I am dying for a good rose/tobacco combo, hoping this might finally be it!! Wet: Mmm, so much tobacco, and it's SO GOOD. Hints if syrupy sweet rose (but in a good way!).....we're off to a good start here. The opoponax is giving it that syrupy feel, I think, but it's not taking over like it sometimes does. I LIKE this. Dry: This is a sultry, somewhat seductive scent, but not really overly sexual. I love the way the opoponax gives the rose a syrupy vibe, and the tobacco doesn't dominate, but gives the whole blend a smoky feel. I am not really picking out the clove, but I think it adds a certain something I can't really describe. I like this a lot, and can see wearing it on a sultry summer night.

I'm an Aries (through and through!) so I just had to have this, plus I adore red musk. Wet: Lots of dragon's blood on me. The red musk is evident as well, and the pepper. I am really liking this. It is such a RED scent. The pepper with the resin is amazing, and the musk in the background....it's just the right amount of sweet. Dry: I get it. I get why this is Aries. It's sweet, but fiery. A bit sultry. Intriguing. The Dragon's Blood is most prominent on me, but it's nicely balanced with the spices and musk. The sandalwood keeps it grounded. It's not too sweet like DB sometimes is on me. Really well blended, and I am glad to have it.

Wet: The drop of oil sitting on my skin smells like smoky vetiver, but the second I rub it in, my skin amps that amazing tobacco note, and the dark chocolate blooms, and I am in heaven. A hint of smokiness remains from the vetiver, but it is mostly chewy, caramelly tobacco. I agree with others that this is the same or a similar note to French Tobacco SN. If you like chocolate, and you love tobacco, and you're not afraid of vetiver, GET THIS. Dry: The same, this isn't a morpher on me after the first few moments. I am glad the hint of smoke from the vetiver sticks around, my skin generally eats it entirely. I don't get a ton of chocolate, but it's there. And the tobacco is just so so good. This is really sexy. I think a guy could easily wear it as well.

Wet: I was worried this would be way to heavy and too much pure incense for me, but it isn't so far, it's actually really light, I can barely smell it It's not at all what I was worried it would be, I am getting more of a floral vibe than I had even hoped! There's something almost fruity about it, and I love that. It's really nice so far. I do wish it was stronger and had more throw. Dry: The incense amps a bit more as it dries. It's nice, still a bit floral, a bit fruity. I got this partly because I am never really able to pick nag champa/champaca out of a blend (my skin seems to eat it?) and I don't burn incense or anything, so I wanted to get a better idea of what it smells like. Which I now have, for sure. I am just not at all sure I will wear this, as nice as it is. I certainly couldn't wear it to work, but it doesn't seem like something I would want to wear on the weekend either. Sadly, it may be destined for a swap. So glad to have tried it though!

A very kind forumite gifted me a decant of this! So happy to have it. As soon as I spray this I get the same amazing peach note that's in Tamora. This actually has a similar sort of resinous/ peachy feel to Tamora. I love it. The frank doesn't overwhelm the scent like it sometimes does on my skin. The champaca flower is amazing. I really love this and will cherish the decant and hope to find some more of this.

This could go either way on me - berries and apricot and musk are good, cherry, brandy and strawberry are iffy. But I love Blackberry and red musk so much I couldn't resist trying. Wet: Mmm. Hard to discern between the fruit notes, but I think apricot and cherry are strongest. I'm getting syrupy brandy, for sure, and hints of musk. I really like it so far. Fingers crossed it doesn't go plastic! I'm getting hints of mint - huh? Dry: Whatever was masquerading as mint has died down. This is now a faint fruity/musky scent. It's quite nice, but not blowing me away. I think it would likely be fantastic on someone else who has less difficulty with Strawberry and Cherry.

I'm a little iffy on the lemon sugar, but I love apricot and coconut so much, so I wanted to try this. Vetiver usually gets eaten by my skin completely. but I do like it while it's briefly present. Here's hoping! Wet: Mmm, the coconut and vetiver together are fantastic - nutty and smoky. I get a little bit of sweet fruitiness from the apricot. Hmmm, the vetiver is actually amping and taking over, which is not usual for my skin. It's not unpleasant, but not the apricot/coconut scent of my dreams, either. Dry: Very faint apricot. The vetiver does get eaten by my skin, as usual. and it takes the coconut with it, leaving only the faintest traces of scent behind. The lemon never even showed up to the part. Too bad, but this is obviously not meant for my skin. Glad to have tried it though1

I love vanilla musk, and feel compelled to try everything containing it. Some of these other notes should be great on me too, but the violet leaf is a little iffy. Wet: Mmm, much fruitier than I was expecting! Yum. The plum note is lovely, but there is a chance for it to turn into plastic on me. So far so good! This is a totally "different breed" than the other, darker plum blends that are the ones that usually work on me (Black Moths, Lady Lucille Sharpe, Mme. Moriarty) This is a lighter, sweeter, brighter type of fruity floral. Sadly, I am not actually getting any of the vanilla musk I had hoped for, but this is still lovely. Dry: I am so happy with this. It's so perfect for spring, and so work appropriate (which I struggle with). Fruity and fresh and floral. Not cloying at all. Just perfect.

2009 I love all of these notes, and am so intrigued by the chili pepper, so I felt the need to hunt this down. Fresh out of the mail! (LOVE the label art) Wet: Dark, murky musk and pepper! This reads more as black pepper to me, but it's for sure peppery, and I am really liking it. The Myrrh is coming out too, and the benzoin sweetens things up. Mmm. Love! This black musk/Myrrh combo was what I wanted Streets of Detroit to be (and it wasn't, on me). I am loving the hints of spice, too! Dry: Fantastic. The spices come out nicely, the musk and Myrrh blend beautifully and the benzoin sweetens it all. Love it! So happy I tracked it down.

Similarities Between BPAL Scents - GC and general discussion
LizziesLuck replied to Shollin's topic in Recommendations
On me, Behemoth is almost entirely tobacco flower. In that way, it ended up being very similar to Fractured Singularity on me (which is not a GC, but isn't too difficult to find a bottle of). Of course this will be different for you if you don't amp the tobacco flower like I do. I also had fairly similar results with Door, which is GC - it was the tobacco flower (nicotiana) that I amped like crazy in that too. Sorry I can't be more helpful! -
A lovely forumite gave me a tester of this, knowing how much I love vanilla, and I am so grateful! Wet, I get a beautiful vanilla cream note. There's something else there too, but I am having a hard time placing it. It's lovely. It makes me happy. Not a ton of throw on me, it sits quite close to the skin. Dry: There's still this note I can't quite pick out - maybe almost a linen or clean type note? It's so lovely, and remains mostly vanilla cream on me, which is one of my absolute favourite notes from the lab. So glad to have gotten to try this, and will for sure snag a bottle if ever I get the chance!

In the imp, this smells like amazing red musk with fruit Wet on my skin though, the pomegranate does that thing I hate, where it goes all powdery and dusty. And then the orange blossom amps and it gets really bitter, with a hint of wet cardboard. Guh, skin chemistry, you kill me. Dry: The bitterness from the orange blossom eventually fades, but sadly the pomegranate just never ends up working on me in this, and the red musk doesn't get a chance to shine through.

Wet: Mmm, rich. Warm, spicy, woody coffee. Despite the distinct coffee and spice notes, this somehow totally avoids being foodie. It comes across very unisex. I love how it smells on me, and I think I would love it on a man as well. I think I get what all the fuss is about, this is pretty amazing. There is something so comforting about this. It has just the right amount of sweetness (which, for me, is quite a bit, I love sweet perfume). I can't stop sniffing my arm. Mmmmmmm. Dry: Pure love. The tobacco in this is gorgeously subdued, everything is just so well blended, perfectly balanced. It makes me sigh contentedly when I sniff my arm.

Blue Skies Smiling at Me.. scents for Sunny Days
LizziesLuck replied to Danielle DiFusco's topic in Recommendations
On a beautiful sunny warm Spring day, I want: (trying to keep this to things that are currently available) Bewitched Delirium Tamora Pandy Alice, The Reaper of Cruelty Judith and Holofernes and in the Summer: Elegba Alice Eat Me A Specific Aberration Iulia L'Artiste du Diable Jiggery Pokery - King vs Burwell The Bride -
Often really simple blends are great on me, and I love both of these notes, so I am happy to have tracked down a bottle of this. Wet: Mmm, powdery (in a good way!) black musk, with slightly sweet cinnamon. I was worried the cinnamon would take over, but this is much more musk dominant, with hints of warm spice. It's really nice. Gender neutral, to my nose. Dry: The cinnamon is really just an accent, the star of the show is a truly glorious black musk. I like this even better than Black Temple Burlesque (blasphemy! I know). This goes less powdery than most black musk, which is nice, even though I do actually enjoy the powderiness most of the time. This also doesn't have than anise note that sometimes seems to appear with black musk (or my nose thinks it does at least). This is warm, and rich, a bit spicy, a little sexy. Pure black musk love! So glad to have it.

I have wanted this for a while, for very sentimental reasons (my grandfather took me to see the Nutcracker when I was really young and called me Sugar Plum ever after). I couldn't have even cared less what then notes were, but they happen to sound amazing. I already have Sugar Plum Fairy v3, and while I like it ok, it's never wowed me, and I was still on the lookout for the released version, and am now so happy to have it! The label art makes me really happy. Wet: Fruity and sweet, but not nearly as candy-like as v3, which I am digging. The apricot peel keeps it from being too sweet I think, lending an almost citrus edge. The tiare gives it some sweet floral hints, which is lovely and the musk keeps it from being too foodie. It's beautiful, and I like it much more than v3. I am so so happy to have some of this. Dry: Lovely. This falls more into the category of sugary, fruity florals on me than fruity/candy type scents, which is where v3 sits on me. I like this much better (also, the label art!) and am truly glad to have it.

Looking for scents that smell like chai
LizziesLuck replied to Vicious Mistress's topic in Recommendations
The Gourd of Deprivation from BPTP (I have it in HG form) reminds me of Chai. -
I have had this on my list of things I needed to hunt down for a while. I realize this has potential to be amazing on me, or terrible. All the notes are great for me, except juniper and cubeb, which can both be disastrous. So this is a gamble, but I wanted to take it. Wet: Spicy, fiery cubeb (though I am enjoying it here), musk, some chocolate. The cubeb is going lemony, as it often does. I know from experience though that if I leave it on my skin for 45 mins or so, it sort of "burns off". I think this will need to settle a while on my skin before I decide about it, but so far it's mostly cubeb, hints of juniper berry, and musk. Not what I had hoped. Pretty much the opposite of what I hoped, actually. But it's not at all terrible. Dry: Once the cubeb finally dies down (which was more like 2 hours, with this) it's a pleasant berry and musk scent. I can see where others have gotten root beer, but that's not what's strongest on me. It's not knocking my socks off though, and that makes me really sad. And while it's quite pleasant now, it took FOREVER to get here. I may have to swap it.

Wow. This is even better than I hoped. I ADORE the Lab's Blackberry note, and it's not actually in that many blends. I hunt it down wherever I can. I also happen to love so many of the other notes in this, so it's no surprise I love it! It's thick and sort of syrupy, without being cloying. The Musk is fantastic. It goes a bit powdery, as black musk always does on me, but that's one of the things I love about black musk, it's a GOOD kind of powdery. This is a dark, sultry, summer night in a bottle, and I a so glad to have it.

I am such a coconut whore, I just had to have this. Even though I already have 9 coconut-dominant BPALs, and maybe 6 more with coconut as a main component. It's a problem, I recognize that. Wet: Very tropical! Lots of tropical flowers, and of course, coconut! This is quite sweet, and really different than any of my other coconut scents, which makes me really happy, as I can justify having it in my collection. This is a really bright perfume, and I keep having to check the notes to make sure there is no citrus or pineapple or something else fruity listed. This smells like a frothy tropical cocktail, and I freakin love it. It smells like vacation. Drinks by the pool! A day at the beach! Happiness!!! Dry: The same. Tropical coconut. Love it, and will wear it so much this summer (and every summer, until I run out of it and weep pathetically).

I love marshmallow, and I also love dandelion, so I have been desperate to get my hands on this for a while, and I finally did! A little worried though, as sometimes candy type scents smell like plastic on me. Wet: This really does smell pink. Like pink candies. Yup, and plastic. *sigh*. I was worried that would happen! Sometimes scents "recover" from being plastic on me, so I'm waiting it out. Dry: It's totally gone (in maybe an hour). There was a brief phase where the dandelion came out and saved this from plastic hell, but then it just disappeared. I will test it again another day when it's not so fresh out of the mail, and when my skin is less dry and likely to eat it, before I ship this off to swaps.

Isis, once stalled in Phoroneus’ caves, now queen of Pharos and a deity of the breathless East, welcome with sound of many a sistrum the Mareotic bark, and gently with thine own hand lead the peerless youth, on whom the Latian prince hath bestowed the standards of the East and the bridling of the cohorts of Palestine, through festal gate and sacred haven and the cities of thy land. Under thy protection may he learn whence comes the fruitful license of marshy Nile, why the waters abate and are hemmed within the banks that the Cecropian bird has coated with clay, why Memphis is jealous, why the shore of Therapnean Canopus makes wanton revel, why the warden of Lethe guards the Pharian shrines, why vile beasts are held equal to mighty gods; what altars the long-lived Phoenix prepares for his own death, what fields Apis, adored by trembling shepherds, deigns to graze, and in what waters of Nile he bathes. Pomegranate root, honey, white cedar, and frankincense. The Lab mistakenly sent me a bottle of this instead of one of the Yules I ordered. I generally don't like wood in scents (though occasionally I am surprised and do) so I likely never would have tried this otherwise. In the bottle: Sweet. A bit dusty. I can pick out something fruity and hints of wood. Wet: Holy cedar! I smell like a tree. It's actually really nice, and if I wanted to smell like a tree I would love it. There's an earthiness and a spiciness to it. It's very warm, nowhere near as sweet as in the bottle, and I'm not getting any fruitiness now. Dry: The cedar subsides, but is still prominent. It's sweet, and some of the initial fruitiness returns, which is unexpected, as I didn't think pomegranate root would be fruity, but I think that's what I'm smelling. I don't get any of the Frank. Overall, this is quite nice. It does eventually get a bit dusty. I am still undecided whether it's something I would wear, but I think it's worthy of a full-day test. It's not very strong, not a lot of throw, but I only tested a very small amount.

Where is my order? What is Click N Ship? How long does this take?
LizziesLuck replied to Snow White's topic in BPAL FAQs
That seems odd, I wonder if you should email the Lab? -
I totally forgot to review this when I bought it. It's gorgeous, exactly as described. Cream that doesn't go sour or plastic, rose that doesn't go soapy, just perfect creamy rose. Love.
-
I love Whip, so of course I love slathering myself in Whip scented Bath Oil. It smells exactly like the perfume - the perfect balance of rose and leather. Sexy as hell.
