Perfect. I love it. It has amazing throw and lasting power, and I get compliments when I wear it.

Gingerbread and patchouli is not a good mix on me. This has turned incredibly sour, like gingerbread dipped in sour milk. It's quite nice in the imp, mostly gingerbread, just not meant for my skin! Boo.

Based on the notes, this could really go either way on me Wet: Sour wood!! Blah. Sandalwood is usually the only wood that doesn't do that whole sour thing on me. Hopefully it settles as it dries. The iris is coming through as well - not good. Bleck. Dry: All iris with a bit of sandalwood. I really don't care for iris, so this one isn't for me.

Where is my order? What is Click N Ship? How long does this take?
LizziesLuck replied to Snow White's topic in BPAL FAQs
No decanting will never be an issue with Lab orders. It is likely because the Faiza is out of stock, yes. We have been spoiled lately with lightning quick turn around times, but it's actually not that uncommon to wait for an order for a few weeks, even over a month. Don't worry, they haven't forgotten you! Chances are they are waiting for a shipment of a component ingredient - so they ran out of something they need to make Faiza and are having to wait for it. If you don't want to wait, you could contact them and see if they will swap it out for something else? The Lab has amazing customer service. I know it's frustrating watching everyone else getting their orders when yours hasn't come. But it might help you feel better to email the Lab - they should at least be able to give you a rough estimate for when they will be able to start shipping out orders that contain Faiza again. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it's soon!
