I have trouble with one of the Lab's plum notes - turns straight to plastic on me. Both Bordello and Countess Willie did that - straight up plastic. Makes me think they have the same plum note, which is likely why some find them similar, the plum note is maybe most dominant on them. It sounds like it's the amaretto in Bordello that's giving you the problem though, so maybe Countess Willie will be really great on you! I remember it smelling pretty fantastic in the imp, before my skin destroyed it.

I have no clue what to think of this scent. I adore red musk. Like, love it. So I found a bottle of this. Tried it. Didn't love it. Wasn't sure what to make of it. I figured, hey, I bet I got one of the "non-red-musk" bottles people have been talking about! So I found another bottle which was advertised as the "red musk" version. It smells horrible on me too. WTF? They both smell fairly similar on me (I have one on each arm), but what they don't smell like is red musk, or creamy honey, or anything else that makes any sense to me at all. I am so bummed! There is nothing about this scent that should have made it this big of a disaster on me. You know what it smells like, is leather. Makes no bloody sense, but both of my arms, to varying degrees, smell like chemicals in a way that I associate with some of the Lab's leather notes that I can't wear. Boo!

I am not sure why I was so determined to have this, hardly anything with citrus ever works on me. But I love the name of it so much, and the IDEA, and marigold and sunflower and all, so I am giving it a go. Wet: Yup, citrus. Bitter citrus. It's settling a bit though. There's something almost minty to it - maybe the "breath of winter wind". Dry: This actually settles into something truly beautiful. The amber somehow makes the citrus wearable, and the floral notes are unique and lovely. I really love this one, it's different than anything else I have. So glad I talked myself into it!

Wet: Mmm, dark fruit and Myrrh, hints of bergamot. Interesting. A bit medicinal, but only faintly and not enough to make it unpleasant. Hoping it'll settle a bit more on my skin though. Dry: This is much lighter than expected on me. It's a fruity floral, but there's something in it that just doesn't agree with my skin chemistry. It's kept that medicinal edge that's keeping me from really enjoying it. It has no throw to speak of on me, and is very faint after less than an hour - I have to really huff my wrist to smell it. Too bad! It's amazing in the bottle.

I have never tried passionfruit or guava in a perfume before, but I love all the other notes in this, so am eager to try it! Wet: Very fruity! Lots of apple, but in my experience that burns off quickly on me. This is quite sweet, which I like. I am hoping to get more floral with the fruit as it dries. I get hints of the vanilla cream, which is one of my favourite notes of all time. Hints of spicy carnation, but I did think it would be more dominant. Dry: The vanilla cream is present for sure, and it's beautiful alongside the fruit. I do wish the carnation was a little more prominent on me - usually I amp it, but I can barely smell it in this. I really like it though, it's a lovely spring scent.

Wet: Mmm, sexy red musk. Hints of other notes that I am having a hard time placing, but that are really working nicely. Dry: The woods in this really amp up and lend this a much more unisex feel to me. I can smell the tobacco too, if I huff hard on my wrist. Red Musk is still dominant. I like this a lot, it's very sensual.

Wet: Warm red sandalwood. Then the Frank amps up and overtakes it, the sandalwood takes a back seat. The patch is just a hint. Dry: The Frankincense just keeps right on amping until it takes everything over, which isn't unusual on me. I do still get hints of the other notes, but I was hoping for more red sandalwood. It's nice, but this is not a "me" scent at all.

Wet: I can smell fermentation (how does Beth DO that??) but only for a second, then I get a warm, rich, spiciness. More like spice cake than ale/beer. Not what I was expecting. Really nice though. Somewhat gourmand. Dry: Earthy, spicy, a little fruity, but honestly it still smells like cake to me! Like spicy, fruity coffee cake. Not that that's a bad thing, just not what I was expecting. I like it! I can see wearing it in the fall.

Wet: Sweet beeswax. I am learning that I amp this note, so if there is a smoke note under there, I can't smell it. Dry: Not nearly as sweet as it was initially. I like beeswax, but I think it is a note I like best when it's with other things. This is nice, but I can't really see wearing it.

Wet: Honey! I amp amber, so I was expecting it to take over, but this is a sticky-sweet honey scent for sure. Very sexy and likable, and I really like it. Took me FOREVER to try it, because I always go for "flashier" more complex scents. The sweetness and simplicity of this is stunning though. It's really my type of scent. This is the same honey note that's in Womb Furie, to my nose. Dry: I love the simplicity of this. Somehow it's sexy and comforting at the same time. I feel like I should probably have a bottle.

I ADORE lilacs. My faves are Glaucous Snow from the Post, and Eusapia, but I also really like the Lilac Wood. Adante con Fantasia from this year's Lupers is lilac and honey on me with a touch of lime, which is lovely too.

Wet: Roses! And Cake! And Custard! Mmm, interesting. The creamy custard note (I am assuming that's the trifle) is really amping up. I am not sure how much I love it. It's interesting with the rose though. Dry: The rose becomes most prominent, backed by a general sweet creaminess (not identifiable as cake or custard anymore). There's a hint of fruitiness as well, but I can't really identify it as strawberry either. I like it! And I'm glad to have tried it, but I can't see wearing it, so I doubt I will need to track down a bottle.

Wet: Mmm. The patch in this is the drier, woody variety. Beautifully rich and sweet, a little spicy. Really really nice. Dry: This was promising, but goes a little bit weird on me. There's a weird, slightly unpleasant mustiness that's happening on my skin, and I don't really enjoy it. Too bad! I bet this amazing on different skin.

I think it's balanced between the notes. Although with my skin chemistry I can end up with a sweet benzoin coconut and a hint of patch. (That said I like most BPAL patchoulis, so long as it's not the dominating note) Awesome! I'm definitely going to try it. Thanks! It's the one that I put off trying for 2 years (exploring BPAL) and then finally got a imp to try and realized I was incredibly stupid for not trying it sooner. Hands down it's my DH's favorite scent on me because he thinks it's dead sexy. Skin chemistry is such a cool thing - on me, even though I usually amp benzoin, Goblin is 100% gnarly patch, you can't even pick out the other notes they just lend a sort of sweet creaminess. I love both Body, Remember and Tiki King. I don't find them to be very similar to each other, but now that I think about it, you can pick out that it's black coconut - which to me is a warmer, dryer coconut. Death Adder has black coconut in it, and now that the Snake Pit is back, it wouldn't be hard to get your hands on maybe that's worth a shot. You could also try Death Cap, the notes aren't listed, but whatever coconut note is in it is very warm and dry to me. Could be black coconut.

I had hoped Roses, Pearls and Diamonds would be a lovely coconut and rose on me (two of my fave notes!) but no such luck. The coconut in it is never present on me. But I recently acquired The Raptures and Roses of Vice, and it IS an amazing coconut rose combo, with some musk thrown in for added sexiness. I don't hear it mentioned much for coconut recs, but it's really nice.

I have a lot of coconut scents. Lol. These are the ones that are most in the Tiki Princess type vein to me: Avunculus - Orange blossom honey, white coconut, and pear with flecks of golden amber that glimmers like sunlight on water Lovers and a Fan - White coconut, thick wildflower honey, and threads of saffron. Lamia - Pale orchid, vanilla amber, black currant, white peach, champaca, coconut, Arabian myrrh, Burmese vetiver, and oude. (this smells like a tropical jungle to me, I love it!) Body, Remember - Profoundly sensual. The echo of caresses: raw black coconut, ambergris accord, ambrette seed, champaca flower, and sugar cane.

I had to try this, because coconut, and also blood musk. Sadly though, it's all orris on me, and orris and I aren't friends. I do smell the coconut as well, but I just can't get past that orris.

Original: (will likely add my review of 2016 when I get my decants! Can't wait to compare) Wet: Wow. The familiar base on Snake Oil is there, for sure. But it's sweeter, and the smoky vetiver and coconut are great together! Mmm. A very non-foodie coconut, to me. Very warm, a little tropical almost. Sultry. Great. It's reminding me a lot of Lamia - I think the coconut/vetiver combo. Love. This is like Snake Oil in a tropical jungle. Dry: Love it. Lamia plus Snake Oil on me. AWESOME. ETA: 2016 My decant of 2016 Death Adder just arrived today, so it is fresh out of the mail, but I can't wait to try it! I decided not to do a side by side comparison right now, but I may later. Wet: Mmm. Warm, husky coconut with nutty vetiver. Sweet and rich. I think the vetiver in this may be more present than in my bottle of the original. But the coconut is as well. Essentially, the other notes are less dominated by Snake Oil in this. Dry: Much more coconut than the original, I think. Warm, husky, nutty coconut. It's amazing. The backing of Snake Oil is perfect. Coconut is one of my favourite scents, and this is one of my favourite coconut scents. Either there is a slight difference between original Death Adder and 2016, or I like this better fresh. Either way, I will need a bottle of 2016. Several, more than likely. This just shot into my Top 10. It may be my favourite coconut scent ever. *swoon*.

I recently tried Berry Moon 2011, and it didn't work for me. Someone kindly gifted me 2009, so here's hoping it works out better! Wet: The orange blossom honey is a bit green and bitter on me. Usually that settles out. This is nowhere near as candy-sweet as 2011 was, and that gives me hope. This is fresher, greener. More natural smelling. As it's settling down, it's growing on me. Dry: I really liked this as it was drying - there was a green, freshness to it that I really liked. But that has faded, and it's mostly a sweet berry scent now. It's nice, but I am missing that greenness. I might try layering it with Grass Stain SN.

I have been dying to get my hands on this! Wet: Smells like candy, which was not what I was expecting! Hoping it'll settle into more of a musky vanilla cream + floral like I was hoping for...so far, very artificial smelling on me. Dry: Gone. I have applied twice, and it just disappears. I went back and sniffed it in the bottle, and it is so dreamy! Vanilla cream, hints of musk and florals, slightly fruity, perfect....on me, nada. Not giving up, I will retest another day.

I love this type of scent! My go-to Femme Fatale scents are: Whip black leather and damp red rose. Tombeur Deadly and seductive: vanilla-infused sandalwood, blood musk, antique patchouli, vetiver, lavender, bitter almond, amber, and a trickle of Snake Oil. The Black Temple Burlesque Troupe Cacao, black musk, and tobacco absolute. Sing the Wild Song Red musk and threads of saffron with sweet wild tobacco, blackened clove, white sandalwood, cypress, and black pine pitch La Femme de Satan Red musk and cacao with clove, caramelized tobacco, aged patchouli, red currant, black leather, and vanilla-infused amber. Aradia A veil of smoked patchouli, sweet oak, and opoponax sweetened by bourbon vanilla L'Essence de la Passion Red musk, carnation, myrrh, and honey.

Wet: Very sweet, concentrated blackberry jam. A hint of vanilla that may be from the "scones'. I know from experience that it takes this type of scent a bit to settle on my skin. Could go to plastic, could be awesome. Hard to say. Dry: I wasn't sure about this while it was drying. It's very very sweet at first, but it's settled down a bit, and now it's fairly pleasant. I love blackberry so much, and had had high hopes for this. I am just not sure how much I love it at this point. I may need to wear it for a full day.

Wet: Boozey chocolate cake and...something? Not sure what I am smelling, but it's not straight-up cupcake. I like it so far, but the throw isn't great on me. Dry: There's something perfumey (which I like, but can't identify) underneath a very dry chocolate note. This wasn't what I would have expected, but I am enjoying it. I do have a lot of chocolate scents, but I am thinking this is different enough to justify having it in my collection

I love the Lab's grass note, I could not resist having it in single note form. Upon opening to bottle, I get the most realistic grass smell ever. Awesome. I accidentally sloshed a drop out of the bottle onto a table, and instantly the whole room smelled like freshly mown grass. Wet: On my skin, this changes totally. It gets sort of bitter, and smells a lot less green. It's not all that pleasant at this stage, I like it in the bottle so much better! My nose may be overloaded though, due to the smell of this wafting in the air. Dry: This recovers from the weird bitter phase it went through. It doesn't quite stay true to the scent in the bottle on me, but it's still a very realistic grass note that I will love layering with various things. (Strawberry Moon 2009 comes immediately to mind).

Stale Sugar-Crusted Marshmallow Chick
LizziesLuck replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Limited Editions
I wondered when I got this if it would be too close to Stekk...I decided I didn't care, cuz marshmallow, and I got it anyway. Wet: Different than Stekk, for sure, but don't ask me how! Yum. Hard to put my finger on what this smells like (other than marshmallow, of course!) but there is something there.... Dry: This has pretty good strength and throw, and is a lovely, slightly buttery, vanilla marshmallow scent. I really like it, and think it's different enough from other marshmallow scents I have to have a home in my collection I do think I will death-match it against Stekkjarstuar just for kicks though, I'm curious to do a side-by side comparison.
